- Elizabeth (9/5): - Lovely staff, amazing location, very clean. You can’t really swim in the pool. I giesss you could but it didn’t seem like a ‘swimming’ pool
- Yishar (10/5): Amazing hotel! - Excellent service and staff. All was clean and the breakfast tasted so good!!
- Jorge (9/5): Very fair deal for the price. - Excellent breakfast and excellent location. Bathroom light not bright enough.
- jamesfJ564DS (10/5): Best Hotel in Granada - It was AMAZING. Great service, food, rooms and amenities. The pool is is top-notch, it’s balcony view is very good, the colonial look is stellar, and the TV, and others are a must for vacations to Granada. The food, and the food, is fantastic, plus the workers at the hotel who work there with passion and kindness.
- Alejandro (10/5): Everything was great!! - Everything was great!! N/A
- Ariane (9/5): Superb - The rooms were very spacious and the location was excellent.
- Anahi (10/5): Very good - Location Poor showerhead
- Capisce (8/5): Perfect location - Perfectly located, just steps from the central square and the cathedral as well as from the commercial centre of town. It is not luxurious but nice and quiet, with its restaurant across the street. The staff is nice and rooms have functioning quiet air conditioning, which is a must. Breakfast is so-so, as only three choices were offered: omelette, American or pancakes with fruits.
- Paolo (8/5): Very good -
- 山田 (6/5): Pleasant -
- Tony (9/5): Great location and stylish hotel - This was a great hotel nothing was wrong
- Nicola (1/5): Bad smell / uncleaned pool - We sadly have had a bad experience staying here. Firstly the pool was covered in some sort of chemical cloudy suds sat on top of the surface across half of the pool, photos attached to explain further. When we asked the concierge what is wrong with the pool, she at first didn’t realise there was an issue, so I showed her and then she changed her response and said it is being cleaned (2pm in the day) and will be ready in 15 mins. The pool remained the exact same and untouched until we checked out at 11am the next day, therefore we were unable to use the pool at all, which is one of the main reasons we booked here to be able to return back and enjoy relaxing in the pool in the comfort of the private hotel after exploring the city. We have a 1 year old and this was necessary for our trip to cool him down - we had to pay elsewhere to use a pool because of the bad state of the hotels pool.
Second issue, the hotel room we checked into had a bad smell. When we initially checked in we gave it the benefit of the doubt and assumed it was outside because the doors were open to the balcony. But when returning after our evening meal it was potent with a bad smell of sweat/BO or something off. It was very unpleasant so we asked to switch rooms. When switching rooms, the new room took 29 mins and then had muddy feet marks all over the floor and shower, and it stank strongly of chemicals. Almost concerning how strong the smell was. But we had no choice but to just stay there as our baby was tired and frustrated with the move already.
I expect a refund for this stay as from start to finish it was unacceptable for a 4* hotel. Firstly not having a clean and usable pool, but secondly having smelly rooms. It’s a shame as the hotel itself is beautiful and the breakfast over in the restaurant was lovely.
- Dorothy (8/5): Very good -
- Parrales (5/5): Passable -
- Felix (9/5): Superb -
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ove (8/5): Very good - The historic style of the building. Nice room. The breakfast was ok, but lasted 45 minutes to be served. Openning at 8 a.m. and serving 8.45 makes the place problematic for anyone who has a timeschedule ahead.
- Marlon (8/5): Very good -
- Landon (8/5): Very good -
- Edward (8/5): Very good - Location, bed, view, space, No coffee, so few outlets, almost none, old smell, tv is old and small, almost no details in room
- Quadraalex (4/5): Disappointed - I feel I overpaid for the experience . I has two rooms , the AC didn’t cool the rooms at all . The mini fridge wasn’t working and the internet is nonexistent practically. They gave me another room and that one has a non working phone so I was forced to the front desk in my pajamas to get help. I found the place depressing . Bummed !
