Guest Reviews
- Vivien (10/5): Such a lovely hideaway. - Feels like you’re in the middle of the rainforest from the beautiful terrace while watching monkeys play in the trees and toucans and hummingbirds visit. Rooms are spotlessly clean, staff is friendly and helpful, breakfast is amazing!
- Natasha (10/5): A very welcoming and kind team manage and work here. They make the place what it is. Breakfast was also spectacular. Tha - The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. The bungalow had everything I needed N/A
- Andrea (10/5): I wish there was a word more perfect than perfect! - The property is stunning—beautifully landscaped and maintained with many amenities. Each room has its own refrigerator, porch with hammock for lounging. There is a community pool and hot tub, outdoor yoga room, community patio with fire pit and breakfast nook (perfect for bird watching in the morning). The room was so well-done, clean, quiet with many amenities and the most attentive staff. We used the huge hot tub for a relaxing soak after a long day of driving. The healthy breakfast was unbelievable made with deliberate care and attention to detail—so delicious. I wish we could have stayed more than one night to enjoy all this place had to offer!

- Egle (10/5): Cosy stay with warm hospitality - Sueño Río Celeste is a truly charming and cosy place to stay, especially if you are planning to visit Río Celeste. The B&B is thoughtfully designed with great attention to detail, creating a warm and relaxing atmosphere.
The breakfast was fresh and very delicious — a perfect start to the day. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, making us feel at home throughout our stay. A lovely personal touch was the owner coming to greet us during breakfast, which made the experience even more special.
A wonderful place to stay in a beautiful setting — highly recommended when visiting Río Celeste. Minor improvement: a wardrobe in the room.
- Daniel (10/5): Sehr gerne wieder! - Sehr nettes, aufmerksames Personal.
- Sarah (10/5): Mooie en persoonlijke B&B vlakbij Tenorio - Persoonlijke ontvangst, mooie en verzorgde kamer, heerlijk ontbijt -

- Julie (10/5): - Check in was easy. Excellent communication by attentive owners and staff. The villas were beautiful and loved our breakfast deck where we were greeted by the local fauna every morning. Breakfast was delicious which included a freshly prepared juice, tea/coffee, local artisanal yogurt and homemade granola and eggs to order. Close to Parque Nacional de Volcan Tenorio, Rio Celeste, Rana Night Walk and a gem of a hike to Cataratas Bijagua. Lovely to have a quick soak in the hot tub after a day of hiking.
- Katie (9/5): Wonderful! - Super cute, clean, quiet, very pleasant grounds and staff was great. Roberto was very help and personable. N/A
- Arne (10/5): Perfect - Alles was uitstekend! Niks
- Bryan (10/5): The Owners and staff were absolutely delighful and very oraganized in their approach to guests. - the Hotel is it's own little paradise oasis The only thing we didnt like was the temperature of the spa. It was not very hot where as the evenings there canget quite cold
- ELISE (10/5): Excellent - Tout!!
- Kerstin (9/5): -
- adriana (9/5): Oase in Grünen.
- Joanne (10/5): Wildlife on site in a beautiful relaxing place. - Location, breakfast, staff and all the wildlife ! Nothing I can see during our stay
- Annette (10/5): The cabins were beautiful and well-maintained. The staff were amazing, very friendly, helpful, and went out of the way t - Property is well maintained very lush and beautiful. Nothing
- Laura (10/5): - Small, friendly, beautiful with owners and staff who are very proud.
- Marika (10/5): Endroit exceptionnel! - Endroit exceptionnel!
- Virginie (10/5): Fantastic, absolutely amazing. - One of the best places we’ve stayed at this trip (and in general in Costa Rica). The hosts were incredible as well as the entire staff. So kind, so attentive and so friendly. The pool and jacuzzi were great as well as the short jungle trail in the back of the property. They feed the birds fruit every morning from the deck with a lovely fire burning. The breakfast is simply the best we had in Costa Rica, so delicious (I would have taken kilos of that home made granola if I could). We stayed at the Pura Vida house and it has a beautiful outside deck and patio with an amazing view on the yoga deck and the jungle. So peaceful and quiet. The decoration is authentic and beautiful and every detail impeccable. Highly, highly recommend. Absolutely nothing, truly. We would go back in a heart beat!
- Lahav (10/5): Amazing gem, staff are really great - Beautiful location, clean rooms, flawless service Our stay was perfect
- Karl (10/5): Mega Super - Sehr persönlich Super freundlich alles sehr sauber.
Betten wirkten etwas durchgelegen.
