The not good: maybe we just had a bad room but it small, the bed was uncomfortable, and the room, bathroom, and sheets (linens would be an exaggeration) did not feel clean. The hotel is right on the street noisy and parking is difficult (but parking is difficult in all of Montezuma). Also, the room did not feel secure (easy to break into - and I felt like that was a possibility). Wasn't my favorite stay.

Our room was spacious and the pool area is clean and well maintained. Would definitely recommend and plan a trip back!

- Carolyna (8/5): - Hotel El Jardín has a beautiful swimming pool area with lots of chairs and benches to sit on. The pool was clean and the surrounding area were well kept. The receptionist, Victor, was very friendly and gave lovely suggestions to eat and places to visit while staying in Montezuma. He was kind enough to upgrade my room as well. He made my stay pleasurable! I would recommend this hotel, however, do not expect anything fancy. It was a standard hotel.

- Norris (10/5): Monkee watching from the pool - Perfect location on the edge of town. Very walkable. Street parking can be a challenge. Great service. Gabriel helped us make reservations for Paquera ferry. Monkee watching while soaking in the pool? Really? Only negative is spotty wifi.

Room had all that was needed with a useful fridge and nice outside space. Reception staff were helpful and friendly. Pool area looked lovely too, although we didn’t get chance to go in.
- Mark (10/5): Great little hotel, center of town, great staff - My wife and I booked the bungalow about 10 months before our stay, to ensure that we got that little house. Turns out that the hotel was technically closed for renovations, but they kept their word, and we had a wonderful stay. They made sure we were completely taken care of, pool was open, the bungalow was clean and, with fans, reasonably cool, Gabriel arranged all our taxis and our covid test (needed to return to the States) I highly recommend this hotel, this was our second stay

They spoke English which definitely helped us and they arranged transportation for us. The room was comfortable, clean, a/c, refrigerator, and hot water. No TV. The pool was warm and extremely clean. Our room was right beside the pool so we just had to step out our door & relax on a chair or hammock or jump in the pool. The hotel is right in the town so we could walk everywhere - to lunch/dinner/the beach/waterfall...one afternoon there was a bunch of noisy howler monkeys in the trees right above the pool- so cool! Great customer service too!

Gabriel made sure coffee and fruit were ready at 0530 for an early birding tour. We initially had a room closer to the noisier street as they were full the first night. Without asking they offered to move us to a quieter room for the rest of our stay as one became available. And while we were out for the day, the staff moved everything for us. Very accommodating!.

You can not get any closer. If you want the nightlife its perfect. Only tiny critique is that I felt the pool had way too much chlorine and we didn’t have any pool towels however I would highly recommend this place for the exceptional price.

My only complaint would be the weak wifi signal and the flat pillows. I still really liked the place and accessibility to the beach and restaurants. Its also only like 30 mins to Cabo Blanco.
- Sararose (10/5): Hotel El Jardin - Great little spot in the heart of Montezuma, which we could have stayed longer! Clean, basic room & the hotel has a nice pool for relaxing. The hotel is next to a restaurant that plays loud music later into the evening so if you're a light sleeper it may not be for you. The front desk will help book activities if there is anything you want to sign up for. Would recommend this hotel, wish we could have stayed longer!

- Trevor (8/5): Central to city and Beach - Firstly, my Thanks to Ivannia & Gabriel (Reception) for really going the extra mile with helping me with any questions or travel solutions I enquired about, many thanks. Originally I booked a cabin and learned when I got here there were no cabins and was offered a nice new room overlooking the city. A few blips but nothing that wasn’t quickly corrected by staff and security. I have no issues and can honestly review with saying you will have a great time here. No breakfast, cafes in walking distance of 30 seconds, coffee available in lobby at 06:00.

Although there is moderate street noise and the bed could use an egg-crate pad and better covers, it can all be overlooked because of the beautifully covered porch with chaise lounge and hammock. Best place we stayed in Costa Rica. Walking distance to Montezuma Falls, restaurants, markets, beach.
- Debbie (10/5): Great Hotel near the Beach and Restaurants - My party of 3 had 2 rooms spent 2 nights at the hotel. We enjoyed the pool and being so close to everything. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The street noise in room closest to street was disturbing, but by 10 PM everything was fairly quiet. It was a great location to hike to the Montezuma Waterfalls and other restaurants along the road. Would definitely stay here again.
- Stephanie L Shasteen (10/5): A Little Jungle Zen - The service was excellent and very friendly. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. Water was hot. AC was cold. The deck had views of the jungle and the ocean and was perfect for yoga and meditation. I heard (and saw) howler monkeys every morning. Pool is sparkling and refreshing. It's a quick walk to the beach and there are several good restaurants nearby that cater to heath conscious people. There is also a laundry service about a 3 minute walk down the road that returns the laundry same day. I needed a few days to chill after a month of intensive training, and El Jardin was just the place to wind down and relax.

It's a 2 minute walk to the beach and very close to the Montezuma waterfalls as well. The rooms are bare bones, but clean.

