Guest Reviews
- Denise (8/5): - Staff gave us a free upgrade. We had a large room with a great view of the 9th hole of the golf course. The bed was soft. The room furnishings were a bit outdated.
- Terry (10/5): -
- backenstos (7/5): - AVERAGE MORE SELECTIONS

- Henry (9/5): Tranquil, comfortable and pet-friendly lodging - My wife, our 4-year old English Springer Spaniel and i enjoyed three very comfortable and peaceful nights and mornings at the Inn at Houndslake while visiting our son and his family, who live less than 10 minutes from the Inn, for a post-Christmas weekend. Perfect location for us because of proximity and we also greatly appreciated the quietness and secluded location of the Inn, in the middle of a peaceful golf community. The room was spacious and comfortable, and we were given a room "downstairs" (there are 3 levels) which gave us easy access to take our dog out the back door and into lots and lots of areas for us to roam. The pet fee was $50 for the entire stay, which was very reasonable. The continental breakfast was very nice - assortment of yogurts, breads, cereal, juice, coffee, bananas, etc. Spacious and quiet breakfast area. The front desk and housekeeping staff were very cordial and welcoming. We will be making the Inn our regular lodging place for future visits. The bathroom was spacious and everything was functional, but the fixtures could use some updating.
- Barry (6/5): - Very dated property, but staff was excellent.
- melanie (8/5): Country club vibe - This is an older hotel inside a country club. The setting is quiet and pretty. The rooms are dated but serviceable. The pool is not part of the hotel but you are allowed to use it. It could use some upkeep but is a big lap pool which is nice.
- Tonya (6/5): - Nothing In a very dark hard to find are
- Tonya (8/5): -
- Cynthia (10/5): -
- Kenneth (10/5): - Location
- Michael (10/5): 2 night business trip - Traveling for business - arrived late and notified front desk in advance, so check in was no problem. Location is great. Room was clean and quiet, I had a little down time to enjoy the pool. Available breakfast was good - would definitely stay again.
- Chris (9/5): -
- Marina (10/5): - Amazing place for a relaxing vacation.
- Tracey (7/5): - Beautiful location Bed very hard and very uncomfortable
- Richard (10/5): - Very nice and relaxing place
- Sam (10/5): - We recently stayed at The Inn at Houndslake during our trip to Aiken for Nationals, and overall, it was a wonderful experience. While Expedia was incorrect about the property having an on-site bar and restaurant—this is actually part of a country club—we were still very happy with our stay.
The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Every person we interacted with was friendly and helpful. They even provided a few items we had forgotten at home, which made a big difference.
Our room was spotless, and the beds were extremely comfortable. In the evenings, our kids especially loved the fresh-baked cookies and hot chocolate—it was such a thoughtful touch! The pool was also a huge hit with the whole family.
We’ll definitely be returning to The Inn at Houndslake for future Nationals events. Highly recommend!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good for price - The hotel was a fair price, safe, generally quiet inside. Due to the extensive amount of carpeting, allergies were triggered.
Beds were comfortable. Parking was nice.
- Dustin (6/5): Pleasant -
- Marilyn (10/5): Exceptional - I love the location. Quietly set on a golf course in a beautiful community. Rooms were very clean. The beds were extremely comfortable. Staff was friendly, caring, and helpful. The parking lot needs more lighting in the evening.
- Garth (10/5): - Wonderful people taking care of us. Peaceful hotel.
- J (10/5): - Very quiet and off beaten path but still very close to everything.
- Melissa (10/5): - A hidden gem!
- Chris (10/5): - Quiet and convenient
- Hey (10/5): - Peaceful stay
- Valerie (8/5): Very good -
- Mark (8/5): - They have a beautiful pool whcih I wanted to use but unfortunately it was closed. Not sure when they open but I really wanted a swim. Batroom is a little dated. room itself was beautiful.
- Dan (10/5): - We had a lovely stay. The hotel is slightly dated, could probably use a freshening up but the beds are very comfortable, the rooms are spacious and well furnished and the staff are so friendly and helpful. Cannot recommend the Inn any higher!
- Karl (10/5): - Old school hotel with friendly helpful staff surrounded by the golf course and a few walking trails. Would definitely stay here again
- steve (10/5): Great location. Quiet and comfy. - Very quiet and away from busy roads. Great location to visit Augusta. Friendly staff.
- Dana (8/5): Comfortable inn for a quick stay. - Convenient to USC Aiken, comfortable and affordable. Very dated decor, updates needed to the older quilts and pillows. Hard to locate the inn at night based on the directions. We ended up in another location on site at a restaurant and the staff said that happens often when people are trying to find the inn parking lot. Multiple parking lot lights were out or flickering, so the mood was not very welcoming or clear for a night time arrival.
- ronald (10/5): Nice, quiet hotel for a short visit. - Good one night stay for a trip to the Aiken Steeplechase. Room was large. Bed was comfortable. Hotel was quiet. Property grounds nice.
Front desk made sure to walk me through the process for late check-in, so I had no issue on arrival.
