Guest Reviews
- Kellaway (6/5): You get what u pay for - Comfy bed and good location. Friendly staff and easy check in Safety hazards - mould in the room on the ceiling
- Elizabeth (1/5): Really bad hotel - Nothing No water in rooms
- Winter (1/5): Bad - nothing the place was run down showers not working broken taps in basen house keeping was bad booking .com should check these places they are the one selling the rooms they have a responsibility to there customers
- Wilfred (5/5): Passable - Water coming out of the tap has smell
- I (3/5): Poor -
- Radim (1/5): Bad - Nothing I had booked and paid for two rooms for two nights. One of the two rooms did not have a working air conditioner, which was unacceptable at temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius!!! Even after several hours, the staff was unable to tell us when the air conditioner would be repaired. When we asked to change rooms, we were told that they no longer had another available room. My friends had to find another hotel to sleep in. When we asked for financial compensation for the unused stay, the staff was not helpful. We only used one of the two rooms at the hotel, and only fully until the second day when the bathroom door got stuck. The staff tried to open the bathroom door until late at night without success. When we asked to change rooms, we received a new room, but again without a working air conditioner. In the end, we had to stay in the original room and go to the next room to use the toilet, which was a huge mess (I have photos of everything). The next morning, when leaving the hotel, we pointed out to the staff that I still had personal belongings in the locked bathroom (shampoo, clothes, razor, etc.) that we would return for. When we later visited the hotel and asked if they had our things from the locked bathroom, we were told that they didn't have them and didn't know where they were. And now to the room review. Mold on the walls, no one had cleaned the balcony for several years, the bathroom was tragic!!!!! The water in the bathroom smelled!!!!
- Luciano (5/5): Passable - staff is really nice, location is perfect no windows, air con reaaaalllly noisy (1 minute noisy then 1 minute still)
- Kayla (3/5): Pay a bit more and stay somewhere else. - Has all the makings of a great spot, rooftop views incredible, great staff and was really clean. Smell upon entering the room for the first time was overpowering and gross - we realized this was from the water (which was brown) and then kept the bathroom door closed the duration of our stay. Bed was very creaky every time you moved. Location was right across from a club/bar so could hear the bass all night. Filtered drinking water jugs on the floors were all hot.
- Mirela (6/5): Pleasant -
- Pirakalai (4/5): Disappointing - location brilliant room smelt moudly, no windows/ventilation
- Topaz (1/5): Damp and shower was unusable - The location was great - on the busy street of El Nido. And toom was quiet. The room was damp, had mould on the ceiling, and in the bathroom. The bathroom was not overly clean, and the mirror was filthy.
I wanted to shower but couldn't because of the water stank of petrol.
Air-conditioning leaked onto the bed, so the bed had been moved into the middle of the room by staff. We were not told about the leak and moved the bed back - only to come back to a damp pillow.
We've stayed in a lot of budget hotels on our travels but unfortunately this was by far the worst.
- Mathew (1/5): Very disappointed/ cockroaches in are room / AC didn’t work / NO refund - There were cockroaches in my room so I said we’re not staying here they checked the room killed the cockroaches with a broom and said they don’t do refunds and proceeded to talk in there language and laugh at me and my girlfriend Filthy room / black mold / cockroaches / unhelpful staff
- Duncan (6/5): Lack of sleep - The property itself is fine The property is next to extremely loud bars and nightclubs that play deafening music until 2 or 3 in the morning
- Vila (5/5): Passable - The room smells so bad
- Marlon (7/5): Good - The location is very accessible. Close to bars and 2-3 minutes to the beach. the staffs are very accommodating, they arranged our Island tour. The water from the shower and faucet of Room 10 smells gasoline.
- Darren (2/5): Very poor -
- Chone (10/5): Great value for money, amazing staff, perfect Wifi, close to points of interest - seamless check-in, very friendly staff, free coffee, wifi was perfect, bed very comfortable and room was big with great amenities. Close to everything you would desire in El Nido
- Ann (8/5): Comfortable great value and a bonus to have a sea view from our roof top room. - The Staff were helpful and friendly. The El Nido beach view from the roof top was lovely and a real bonus as we stayed in the deluxe rooms on the roof top. The staff quarters were located on the roof top and they were noisy going about their business. They seemed a happy bunch but didn’t always consider the clients.
- Stephanie (7/5): Good - I like that it is near the beach front. The staff is friendly but less accomodating.
