Guest Reviews
- Jean (7/5): I liked the location and helpful staff. - I picked this hotel for its location, all the must-see sites are within walking distance from the hotel. Helpful staff and quite area. There´s a narrow street leading in to the hotel, so if arriving in a minibus, you might have to walk a few meters. (Shouldn´t be any problems really).

- Rachel (10/5): - The staff couldn't have been any more friendly and helpful. When the wifi was not as strong as I needed it to be for my work, without another word they found an even nicer room for me, with excellent wifi. It was quiet and well-appointed and I couldn't have asked for anything better, particularly at the bargain price. I highly recommend G2 for the budget traveler. And the garden is lovely. They have FISH!
- Yasuhiro (10/5): - It was great staying here. Thank you.

- Matthew (10/5): - I would come back to chiang mai just to visit this place and its amazing staff. They treat you like family and welcome tou with warm hearts.
- Geoffrey (10/5): - Great staff and location, it's located in the old city and it is easy walking to get around, very quiet location. recommend
- Catcat135 (10/5): Wonderfully Comfortable & Amazing Price - I stayed 8 nights in a “superior” room on the top floor, and although this is not a big, fancy hotel, it’s a very comfortable room for the price. The room was spacious (quite large for a solo traveler) and the refrigerator was the largest I’ve ever seen in a hotel room. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful during my stay, which made my time in Chiang Mai more enjoyable.
The location is excellent, within walking distance of markets, 7-Eleven, cafes, restaurants, massage shops, and temples.
Some people may find the shower a little small but it was big enough for me. The room was dimmer than I’m used to, but it’s easy to fix by just opening the curtains to the large glass sliding door.
I really enjoyed waking up to the sound of birds in the morning and the sliding door/window lets in beautiful sunlight during the day. The bed was very comfortable and the air conditioning was effective and quiet.
There isn’t an elevator but the staff were so kind to help carry my luggage up and down the stairs for me. This is the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in within this same low price range, and I’d return on my next trip.
- Suwit (10/5): - My second time stay here and still love its quiet charm about the place.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice looking hotel, service offering could improve - On first arrival room spacioys and looked nice....then things went downhill...kettle missing, had to go to reception, they struggled with englush so took a while, and told i could use a kettle in kitchen and next day i would get one...so next day i got given to use the kettle i used in kitchen when i went back into reception....ok...bed ok, bathroom well equipped. Asked if i could have some breakfast, no...had to order night before, not told before. Back from touring round town room not cleaned, wasnt too bothered, but would have liked toilet bin emptied due to no paper in toilet, but ok....no new tea or coffee...so back to reception, took over 5 min to explain, then still not given what wanted but sufficed...next day out again, back into room...still not cleaned. Was last night and i didnt feel like a ten minute discusssion over google translate so gave up and went to bed. Checked out and left luggage with reception whilst did last tour. Came back and wanted to order a taxi...not difficult, oh yes it was...again person struggled to understand taxi, then took 10min understanding where the bus station was on map, then went outside to find ride and checked price ok, only coming back to say not available now, did i want to book a taxi ( yes been trying to arrange for 10min!)...so by this stage i had had enough and just walked away as didnt know how long one would be...got a red bus on main road to take me for half price given by hotel. So good first impressions, left soured
- Olena (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, comfortable stay, nice people
- Milt (4/5): - No evevator. Nearly no hot water ... warm ar best. No room safe ... had to have one brought to room for large deposit. Neighborhood was rather a "Dogpatch". Had to walk over a block to get any transport. At least 2 rides could not find the place. TV did not work near as I coild tell. Nite attendent spoke no English. No matter what you read ...breakfast is not included.
- Ulf (10/5): Chiang Mai en upplevelse - Mycket trevligt hotell i gamla staden. Lugnt å skönt men bara några minuter från restauranger , barer mm.
Man bestämmer själv vilken frukost man vill ha.
Stor frukost med frukt, kaffe, yoghurt ägg bacon mm.
- Caroline (10/5): Great for a stay in the city - This is s small and very comfortable hotel set in a quiet part of Chiang mai but in walking distance of the main areas. The Staff are all delightful and so willing to help. We had a lovely freshly prepared breakfast. A great place to stay.
- alvinf2013 (10/5): Clean, comfortable, convenient - This small hotel is convenient for the attractions of Chiang Mai, has very helpful staff (one drove us to the airport as no taxis were available-very busy with the festival taking place) and provides a tasty and plentiful breakfast
The room had a large comfortable bed and aircon which helped us get a good night’s sleep
- Kali (8/5): - Cute little hotel, very basic. Can walk 15-20 minutes to fun areas of the Old City.