- Ramon (10/5): I RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL LA GRAN FRANCIA - Good Very well
- Javier (4/5): Disappointing - Staff Room, out dated, toilet and shower extremely low pressure. Ac unit would freeze up and make noise. Disappointed
- Penelope (8/5): Lovely hotel, great service - The hotel is quite beautiful with lots of historic charm. The staff was very helpful. our second floor junior suite was bright and airy with a nice little balcony overlooking the street. There was very little noise so great for sleeping. The stairs to the second floor are long because of the high ceilings but they had our luggage brought to our room.
The room was a little too cool for our liking so we finally turned off the air conditioner. I don’t think the remote control actually controlled the temperature.
We were disappointed that the restaurant was not open for dinner but the clerk recommended another place that was excellent.
- King (9/5): More selection on Cable - Location Need more channels on cable especially a wider selection of world news
- Duncan (10/5): got to see the highlights of Grenada because of this wonderfully located hotel. - the safety, security and staff were top notch.
- Fredy (4/5): Disappointing - Breakfast was really good and the staff was really nice and friendly The A/C in the room was not working and they had to come and fix it. Then, the hot water was not working in that room so they end up changing us to another room. There are also some stains that need to be removed from the bathroom and walls.
- Luca (9/5): Superb - Beautiful building, good restaurant, rooms are spacious and with everything you could need. The only issue is the noise of the generator that was in front of our door H24. It is annoying even when you are seating in the courtyard.
- Olivier (8/5): Very good -
- Daniel (10/5): Amazing property just of the city center. Great staff and comfortable beds. Enjoyed the breakfast and the kids loved the -
- Jose (2/5): - Erick the staff member in the main front door was great every time I came into the hotel he greeted me very well and very professional. Victoria of the cleaning staff was very great and wonderful in regards to the cleaning of my room and greeted when ever I saw her around the hotel. However Grepseell one of the staff members at the front desk was very rude and nasty. At one point she spoke to my guest very rudely and nasty. She made it a point to belittle him. I would not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel because this young lady was very rude made me feel uncomfortable staying there couldn’t wait to leave
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The location was excellent! The park across the street and everything else close by
- WhiteMouseBurrow (10/5): Nice place to stay - The hotel is in the old Spanish style, especially liked the furniture and the general decoration. The service meets modern ideas. The cuisine is quite diverse and can satisfy every taste. You can spend a reasonable time here ...
- lynnlear (4/5): Beautiful but disappointing - La Gran Francis is a lovely grande-dame from Granada’s colonial past. The restaurant is wonderful. It is located directly across the street from the hotel. The room was spacious with high ceilings. Unfortunately, the toilet leaked, which I reported to the receptionist, but nothing was done. The door to the patio would not lock, but I couldn’t open it, either. I was not given the correct room and safe keys, so that caused some anxiety, but was resolved within an hour. I ended up carrying the bulky keys with me at all times because I did not trust reception to return the correct keys to me. Housekeeping changed our sheets, but left no tp or clean towels. The property holds a lot of promise, but I could not recommend it currently.
- NesligulD (6/5): Could be the number 1 hotel in Granada with a little effort - Half of our group stayed here and the other half in Plaza Colon which was apparently better maintained. I chose this hotel on purpose because in Plaza Colon, there were stairs and our room here was on ground floor. Very conveniently located just off the main square, very close to the cathedral, this beautiful mansion with a lovely courtyard and spacious rooms could easily be the number 1 hotel of the city. However, the bathrooms floor needed refurbishment although there were no problems with hot water, some clients didn’t like the bathroom. Actually the historical washbasin was a museum piece. With just a little expenditure, the room would change a lot. The furniture was of dark wood. We used the table for our luggage. There was a safe and the WiFi was good. There was also a water tank next to the reception where we could fill our bottles. Breakfast was served in the courtyard of the historical mansion across the street. This house belonged to a infamous historical character, William Walker. Breakfast was typically Nicaraguan with rice and black beans and fruits.
