Nie wieder, vor allem nicht für den hohen Preis.

De cualquier forma en esta isla la ubicación es un poco relativa, ya que hace falta algún tipo de transporte para los desplazamientos El aparato de A/A era una pesadilla de ruidoso, bastantes cucarachas ya que es un edificio colonial antiguo y, aunque estaba limpio, las cucarachas son muy difíciles de combatir. De día es una zona un poco ruidosa debido al tránsito rodado, de noche es un oasis de silencio y muy agradable. En general mal mantenimiento ( luces, grifos, desagües..)

- Hélène (8/5): - Le lieu est vraiment très très beau. Nous avons profité de la piscine tout l'après midi et avons passé un moment très agreable. Le restau au pied de l'hôtel est bon et convivial. Nous avons fait le check in à 14h avec le terminal de paiement en guise de bonjour et n'avons revu personne jusqu'à notre départ le lendemain matin. Aucun staff dans l'hôtel. Très bizarre voire désagréable on ne sait même pas si l'hôtel est fermé la nuit ou si des gens peuvent entrer. Le restaurant de l'hôtel est ouvert mais ce n'est pas le même staff.

- Roger (9/5): Lovely place - Lovely old building. Good friendly staff. Reasonable breakfast. Downstairs bar is a good place to drink and food is reasonable. Swimming pool area made a comfortable place to cool off prior to afternoon siesta! Room was very hot (no air conditioning) at night. But that's what you get in old buildings with no air conditioning! They did provide a very powerful fan which greatly helped us sleep at night.

The pool is a great addition. One of our beds unfortunately collapsed while staying there. The staff did provide us with a new room, so problem-solving skills are 100!

- Christine (8/5): Very good - Lovely old building filled with antique furniture. Good central location in Sao Filipe. Small swimming pool (if chilly). Pleasant outdoor seating area. The owner kindly upgraded us to a room with ensuite, as someone else had been put in the room we booked. Building works going on in the square while we were staying, so rather dusty. Bar/restaurant staff very slow. Lots of the food on the menu not available, so we gave up and went elsewhere. Be aware that most of the rooms have private bathrooms, but these are not ensuite.
- Renate (8/5): I fell in love with the charm of the house. - I was thrilled by living in this old colonial house. The house has such charm! It is located in the best place of the town. What makes the house particularly likeable is that the owner is not some distant capitalist, but is very much present on the premises doing general repair work. Before booking, one should know that there are two rooms with sea view and balcony. They come with the disadvantage of having no adjacent bathroom. However, you have your own private bathroom - just some meters over the hall. Contrary to the description, we had WIFI in the room. There are other rooms with adjacent bathroom, however without balcony. Below the balcony is the hotel restaurant on the terrace. This is also frequented by locals. Friday night, there can be live music until very late. Depending on the number of guests, breakfast is served as buffet or - if there are only few guests - is brought directly to your table. In the latter case, there is not much selection. One should ask - e.g. for omelette. The communication with the hotel before arrival did not work. They offered airport transfer. However, when I sent a message via booking.com with our arrival time and the request for a transfer, we got no answer. We would suggest to equip the rooms with a rack for wet towels.

Very comfortable beds and spacious rooms. Nice to have the swimming pool and terrace to spend time on. The swimming pool needed to be better cared for.

- Mikhail (10/5): The Colonial Guest House - The hotel is old colonial style and lovely. Bathroom is separated from the room. Patio and garden is nice and charming. The only issue here is wifi does not work in the room only outside. The other problem is hotel advertise half board room price but when you check in they inform you that your maximum spend limit escudo 1,200 up to 1,500 which equals to roughly EUR12-15. If you go over the limit you have to pay. That does not make half board. Half board is when lunch or dinner is included without limit. The hotel has to fix this issue as it is misleading and false advertising. Other than that it was nice staying here

Das alte Kolonialhaus hat einfach Charme, ist sehr sauber, gemütlich mit schönen kleinen Pool mit Liegen und tollen Sitzmöglichkeiten. Das Frühstück war perfekt mit warmen frisch gebackenen Brötchen, verschiedenen Eierspeisen, Käse, Wurst, Obstsalat, Kuchen, Saft, Marmeladen usw. Alles sehr lecker und reichlich. Das Abendbrot hat uns auch immer sehr gut geschmeckt. Man konnte im Rahmen der Halbpension aus der Karte wählen. Das Personal sehr kompetent und freundlich. Die Zimmer waren sehr schön eingerichtet, gemütlich mit alten Möbeln und sehr sauber. Das eigene Badezimmer war zwar über dem Gang, aber das hat nicht gestört. Es gab ja auch Bademäntel. Besonders gefallen haben uns die vielen verschiedenen gemütlichen modernen Sitzmöglichkeiten im Innenhof und am Pool, so daß man sich immer irgendwo draußen aufhalten konnte. Die Besitzer tun alles, damit sich die Gäste wohl fühlen. Auch organisieren Sie Ausflüge und Transfers.
- Guillaume (10/5): Au top! - Hôtel et restaurant au top dans une superbe ancienne maison coloniale. Très bon pied à terre sur cette île avant ou après la dure montée du pico de fogo. Petit plus: piscine et terrasse très agréables!

- Bertrand (10/5): Very nice hotel, excellent breakfast - The hotel is very well located, in the heart of the city, not too far from the beach. Wonderful island where we can walk to the volcano. People at the restaurant are vey nice and helpful. High quality.
- Razvan (10/5): Beautiful - Casa Colonial was just beautiful, we enjoyed our stay a lot. The place is very nicely decorated, the staff was nice, breakfast was good and the location was also good in the center of Sao Filipe.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Restored Colonial House in Sao Filipe - Staying in a colonial house in Sao Filipe that has been restored so beautifully provided us with a wonderful base from which to explore Fogo. We stayed one night in Cha and one night Sao Filipe, and are very happy that we were able to do both. Colonial Guest House offers some rooms with attached bathrooms and some without. All of those without have the bathroom located along the same corridor on the back of the hotel, which is un/locked with your personal key, so you do not have to share with others. The room is decorated with photos taken on the island and other more "historic" items, and is spacious and comfortable, for the most part. The swimming pool is a great place to unwind after a day exploring the island, as is the bar/restaurant downstairs.
- Ryan (8/5): Purty Good - The hotel was not too shabby in my opinion. Some of the rooms did not have A/C, but I asked for one and the employee accommodated my demand. What really impressed me is that I was leaving early the next morning and the young lady working at the restaurant prepared my breakfast for me so that I would have it first thing in the morning. Thank you very much Iz**.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very welcoming and well organised - Helga was great at explaining everything, giving us tips about the town and organising excursions/ hikes, matching us with a couple who she thought we would get on with and we did! It also helped reduce the cost. The building is beautiful, retaining so much character, while providing en suite bathrooms (though I understand that is not the case for every room) and a small pool on the 1st floor. Altogether a great way to visit Fogo.