- Erki (8/5): Very good -
- William (8/5): - Awesome
- Matthew (10/5): - This place is incredible. I just l9ve the hotels beauty and contemporary design mixed in with natural nature.
- Garry (10/5): - The Room was as advertised.
I received no further upgrades.
- Matthew (10/5): - Beautiful veiws put the window in any direction. Insta worthy
- Matthew (10/5): - Everytime i stay here i feel like im at home. Everything is so perfect. The staff treat me like family and I csnt even begin to explain how wonderful an area the poace is located in. Just down the road has the bicwst most beautiful person ive ever met at sweet home cafe. And all the other amenities needed to live in Thailand are located with less a minutes walk
- Henry (2/5): - This is one of the most terrible hotels I’ve ever been to. I don’t know how this hotel has such high ratings. The room itself is ok, but the bathroom makes me want to puke. The toilet is stained, the shower is disgusting, and the window is falling apart. The room is also infested with mosquitos. I would not recommend staying here.
- Norris (10/5): - Very nice staff. Location makes you feel like you’re living like a local
- Suwit (10/5): - Small and cozy boutique hotel. Just like being at home in an authentic local neighborhood.
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Matthew (10/5): - The staff at thisbokace make your experience one of a kind. They are super helpful and friendly and go above and beyond to make your trip to Thailand very special and memorable.
- Matthew (10/5): - I just love it here. There's something so special about thisnplace and its so beautful at all hours of the day. Very majestic.
- Matthew (10/5): - This is by far the best place Ive stayed in all my travels. The place is beautiful and has everything you need in the area to make for a great travel and living experience. The staff is incredibly helpful abd very friendly and welcoming . Everytime I return its like coming home to family. I look forward to going back everytime I have to leave.
- Matthew (10/5): - This hotel is honestly the best in Chiang Mai. Everywhwre Ive travelled in the past year i always wish to come back to G2. The family environment the staff brings is just amazing. The friendliness and the warm of the people in the area draws me back. I cant deacribe how beautiful this place is.
- Matthew (10/5): - Honestly. Theres not enough word to say how amazing this place is. Staff are incredible and you have a real family atmosphere. the area is full of magnificent families that treat you like their own. I cant wait to come back. Id plan a whole trip around jist staying at g2 boutique.
- Matthew (10/5): - Its honestly like being with family. Everone here is so warm and qelcoming and helpful and really go above and beyond to make your stay special. Ive been to so many places around the world and G2 always has me coming back.
- Matthew (10/5): - I NEVER WANT TO LEAVE. This hotel honestly is so unique not only for its design and layout but for the experience it provides right near all the best parts of Old City Chang Mai. You can always depend on the staff should you need anything from guidance to poaces to go see and and eat in the area. Its truly a remarkabke place set above all else.
- Matthew (10/5): - I LOVE IT HERE. My stay has been memorable and very satisfying i acnt recomend this hotel enough. Everything from the staff to the rooms to the area is just so enchanting.
- Matthew (10/5): - Thank you to the G2 boutique hotel for making me feel like family.
- Matthew (10/5): - This hotel gave me the oppertunity to really experince Chang Mai and Thailand overall just by being its authwntic self. The staff are amazing and so helpful. AND THE ROOMS ARE THE CLEANEST IVE SEEN IN ALL MY TRAVELS. Its really does feel like home away from home here. THANK YOU G2
- Aaron (8/5): Cute place, worth the money - Nice quiet location. Excellent western breakfast. Friendly staff. Good laundry service. A/C struggled on the third floor during heat wave.
- Brett (7/5): Peacefull location, lovely staff. - Reasonably close to old town and walking street, didn't find many restaurant's in the soi nearby. Small shower.
Walk up stairs to 3rd floor.
- Douglas (10/5): - The room itself looks pretty new and was a great place to stay. The staff was extremely kind and helpful whenever I had the odd tourist questions. There’s plenty of cafes, restaurants, laundry and a 7-11 within a 2-3 minute walk. Going into the other end of the old city only took 15 minutes walking, and you can easily get a motorbike to pick you up. Overall it was a great stay and I’d happily come back again.
- Pekka (10/5): Exceptional - Very peaceful location and good restaurants nearby. Room was big and hotel is very clean. Breakfast was good and hotel staff very helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Huge room with great living space. Could do with a touch of decor, minir comforts, regular replenishing of water etc slightly off the main tourist grid but quiet and comfortable.
- Rolandas (4/5): We were unpleasantly surprised - No safety box in the room. No one responded to the note about the safety box. Breakfast was very weak. The bathroom is poor.