The staff tried their best but they were totally unprofessional and untrained with no English. We had a hard time trying to get a small towel. In principle, they give 2 big and 1 small towels for 2 people in Nicaragua and you have to fight for the second small towel. We usually gave up and used the large one to wipe our face and hands.
- chucksta1964 (4/5): Pass on the Tagliatelle Frutti di Mare - One (1) Uno shrimp. A few scattered microscopic octopi. One dime-sized calamari ring that was over cooked. A lot of carrots and eggplant. However, as sad as it was, compared to other meals I've had in Granada, it was about standard.
- MWH_62 (4/5): Glorious looking colonial hotel but needs attention - We stayed here for three nights as part of our Costa Rica & Nicaragua tour. On first sight this hotel looks like a grand old colonial style mansion with an internal courtyard that is typical for the area. This courtyard is filled with the hotel’s swimming pool.
We were fast tracked through check in courtesy of our tour manager but it soon became apparent that our tour (12 people) was the only guests in the hotel. The hotel staff whilst very helpful had little understanding of English and relied on telephone calls via an interpreter for any dealings. This surprised me with their proximity to the USA which could produce a large part of their future custom.
The rooms were of the same style with a lot of dark wood and a really small walled courtyard area. Although this did have chairs it was not an inviting place to sit out with four walls within touching distance and an aircon extractor fan. The rooms looked stylish but with basic furnishings and you felt you were part of the house’s history rather than in a plush modern hotel.
On closer inspection however you realised that there were a lot of issues within the room that could be easily resolved.
The table light fitting was broken with the switch and bulb fixed only by the wire and moving considerable every time you went to switch it on or off.
Coffee maker in each room but no cups available to make use of it. None available at reception either so we had to borrow some from the breakfast restaurant the following day.
Nowhere to store your case and no luggage stand like most other hotels. We resorted to leaving them open on the floor which would have been ok except for;
The room flooded during the night due to heavy rain. This came through the doors leading to the courtyard and swamped the floor and anything on it. We had to borrow a mop from reception to keep this at bay. Other members of the tour party were also affected and the hotel provided towels to place against the door to try and keep it at bay.
During our stay none of us experienced hot water although after mentioning this to reception via the translator the water was upgraded from cold to lukewarm.
I am aware that tourism in Nicaragua has been virtually non-existent in recent years due to recent political troubles and I believe this may have impacted on the upkeep of the rooms as a result. The staff were very apologetic for the problems we encountered and provided free cocktails at our evening meal on our last night’s stay here as a thank you for our patience and acceptance without complaints. I would have marked this higher if it wasn’t for the hot water issue.
- Lostyeti73 (8/5): Historic hotel in the centre of granada - The hotel from the exterior does not look that exciting but the interior is beautiful, rooms are classically furnished and comfortable and clean, there are many interesting curiosities dotted around the well maintained property, The staff are helpful and the food of a good standard. Was a very pleasant stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a wonderful historic hotel in the center of Granada. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included with my reservation and it was superb. The bed was very comfortable. The room was clean and very spacious. There was good water pressure and warm water for showering. The hotel provided all necessary toiletries. The location is great in the center of the city with easy access to the major attractions, bar, restaurants and the islands in the lake. Definitely recommend this hotel.
- Luis (6/5): Hotel needs to update all aspects of the hotel. - Hotel needs to update all aspects of the hotel. Hot water not available. It was at the ambient temperature. The management was non responsive with requests to change reservation. Frustrating. Rank and file staff were great.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful hotel, super friendly staff, allways willing to help,
- Lawrence (10/5): - it was a fantastic stay, we were upgraded and the room had a view of the Zocalo. The surrounding area has a lot of activity but the hotel has noise reduction blinds
- CaroK39 (8/5): A welcome lunch - Stopped at this charming hotel for lunch whilst on a day visit to Nicaragua. Good food quickly served, comfortable surroundings and a lovely flower filled courtyard - and take a look at the quirky wash hand basins in the toilets!