I feel that they are less accomodating when you check out.
The facility needs extra cleaning specially the corners and bathrooms.
Some part of the facility needs upkeeping.
- Bartosz (7/5): Good -
- Callum (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rafael (1/5): Thieves never give me my room - Thieves never give me my room Thieves never give me my room
- Bruma (5/5): It’s okay but I hope they will clean the vicinity every now and then, I saw a mouse running around the veranda. - Its in the center of El nido very accessible to everything including food, parties, beach I hope they can keep it clean.
- Taylor (3/5): Poor -
- Andy (1/5): A stay away from SG HOTEL - The staff like anywhere in the Philippines are so helpful and friendly The shower was broken, fixed after a fuss, no shower gel or shampoo and after numerous chat with them during my three day stay nothing.
The worst thing was the mould, the room ceiling had been repaired but obvious mould smell when you entered the room but not enough to kill you lol. The worst mould was in the bathroom it was black mould all over the ceiling.
The double bed was two singles pushed together but not a biggy..
The window wasn't a window but a blacked out view of the wall next door 😂
I would never recommend anyone even my worst enemy to stay there.
Thank god I was travelling alone.
- Ruel (6/5): Good hotel. Well centered location for night life. Worth, you get what you paid. - Location, well located for night life. Just in front of hotel. Small hotel but good size of rooms and toilets. Water, although tap/drinking water is all of El Nido's problem, the hotel should provide drinking bottled water.
- Jennifer (2/5): Not clean, bad internet, not helpful staff ok location of you want to be in El Nido town - The property is good the room was quiet ( we had a back room) The room wasn’t clean when we arrived, there was medication/ pill/ drugs from the last occupant on the floor that my children could have found.
We booked a room for 4 people and when we asked for an extra sheet ( as the one they supplied on the bed was too small) they tried to charge us.
They have ‘free’ coffee that was hardly every on when we tried
The shower trickled water. We asked for them to look at it and they just moved the head out slightly
The Internet kept not working. They would tell us it was because of the weather but the other floors had Internet.
We left early!
- Phillip (8/5): Very good -
- Ellen (9/5): Superb -
- Janniss (8/5): Pleasant Hotel near the beach - The hotel is just 2-5 minutes walking distance from the beach, restaurants and souvenir shops. Amazing location and since our room is in the penthouse we can see the beach or port which is awesome. Staffs are really helpful to all our needs. There is 24/7 complimentary coffee in the first floor but better to put complimentary coffee in all floors. No restaurant in the hotel. The hotel is in a great location but needs minor improvement/renovation on their facilities to make guest stay even more memorable. No AC in the lobby. The lobby bathroom is unclean to the fact that staffs sits there and can easily clean it. There are mosquitos and ants in the room. No toiletries and very limited tissue roll. The cabinet is broken. There is power cut in El Nido area but thats because of their municipality not the hotel. Since the location is in the hot spot expect noise and loud music from outside until 4am.
- Joannah (1/5): Dont book .. not woth it for your money ‼️ - Location in the center of all . Expensive all‼️ No wifi, not clean air condition sounds like helicopter . . Toilet was not clean no window . !! No tv !! Extra bed was worst’s - and asking for 700 peso . But on website stated only 600 peso ‼️ very expensive hostel (NOT A HOTEL) ! Not value for the money .
- Bob (9/5): Superb -
- Tricia (6/5): The location of the hotel was okay. but we wished that they've done better with the room. - I liked that the room was spacious. The location of the hotel was within the town premises and just walking distance to a few shops downtown. We also had our own balcony which was nice. We didn't like that the bed they put in the room were 2 single beds moved close together. It was hard to sleep on,especially that I requested 1 double bed instead. The beds kept moving away from each other and we had to push the bed every now and then. It was frustrating. Also the linens of the bed was just a plain linen. It keeps taking off.
- Davs (5/5): Passable -
- Lynne (2/5): The AC kept me up all night and scare me each time it would abruptly get even louder. - Location, spacious room The noisy and abruptly loud air conditioner, which kept me up all night every night for 3 nights. The showers use solar heated water so we had cold showers for the first 2 nights. Then we had some sunshine that allowed us to have a lukewarm shower. My friend had mold in his room. Luckily mine didn’t have mold. The water in my shower stall wouldn’t drain, possibly due to the lack of sloping of the floor. We had a view of a concrete wall for our rooms. I had no tv but that was okay because I had the AC to listen to.