- Lívia (8/5): Very good - Great location, clean room, good towels Two things:
1. Breakfast from 7am until 10am never happened. We came to the lobby at 9am and have been told that it is too late for breakfast.Next day we came 8:30am and no breakfast again. Many reviews mentioning breakfast so little bit dissappointed.
2. We asked to get our laundry done as advertised from the hotel 40bath per kilo.
We have been said no without reason. Had to find external cleaning elsewhere.
Two sad NO reason for 8/10 review.
- Rasmus (10/5): Cosy little paradise - Very friendly staff
Delicious breakfast
Clean and comfortable rooms
- ChipHolmes (6/5): Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. - Pros: G2 is well located in the Old Town and is a good-sized room and fairly-priced room (about $32 a night), and although Natat (front desk) left at the end of the day he was always available to answer questions via email, and quickly. Cons: 1. The bathroom smelled awful (like poop) constantly. No air freshener could help this. This is due to off gassing from the drain in the floor. 2. The sofa was absolutely filthy, with huge stains all over it. I have no idea why it is not in the trash. 3. We stayed on second floor. If a family with small children is in room above, it is a noise factory.
- Salvatore (10/5): - Great, stay staff. Excellent, clean every day. Good location thank you
- Dominik (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful and huge room, and even nicer garde. Nice and quite area. Great price. Just one small thing - no power sockets at the bed.
- Kafirin (8/5): A great place to see Chiang Mai from! - We enjoyed the proximity of temples, markets, cafes, massage parlors. The street itself is shabby, but the hotel is quite modern, rooms are spacious and it is very close to tourist centre of town. The hotel has a nice patio. And the receptionist is very friendly and helpful! No elevator (we lived on the 2nd floor). Breakfast could be more varied.
- Carolina (10/5): Great hotel! - Rooms were clean and tidy and the location was good - inside the old city and close to many restaurants and attractions but still in a quiet alleyway. Staff was also friendly. Excellent value for money! Breakfast was simple but that’s how it is in most places in Thailand
- Simon (8/5): Very good -
- Bronte (10/5): Exceptional -
- Keiran (10/5): Exceptional -
- Simon (10/5): Nothing to complain! - One of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. The staff (especially Khun Fan) was friendly and welcoming and didn't hesitate to invite me for dinner. Can't think of any negative experience...
- Komjade (4/5): Disappointing -
- Shannon (10/5): - Great hotel. Rooms are spacious and quiet with everything you need. Everything in Old City is within walking distance and there are always Tuk tuks right near the hotel if needed. The staff was very helpful and overall excellent. Highly recommend!
- Caitlin0205 (8/5): nice room and good location - We stayed in a lovely private room with an ensuite but no hot shower in the shower. Breakfast included and many things included such as yogurt and tea or coffee. Staff were helpful when booking tours but could be friendlier. Good location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It felt like we were in a little oasis, off a quiet side street, but walkable to all the action. The bed was comfy, the welcome fruit and water every day were a plus. Great breakfast too. Great value. Downside, neighbor smoked (in the non-smoking section) and talked loudly in the wee hours of the morning. Hot water temperature was sporadic. We would go back though. Bring mosquito spray.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic settings and super Nice staff. Confident location. The only draw back is that it is in a narrow street, so it is kinda hidden. It took us some time to look for it when we went there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - G2 Boutique is a beautiful little hotel centralized in the heart of the Old City. It is nicely tucked away on a quiet side street next to one of the main roads.
The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating and spoke English very well. We stayed on the third floor, the room was clean and they offer laundry service for a small fee.
They had breakfast options from American Breakfast, Congee (rice porridge) or cereal with milk, each served with plenty of fresh fruits, yogurt, veggies and a hot and cold beverage of your choice. The fresh fruits varied each day and we were lucky enough to get dragon fruit on our last day. The breakfast were very filling and they make it fresh in front of you as soon as you order it, we recommend the congee as it was very filling. As an added service they provided takeaway breakfasts as we had booked tours for early morning pickup.
We would definitely come back to G2 Boutique!
- Y3372NS_ (10/5): money’s worth - Good, clean room. Comfortable bed. Good and helpful staff. After check out you can keep your bags there. 15 mins walk to Sunday market. Very quite and feel safe. But if I’m female single traveler I will not stay there as a bit scary to walk. If more then 2 person very comfy. We’ve enjoyed.
- William (10/5): Very happy stay. - Really pleasant experience. Lovely employees and I will be happy to return.
