• benoit (4/5): Très bien mais on reste avec un très mauvais souvenir à cause du directeur peu franc. - Le personnel est top et le lieu très agréable mais je ne dirais pas cela du tout du pseudo directeur, plutôt arnaqueur…. L’attitude du directeur : par devant très arrangeant mais par derrière malhonnête . Nous avons été facturé un montant exorbitant pour une activité qu’il nous avait vantée et inclue dans les services de l’hôtel. Nous pensions donc que c’était gratuit car il n’a jamais mentionné de prix. Notre erreur a été de ne pas poser la question !!! Nous avons été prélevé via booking : il a forcé le paiement!

Himanshu che ci ha accolto con un sorriso meraviglioso, ci ha fornito dei consigli utilissimi e organizzato un paio di tour bellissimi L'hotel e' gestito dal Sig. Himanshu in modo impeccabile con estrema cura dei particolari Abbiamo anche cenato due sere nel ristorante del hotel. Anche per le cene siamo stati molto bene: location perfetta, piatti ben preparati con ingredienti freschi e genuini Veramente un'ottima realta' del territorio In alcuni commenti e' stato indicato che la struttura e' costosa per gli standard del Laos. Dobbiamo capire cosa vogliamo. Oltre al costo bisogna anche confrontare la qualita' e al Residence Bassac la qualita' e' ai massimi livelli

Fantastic team, great breakfast and excellent dinner place close by (Riverside homemade) Ideal place to disconnect from the stress of a busy life. At first the manager acted rather distant, but opened up and provided excellent customer service.

Le personnel de l’hôtel a été d’une grande aide, disponibilité et professionnalisme tout au long de notre séjour, nous les remercions encore pour leur acceuil impeccable. Les petits déjeuners sont copieux, et le restaurant est également très bon ! Nous recommandons vivement cet hôtel ! Merci encore pour ce séjour ! Tout était parfait, Simplent à noter que les prix du restaurant étaient un peu trop élevés, une carte plus accessible nous aurait convaincu d’y manger matin midi et soir ! :)

Les repas sont délicats et délicieux. Le sommet: prendre son petit déjeuner en surplombant le Mékong. Quelle paix majestueuse ! On y resterait toute la journée. La propreté des lieux y est impeccable, de même la qualité du service et l’affabilité de la propriétaire et des employés. La plus belle surprise en deux mois de voyage en 4 pays d’Indochine. Rien! Tout était parfait!

• John (9/5): - Beautiful hotel, beautifully furnished..The staff were great. Breakfast was served on the banks of the Mekong. The restaurant is excellent though much more expensive than the norm - absolutely justified for the excellent quality. The room was beautiful too with proper bedside lighting, very rare in our experience in Laos. It was a real pleasure staying here. Local tips: Two excellent shops run by very enthusiastic Frenchmen in the town: A bookshop/café, Oudom Café) only recently opened and it is really stylish and beautifully thought out. The books are mostly old French books, which I still couldn't resist browsing through, even though my French is basic. It has a really nice atmosphere. He also has a gallery next door selling prints of old maps, and adverts. Again, a pleasure to browse around. The owner is also very interesting to chat with - he has found his niche in life in Champasak. The second shop sells local crafts Chez Maman) and, again is really well thought out - you'd like to buy everything! The owner is a mine of local info. and also had some great info. on the different tribes scattered up on the Bolevan Plateau. We could have spent hours there chatting! Finally, if you are there on a Tuesday or Friday, pop along to the local shadow puppet show ($5). It's all done by local children and young adults, controlling the puppets, playing the music and doing all the narration. The whole event is the brainchild of another long-time French resident and what a fantastic job he and his students are doing. Vàt Phu is well worth a visit. The walk is great (don't, take the buggy) and the ruins halfway up are superb. The temple at the top is a bit of a downtrodden wreck, more than compensated for by the glorious view back down to the lower ruins and beyond..The museum is worth a look too. The drinks etc..at the shop just after the exit are reasonably priced - that was a welcome little surprise to finish up on! They give you free bikes but, sadly, the bikes are miserable wrecks which see no maintenance ever! Luckily, I brought oil with me and was able to put a bit of life into the two sad bikes that we were given . We cycled to Wat Phu and back on them without a problem - great way to get there. The trip to Champasak from Don Det was a bit of an unexpected chore. The bus dumped us by the Mekong opposite Champasak - ,that was a surprise for a bus that was apparently going to Champasak! One boat and tuk-tuk trip later, we finally got to the hotel. A little adventure but would prefer to know about it in advance! For getting to Pakse from Champasak, the hotel was surprisingly clueless! And yet other guest houses organise tickets on public minivans to Pakse - by far the quickest and cheapest way, avoids the Mekong crossing!