Would stay again.
- Tiffany (10/5): - Clean room with a Great view.
- Jackie (10/5): - Great place for the $. Clean, comfy & very friendly and helpful employees!
- William (9/5): Superb - Good location. Breakfast was nothing special. very limited choices
- Pam (7/5): Would be like a stay at grandma's home. Comfortable but outdated. - I didn't take advantage of breakfast. I understand the property has just been sold and will be undergoing renovation. It's a great location a great location, but in definite need of renovation.
- Tim (10/5): - We were running late for check in and the front desk staff was very welcoming and stayed late to help us. Nice property on a golf course, great views.
Will come back again.
- Katherine (10/5): It was so nice and convenient. -
- Harriet (8/5): - Staff was very accommodating.
The area around the Inn is very nice.
- Travis (9/5): Superb -
- Stephen (10/5): Clean and quiet - Clean, quiet and comfortable, very nice older style accommodations, breakfast options adequate to get you going each morning.
- Larry (7/5): Good -
- Mary (1/5): Facility was very poor, but the staff was great. - The staff was wonderful. Cheerful and helpful when our plans changed. The property was very dated and in need of a serious refurbishment. Cracked tile in the bathroom, a screeching vent fan in the bathroom, a “Continental breakfast” that was woefully insufficient. The emptied outdoor pool filled with leaves and rainwater was depressing.
- Billy (10/5): Great stay will come again - It was clean , people were friendly and a nice breakfast .
- Robert (6/5): Pleasant -
- Rick (10/5): - Great place to stay
- Thomas (9/5): Superb -
- Chris (10/5): - Loved the stay
- Jennifer (10/5): A gem of a find. - Room with view of golf course made for wonderful visit. Came to visit our grandchildren and location was a short 15 minutes away. Will definitely return each time we are in Aiken to this gem.
- Mary (10/5): Glad we chose to stay there. We will use them again - Quiet location, spacious room, nice continental breakfast Nothing
- Marie (10/5): - Great place and amazing staff!!!
- Timothy (10/5): - Nice quiet place off the beaten path with warm and courteous staff that were very welcoming and kind. I would highly recommend this place over any other in all of Aiken.
- Loong (10/5): - One of my favorite plces to stay in Aiken.
- Graham (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kathryn (10/5): Bucolic but convenient, great vibe - It has a very homey, welcoming feel. The staff are super pleasant. The bed and pillows were especially excellent. It's a bucolic location but minutes from town. I plan to stay there again when visiting family.
- Karen (10/5): - Great property. Somewhat dated but great service, super clean, great location, quiet.
- Joe (8/5): - n/a
- Gaye (9/5): Pleasant - Staff pleasant helpful Poorly lit at entrance at night
Bathroom door sweaked
- Pamela (5/5): Will not stay again - The Inn needs better signage to direct you to the building There is NO lighting in the parking lot and it is pitch dark. It is dangerous and almost impossible to walk your pet, you have to have a flashlight and that is dangerous because of the different elevations. The carpet was very dirty in our room
- Edmund (8/5): - Fantastic property , great breakfast & friendly staff, room was very comfortable
- Morgan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cheryl (8/5): Quiet and cozy - Nice quiet, cozy place to stay. Golf course views. Continental breakfast was very basic. Dining room was nice.
- Gregory (10/5): This golf resort is quiet and classic - I loved this classic and comforting hotel - the staff was so nice, and the room was beautiful.
The area is very quiet, which I very much appreciate.
- JIM (8/5): - Only 1 night but not well rec’d, and in leaving staff acted like they were doing you a favor to check you out. Needs updating
- katie (6/5): - Friendly staff, on a golf course
Although it was clean, it was very dated. Carpet was stained. Walls thin and you could hear everything in hall and rooms adjoining.
- Kortney (10/5): - Staff was fantastic
- Frankie (6/5): Straight from the 70s - Very outdated, secluded..
- Bernard (8/5): Like being in a time warp. - Staff were professional, friendly and attentive. Bed was comfortable and clean. Instructions at check in were clear and check out was a breeze. Seems a little dated, like 1970's dated. I kind of thought it was cool because I am sure that back in the day it was one of the cool spots to go. Everything, I mean literally everything hasn't been updated.. Door handles, bathroom taps and fittings, carpets, lighting and wallpaper is probably the original fitting. I only needed a place to sleep, so it didn't bother me but it's really needing someone to pump in some money to make it more modern.
The TV didn't work. I didn't report it as I could use the WiFi.
- Robert (6/5): Excellent if you wanted to play golf. - Adequate but no more. Better signage as we found it difficult to find.
- ryan (8/5): - We loved the quiet and peaceful setting. Rooms were clean and well kept. Staff was very professional and friendly. View from our room onto the golf course was relaxing. Only drawback was the continental breakfast. For the money, a few more selections would be nice. What was served was very good though.
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional - Quite location.