- GlobalStaci (10/5): Short but Superb Stay - This is a beautiful hotel centrally located in the heart of Granada. We actually stayed in the new building across the street, which was gorgeous with modern super clean and chic rooms. Staff was exceptional and the buffet breakfast was also delish and served in a grand room with colonial period decor and art. Loved it!
- jnino2018 (10/5): EXCELLENT - I was fascinated with this hotel the service was outstanding . The facility was extremely clean all the employees were very polite and helpful . i meet the owner and the stuff and they are very knowledgeable with the city and recommend to my family the best tours, i just want to said thank you guys
- KazSteve (8/5): Tranquil - Had lunch here as part of a day trip to Nicaragua from Costa Rica, after a particularly long day, even by lunchtime, we were ready for a nice meal which we had in very pleasant surroundings. Very old world feel to the whole building with a wonderful balcony where you can watch the world go by. Excellent food but $6 for 2 half pint bottles of local beer was a bit over the top but whilst on holiday etc etc.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Colonial style inn. - Great looking colonial style mansion-hotel. Very good a-la-carte included breakfast.
- arbrebleu (8/5): Clean, Comfortable, Historic Hotel Near Restaurant Row - Excellent location, a block off restaurant row (Calle La Calzada). Quiet hotel, very clean room, upscale bathroom/shower. The breakfast buffet features a chef who makes customize omelettes. Breakfast items include gallo pinto, bacon, sausage, cheese, and fruit juice.
The hotel's name comes from its most notorious French guest, Charles Laure Hugues Theobald, Duke de Choiseul-Praslin, who murdered his wife in Paris in 1847, faked his death, and slipped away to Nicaragua, where he stayed at La Gran Francia.
- glennbabala (8/5): Granada Get away - Very simple but clean and quiet. Close to the main tourist area. Breakfast was very good every morning. Staff were very helpful. Would definetly recommend this hotel and I would stay there again. The pool was much smaller than expected.
- canadiantiger (10/5): Top 3 Grenada’s Hotels - For Nicaraguan standards the place is great. Restaurant, like everywhere in Nica, painfully slow. Self serve bar is WAY over priced. Perfect location, nice staff, great coffee shop. Nice little pools!
- LPettit (8/5): Gran Francia stay - The main hotel is lovely. The pool is inviting, rooms spacious, plenty of bottled water and the front desk is very helpful and fun to interact with. We especially loved going to breakfast across the street. We were greeted each morning with smiles, espresso and top notch breakfast foods. We ate in the garden. We spent two nights in the
- davesheaff (10/5): Great Hotel in Granada - I was with a group of physicians and nurses doing some medical work in Leon. We decided to go to Granada for the weekend. I called La Gran Francia Hotel on one day’s notice and got four wonderful rooms. The hotel was beautiful, clean, included breakfast and very reasonable. We had a great weekend in Granada.
- le_dyp2016 (10/5): I love this hotel - the service was really good, the place was really clean and nice, the food and restaurant were really good, the garden was gorgeous, the péople working and staying in the hotel were really good, in conclusión a place worth returning
- RonF276 (8/5): Old World Charm - Great Location in the Heart of Granada across from Main Square and Park. Close to everything. Room is comfortable and Clean limited To no Hot Water. AC is Very Noisy and Hard to sleep. Front Desk Staff is Help full but had several issues with our Booking with Booking. Com. Would still stay there again in future.
- Don (8/5): Mini-Vacation in a Spanish Colonial city - Lovely old hotel in the heart of the beautiful old city of Granada. Enjoyed the staff, the convenience and the very nice breakfast and dining area.
- Joe (8/5): Great location and staff - Very central location which is great, but also can be dense with traffic just outside. I would recommend this hotel. Decent sized rooms and a very friendly and helpful staff. Had a great driver take me there from Managua...He was simply my taxi in Managua for an evening and I ended up using him to go to Granada and a few other towns. Must use him - great rates, clean car, personable, safe - Raul- 505-8100-1652.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not the "best" - While this was an acceptable hotel for our trip to Granada, the hotel is on the "old" side. Clean enough but older. Room only had a small rocking chair, desk 2 beds and a nightstand. Would have liked to have a "regular" chair. (probably could have asked)
Room was on the ground floor next to a busy street. Courtyard echoed into room so loud guests arriving at 2am could be heard and disturbed sleep. There is a brand new hotel opening in town that I think would be worth a look first, otherwise this is about as good as it gets. Get a room upstairs and in the back. The town is "quaint" but there are many good restaurants and many "excursions" you can take.