Nice lounge area right outside the room where you can watch all the downtown activities.. This hotel was in a great location..The town is very small and has a great little beach. The local bakery has super good food. Everything within waling dfistance. Wish we could have had more time here

Lots of stairs, not a place for anyone with slight disabilities (back,legs). All based on our accommodation they did have units with Ac & closer to ground level but I felt they gave use the worst cabin. Would not recommend to friends.
- Ashley (10/5): Excellent location, excellent staff - This hotel is 2 blocks from the main beach of Montezuma, a 5 min walk to the entrance to the waterfalls and a few steps from many excellent restaurants. Our room was spacious, the a/c worked well, our room over looked the pool with some nice chairs out front. The housekeep staff were excellent as well as all of the front desk staff. The hotel has a security man that sits at the front of the hotel all night to ensure that only guests enter the property, however the hotel is in a very safe area. The pools are very nice and clean with beach chairs for sun bathing. We would definitely stay here again in the future!

We watched white faced monkeys each morning as they moved through the trees. 2 pools on the property. One deep and the other shallow with a jacuzzi. Both refreshing
- Steve & Vicky (8/5): Quaint hotel close to town. - Lovely grounds, small, intimate pools. Our only complaint was the squeaky bed in our unit; every time you rolled over, you woke up. Also be aware this hotel is immediately above the major road in town and the noise of 4-wheelers and motorcycles occur until the wee hours (2-3 am) in the morning on some days.
- Pauline (8/5): Nice swimming pool & jacuzzi but noisy room - The room we had was quite noisy as it is close to the streets where there are lots of bars. No real breakfast available (only coffee and biscuits). Overall we found it quite expensive. However the location is great and the swimming pool and Jacusi are definitely a big adds-on. Ask a room not on the street.
- Scott and Donna (8/5): Charming - This little mountainside hotel sits at the top of the main street of the town. It's neat, clean and offers the basic amenities. The lady that owns the hotel is marvelous! She is helpful, courteous and is very nice. There's no TV in the room, but who wants to watch TV in paradise? Montezuma Beach is a quaint and charming town that has a surfer feel and a laid back atmosphere. Went snorkeling -we had our own equipment and the beach all to ourselves, took a horseback ride to the waterfall, went for a dip and rode back at sunset.
- Carol (6/5): Convenient and affordable - The beach is just a short block away. The staff was very accommodating to extending our stay. Restaurants are within walking distance. It has a nice little pool with hammocks on the patio. Its up on a hill so there are steps or a steep incline to traverse with your bags. Overall a good value and enjoyable stay.
- Paul (2/5): Please don't stay here - I stay at around 30 to 50 hotels a year. This is the first ever I am complaining about... Rented a two bedroom suite with kitchen. The place was alive with insects , termite dust over everything. The toilet opened onto the kitchen , door broken so constantly open .the bed was dirty and the pillow smelt of sweat. The manageress had major attitude when I complained. They agreed to move us to another bungalow but it was one bedroom with no kichen and we had already bought food. Also would not discount us for the move as they said we booked through Expedia ! Sorry to say worst stay ever.
- Emily (6/5): Clean spot, loud rooster - Overall a good hotel. Pool was great, room was spacious and clean. The wifi had poor service and there was a rooster that would wake us up at night and of course wouldn't let us sleep in. Ask to be in a room far from the rooster and with good wifi service and you'll have a good stay. Also the jacuzzi was never warm. The pool was kept very clean
- Jeannie (8/5): Really Enjoyed our Stay - We were actually surprised how much we liked it here. It's in a perfect location, right in the town center, but far enough away from the noise. The pool is awesome, much needed after long day hot and humid walks. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful.
- Colleen (8/5): Delightful. - Stayed here for 3 nights early May 2016. Friendly welcoming service! Someone kindly waited to check us in late after a long drive. Property is gorgeous, laid out such that you don't feel too close to any other guests. There is a very steep walk up to the rooms, which was no problem for us, but might be for some with limited mobility. Awesome pool area! Clean and so pretty. Not a major issue, but the towels and most definitely the pillows could use an upgrade. Hotel is about a 5 min walk to the beach, and surrounded by little shops and delicious places to eat. 10/10 would come back again.

- Bob (10/5): Nice place 2 blocks from the beach - While the hotel was very pleasant, the town is very noisy. Motorcycles, ATVs, buses, and bar music lasting well into the night were very disappointing.
- Alfonso (8/5): Good hotel un Montezuma center - It was a good experience from the beginning, we did check-in as soon as we arrived and the room was ready. The staff are very friendly. I think they could improve the experience by serving a good breakfast

- Verified traveler (8/5): Ok for one night - We arrived from the bus at around midday, and there was no one at the front desk - only a sign saying it was shut 12 until 4pm, despite the booking confirmation saying check in was from 2pm. The room we had booked wasn't available, so we made a complaint and were moved to a room closer to the pool. Definitely get a bungalow higher up if you can. We stayed another few nights in Montezuma but not at El Jardin, as weren't particularly impressed with the overall experience.

- Thomas (8/5): Great staff, perfect location - Clean rooms, working AC, nice pool(bit cloudy, but didn't stop me from swimming in it), friendly staff, perfectly situated from the beach, bars and restaurants. We stayed here for two nights and were pleasantly surprised by the comfort of the rooms along with the early morning coffee served at the front desk. It's about a 9k drive to the reserve and is off the beaten path just enough where you don't feel you're drowning in gringos. I'd definitely stay here again. Thanks, El Jardin
