Guest Reviews
- Derek (6/5): - There was a lot of rubbish around the road leading up to the hotel, equally i stayed 4 nights there was at least one dog barking during the night.. also no tea/ coffee making facilities...the bar was undergoing renovation as was the pool, apart from that the staff were really lovely and helped as well as they could
- Emma (8/5): - Fantastiske receptionister!
- antonio (10/5): Eccezionali in tutto!
- Dino (8/5): - I was here off season so I believe it would have been better during tourist season. It’s a reasonable hotel with nice pool grounds. You definitely want to have a car while here as there is no public transit nearby. There’s a bus by twenty minute walk but it is surrounded by highways. Crystal Cafe was great and Pizza in the mall nearby was fabulous but it’s a dangerous walk on highways. The staff was helpful when I needed something. Definitely have your Italian translator handy.
- Alessandro (10/5): - Staff accogliente, stanza pulita e in ordine.
- Vincenzo (10/5): - La mia esperienza estata positiva personale educato e molto professionale.
pulizia perfetta.
camera pulita e con tutti confort.
- JORGE LUIZ (10/5): Great - Great, hotel, great car park.
- Helene (4/5): Not as marketed. Pool is not included - Estetically pool area looks as the pictures. But you have to pay to use the pool. Every day!! We had never booked this place if we knew this, because there was plenty of other hotels with a pool to chose between. We chose this because it had an ok price with a pool. No one was using the pool area, probably because of the greediness of the owner. Also..the room they called "romantic suite" was a small room with holes in the wall etc. Very bad standard. Not as pictured at all.
- Nelson (10/5): - It is a nice place and friendly staff.
- Nicola (6/5): Sufficiente - Personale gentile, hotel pulito....
- MAURIZIO (10/5): - Camera grande pulizia ok personale gentilissimo
- Verified traveler (6/5): Unhelpful , and very poor location - Hotel Barbarella was not the highlight of our trip. It was partially due to the fact that we booked it not realizing how horribly inconvenient it’s location was, but also due to the very poor service of the staff. We arrived early on our check in day at the airport and called the hotel to try and drop our bags (as check in wasn’t until later in the day) they rudely told us not to step foot on the premise until 3pm even though baggage storage was listed as one of the services. We then got lost and because they wouldn’t help us get there by calling us a taxi we had to rely on another Hotel to help us arrive at Hotel Barbarella. Be warned, what is written about what you get on the posting is not correct. You will have to pay 12euros per person to use the pool and apparently if you book a quadruple room and that is what is listed you will not be getting that. Finally after an hour of arguing they did give us a second bed. I would not recommend this hotel. The hotel itself is nice and comfortable but we ended up not staying our second night. It’s truly near nothing and in a very gross part of Naples. Wifi is also terrible.
- Jody (10/5): - When I booked this hotel, I hadn't realized it was so far from the city center of Naples and there was a taxi strike.
At the hotel, being that I couldn't get around easily...I found the beauty in the Barbarella hotel.
This hotel is cute. The staff was an absolute pleasure and without them...I likely would've been grumpy for the fact I was having a hard time exploring.
At the front desk, Francesca was a gem. She helped to organize some rides into Naples and to a distant train station. With pick up. She speaks great English too so this helped my trip. The rest of the staff were very accommodating, except the pool guy...lol... always has to be one... am I right?
Barbarella has a mall close by, the Karibu Beach club was a lot of fun. There's a grocery store, tobac and a really nice restaurant close that is called the CRYSTAL. Also lovely staff.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Wrong Address Given, Terrible - The stay overall was an absolute nightmare, it took ages to get there from the ferry terminal in Naples, with a very awkward bus and train journey.
The train dropped us off close to the address we were given which was in the middle of no where near to a highway.
The address given to us then turned out to be the wrong hotel.
Hotel Barbarella turned out to be a 10 minute drive away and we were not able to walk because it was next to a highway.
Luckily the staff at this hotel were helpful and arranged for someone to pick us up and take us to hotel barbarella, but this wouldn’t be for another hour and would cost us €20, which we didn’t have because it was the end of our holiday, this meant me had to drive around for over an hour to find a cash machine that was open.
After eventually finding one we were taken to the hotel and because of how long it had taken us to get there we were not able to get anything to eat.
It was then a long journey to the airport which was a surprise as the hotels.com website said that it was close to the airport, this cost us another €40 from the same person who took us to the hotel.