- Julie (10/5): Beautiful place with a great location. - We stayed in Granada for two nights and enjoyed this beautiful city. The staff went above and beyond with personal attention. Juan, in particular made sure we were well taken
care of. We had a spacious room that overlooked the beautiful city. The street below was traveled by horse drawn carriage rides with people touring the city.
- Henrik (6/5): Charged room before arrival - We booked the room and specifically
Asked to be charged at the hotel, because
We were a party of 4 with different
Payments.
When we arrived they had already charged
The room to my card.
Worst was they were giving excuse why they did that, when my contract with Expedia said. Payment at hotel.
They said they canceled the charge,
But still today I am waiting for the refund.
And they did charge the room additionally to the other parties.
Really distrustful
- nicarinda (4/5): Totally disappointed - Photos are deceptive! We were placed in the new annex with a room with no windows and Door to main road and entrance on two sides - super loud. Far from charming. Reservation for three included breakfast but had to pay for two. Asked if we wanted more coffee but never returned. Pool the size of a bathtub. No hot water. Nice car park boys. For the 7 years I’ve come to Granada there are many much better Hotel options for cheaper with more charm!
- jairo (8/5): Granada one day - The Gran Francia Hotel It is located in a special area, very close to the central park and La Calzada Street, so you could visit the city by walking or using the famous horse-drawn carriages.
- Josh (6/5): No cold water, staff could not fix the issue - Friendly staff, clean spot and great food. Beautiful architecture and charm.
Issues: No sound insulation between rooms, the inside courtyard or the outside street. You will hear everything.
There was no cold water in the room. Hot water only and that ruined any chance of a shower and made for quick work washing hands in the sink. Room number 4 on the ground floor.
- sergio (4/5): Run down bedsheets and poor quality food - The did not honor my reservation and we had to leave one day earkuer
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Very disappointing overall. The people are nice and polite, clean rooms, but the quality is not high enough for experienced international travelers. This is not a luxury hotel by any stretch of imagination. Way below a Courtyard Marriott for example. Limited services. Ok breakfast.
- Zack (10/5): Beautiful hotel with incredible location - The location of this hotel could not be any better! It is right across the street from the main cathedral and the central square. The hotel staff was incredibly helpful, too. I highly recommend the Gran Francia Hotel!
- Alison (10/5): Great experience - Really accommodating to our needs, so stayed part of the time in great outbuilding really well renovated with great mod cons, and part in the main building fantastically renovated, comfortable rooms, lovely atmosphere and the best possible location in town. Great breakfast in the associated restaurant, which was also great for dinner and chilling in garden courtyard setting. Some quirks: free water which was great, and coffee maker in room, but you only get coffee for first night - go figure that!? WiFi generally OK but better in public areas than room.
- Kathi (10/5): perfect room - The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great and the staff as well.
- Jackie (8/5): Enjoyable stay in historic hotel - I picked hotel La Gran Francia because it looked like an historic hotel near the central plaza. It was. However, on the first night, the hotel sent us to a property they own down the road that is much newer called La Rouge. So if you actually want to stay in La Gran Francia, book a deluxe room rather than a King room. On the second night, I requested a move, which they granted after some discussion. La Gran Francia had a lot more character than La Rouge, and we really took advantage of the nice dipping pool at La Gran Francia. On the other hand, the bed at La Rouge was more comfortable. Across the way from La Gran Francia, they serve breakfast. It was usually fresh fruit, fresh fruit juice, scrambled eggs, bread, and a rice and bean mixture (a Nicaraguan staple). It was convenient, and the courtyard in which they serve it is very pretty. Are there little things the hotel could improve upon? Well of course, but this is Nicaragua not England or the U.S. Granada is a beautiful town, and we enjoyed our stay in Granada and at the hotel. The air conditioner worked really well.
