When we arrived, despite the messages sent beforehand, we were told that early check-in was impossible. Yet we had explained our situation. We therefore had to book an extra night upon arrival, as early check-in was unavailable. Their communication was unclear, and at reception, they claimed the problem originated with us.

We wish to express our disappointment regarding several issues encountered during our recent stay at your establishment. Firstly, there was a significant discrepancy between the room size as advertised during booking and the actual accommodation provided. Upon arrival, we found the room to be considerably smaller than expected, which was unacceptable given our booking specifications. Secondly, we encountered serious hygiene concerns with the electric kettle provided in our room. The appliance was visibly dirty and unsuitable for use, particularly as we required it to prepare milk for our child. When we contacted the front desk, the staff member informed us that no replacement kettles were available. After explaining our need to prepare our child's milk, we were asked to come to the reception to exchange the kettle. Upon visiting the front desk, the staff member was unable to provide an immediate replacement but assured us that an alternative would be found. After returning from dinner, we were informed that the kettle had been replaced. However, upon inspection, we discovered that the same kettle had been returned without proper cleaning. The appliance still retained the odour of instant noodles from previous guests, which was completely unacceptable. The following day, we raised this matter again with the same staff member, explaining that whilst we were willing to clean the kettle ourselves, we expected it to be properly sanitised initially. The staff member attributed the issue to other team members and subsequently provided us with a new, clean kettle. We trust that you will address these service and hygiene standards to ensure future guests do not encounter similar issues.

The floor was dirty and we had someone’s hair on the floor across the room and in the shower, therefore, it was necessary to wear a flip flops when taking the shower. The toilet had a strong smell of pee. The sink was dirty. The room itself is very damp. This room needs a PROPER cleaning, because it is just disgusting and we could not wait to leave. There was lack of hotels in Singapore due to the F1, and that’s why this was the only hotel we could book for “affordable” price.

The room was like a prison cell, Toilet, basin and shower all combined (just like a prison cell). No hot water to the basin. The bed was old and squeaked. The location was in a very poor area and I saw a dead rat on the footpath outside. Price was AUD$370. You could get 5 star in Melbourne for this price. - 746najdas (8/5): Make sure you get a BALCONY room! - I booked the balcony room but it didn’t look like the photo online. I had a balcony, yes, but the room was much smaller than advertised. The bathroom had clearly been cleaned as the smell of bleach hit my nostrils! It only took a few moments after I put my key card in and the ac kicked in. The bed and pillows were comfy. There are many Uk sockets everywhere! A mini fridge that I stored my bought water and milk from the nearby 7/11 store, and there was a proper kettle in the room rather than a coffee machine so I was really happy! There’s a dining area in the lobby area which gave me freshly-made, hot and delicious food when I needed it. The staff are super helpful and friendly. As a solo female traveler I would highly recommend J8 as a safe base for you as it was for me ❤️

- JOSE LUIS (1/5): No vayais a este hotel, es pésimo. - Zona tranquila. Empleados que no colaboran con los clientes y sobre todo la malísima limpieza de las habitaciones. Las habitaciones son enanas, sin ventilación natural, y con un grado de humedad super elevado que no se va en toda la noche solamente con que te duches, lo que genera moho y humedades por las paredes y techos de la habitación, que se ahuecan y se caen por todas las esquinas. La limpieza de la habitación, si es que limpian algo, es muy deficiente, y en 5 días que estuve alojado, no barrieron el suelo ni una sola vez, dejando todo tipo de cosas tiradas por el suelo del anterior inquilino de la habitación, servilletas, bridas de plástico, arena, mechones de pelo, etc. El desayuno lo retiran antes de la hora establecida, de tal forma que si llegas 5 minutos antes, ya no hay nada, tan siquiera un simple café (y eso que tuvimos que llegar a esa hora por culpa del propio hotel y falos en sus sistema de electricidad). Resumiendo, un hotel a evitar a toda costa, es completamente nefasto.

Misleading Photos and Price – Terrible Service, Poor Hygiene, and Extremely Unprofessional Staff - We stayed at J8 Hotel in July 2025, and it was a huge disappointment. We were misled by the professional-looking photos and high pricing (even more expensive than Ibis), thinking this was a proper, well-managed hotel. In reality, it turned out to be a poorly run budget guesthouse with awful service and hygiene issues. ❶ Shocking Check-In Experience We booked a Silver Twin Room with a Window. Upon arrival, we were assigned Room 601. But when we opened the door—someone was already asleep inside! Both parties were shocked and scared. We went down to the front desk immediately, but there was no apology whatsoever. The staff simply told us the room we booked was no longer available. After a long wait, we were given Room 313 instead. However, to get to this room, we had to take the elevator to the 2nd floor, walk to the end of a corridor, then climb stairs. The room had no real window—just a small ventilation opening. It was late and we were exhausted, so we stayed the night and planned to address it the next day. ❷ Broken Promises & Zero Accountability Before heading out the next morning, we explained the issue to the new front desk staff and reconfirmed that we would be moved to a room with a real window later that day. They agreed and didn’t mention any requirement to switch rooms immediately in the morning. However, when we came back that night, the new front desk staff had a terrible attitude, denied everything, and said there were no rooms available. Again—no apology, no solution. ❸ No Communication, Rude Behavior We contacted the booking platform (Ctrip/Trip.com), and they were actually very responsive and professional—huge credit to them. However, the hotel completely ignored the platform’s efforts and refused to cooperate. In the end, Ctrip issued a partial refund as compensation and informed us they would restrict the hotel’s visibility. ❹ Humiliating Treatment During Checkout When we brought the issue up again during checkout, the manager initially blamed us, saying it was our fault for not switching rooms in the morning. He even claimed that was “common sense.” Only after repeated discussion did he admit it was their mistake. What’s worse, a bald male staff member wearing a gold chain suddenly came over and began verbally insulting us, saying things like “If you’re poor, stop pretending to be fancy,” and accusing us of making trouble. He pointed at my sister (a woman) while speaking rudely—completely inappropriate and offensive behavior. We told the manager we had recorded the conversation to protect ourselves. Honestly, I couldn’t see any difference—it still had no real window, and we still had to walk and climb stairs to get there. The so-called “upgrade” was a complete joke and clearly meant to deflect responsibility. ⸻ 🛑 Final Verdict: Do NOT be fooled by the misleading photos or the high price. This is not a proper hotel. Service is terrible, hygiene is poor, staff behavior is unprofessional, and the management is irresponsible. You deserve better on your trip—avoid J8 Hotel at all costs!