- Wheatley (7/5): The staff were always friendly. - Room 1 is right above the main street which is very noisy for most of the night. The noise
- Daniel (3/5): Poor -
- Nadine (9/5): Great - Really nice and helpful staff. Really central location, the rooms are nice. Comfy beds Some bugs around the room but it was okay. Still a good stay
- Albert (9/5): Superb - Location is great with roof top view and balcony for all floors The wifi in not strong enough inside the room.
- Matthew (3/5): Poor -
- Adriana (3/5): I don’t think it’s entirely fair to charge the amount that they do for mouldy rooms. - Staff were very lovely. Location is ideal - straight in the heart of the town. The first room we were showed into had mould all over. The smell of mould gave us a headache 30 mins into being into the room, hence we asked to be moved to a different one - which thankfully didn’t have visible mould. However, there was still a faint smell of them which we can only assume means that they just painted over the mould on the ceiling. Those rooms with visible mould shouldn’t be opened until the mould problem is fixed! Otherwise, price should be lowered if they’re going to keep letting people stay in them.
- Ernesto (2/5): Very poor - Staff are ok and facilities Rooms, towels and toilets are a bit old.
- Karolis (8/5): Very good -
- Malcomess (7/5): Good - Great location ! All you need for a few nights- greta value for money. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Free water and coffee was an added bonus. Room has a bit of a weird smell and no natural light in our room.
- Moira (6/5): Pleasant -
- Michael (8/5): Heat value for money due to location and friendly staff - Best location Noise of the streets at night
- Michael (9/5): Superb - Friendly and helpful staff
- Susan (9/5): Loved, loved El Nido and if you are looking for inexpensive lodgings SG is great. - Right downtown with access to restaurants, the beach etc. It was pretty basic. Staff were lovely. Good inexpensive place to stay. Nothing in the room but a bed, washroom (no hot water), tv. Staff were lovely and attentive if we needed anything.
- Anders (9/5): Superb - Most of all I liked the friendly staff.
They helped me in every way possible.
On this travel I am traveling alone, so of course I am a little more open to meet now people, so I befriended with Seth from the reception, and Jhapet from housekeeping.
On the last night we met up and sang karaoke together and had a great night.
Overall I'm thrilled with the genuity from all of these guys.
- Rose (5/5): Passable -
- Sharon (6/5): It was okay for a short stay - Location, little patio to sit and people watch This is an old property and it shows in the decor. The first room we were given the tap came off in our hand when we tried to turn on the water and the shower faucet was totally rusted. They moved us to a better room thankfully. They had a water dispenser but water was warm and coffee provided in landing was old and cold and no cups
- El (7/5): Good -
- Geoffrey (5/5): Clean tidy but below expectation refer to the above - Location was good No water TV dont work air con not good
- Andy (8/5): Centralised to everything - Location is on point close to everything eg beach/bar to party if like to party in any case More vent
- Patrycjusz (8/5): Very good - Terrace lovely staff location and coffee No window in the room...
- Deonarain (8/5): Very good -
- Larry (8/5): Very good - The staff and location.
Easy walk to restaurants, beach and tours.
The view from the roof
Aircon and wifi worked well (2 days wifi outage in 20 days but was as expected from what we read about in Philippines.) The nightclub down the road that played duff duff loud music until 4am every night throughout our stay. We even moved rooms but it didn't really help.
The hotel is an older building and the rooms/deco need some TLC but clean and functional.
- Brendan (10/5): Exceptional - Unbeatable location, very friendly and accommodating staff, large patio outside room with beautiful view of the harbor. Lots of stairs to climb, with low-hanging objects that might hit your head if you're tall
- Daniel (7/5): Good - No window
- Beau (3/5): Not worth it - The staff were very responsive and helpful. They maintained the water and coffee stands well and we're easily reachable when we had questions. The hotel is way overpriced for what it offered. We paid for a premium room and barely got a functioning shower. The other room next to us also had the same problem.
- Robert (6/5): Pleasant - Great location Very poor water pressure
- James (9/5): It was a superb stay. If we will have the chance in the future, we will still stay at rnet Hotel :) - The staff are superb, in service, hospitality, i loved it. Over all satisfied :)
- Nazlı (7/5): Good located place - Location is great We stayed one night. No hot water in the room and very noisy AC in the room.