• Carsten (10/5): Eine sehr angenehme kleine Unterkunft in einem wundervollen Ort - Das kleine Hotel ist lebt ein wenig die französische Kolonialgeschichte in Laos, nicht ganz unproblematisch, aber ungemein angenehm. Die ruhigen Zimmer sind modern und gediegen eingerichtet, mit schönem Blick auf den bewachsenen Innenhof. Das Frühstück ist fein, mit kleiner Karte. Das Dinner gut, aber preislich etwas übertrieben für die Gegend. Das Personal ist überaus freundlich und sehr hilfreich, auch was Ausflüge in die Umgebung (Vat Phou, Bolaven Plateau) angeht. Der Ort Champassak ist aus der Zeit gefallen, ein langes Strassendorf mit viel Ruhe und Gelassenheit. Schön! Das ‚schneidige‘ Auftreten der General Managers aus Vientiane. Sonst war alles sehr gut.

La résidence Bassac est de ceux là. Le confort et le design de la chambre, la qualité du petit déjeuner servi sur la terrasse donnant sur le Mékong, la qualité du service et de l’accueil, la cuisine servie au restaurant ont contribué à ce que nous avons quitté avec regret l’établissement. • Macaj (8/5): - Le standing de la residence est parfait. Au final tres dificile de se deplacer par soi meme. Tout semble compliqué sans veritable raison. Champassac est une ville tres calme mais au final on y est vite isolées. Les services proposes par la residence sont trop onereux. On est sur des prix plus cher qu'en europe. Decue aussi par les activités. Le personnel et le guide sont vraiment au top et tres profesionnels mais une fois sur place dans les lieux a visiter le professionnalisme ne suit pas. Nos feedbacks ont été laissé a la residence.
• Gwénaëlle (10/5): - J'ai adoré la décoration intérieure aussi bien de la chambre que de la salle à manger, les tissus laotiens, le confort, les petites attentions, la gentillesse et le sourire du personnel, le jardin joliment illuminé. La Résidence Bassac est le cadre parfait pour se détendre et aller visiter les beautés culturelles et naturelles de la région. Le petit déjeuner est excellent.
• Verified traveler (10/5): Gros coup de cœur - Incroyable endroit qui dégage une sérénité apaisante. Un vrai coup de coeur pour cette bâtisse extrêmement bien agencée et décorée. Le personnel est au petit soin, des attentions rythment la journée, comme la préparation des chambres pour le coucher. Nous avons pu tester un duplex donnant sur un luxuriant jardin à l'arrière de la bâtisse, et une des 2 chambres avec vue sur le Mekong, plus petite mais à l'environnement enchanteur. Le petit déjeuner se réduit à un choix entre 3 plats (soupe, oeufs bacon légumes, ou muesli yaourt), ainsi que des fruits frais et une boisson chaude. Le seul point un peu décevant de notre séjour. Nous n'avons pas testé le restaurant, les prix étant bien plus élevés que de nombreux très bons restaurants alentour. En résumé, nous reviendrons avec plaisir pour ce cadre incroyable, et ce service irréprochable.