All of this was a disaster which was caused by being given the wrong address. Which we blame more on hotels.com than hotel barbarella itself.
The room was actually nice but the stay was a nightmare.
I hope that hotels.com make a change to the address asap.
And are willing to reimburse me for the extra money spent.
- Halston (10/5): - The staff was very accommodating. The parking was very easy. The room was spacious enough to open and resort our luggage. The main street is divided so if you miss your turn it is a hassle to get back.
- Jane (2/5): - Location is awful, wifi is terrible and constant noise where you can hear everything all hours of the day. Had to wear headphones most of time to drown out the noise. Staff walked into my room without knocking.
- Camile (6/5): Solo traveller wanting to tour Naples - Good but difficult to get around if not driving can be costly especially if regular taxis are used (traveling from the airport to the hotel). So consider this when booking. Maurizio (works at the hotel) was very good and accommodating and helped reduce my cost to get around.
The room is spacious, clean and there is a balcony.
- Donatello (10/5): I give it a 9 - I loved it and it was super comfy. Other than the guy told us that we can't use the pool unless we pay 10€ it was a great stay.
- gafaell (10/5): Excellent hotel for visiting Campania, Napoli, Vesuvio, and Amalfi Coast - Very good atmosphere thanks to good service. Thank you Francisco, Frank and Giuseppe for your attention. Good swiming pool. Everything clean. Quiet. Free parking.
We do recommend this hotel if you want to visit Campania, Napoli, Vesuvio, Amalfi, etc.
Will try to come back next season.
- Lucy (10/5): - Wow was I pleased the hotel
Staff went above and beyond for me
And my friends the facility was clean the staff super friendly. They were knowledgeable, about different attractions they made recommendations based on what we wanted to do. I will
Forever miss the hotel
And the friends that I made with the staff!
- CNSchoolMatters (8/5): Friendly hotel, lovely staff, great pool! - We arrived at this hotel at short notice as a family of 5. We were made to feel very welcome. The staff were all very friendly and took their time to offer advice and help about the local area and places to eat, things to do. Our rooms were kept spotlessly clean throughout our stay.
The pool is lovely and has a poolside bar that serves drinks and snacks all day. You can also order lunch to eat by the pool which we did a couple of times. This was great!
You really need a car to stay at this hotel as it is set back from busy road (you would not know this when you are sat by the pool) and there is very little to do in the vicinity. However, we used it as a base to see Naples and Pompei, Vesuvius and even Rome are accessible as day trips from here.
- U993NKmariak (10/5): 1153 Budapest - Great hotel with really friendly staff!! Always helpful!! Beautiful clean rooms and pool area! Definitely recommend it. As others have also said...you need a car if you want to get around. Shopping center within walking distance, but nothing else really. Pozzouli is few minutes by car, which is an absolute must see harbour. Naples airport around 20 minute drive.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The rooms were clean and the staff was extremely helpful. Gianluca at the front desk helped us out a lot with directions and site suggestions. The only problem we encountered was that there was very poor wi-fi service on the second floor.
- Margaret (10/5): Home comforts outside of Napoli - Wonderful family operated hotel. Friendly & helpful staff, lovely room & pool, next to fabulous restaurant Francisco’s. Nice place to stay away from the hustle & bustle of big city.
- Margaret (10/5): Terrific place to retreat to, away from the hustlN - I loved Hotel Barbarella so much, I extended my stay. The pool was relaxing, quiet & lovely. The family operated hotel was staffed with kind, generous, hospitable handsome Italian men😘 San Francisco is the owners son & is most helpful, besides Frank & Luigi? The next door restaurant Francisco’s recommended by Frank was exceptionally tasty cuisine! Spacious room, tidy, clean made my stay so comfortable😍 As we say in Hawai’i mahalo nui loa thank you so much😇
- florencia (8/5): Very nice hotel - 20 minutes in car more or less from napoles, is located close to the highway. The room was very nice and confortable, the only thing that could change would be include the breakfast with the price. However, is recommendable !