- Marjon (9/5): Great! - Very beautiful garden full of birds and wildlife. Bring your binoculars :)! Amazing breakfast! Great staff, great welcome by Roberto! Very comfortabel setting with hot tub/ pool, very clean and well-kept. Bryant and Marci have created something very special which we enjoyed immensely! It was perfect!
- Fritz (10/5): - The ownes managed to build a paradise within the jungle.
We saw many animals while enjoying the infrastructure of this beautiful place.
Must see in Costa Rica
- Chris (10/5): - Exceptionally clean and attention to detail was impeccable. We can not say enough good things about our stay. The staff was kind and attentive, the breakfast was fresh and delicious, and having the ability to watch monkeys, toucans and sloths from the deck was an amazing added bonus. Truly a place that treats you like family. Would highly recommend. Everything was amazing.
- Laura (10/5): beautiful and tranquil. Josue looked after us so well during our short stay. - everything! But especially our beautiful room (“Sloth”) , delicious fresh breakfast and the lush surroundings. nothing.
- Paula (7/5): Peaceful spot - The gardens here are beautiful! There is a lovely common space to sit and see monkeys, sloths and birds. The rooms are small but decorated nicely. Staff is very nice. Jacuzzi was appreciated. Note there is no AC and no TV; breakfast is served but there is not a restaurant on site. You would need a car to get around on this area. The pool is small and better suited for adults.
- Dayna (10/5): Simply lovely stay -
- Ross (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lizi (10/5): Exceptional - this hotel was superb, the best hotel we stayed in. very big room and bathroom, nice swimming pool and jacuzzi (hot) with towels near the pool. great breakfast (with yoghurt and granola!), very friendly staff with good information about your stay and the surroundings, wish we could stay here 1 more night.
Rio Celeste, nice waterfall, a lot less touristic than la Fortuna waterfall. nothing.
- Jane (10/5): Our favourite place we stayed at on our Costa Rican trip. We throughly recommend it. - Beautiful comfortable rooms and bungalows with artistic murals and design, wonderful staff, especially the fabulous Roberto. Breakfast was out of this world delicious and we loved our stay here so much. Massages were amazing too! Nothing
- Sheila (10/5): A peaceful jungle retreat with warm hospitality, amazing wildlife, and way more to explore than I ever expected—wish I h - Here’s a warm, personable, and I absolutely loved my stay at this little gem of a B&B! The property is perfectly located—just a short drive from gorgeous hikes, waterfalls, night walks, restaurants, and cozy coffee shops. Yet, it’s tucked away off the main road in its own private jungle paradise. The grounds are lush and beautiful, and there’s even a sweet little trail to explore. I was lucky enough to see howler monkeys right on the property!
The staff was beyond welcoming and helpful. I’ve honestly never had such a personal welcome—sitting down with the owner for an overview was such a nice touch. My advice? Don’t book any tours until you talk to them! They helped me set everything up with amazing local guides and gave me way better options than what I found online.
My cabin was spotless, which I didn’t totally expect being in the jungle. The bed was super comfy, the hot water had great pressure, and the blackout curtains were a nice bonus. Although fair warning—you might not sleep in much because the birds put on a concert every morning. Personally, I loved it.
Breakfast was fresh, delicious, and local every morning—definitely something to look forward to.
I stayed for two nights as a solo female traveler and truly felt safe, relaxed, and well taken care of. Honestly, I wish I had stayed longer. Bijagua has way more to offer than I expected!
Highly, highly recommend this place—it’s a peaceful jungle retreat with heart! 🌺
- Andre (10/5): Very nice B&B type hotel in a lovely area - Lovely room
Big bathroom
Good breakfast Nothing
- Eva (10/5): It was a dream and I didn’t want to leave. - Absolutely gorgeous grounds. There are is a beautiful deck to relax and enjoy the wildlife and foliage. There is a small trail on the property as well for a short walk, as well as a secluded yoga deck. I’m drawing a blank.
- Katie (10/5): Amazing! - Everything! Only wish we’d stayed longer. Such a beautiful place surrounded by nature. Fantastic breakfast - probably the nicest I’ve ever had. Room was great, bathroom was luxurious. Highly recommend! It was a great
- Ian (10/5): Wonderful property and extremely helpful owners - Lovely property with excellent facilities just set off the main road so easy to access. The staff and owners were incredible with excellent communication before and during our stay with lots of help and tips. The jacuzzi was amazing. There was a slight mix up with our booking which was easily resolved (with no effort to ourselves) before our stay which took away and worries and the owners and staff went over the top to apologies and accommodate us during our stay. Would definitely recommend.