- CloudShade (2/5): Disappointing Stay - We just got married and rented three rooms for four nights for four people. Only one of those three rooms had a fully functioning shower (hot water was not available in two of the rooms) during the entire stay- and that one bathroom really did not have a pleasant smell. I actually believe the odor was causing my new sister-in-law to become sick and nauseous. (We spent two days looking for medication in the city). I forgot/did not have a chance to inform management about the issue the first couple of nights, as members of our party all shower at night and we always came back around 11pm, when nobody seemed to work the hotel's front desk. However, even when hotel management was made aware of the issue, they did not come up with a reasonable solution. They actually told us that we could each shower in our one room with the smelly functioning bathroom. One evening, they said the hot water heater was broken. The next morning they brought up changing rooms, but nothing ever materialized from that. Very disappointed in this place after reading all the positive reviews. While cleaning service was good, the place seems to be falling apart and not well/properly maintained. Our rooms were 203, 204, and 205.
- purbag2018 (10/5): For comfortable hassle free stay - Nice hotel in the old city area. It is in a by lane but that shouldn’t bother one.
I went as per the ratings on Trip advisor and am delighted.
Working staff friendly, house keeping good, breakfast is freshly made.what more can one ask for.I certainly will come here again.
Special mention for Tong who was in charge of breakfast and front desk.
The entry has asmall water body makes it different.
For the visitors who are staying for longer duration and want to take a break from hectic sight seeing, please do not forget to visit the Nong Buak Hard public park which is located somewhat behind the hotel .
The morning hours are beautiful here.
- peil2018 (10/5): Quiet hotel in city center. Great staff. - Pros
- The receptionists are very kind and helpful. Our AC began leaking one night and they apologized and put us in an upgraded room while it got fixed.
- Cleaning staff was excellent.
- quiet location but still conveniently located in the old city.
- rooms were in good shape and clean
Cons
- the shower is a bit small and the shower floor which consisted of rocks and a wooden plank was uncomfortable (but cool looking)
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Hotel - Great experience, staff was helpful, room was comfortable.
- Joe (8/5): - The people were great. The room extremely modest but very clean and well kept. Breakfast was made to order and very good. Essentially a budget hotel in the center of Old Town. I will stay there again.
- Nay93 (8/5): Great stay - 26th - 28th March
Travelling from Bangkok to Chiang Mai I chose this hotel to stay during my Chiang Mai visit.
The entrance was beautiful with trees and fish and it’s very relaxing and picturesque.
The welcome desk staff are very helpful and friendly. The rooms are spacious but the corridors can sometimes be sweltering hot as there is no air conditioning there.
It was a good location but very quiet. Hotel for the temples and a 15 minute walk to the night food market and a half an hour walk to the night bazaar.
- JamesF486 (10/5): Clean and friendly - Friendly helpful staff, clean and cheap hotel, in a good location but of the main road. Could not ask for any more. I would recommend and would not hesitate to stay here again if I return to Chiang Mai
- George (10/5): Great position - A small family run hotel tucked in a Soi in a quiet area of the Old City. Close to the only park inside the Old City and close to all Wats, markets, museums and cafes. A real find. Staff are very helpful with organising bookings The generous breakfast is included in the modest tariff. Stayed for 14 days in February.
- Roma (10/5): Amazing stay at G2 - The staff here are so wonderful and kind - they really went above and beyond to help us with a few things. You can tell they really care about their guests. We planned to stay for one night but ended up booking a 2nd night. We would have stayed for our 3rd night as well but they were fully booked. The hotel itself is really beautiful and modern (lots of concrete) and a nice outdoor space in the main entrance. The water in the shower was a bit inconsistent but we were fine with it. Not sure about the breakfast as we missed it on both days due to very early morning excursions. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel.
- AngelaS192 (10/5): Perfect! - The hotel is on a small road off another small road off the main road, but even so the taxi driver had no trouble finding it. We had a deluxe room, which was a suite with a lounge, a kitchen area, a large bedroom and a large bathroom with bath and shower. When we arrived there was fresh fruit in the room as well as complimentary water and tea/coffee. The hotel was very quiet and comfortable, and the bed was very comfortable. The staff working there were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good too, we had a cooked breakfast with coffee. This hotel is perfect, we loved it and will definitely stay there again.
- jongno (8/5): Quiet welcome place - This hotel is quite well not in center on old chiangmai city but esay to walk from it to any place (within the wall). The room is big enough fir 3 (2 adults 1 kid) and breakfast (not buffet) is fare good. Tenants are politite and helpfull. It is clean and clear. There is a small garden to rest. So for our next visit we will book same place.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great hotel. Amazing staff. Location is not the best, but since the city is small is not such a problema.