- James (6/5): Emergency accommodation - Nice and clean lots of stairs very noisy outside and inside hardly slept but staff were very helpful
- lynnolivew (6/5): Our visit to Naples - We booked this hotel thinking it was a lot nearer to naples than it was it is lovely and immaculately clean the breakfast was very basic and the Italian pop chanel was on whilst we were having breakfast
There was no English tv channel not even BBC News the staff are friendly but sometimes struggle with English
It's is in a bit of an industrial run down area but is only 5 minuets from the main motorways so it is ideal to use as a stop over as it also has a small swimming pool for a weary traveler to take a break
- Astrid (8/5): convenient and friendly hotel - we came back to this hotel because we were very satisfied with our previous stay. A great base to visit Naples area
- Astrid (8/5): convenient, friendly and clean hotel - Hotel Barbarella was a convenient, friendly and clean hotel, this in contrast with the dirty enviroment of Napels. The terras, garden and swimming pool are great assets.
- AndrejBB (10/5): Excellent and very clean hotel. - Hotel is located out of Naples, so you need a car to travel around, but there is a big shopping centre nearby and it takes only 20-30min to get to airport or Naples. Free parking is possible on hotel parking place.
Hotel staff is very nice and helpful giving you many tips where to go and what to see. Breakfast are always sweet and become boring. I hope they will change it in the future and offer some eggs, ham, cheese, etc.
Rooms are new and extremely clean, beds are very comfortable, wifi is free. We were just missed more wardrobe and shelfs. There is also a very nice pool behind the parking place with lot of sun beds and sun shades.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Awesome place far from central Naples. Staff was helpful!
- Joss & Jerry (10/5): Excellent Hotel - Location Not The Best - This is an excellent hotel with a great swimming pool and amenities. The staff are very friendly and accommodating and very helpful.
The rooms could be improved by providing a fridge to keep drinks in during your stay. We also found that our shower tray didn't drain so evey time we showered the floor in the bathroom got flooded. We put a hand towel down to soak up the water but this got drenched each time we both used the shower
- Nick (6/5): An Oasis! - Though not in the most hospitable area, the hotel is an oasis in this urban jungle. The accommodation is very comfortable and clean, the pool area is well maintained with plenty of son loungers etc. The breakfast buffet and menu for lunch/ dinner is somewhat limited but tasty, the restaurants in the area are limited and you really need a car to get about to see and try various foods and sights. The staff are really helpful, but there is limited tourist info at the hotel. We had a good time, very relaxing around the pool.
- DashRawks (10/5): Everything we wanted plus more... - Me and my partner can not fault the hotel Barbarella. We can fault its location but this will not prevent us from giving the hotel anything but the 5 stars it deserves. As I said previously the location of the hotel is far from ideal. It's quite far away from Naples and there is no clear way of getting into the city via public transport. Also the area surrounding the hotel is quite run down. BUT DO NOT DESPAIR!!! This hotel is like an oasis in a searing desert. Once you get there the friendly hotel staff will take your bags to a very modern beautifully air conditioned room with a MASSIVE BED! We stayed in the apartment complex and had a balcony overlooking the pool and a shower that run beautifully. The pool is nice and clean and perfect to dip in and lay by. Overall the hotel and it's amenities are very very good. Then there is the food. My god, the food. The Hotel Barbarella is family run and the food they serve to you is not only reasonably priced but also made, prepares and served like you're part of the family. The pasta dishes are exquisite with mine and my partners recommendation being the sausage and fresh tomato pasta. Never has my mouth tastes such perfection! To follow that on we had chicken breast and white wine cream sauce. Just superb. My only regret is that I'll never be able to make pasta dishes that good at home. Drinks are cold and reasonably priced too! It's also worth pointing out that the hotel restaurant is closed on Saturdays and Sunday's but don't dismay because the hotel are more than willing to call a local take away and have food delivered to you. We were recommended a pizza sandwich by Valerio and my god the thing was huge and delicious! Well recommended! Amenities and food aside l, you'll probably want to explore Naples as it is quite a fascinating little city. Like i said earlier in the review there is no major public transport to get you into Naples however is all is not lost because for a very generous fee the staff will drop you off and pick you up at the the local metro station so you can ride into the city and explore at your own pace. Our driver for the majority of the trip was Carlo who was very friendly and funny but be warned, Italian driving takes a while to get used too! That being said however, we never felt like we were in any danger. As a side note for anyone reading this do yourself a favour. DO NOT GET A CAB TO THE HOTEL FROM THE AIRPORT!!! It cost is €80 for a 15 minute drive to the hotel. Instead ring the hotel and see if they can pick you up it'll be a good chance to sit and enjoy your first gelato whilst you wait. So the hotel had everything we wanted so here is the more...
