The atmosphere was amazing, with a beautiful rooftop setting that made the event even more special. The food was delicious and well prepared, and everyone at the party really enjoyed it. A special thanks to Manager Dhammika, who was very helpful and supportive in arranging everything for us. His assistance made the whole process smooth and enjoyable. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I would definitely recommend La Vista Rooftop Bar at Ocean Colombo Hotel for parties or special events.

All the staff were incredibly kind, friendly, and supportive. Everything was organized so well and they made our celebration truly special. A special thank you to Manager Dammika. He was so nice, friendly, and extremely helpful throughout the entire event. He made sure everything we requested was arranged perfectly. He even stayed with us until our party finished and supported our decoration team as well. His dedication and kindness really meant a lot to us. The food was the highlight of the night. Honestly, I expected it to be good, but it was even better than we imagined. Every guest loved the food and many of them kept talking about how delicious it was. Huge thanks to the chef for the superb food! This place is also great value for money, and the rooftop space is perfect for parties and celebrations. Everything was just perfect. We will definitely come back again even just for the food! Thank you for making my birthday so memorable.

- Trip17300506425 (2/5): Worst Experience at Ocean Colombo. - The first experience as soon as we checked in was terrible and pathetic regarding the dinner ordering which nearly took more than a hour to be sent to our room and we had to remind then 2-3 times and on that they said we can also order thru Ubereats. Secondly the food served was not fresh and appeared to be leftover from dinner. Even the breakfast was not fresh as fruits were soiled and towels were also not clean. Except the location and sea front view everything else was bad. Book this hotel at your RISK.

It is close to all the amenities and all modes of transport be it train bus or tuk tuk. The room was spacious and clean with amazing views of the ocean.The staff extremely helpful and very friendly. - 851nikhilas (2/5): Nothing except the VIEW☹️ - Old broken property, bathrooms corridors smell. Walls, wash basin have cracks. The breakfast was a disaster over crowded in a banquet hall with people banging into each other and with tables. Don’t believe the online pics.

The staffs are very friendly and adjust as per customer needs which make us feel comfortable and create the trust to stay with them again The property have to work on their breakfast menu to have more international food options. The staff at breakfast was very less to assist the guests which made waiting time more. The property to compete with other hotels in the location need to improve their facilities and provide the breakfast in a restaurant with more bigger space and better sea view.

- yash8102019 (6/5): Average Stay for three nights besides beach road - Stayed here as a single traveller for three nights, 15th Oct to 18th Oct. My room number was 1004, which was on the 10th floor of the building. Check-in Process: Smooth and did not take much time, as I arrived around 4 in the evening. Location: Right on the beach road, and since all the rooms have a beach view, so one of the major reasons for me to choose this for my stay. Room: The room was decent, spacious; however, the rooms along with the building need some renovation. The washroom was a little smelly, so I had to use the room spray. Further, the window had film on it, which was half torn, so the view was not very clear, and spoiled the idea of a sea view. Dining: I did not include breakfast in my room as there are many nearby options; however, I did try a Sri Lankan omelette here once, and it was very good. A decent stay, with a few improvements, this can definitely be a good option to consider.

The accommodation felt very basic and lacked comfort, more like something a peasant would have rather than a traveler seeking relaxation. The room was plain, amenities were minimal, and service was ok. The food was just average, nothing memorable or flavorful, and the presentation lacked appeal. While the surroundings were decent and peaceful, the overall experience didn’t justify the cost. There was no sense of warmth or hospitality, which made the stay feel rather dull. With a few improvements in service and food quality, this place could be much better.

- anuradhagb (2/5): Worst experience - 2 hours into the hotel and we are already done with this hotel. Pathetic hotel ever service in Colombo. It's understandable that when the hotel is under staffed, there would be delay in services, but we were made to wait for the luggage for more than a hour. No towels were kept, no hand shower, no alternative shower services except the normal shower. We asked for atleast buckets, and the service person was rude enough to state "these are international standards". Later the person came with a small plastic wok thing stating we have this or nothing else. Although he was given earful, the hotel doesn't seem to care how the guests are. The international standards they refer to probably states that guests should adjust no matter what the service. I would rate in minus if there was possibility.

- 394anasuyam (10/5): Relaxing stay and wonderful staff- made it feel like home - From the moment we entered the hotel we felt welcomed by Sajith Khan, who was on reception. The location was fantastic- right opposite the ocean; close to a variety of amenities including Havelock City Mall and other popular attractions. We had a fantastic stay and found all the staff to be very friendly, courteous and polite- a special mention goes out to Ajith (doorman) and Dulcie (restaurant). On one of the nights we actually returned a little past midnight and our card didn't work- thankfully one of the members of staff swiftly came and helped us, which we were grateful for. We booked a family room with sea view and were able to enjoy watching the sunset one evening, which was beautiful. Breakfast was a mix of Sri Lankan (kiribath, roti, idli etc) and Western (chicken sausages, chicken 'bacon', eggs- either scrambled, sunny side up or omelette). One of the stations included a variety of baked goods including banana bread and fresh rolls- it would have been nice to have labels on that station as one of our party was vegetarian and we were unsure what some items were (some had meat/fish in them). Some of the flavours were Sri Lankan but we were unable to pinpoint exactly what flavour, so it would have helped in that sense as well. Fresh fruit was constantly topped up with papaya, watermelon, guava and Sri Lankan bananas being the variety thay was available whilst we were there. Ocean Colombo's hospitality was so wonderful that we look forward to returning next time we travel to Sri Lanka!