- leond239 (10/5): Great hotel - Its a great hotel with pleasant people. Not so far from the centrum with 10 min walking you are at the markets. You can also take a tuk tuk vor about 50 bath to diferent places in the city. Really nice stay we had here!
Thanks G2!
- Charlie_f_05 (10/5): Great Boutique Hotel - Lovely luxurious boutique hotel, with very friendly staff. Rooms are perfect with air conditioning and a small fridge with complimentary fruit on arrival. Highly recommend a visit to Chiang Mai and to this lovely Hotel.
- amileen2019 (10/5): WONDERFUL STAFF AND BEAUTIFUL PLACE - We have just finished 8 nights with G2 Boutique and were absolutely stoked with our stay. Staff were extremely friendly every time we arrived and left the hotel. They offered us extra help when needed such as carrying the luggage up the stairs or cooking breakfast for my husband when we was sick in bed. The breakfast is delicious and your selections are great. Better than buffet breakfasts we've stayed at. The fresh fruit twice daily is so nice and the rooms are very clean and so comfortable. We stayed in the Business Deluxe suite and there was plenty room.
There isn't an elevator here so for those with wheelchair accessible it would be difficult, that's the only down side I can see.
We will definitely be happy to recommend G2 to anyone wanting to stay close to the centre of Chiang Mai but not right in the heart of it. We paid 30 baht each to get to the centre and were happy to do so. However it's not a far walk.
- JessicaL6993 (8/5): Solid hotel - Nice hotel with great reception staff, they were both extremely helpful and very knowledgeable! We stayed on the 3rd floor which got a bit too hot during the day so I would recommend trying to stay on a lower floor as the ac isn't amazing in the rooms but other then that the location is close to lots of food and the breakfast is fantastic!
- iainb213 (2/5): Awful disappointment dirty and no customer service skills - I read the reviews of this hotel that is why I booked it said it was 4 stars good location and clean new rooms
How wrong can you be upon arrival I checked in the man who did this was quite a bit rude very blunt and no customer service skills I asked if I could have a second key was told NO on the web and before I booked in it said baby from 0-3 can stay for free my boy is 5 months so thought no PROBLEM this is a 4 stared hotel but was told I must pay 800bart for him to stay in our own bed the first night a family member who lives in chiang mia looked after him but why do this the next day my boy needs his mum and dad I asked again to a different staff member and stated what the web said she still said no so I asked her for my money back and I will find a different hotel she said. NO so I give up so my wife spoke to her in thia and now NO problem now the room was on the 3rd floor no lifts no one would HELP us up the stairs with a pram and suitcases the bathroom floor flooded each shower it looked clean but had massive chocroches under the bed lodes of mosquitoes we all got bit a lot not good for a little baby no moscito nets tolet seat broken and not nice had a very. Non private bathroom with a large window into the bedroom with a broken blind so not privet at all in all it was more like a 2 star hotel than 4 stars if you can find it not in a great place even local uber drivers with satnav found it hard to find
- Click1505 (10/5): Very good - Stayed for 2 nights and ut was wonderful! Bit of a struggle in the evening without taxi but very good! Nice and clean room with aircon perfect for march weather with cleaning lady tidying up every day, top up of the free water and clean towel! Nice location also with a stunning entrance!
- CDaviesMe (10/5): Staff are Fantastic - G2 is in a great location and is within walking distance of plenty of shops, coffee shops and restaurants (everywhere is in Chiang Mai). Breakfast is cooked fresh by the staff, including fruit and yogurt while you wait for your cooked breakfast. Staff were really helpful when helping us book trips and tours. On the morning of our first trip we would be leaving before breakfast starts. So they made us a packed breakfast to go. Thanks so much G2
- albertagirlcalgary (8/5): Nice place - We stayed one night on way to airport. Check in was quick even though we were early. Staff very friendly and efficient. Room was clean and good size. Paid extra for late check out $100 baht/hr up until 4 pm which was a nice option. Location was great.
- Artur (8/5): Good location in old city - Stayed for 2 weeks. Room was comfortable and well maintained. Plenty of space. Breakfast ok
- Tony (8/5): Friendly quiet hotel - The G2 Boutique hotel is a quiet oasis in Chiang Mai. The room was lather than many single bedroom apartments and was outfitted well. Pantothenic decorated, it was more like a holiday apartment than a hotel room. The staff were always plant and extremely helpful. I'd strongly recommend the hotel.
- moran (6/5): nice hotel in the old city - Nice, but very hot because of the concreed walls. The ac take alot of time to cool. The street is very quite but after you find its ok.very Close to the saturday market.