- Claudia (9/5): Superb - A picturesque little B&B near the Tenorio Volcano Parc. Well maintained gardens in the middle of a rainforest patch even with its own jungle trail. The yoga deck looks out to dense vegetation allowing to spot birds including toucans ! We had a wonderful breakfast while watching the birds and squirrels feeding on banana and papaya and a nice evening soak in the large jacuzzi. Manager Roberto and his team create a caring and welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend and would come back! If you pass make sure you have a vanilla and cinnamon milkshake at the small cabin just down the road and for dinner we can recommend the Blue River Brewery Nothing comes to mind
- Janet (10/5): Comfortable stay on way to Rio Celeste/Tenerio Natl Park. - Lovely room with rain shower. Exceptional staff and plentiful breakfast. The feeding of birds at breakfast provided sightings of toucans and others. Good restaurant recommendations not too far Can’t think of a thing we didn’t like
- Boyd (10/5): Exceptional - The manager was very helpful. Good breakfast on the patio.
- Brian (10/5): For Birders and and nature lovers this B&B is an oasis surrounded by jungle. - Loved the location, the "zen" vibe, the beautiful gardens, the attention to detail paid to the amenities in the individual villas, the fire that was lit for breakfast in the morning on the gorgeous outdoor covered eating space, the delicious and healthy breakfasts, the extraordinary wildlife that was so abundant and made it difficult for me to focus on eating my breakfast lol, the walking path surrounding the property, the approachability of the owners, the friendliness of their staff, their obvious love and appreciation for nature, their surroundings, their community and CR. Proximity to Bijigua and Rio Celeste is perfect. The only thing that could have been better is if there had been a wee bit more sun and a tad less rain, but we take nature on natures terms and we had prepared for rain clothing wise and dry bags etc for cameras. We were in a rain forest/jungle and the rain brought out the extraordinary colours of the foliage. I only mention this in case visitors are surprised by the weather. As a friend once said, there is no bad weather, only bad clothing. Be prepared and this will be an amazing place for you to stay.
- Alix (10/5): Exceptional - Our family (kids, parents and grandparents) loved our stay at Sueno Rio Celeste. Marci and Bryant have put so much work and love into their property and it shows. The casitas have everything you need and the beds are very comfortable. Birdwatching in the morning was our favorite, we saw many types of colorful birds and even a sloth! Breakfast was delicious, generous and homemade. And the staff were delightful. We would highly recommend staying at Sueno Rio Celeste!
- Danielle (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing breakfast. This is a fantastic place.
- Jane (10/5): Relaxing and enjoyable. - It’s a wonderful family-owned property. The owner and staff made us feel very much at home. Birdwatching was fantastic; a flock of toucans flew by twice a day. The breakfasts were the best of anywhere we stayed, freshly made with different juices. The rooms were comfortable and well set-up; each bed was positioned in its own alcove. The unit had a porch with a hammock and refrigerator, and came equipped with some dishes and cutlery. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi. It’s a short drive to Tenorio Volcano National Park and Tapir Valley. We saw tapirs at both locations.
- Pilar (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful and removated Everything was great
- Marek (9/5): Beatifull butique lodge offering excellent customer care - Great customere care - one of the bests I have ever experienced
Nicely designed bungalows
Beatifull Garden
Licated on the hill with the nice view
Very clean
High quality cosmetics A bit too clise to the msin road so you can hear the traffic ocasionally
- Oliver (10/5): outstanding price-value - just everything! amazing how lovely the owners Marcy and Brian created a beautiful „boutique“ style hotel. thst prooves again, that „luxury“ is not a question of big money, its of style and taste.
we had the pura vida bungalow and loved the view and the great bathroom. excellent breakfast was served at our terrasse. very kind staff. thanks to all for one of our best stays on our 3 weeks tour in CR. nothing
- Julie (10/5): We only stayed 1 night (our first night in Costa Rica) but I wished we had stayed longer. It was so relaxing, and felt v - Well maintained, small property (very peaceful) and a great attention to details from the owner and the staff. Warm welcome and very personable staff.
The bird feeding, along with the amazing breakfast, was a highlight of our stay. Super close to Rio Celeste too.