- Charlotte (8/5): Very good - Perfect location, super friendly staff and clean
- Stephen (3/5): Excellent location, but only good if stay is totally budget driven. - Excellent location; friendly efficient staff. Poor quality towels and bed linen. No water in the bathroom in the morning; embarrasing. No lift as a senior had to carry own bags. Very tired decor; in the process of decorating.
- Meloney Blu (10/5): The bad reviews are all crap!! - The bad reviews are all crap.!!!
Location - Amazing ✅
Staff & service - Fantastic ✅
Cleanliness - Great ✅
Electricity/hot water - Fantastic ✅
this is great hotel, El nido is an island in a third world country so expect minor glitches,
The staff were fantastic when you get talking to them, treat them with kindness and they reflect it right Back at you which is beautiful.
We extended our stay for another 4 nights.
Stay in a delux room on the 4th floor. You have a whole roof top to yourself.
- Taneli (8/5): - Tämän keskeisemmältä sijainnilta ei hotellia el nidosta löydy. Siisti huone ja kaikki toimi niinkuin pitää. Erityisen hyvä wifi yhteys sitä tarvitsevalle. Ilmaista kahvia tarjolla 24/7. Vaikka hotelli sijaitsee pääkadulla niin melu ulkoa ei kantautunut huoneeseen asti eli rauhassa sai nukkua
- Bjorn (2/5): STAY AWAY from this place - Absolute everything about this so called "hotel" is terrible. They have no idea what customer service is ! Check in went wrong, got wrong room twice. Room without aircon that didnt work, forgot to clean the room one day caused by "no housekeepers" on duty !
- DetmarRuhfus (6/5): - For starters the room booked wasn’t a seaview as advertised and payed for. Sliding door in the room didn’t close properly so we could hear all the noise from the streets and surrounding pubs until early hours of the morning. Check in went fairly smoothly even though we maid a last minute reservation. Otherwise could have been better for the money spent. Location is in the busy part of town though..
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Air condition was broken
Place smelled bad
Cold shower
Noisy all day
Construction banging on walls early in the morning
Would never recommend this hotel
- Verified traveler (6/5): - No lift and free breakfast. Could have been better.
- Enrique (10/5): - Catherine, the receptionist, was very friendly and went out of her way one evening to find medications for us after all the local stores were closed. We were very appreciative.
- Baland (8/5): Det finns bättre - Helt ok hotell med trevlig personal. Några minus för insekter på rummen, gamla handdukar, och högljutt AC.
Dålig ljudisolering överhuvudtaget.
Nära till allt i El Nido
- Riccardo (4/5): Unprofessional - Staff wasn't helpful, cold shower and never clean the room in three days
- Juan (6/5): - Nice view of the bay if you get a deluxe room on the top floor (4th Floor). Power outage everyday in the entire town. No wifi in the rooms. Wifi is week (all of El Nido). The AC was not hooked to the generator so I was dying in heat. Couldn't sleep. The TV had issues which they couldnt fix. The staff was quite incompetent. Save your money and go elsewhere.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Uncool Room - Location of the building is good.
- Bruno (8/5): - Schade nur kein Fenster dass wurde von andern Gebäude zugemauert.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Ok, value for money.
- Markus (4/5): Necessities? - Wifi and AC are 2 of the most important things IMO. No Wi-Fi. Said was"weak." Needed to go 3blocks to restaurant for Wifi. Fo ac to work well in tropical climate the unit has to push the cold air and bathroom vent fan has to help eliminate hot air. In our case bathroom fan not working. System fail . Only stayed one night which was good. Nice view from 3rd floor over buildings of water. Short walk thru buildings to beach where boat tour launched.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect location! - Rooftop room, awesome view of the harbor. Great location, ceiling fan, however no elevator so we had to go up 4 cases of stairs. Wifi didn't work, bathroom can be improved.
- Lucie (2/5): Worst Hotel Ever! Don't stay here!!!! - The worst hotel we've ever stayed in.
Upon arrival we were "welcomed" by unfriendly girl who took us to the room ( dark hole) . There was no window so we asked for the room with it and we were told that we didn't request for room with window !! So she then said she will find another room for us next day but since that she never get back to us.
The room was very small, smelling like a poo,air con didn't work, shower was filthy and dirty, the bed looked 80 years old and like a single one and mattress very uncomfortable.
Wifi didn't work AT ALL and when we asked staff to do something with that, they didn't care.