- refair (2/5): Poor and disgraceful hospitality - The only positive is the location and a sea front view.. Floors and elevators were stinking with cigarettes. Restaurant manager Priyanka is a disgrace to the hotel industry. He was behaving very rude with the guests giving embarrassing experiences to guests, I stayed in 5 different hotels and all other hotels were amazing and iru very kind and supportive staffs. Priyanka was least bothered about the review and was fighting with few other guests as well. I don’t recommend this hotel if you are going on a family trip.
- BNNaik (10/5): Memorable Colombo - Staying at The Ocean Hotel was a truly memorable experience, largely due to its captivating views of the Indian Ocean and the parallel railway line. Our family room was remarkably spacious, equipped with two beds, a comfortable sofa, two tables, a refrigerator, and a locker - all adding to our comfort. We thoroughly enjoyed the excellent breakfast, which offered a wide array of choices, and found the staff to be incredibly welcoming. This hotel truly completed our memorable stay in Colombo.

- Maliha (1/5): Extremely disappointing. Worst hotel experience in my 9 day SL trip or even WORST in my life - just the view of the ocean from the room. Also they upgraded us to a bigger family room (but the room and hotel had nothing good about it) Everything about the hotel. It was dingy and damp, walls and ceilings were worn down, filthy, bathroom was dark, smelling like sewerage and had sticky floors, torn curtains. It was raining and our room and even the reception area had a water leakage through the window/wall. The corridors were dirty and worn off like it hasn't been cleaned or painted in years. When we were checking out at 3AM, it was raining heavily but none of the staff came to help with suitcases; we had to ask for an umbrella and help. The security guard asked my husband to drop me off to the car with the umbrella and come and return it at the door, whereas the security should’ve held the umbrella and dropped us off. My husband had to run in the rain after returning the umbrella and came back to the car all drenched. Thank God we stayed only one night, it was not even a one star hotel experience while they’re claiming and charging like a 4 star. Please AVOID this hotel if you don’t wanna ruin your trip.

- hanzikam (10/5): The ocean Colombo - We had a wonderful stay at The Ocean Colombo Hotel! The room was clean, tidy, and well-maintained, making us feel comfortable right away. We truly appreciated the early check-in, which was a great convenience after our travels. The view from the room was simply breathtaking a perfect touch to our stay. The front desk staff were warm and welcoming, always ready to assist with a smile. Overall, everything was excellent, and we would definitely love to stay here again…

- Compass275623 (10/5): Great hospitality - Stayed only one night at the Ocean Colombo on a business trip with my family, We were warmly welcomed by Mr Khan at the front desk in a very professional way and he gave us a very good impression about the entire hotel. we stayed at the room # 703, amazing sea view ....it was very comfortable & clean. all the staff members at the front desk ,restaurant, even the security officer are very kind, caring and helpful, we will highly recommend your great hospitality.....hope to back soon.

- Meander22284156466 (6/5): Avoid this place! - If you want accommodation opposite the ocean and next door to the railway line, this is it! Whilst we knew we were going to 3 star accommodation, we did not expect the place to be dirty and smelly. Nothing about the room was appealing - film on window peeling off, ceiling panelling stuck up with duct tape. Restaurant was average. Went down for breakfast and could hardly see the end of the dining room for the smoke coming from the kitchen

- Fiona (4/5): Fine for a quick overnight. Not recommended if you are expecting what’s in the photos - Facing ocean Rooms look nothing like photos. It’s a very old building that’s next to railway tracks. Hallways seem like they belong in an old disused building.
- Divya (2/5): Terrible. - The view was great. We stayed at the panoramic room. This was the ONLY good thing about the hotel. Everything. We had such an unpleasant stay here. The room was not ready when we arrived, and we were made to wait almost an hour for the room. Did you know that if you pay more than 35k LKR per night, you STILL have to pay for water the next morning because it's checkout day? The staff were rude too. The turn down service was incomplete when we checked in. Honestly, take your money elsewhere. This isn't worth the time, energy or the money. Also what is that smell in the room? So weird.

- mysram99 (8/5): Great stay - Great location with great view. But the bath room sink was blocked and had to change rooms. Food was authentic, staff members were helpful. The glass on the sea side has no safety mechanisms.If the glass breaks, anyone can fall from the room which is rare ( we were on eighth floor, it was a bit scary).There should be balcony protection at least at the hip level.Otherwise, the hotel stay was great. Thank you.