The more comes in the form of the hotels mascot and pet, the sweetest little Labrador called Trilly! And what a sweetheart she is/was if you're a dog lover you can't help but fall a little in love with her like we did!!!!
It's safe to say that our stay in the Hotel Barberella was a memorable one for all the right reasons! Great room, delicious food, extremely friendly and helpful staff and the icing on top of the cake (Gelato?) Trilly the Labrador! Thanks again for having us it's been a pleasure!
Vincent and Keeley!
Edit: I forgot to mentioning superb job the cleaning staff do! They made sure that every evening we came back to a beautifully clean room!
- Kerry (8/5): - Great service from staff, pool and room lovely, but not an area of Naples you would want to explore. We stayed over night before flying home and it was perfect for this.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Friendly family owned hotel. - I only stayed two nights but it was friendly and comfortable.
- tanjam947 (10/5): Great hotel - Me and my husband returned a week ago from our vacation at your hotel. Hotel is small, family run and very nice. The owner and the staff were so welcoming, friendly, helpful and nothing was any trouble at all. It's about 15 minutes from the metro station to Naples, but there is a hotel transfer that will take you to the station at any time.
Rooms were very spacious, cleaned daily, with clean towels and beds made.
The pool is excellent, clean and with plenty of beds.
Wifi available all over the hotel area, not just the reception, but also in the rooms and pool area.
The owner will explain you detaily what to visit and how to get there.
If you want either a break by the pool or just a base for touring than this is ideal hotel.
Tnx and hope to see you again some day, Tanja & Marko
- Skl4 (10/5): Excellent - Can't recommend this hotel enough, stayed here for 5 nights, this is a family run hotel in a province of Naples, probably better for those who have a car but if you don't there is a hotel shuttle that for a small fee can take you to the metro which is €1 into Naples or to and from the airport which is cheaper than getting a taxi.Staff are very friendly and trustworthy and go out their way to accommodate you and also have a gorgeous dog trilly who is the hotel mascot.Adolfo the owner will recommend where to go in Naples and let you know how to get to Pompeii, sorrento and Capri. The hotel and rooms are spotless, the pool and grounds are lovely and you can enjoy delicious lunch or dinner served on the terrace by the pool which was delicious and different every night.Breakfast is pastries and coffee and is only a short 10 min walk to the auchan supermarket and mall also.
Thankyou very much to Adolfo and family and staff-John and Stephanie
- John (10/5): Superb Hotel and excellent staff - We stayed 5 nights and the hotel could not have been better. Friendly staff who went out of their way to make us feel welcome and a very relaxed atmosphere. The pool was quiet and very well kept. The food was so good we ate at the hotel every night. When we wanted to explore they helped with getting to locations by offering the hotel shuttle to the local metro station. The family who run this hotel and all the staff are very approachable and have superb English which was handy as my Italian is somewhat limited. The hotel is about 40 minutes drive from Naples but this means it's convenient to get to the West coast or relax away from the city. The hotel is very peaceful and dining by the pool in the evening as the sun set was very pleasant. Overall we would 100% return as an experience this was one of the best holidays we have had and we're very sad to leave.
- Curiosity593347 (8/5): Great bang for the buck - Very accommodating staff, rooms are nice pool is great, the area is a bit sketchy if it wasn't for the area it is a definite five. I would definitely stay again. It's an hour or so to sorrento mt vesuvius is close as is positano.
- MelissaGalluccio (10/5): Perfect room - I stayed here in the big suite I loved the jacuzzi which I found relaxing after many hours of driving and coming from 4 days of Cuban latin dance convention my body was sore from dancing so much. The room was clean and there was no noise I slept well here. The room was big and so was the bathroom it was very comfortable and I liked the decor too. People that worked here were very helpful in helping me find this place my gps wasn't working properly and Internet on my phone want working either to get gps there. They also recommended a place to eat which had very good food and I was able to find easily. They have a big pool I wish it was warm enough for me to use it but it wasn't. It's right in front of the rooms. I would car back here again if I'm I this area of Italy. Great place to stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely hotel - if you have a car! - The hotel was great and the staff were incredibly helpful. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone with their own transport, because the location is difficult to get to and there was only one restaurant within walking distance.