- Jason (10/5): A bit of paradise tucked away in paradise - Super quaint, peaceful, artful, well equipped. “Westernized”. Fantastic gardens, birds, breakfast, yoga stage. Super friendly staff. Hot tub nice post-hikes. Great location as frontier to Tenorio area. Didnt like that we had to leave 😊. We were okay with it but theres no A/C, the temps cool at night and their clerestories and fans help, but be prepared the rooms might remain a little warm — appropriate for the regional climate.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - This property is a gem--my only regret is that we only stayed one night. Marci and her staff are extremely attentive and have created a beautiful oasis in this bird-watching paradise. The breakfast was the best we had on the whole trip. Our kids and I loved watching the birds eat while we had our breakfast. Marci also has bird guidebooks to reference and it is so fun to see 11 and 8 year old get excited look up birds the "old school way" in a book. :) We hope to come back and stay longer.
- Ashley (10/5): Beautiful B & B Wish our stay was longer - So beautiful tranquil Nothing
- Christopher (10/5): I felt I was being cared for on holy ground. Don’t miss this place. - This is a special place lovingly and professional looked after by its owners. You can sense their care for the place the moment you arrive. The grounds near the buildings are beautifully maintained and then merge seamlessly into the natural rain forest around it.
You are welcomed and given a personal tour of the property which is a really helpful orientation.
The cabins are very well designed and don’t overlook each other. There’s good hot water and lovely products.
Breakfast is wonderful taken on the terrace with stunning birds eating off the carefully positioned bird tables.
You can walk around the grounds bird spotting. There’s a lovely jacuzzi and small pool to cool off in. These are kept very clean.
The hosts are around making sure you have everything you need to make the most of your stay.
We used guides from Bijagua Tours for bird walks and they transformed the local area for us. Without them we would have seen some lovely birds but with them our knowledge and sighting of the local birds was transformed.
We were really sorry to leave. I’m almost certain you will be too! Just be aware, it can be a bit windy in the area!
- Alexandra (10/5): Gorgeous property is a great place to relax and enjoy nature - Had a really special and amazing stay here! Every morning we would enjoy a delicious breakfast while watching monkeys and many different types of birds, including several species of toucans. The location is fantastic, we were able to explore several different national parks and the hotel is very close to restaurants and shops in town. The room was really outstanding with so many great touches - espresso maker, wine glasses, bottle openers, outdoor lighting and seating, extra umbrellas, very nice local soaps/shampoos. The staff were very helpful and friendly and we got a lot of great advice on places to hike and where to eat. We had a great time on all of the suggested tours and outings recommended by the hotel (tubing in the river, night hikes, and waterfall hikes). Nothing
- Maciej (10/5): The best accommodation during the tour of Costa Rica. Highly recommended ! - Me and my family spent 11 days in Costa Rica, staying in 9 different places and this hotel was the best I had during the entire trip. Spacious bungalow, very clean everywhere. Extremely nice hosts and a great breakfast with hand-prepared meals. Delicious granola and wonderfully fruity homemade smoothie. And if we add an evening in the jacuzzi, and in the morning a whole lot of birds: ten toucans, chakalakas, Asian caciques (montezuma), a baby or the sight of a sloth with a cub - then if once a year we could give a higher rating than 10 - then the whole my family will even give it a rating: 12 ;-) The best accommodation during the tour of Costa Rica. I would highly recommend ! ;-) Only one night in this place:-(
- Ming (10/5): I will come back - Clean and comfortable, the hotel has a lot of personality, the boss and staff are very enthusiastic, and the breakfast is very healthy
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karin (10/5): Fantastic stay - We loved everything about our stay at this spot. Warm and friendly reception. Comfortable room. Great yoga deck with a view of the jungle. Beautiful grounds. Great breakfast with so many birds just outside our window. Wish we could have stayed longer.
- Ming (10/5): Exceptional - Clean and comfortable, the hotel has a lot of personality, the boss and staff are very enthusiastic, and the breakfast is very healthy
- Ana (10/5): We had an amazing time and were very well looked after by the owners. Thank you! - Stunning place, very well run by Marcy, her husband and their team, beautifully decorated. An oasis of beauty and peace, with Jacuzzi and fantastic breakfast. It can’t be missed!
- Patrick (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing boutique hotel. Clean, modern rooms; great breakfast; and beautiful surrounds. Highly recommend!
- Rhonda (9/5): Superb - Beautiful grounds. The cute cottage stayed reasonably cool, without any air conditioning, due to the windows and cross-breeze. The property owners were very helpful in providing recommendations and information on what to do in the area. I didn’t use the hot tub because it was only lukewarm.
- Christine (10/5): Perfect. Wish we had stayed longer! - Gorgeous grounds, super clean, lovely bath products, helpful and friendly hosts, delicious breakfast - basically everything!