• Agnieszka (10/5): Amazing stay! - This is an actual excellent stay. You get a lot of hotels rated 10/10 and still not meeting the excellent standards. We loved everything about our stay at Residence Bassac. We stayed in the duplex room which was gorgeous and super comfortable. The downstairs had a nice desk, sofa, and toilet. Upstairs was great with very comfortable bed and really nice high quality bedding with access to nice balcony. Huge thanks to the cleaning staff who were remarkable! We don’t know your names but we are very grateful for your care and attention during our stay. THANK YOU! Also, the restaurant and front desk staff were super helpful and friendly. Overall, we had a memorable stay and loved every second of it. N/A

• Erika (8/5): A lovely place across from the river (I hope they do build a pool!) - The rooms are gorgeous and very well appointed, surrounding a lovely courtyard garden. The restaurant/ lounge area is very nice. They also have a dining/lounge area on the riverside, perfect for watching the sunrise. Staff were all exceptionally nice and helpful. The robes and slippers felt luxurious. Everything was in good taste. The included breakfast was pretty good, particularly the Laotian noodle soup. Mineral water was provided. The fruit selection for breakfast was surprisingly meagre (mango/watermelon) considering that one could see other fruit growing all around. And there was no fruit juice included. The mineral water provided came from Laos, which is great, but came in tiny plastic bottles, which seems like an awful lot of plastic. The shower did not drain properly, soaking up the bath mats and encouraging biting insects.

• Virginie (10/5): Très jolie étape pleine de charme - Nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre sejour a la résidence Bassac. Nous avons ete tres bien accueilli et notre chambre etait tres confortable . La maison est tres jolie ,pleine de charme aec les bougainvilliers et frangipaniers tout autour de la terrasse couverte. Cest tres bien décoré et l'ambiance est tres agreable ,surtout le soir avec la musique et l'éclairage....on se croirait des années en arrière. Le petit déjeuner etait tres bon . Le diner également. Nous avons pu organiser notre transfert vers les îles avec la jeune femme de lhotel aussi. Je recommande vivement cet hôtel.
• Jayne (10/5): A real gem in this beautiful little town. - Fantastic location - had a wonderful river view from my room. The rooms were very well appointed and spotlessly clean. Efficient ac and also a fan. The restaurant was lovely and a good selection of food options and a wine list. Delicious breakfast! The staff were very welcoming and so helpful with arranging my trip to Wat Phu. Absolutely loved it! Nothing!
• Janine (10/5): - This is a lovely peaceful place to stay with magnificent sunrises available from several bedrooms and at the lounges by the river. The staff were ever helpful and friendly. I highly recommend Residence Bassac. I do however recommend that if you partake in the alms giving ceremony to the Buddhist monks, that you find out the cost beforehand. I found it unreasonably high and would have rather given the money straight to the monks. Otherwise thank you Residence Bassac for a gracious, delightful and memorable stay.
• Bo (10/5): On a dusty country road….. - On a dusty country road in Southern Laos lies this wonderful little boutique hotel in an old French colonial building. Situated in the extremely cozy village of Champasak. 35 km south of Pakse. The resturant is WONDERFUL and the staff here is always smiling and totally outstanding. The friendly chef pops out from the kitchen and gives a hand with the free bicycles. Averybody here is just awesome. We stayed for a week and our room was really nice. Two floors and a nice balcony. Good wifi, exellent breakfast, peace and quiet. We’ll be back!

• Martijn (10/5): Fantastic hotel in Champasak - It's a beautiful hotel with fantastic staff. Our room was very comfortable with all possible amenities. They have good bicycles you can borrow, so you can easily cycle to Wat Phou. There are several restaurants near the hotel as well as their own restaurant. The only minor remarks we have was that our garden room was outside the wifi range. And we would have preferred to pick and choose breakfast options rather then have a set menu.

The menu is overly ambitious in an area where ingredients are not plentiful/ available for European fare. It is blazing hot and after a day of touring to have a pool would be nice rather than holing up inside to cool down.

Easy access to the river and good starting point to visit the area. Nothing I did not like but I would recommend including some food options on the menu suitable for vegans.