- Ryan (10/5): - Pool was closed following hurricane Helene, but completely understandable with the amount of damage sustained to this area. This property is a hidden gem
- Wesley (9/5): Superb -
- Deborah (10/5): We will come back and stay here. Hopefully under better circumstances. Highly recommend that you give this place a try - Everything at the Inn was beyond our expectations. It was quiet and the rooms were comfortable and homey. The staff was awesome. We will be recommending to friends
And family. I have no complaints.
- Dina (8/5): I was glad it was available during the hurricane and I could take a hot shower and watch some TV and - Coffee and breakfast It was cold in the room I tried to turn ac down
You could hear everytime someone was using the restroom
Nextdoor
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cute little hideaway - Cute little hideaway. Loved seeing deer on the golf course outside my window when I woke up. It’s an older place with older decor, nostalgic but is so clean, quiet and comfortable. Wi-Fi was very good, TV channel selection good, mini fridge in the room. All the basics of being at home. Staff is very friendly and attentive! 2-3 miles drive away from the ‘city’ so it’s very peaceful outside. Outside Pool and hot tub all well-maintained. Great little spot!
- Brandon (10/5): Hidden gem - In town, but extremely quiet
- MELISSA (10/5): - Loved this quiet location. Comfy beds & well kept rooms!
- Daniel (8/5): Very good -
- Theodore (10/5): The Inn at Houndslake - We had a great stay at the Inn at Hounds Lake. The staff at the hotel were exceptional. All gave great valuable information about the area, activities, and dining.
- Phillip (8/5): - Mostly very nice. No cofee-maker in room as was advertised. Advertised restaurant and pub were both closed for the duration of our stay. But mostly nice.
- Reginald (10/5): Out of the way location - A nice spacious location in Aiken. Tucked in off a main road with easy access to food and shopping. The rooms are a bit dated but in good repair and the walls are thin, but the noise was kept to a minimum by the guests. I had a nice size refrigerator and a microwave in the room for convenience. There is an 18 hole golf course, pool and tennis/pickle-ball courts on the property also. Along with a clubhouse which serves meals.
I met Pete the General Manager, a good man who cares about the hotel and it's guests. He's a Pittsburgh Steelers fan also, but I won't hold that against him! I plan to return on my next trip to Aiken.
- Michael (10/5): - Every rooms decor is different. Great staff, very quiet area.
- Greg (10/5): A great stay - Staff was great
- Roger (10/5): Exceptional - We liked the peaceful atmosphere. The room was nice and short drive from Columbia.
- André (10/5): Sehr angenehm und ruhig. - The breakfast is simple, but was sufficient for me. Very friendly hotel staff. Moving to another room after the first night was also no problem. No road noise
- Steph (10/5): - They were so sweet!
- Wilson (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patricia (10/5): - The Inn at Houndslake is an older property and probably could benefit from a “freshening” but that didn’t really make a difference in how nice my stay was there. We paid a fortune to stay at The Greenbrier in WVa and it too is in need of a facelift. The front desk gentleman could have not been any more accommodating and welcoming at the Inn at Houndslake. I was traveling alone for an equestrian event and felt extremely safe. My room was clean and fresh. And I slept the best I ever had in my bed there, only surpassed by the beds at the Pinehurst Inn. I will definitely be staying again thee next time I’m in Aiken.
- Lemuel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian (10/5): Country Club setting for your Hotel Stay - We really love The Inn at Hounds Lake. We have stayed at this hotel on two other occasions and find the country club neighborhood and golf course setting extremely peaceful. The country club swimming pool far exceeds any other hotel swimming pool. The rooms are very, very clean. They are a bit dated, but the dated furniture is really nice and of high quality. Management uses special needs persons for their cleaning staff, and we love that as my wife is a special needs teaching professional. For the price and tranquil setting you cannot go wrong. I would like to see eggs and sausage or bacon added to the "free" breakfast included with the room to stay equal to other similarly priced hotels in the area.
- James (9/5): Overall, the stay was wonderful. I just wish the bed had been a little more supportive. - The room was exceptionally clean and spacious. We had a bride and 4 bridesmaids getting ready before the wedding after having their hair done. They had plenty of room for their makeup and nails. .The bed was not very supportive. I felt as if I was on a trampoline every time my husband turned over, which was often, so he did not sleep comfortably either.
- Carole (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lauren (10/5): - The staff was fantastic. The mattresses were amazing, and there is a very large (and clean) pool. I wish the breakfast was a bit more full when we got there at 7:45, but otherwise would definitely return!!
- Janelle (10/5): Excellent place to stay - Our family had so much fun in the pool! It’s very large and very nice.
Staff were so very nice.
- Sarah (10/5): - Beautiful, quiet setting close to Aiken, but by itself in the country club setting.
- Bryon (8/5): Nope not again - Steve check in great
Lady check out super
AC off in rooms on arrival on 100 degree days poor management decisions
Place is weedy grass shrubs and mess

- Robert (10/5): - It is an old property that has been well maintained, but is showing its age. The Staff was terrific and the breakfast was delightful.
- Johnny (8/5): Very good -