- Kathleen (10/5): The hotel choice of Sloths! - Sueno Rio Celeste had everything we were seeking in the rainforest of Costa Rica: the perfect location for visiting one or all of the three magical volcanoes, a restful sleep after a day of adventure and the unexpected visits of frogs, birds, howler monkeys and flock of Toucans. So relaxing, even a Sloth took a nap there!
- Esther (10/5): An extremely beautiful and relaxing experience with the facilities close to everything we needed. - I loved the beautiful grounds and the close location to the Tenario volcano, and the Rio Celeste river. The owners, Marcy, and Brian, were extremely helpful in every way. The included breakfast was definitely a plus. N/A
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Johannes (10/5): Exceptional - It's a well maintained property close to many activities. The bungalows are clean and cozy.
- Thomas (7/5): Good - Owners were very nice and helpful!
- Susanne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cynthia (10/5): Beautiful and Tranquil Boutique Hotel! - Sueño río celeste is a gem! We loved everything about our stay and would have stayed much longer had we had the time on our trip. The grounds are beautiful and our room was cosy and clean. The breakfast was exceptional with a large variety of items serviced. The owners of this hotel truly care about their guests and go above and beyond to make you feel at home. We most definitely would stay here again! Nothing. Everything was great!

- Karin (10/5): Amazing property and beautiful bungalows - The owners were very nice and accommodating to all our needs. The breakfast was very delicious with locally sourced foods. The pool area and large jacuzzi was great and the landscaping, including the jungle walk on the property gave us the real costa rica feeling.
The bungalows we stayed in were beautifully done and had a large bathroom. Even though we only stayed for a night we would definitely recommend anyone to stay here.

- Michelle (10/5): Perfect boutique B&B near Rio Celeste! - Marci was the sweetest host and made us the most amazing breakfast! The property is very beautiful and serene, and the location is perfect. It started to rain on the day we arrived and there were monkeys in the trees! Highly recommend this property!

- Ben (10/5): Sueño Río Celeste is a wonderful hotel! We would love to return. - Marci and her team go way above and beyond expectations in their hospitality and service. A truly special property. Highly recommended!
- Lisa (10/5): Best place we stayed in our Costa Rica trip - such a great experience! - The place is just perfect! I’ve never experienced so much love for detail, friendly, approachable and caring hosts and a comfortable and beautiful place as this one. The little blue apartment houses are renovated and super clean, you find your own hammock on your porch (I mean how cool!), you have tableware and a coffee machine on your room (including very solid coffee) and even an umbrella. The hosts are very friendly and do everything to make your stay as lovely as possible - when checking in we felt like they were honestly interested in our trip and how they could contribute with local experiences. On top the breakfast is the best we had in our Costa Rica trip and you can spot amazing birds and wildlife while holding a delicious cup of coffee in your hands! I would love to give 12 points if possible ☺️
- Anonymous (10/5): Perfect, relaxing and beautiful small nature hotel. - super friendly and helpful staff. Very organized. We received all information we needed and more :) Everything clean and lovely facilitated/decorated. Perfect for relaxing some days as it is in a quite place in the middle of nature with many birds like humming-birds. Activities/ tours also possible near by (e.g. great chocolate tour and waterfalls). Hotel has a beautiful garden+trail with pool and whirlpool. Free coffee and tee the whole day. Healthy and delicious breakfast. We were also super happy with the yoga/ meditation area and practical shoe wash station. insect nets not completely sealed.
- Jan (10/5): No doubt our best stay in Costa Rica - Bijagua serves as the ideal base for some great Costa Rica exploration. We could easily have spent a week here to hike Rio Celeste/Tenorio national park and add some interesting local sites and parks. Wonderful stay as well with the best hosts, giving us many great tips and service. Excellent breakfast, great rooms. All 10/10.

- Aidlberg (10/5): do yourself a favor, stay there. - it is paradise. every little detail was amazing. the people were as friendly as can be. the breakfast was too good.
- Katherine (10/5): I’d highly recommend to anyone who has a car - the family that owns it is amazing . To say they went above and beyond is an understatement. The property is perfect , the owners are amazing and the breakfast is spot on. it’s about a twenty minute drive to río celeste so you need a far as taxis and ubers are not a thing yet in that area.
- Christen (7/5): lovely, a tad strict - beautiful grounds and cabins. comfy bed & lovely bathrooms. only 1 hour for breakfast?? and from 7-8am?? no one else does that. and I know the new owners are more but a little hovering for Costa Rica. also the husband didn’t even introduce himself just assumed we knew who he was.