- Toni (10/5): Great hotel and fabulous location - Friendly staff, great indoor plunge pool to cool off after a hot day. Beds were very comfortable. Room was large with good a/c.
- michelle (10/5): Perfect location - Just wonderful. Food great . Location awesome
Staff friendly
Only one thing. They need better blankets in the bed. They are to thin.
- Patricia (6/5): Old hotel in the Middle of Granada Nicaragua - Is an old beautiful colonial house but the maintenance of the basics issues of hospitality is terrible! It does not worth the price! NEVER Try to make a local Phone call from the line of the hotel, they will charge you as you are buying an air plane tkt!
- Verified traveler (6/5): terrible experience - 1) they didn't find my reservation when i arrived
2) hotel hall was noisy all night for 5 nights
3) a cockroach appeared in the shower
4) room had a lot of dust
5) found my room door unlocked during my entire stay (5 days) after the cleaning lady was done cleaning
6) refrigerator was taken out of my room without noticing me and no one knows where it went (hope they dont charge it on my credit card)
7) doors were slammed during midnights
- Tricia (4/5): Room purchased not available - I would not book here. The room we booked was not available. We were told it was our fault for making a "last minute booking." While we did book the day before (probably about 22 hours in advance), I don't see how it is our fault we booked a room that the website showed as available and let us purchase. We were also told that we would not be charged by hotels.com since it was not available and they would charge us a lower price, but that did not happen. (The manager was supposed to send an email to hotels.com explaining this, but I have not seen evidence of this.) So, now I still have to contact the website after returning home from my vacation. They also have two locations, so we were about 3 blocks (3-5 minute walk) from the actual hotel. None of this was clear in the booking. Overall, it was a waste of over an hour of our last day of vacation trying to get a room, and we never got what we paid for. Ultimately, we did get a very basic room and it was fine. Just not worth what we paid.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Hotel - Located right at the heart of Granada,
Charming colonial decore, very comfortable bed.
Good breakfast.
- Verified traveler (8/5): The hotel is nicely located close to the square. - We stayed in the old hotel this visit. Previously we had stayed in their annex. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The staff was helpful in arranging an early breakfast on one morning and a travel breakfast on the other. The court yard is lovely.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Okay experience in Granada. - Hotel was clean and well positioned in Granada. Service at Hotel's restaurant was very slow. We needed to go to Ometepe island and they wanted $70 dollars for the ride there. I found another option for $30.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice boutique hotel in center of Granada - I arrived early after overnight flight and transfer from Managua, and they were graciously able to accomodate me. They were also able to schedule transfer back to Managua at the end of my stay. This is a beautiful colonial building right in the center of Granada
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Hotel and staff - Great staff and very nice rooms. Location was great.
- Pedro (6/5): Quaint Hotel - The room was ok, the pool was ok, the staff was friendly, but the breakfast was the best part!
- Manuel (8/5): Great example of Granada culture - Most amazing part of that hotel was its building structure (many painting, culture objects, etc. Rooms was on excellent conditions and customer service was great!
- Elisa (8/5): Nice hotel close to La Calzada, Catedral Granada - We enjoy staying at this hotel:
- the staff help us with our travel,
- is nearby the catedral, La Calzada
- the breakfast was excelent
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was a very quit place to feel relax, the staff was very polite and kind
- Verified traveler (8/5): There, but for the concierge... - The hotel would have been absolutely perfect if the concierge had not been sexually harassing me the entire time. Mauricio was overly friendly at first, but his advances became obvious and uncomfortable, even though I was sharing a room with my boyfriend.
Otherwise, the room was large and well air-conditioned, the free breakfast was delicious, and the hotel's original colonial charm was exceptional.