- sonnybella (10/5): Beautiful hotel with amazing staff! - My group stayed here for two nights in early Dec. We all were so pleased with the hotel rooms and staff. Gennaro was so accommodating and kind. The breakfast was great, the rooms spacious, nice bathrooms, beautiful views overlooking the pool, a cute friendly dog on the grounds, and the most efficient maids ever! Our room was so spotless and clean, she even folded our dirty clothes. I can't wait to stay here again when I visit Napoli next year! Thank you Hotel Barbarella!!
- nelsonxxl (10/5): Gem in the city! - We booked a two days stay, wish we booked a week instead. We drove there all the way from Rome, we felt like it is a little heaven when arrived, hotel haas been fully renovated and tastefully decorated, room was huge compare to most of European hotels. Adolpho and Gennaro are incredibly welcoming and just make you feel at home straight away, and special thanks to his family that helped us. So sad that we just stayed there for two nights, I'll definitely come back next time in summer !
- Alana (6/5): Location, location, location - This hotel is run by a kind, well meaning couple who are keen to help ensure you have a pleasant stay. The hotel was recently renovated and is immaculately clean. The rooms are large, although a little sparse furniture wise. The air conditioning works very well as does the wifi. The breakfast is a little on the simple side and when we stayed the hotel restaurant was not open. I don't recommend eating at the pizzeria around the corner. You really need a car if you are staying here as it is a fair way out with easy access to the autostrada for day trips. That being said I suggest you use your vehicle and drive about 15 mins to Da Salvatore pizzeria in Parete who are excellent quality you can get take away or eat in. You can find them on trip advisor.
Things that were a little annoying: the beds are very uncomfortable and there are no additional pillows or blankets. I guess if you ask these would be provided. The pillows are also quite old and mishapen. In our bathroom we had a detachable shower head that was very inconveniently located next to the bath tap so you have to hold the shower head in your hand the whole time.
All this being said, we are finishing five weeks in Italy and Naples was by far our least favorite place. It is filthy, over crowded and has a high crime rate. This hotel has good security though. If you want a base this hotel is great for that as everything is easy to access.
- Traveler (10/5): Nice place to stay in Naples - The Hotel is very well maintained.. the staff is amazing... they provided everything we needed.. including tourism indications and advice. The Room is confortable with a nice Balcony to the Pool Area. It is only 30 meters to the Highway entrance which puts you in the road fast enough
- prenterf (10/5): Hospitable italian experience - This hotel was an amazing find! This is a family run hotel and the family make you so welcome, you feel like part of an extended family. The rooms are perfect, the staff are completely trustworthy and the meals are good, fresh, home cooked meals. To say they are just like mama made, would be true, as they are lovingly prepared by Mama and Nonna. If you are driving, there is parking. If not there is a shuttle service to both the airport and local metro. This is an oasis, perfect for a much needed break.
- Verified traveler (10/5): amazing find - Absolutely brilliant, service was amazing and hotel top notch, a little haven if you're looking for somewhere out of town. The family make you feel at home and can't do enough for you.
- MasiaSumidors (10/5): Bellissimo! - Amazing find....booked last minute wanting to stay on the outskirts of Napoli, the main road on the way is slightly scary (both the driving and it looks like an industrial area) but is a little haven when you get there! The hotel has been fully renovated and is absolutely immaculate, it's decorated very tastefully and the rooms are spacious, the pool area is also beautiful if you just want to chill out and relax. Adolpho and his family are incredibly welcoming and make you feel at home straight away, we arrived when the restaurant was closed (food is amazing) and later found out we'd eaten his dinner!! They also do transfers to/from the metro, from there 10 minuted and 1€ and you're in the centre of Napoli. So good we decided to stay an extra night, just wish we could stay longer!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Unexpected Delight!!!! - A lovely hotel that goes out of their way to accommodate you. The hotel is incredibly well kept, the pool is lovely. An unexpected gem in an area where they are few and far between.
- sharren (8/5): barbarella hotel - lovely hotel, the owners and staff made us feel very welcome like part of the family. great service could not do enough for us . highly recomend staying here.
- Laurenths (10/5): Beautiful - Worth every single penny. We stayed here for just two nights and it felt like home! The owners offered to take us to Naples for the day and Droped us to the airoplane in the morning in the Italian traffic rush. This hotel is honestly beautiful, very well run, tidy, decorated with a lovely team. They even picked us up a take away and droped and collected us from shopping centre. We felt very welcomed, relaxed and Lot safer being away from Naples centre. This hotel is a must go, if you stugGle to understand then use the translater on the computer. A must go hotel!