We have seen many people complaining about broken shower,no hot water, wifi and milion other things and staff seemed to don't care.
Get ready they switch off electricity in Palawan every day for some certain times and in the room with no windows it's quite big problem.
We would never stay here again, for the price we paid, you can find much much better hotels in the area.
This was a nightmare and don't really understand how someone can rate this hotel positively as this was horrible!
Please take this as a warning and avoid this hostel!!!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Should fix it - To many things to list wifi bad no hot water air con bad no water bad water
- Fredrik (8/5): Nice stay in El nido - Nice hotel close to everything. Helpful staff help booking tours.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Lacking hot water and AC. - First night no hot water. 2nd night no AC. Also, no shower curtain and bed only had thin sheets no blanket.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Decent price and close to everything - Only downfall is they dont have a fridge in the room and the aircon was old and LOUD compare to the second room we got but overall, id definitely come back to Garnet Hotel
- Anna (10/5): Affordable and clean hotel in El Nido - The stay was overall great, only one negative feedback would be that the wifi wouldn't work in the rooms (only in the lobby).
- CCT (6/5): Average at its best - I grade it a 3/5. - I will not return if I had other options. Aircon was not working well, we had to transfer to another room. Not much amenities to talk about. Staff was very nice though.
- Badara (6/5): - No internet acces!!
- Rodney (4/5): Clean but not convenient - To be a Hotel should have a restaurant, when we booking it says have a Wifi but only in the lobby what it says in room even in the lobby it wasn't good. I have a friend/tour guide with me and I'm paying his room, time of check out, I disappointed for charging me 6 percent surcharge on my travel cash card then she issued receipt only for not including the surcharge. Her attitude it so bad when I ask for receipt for the I paid.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Hyvällä paikalla - Hotelli vanha ja likainen. Huoneessa ei lamput toiminu eikä ollut jääkaappia.
- Desmond (8/5): - Wifi is is bad in the whole town , so I can't blame the hotel for that . Otherwise I had a pleasant stay .
- Erwin (10/5): Excellent Stay - Though, WIFI didn't reach our room, we were still so happy with the service that we received from the hotel's staff. Our stay was exceptional. I will come back to El Nido and stay at this hotel again.
- Erwin (8/5): Nice stay.. - We liked the proximity of this hotel because it is really accessible everywhere. Almost beach front and restaurants are everywhere. I am just hoping that the wifi would reach the hotel room and not only at the lobby. It would also be bettet if they would serve free breakfast. Overall, i loved my stay at Garnett.
- Abby (6/5): Great location! - The hotel is located near good restaurants, as well as the port (where most of the tours' pickup points). The staff are accomodating, clean room and facilities but the t&b door's not closing properly and the water supply's quite weak. They also have a balcony w port view.
Overall, I still recommend this hotel.
- Michael (6/5): - They claim on-line to have laundry service - they do NOT.
The wifi is only in the lobby, and it's horrible (as the staffs kids use it up for games).
Couldn't get a signal on the cellular network in the room.
The building looks very new, and is generally nice.
- TALAL (2/5): - very bad hotel
the bathroom was broken
no water
i asked for a refund and they refused
- LoveToTravel (2/5): Hotel is by the beach but you can't swim there! - 1. Even though the hotel is located by the ocean, you CANNOT swim on that beach because it's a boat station, so the water is very dirty and nobody is swimming there. The closest beach to swim in is 15 minutes ride on the tricycle. The surrounding area of the hotel is extremely dirty, smelly, and noisy. There is no walks for pedestrians, we had to walk on the road which is very congested by vans, cars and tricycles. It was a very unpleasant experience. All transportation is filled by diesel so the air is so polluted that it’s hard to breath. 2. The inside of the hotel was clean, TV was working fine, air con was cooling down the room ok. However, the water was barely running, it was more like dripping yellow water. There was no security box in the room. There was no comforters on the bed, just plain cotton sheets to cover at night. Tea/Coffee was available outside of the room. There was electricity outages in whole El Nido daily for hours during which the air con was not working. 3. We left El Nido very disappointed; the tourism in that place is really undeveloped. Even though the nature scenes of the ocean were beautiful, the city itself is very dirty and not upgraded for tourists at all. Also there were a lot jelly fish in the water on ALL islands we visited during islands hoping tours and El Nido beaches. Both me and my husband got bitten by jelly fish multiple time; I just stopped going into the water after that.