Though small, the pool was beautifully tiled with relaxing jets. Unfortunately, Mauricio prevented me from fully enjoying the pool, as he continuously stared awkwardly at me while I swam. That was basically the theme of our stay: totally perfect besides him. Mauricio sucks. The hotel doesn't.
- Patti (8/5): Beautiful old world hotel - The hotel style throws back to early Spanish explorer days, when they were plowing through Mexico, Central America, South America. The one good thing they did is settle Granada into a Spanish town. Located on Lake Granada, hotel dates back as a family home around 1526. The family's kitchens and entertaining areas were across a tiny one way street from the hotel. Both areas have Spanish interior courtyards, one has the original fountain (entertaining area) where the restaurant and bar is located. A doorman is present and the hotel itself removed some of the center courtyard and added a tiled pool, both are open to the sky.The second floor looks down to the pool that has a pergola over it.A grand staircase and areas filled with paintings, pottery and furniture. It is centrally located off of the center park and the grand church on the square. With it's varied history, strange there is no museum.
The nightlife opens up and the street that is lined with outdoor/indoor cafes is Calle La Caldaza, cobbled with a few shops in the area. At dinner time, the street is closed off and the it becomes alive & open late.We took a tour bus from Coco Beach on a tour bus. This is the best way to get to Nicaragua from Costa Rica. The tour bus does all the work for you, bypassing long lines. We got off the tour bus at the first stop and went into Granada by taxi.Return to CR was on a Tico/Nica bus locals use.Nearly two hours in line, hauling our gear in the heat.I recommend the tour bus,w/return.
- Tracy (10/5): Great hotel in Granada - The staff at La Gran Francia were so kind and helpful; the service in the hotel and restaurant was impeccable and the rate was reasonable. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Granada!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - lovely colonial hotel. Better than what we had expected.
- Rinoti (8/5): Hotel location - It was good experience.
- Evelyn (8/5): Nice hotel located in the best area - I booked the room under specific requests (king size bed) and that was not what i got. The air conditioner didn't work properly and was watering during the whole night. Too much noise coming from the street.... first night was a mess for me. The second night ( I didn't have a reservation for the 2nd night only for the first night) the staff offered me to change the room and we were moved to a different side of the property and all the issues where solved. I really enjoyed staying at the property, it is a very lovely hotel indeed.
- travelers (10/5): Beautiful hotel next to the main strip. - Wifi was horrible in our room. This may not be an issue for lots but for us we needed to keep in contact with our kids back at the states via FaceTime. Also, when we would go out and come back after walking in the hot humid climate we wanted to come back to a cool room but housekeeping would turn off ac. This did not happen in the other hotel we stayed at. Not big issues but just something to keep in mind
- Madhu (8/5): - Very nice Hotel and staff
- Mercedes (10/5): Lovely hotel, pleasantly surprised. - This hotel was a wonderful surprise. Lovely staff. The hotel's facilities are very nice and the dining area which is across the street is quite nice as well. The staff greeted us with a smile and were kind and accommodating. A must stay. It was centrally located and walking distance to the restaurants, the plaza, the cathedral!
- Alf (6/5): Quiet and pleasant. Close to restaurants and bars. - Nice and clean. It could have a better tv. The experience including breakfast is good. It is very well located in the city.
- Danny (6/5): Location Excellent but Hotel issues - The best part of the hotel was the location. right next to the plaza and the main restaurant street. Our issues were with the room and hotel. Our room shower had a trickle for a shower with either very hot or cold water and the room mini fridge was broken. We told staff and they told us they had fixed the issue when we arrived but it was not fixed. We ended up moving rooms the next day. That shower only had cold water that night. the next day it was Ok. Another smelly issue was that they had some sewer problem which required them to pump out from the middle of the hotel. we could not use pool as it was next to it and the smell was terrible. They offered nothing to compensate as they said it was not their fault ( "these things happen in old city").
On a positive, the rest of the staff was very friendly and the rooms themselves were pretty
- Verified traveler (10/5): La Gran Francia - Great place to stay!
