Also very friendly cat in the building

- Xuenong (10/5): - Perfect
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Matt (10/5): - Great place and people.
- Matt (10/5): - Good location and helpful staff.
- Luca (10/5): - Love our stay at Sunshine House for 3 nights. Good value!!! Easy check in, building and room are always clean! Very friendly staff... location not far from old city which reachable by walk....
7-Eleven not far from the building and local seafood, Local pub and 24h self-service laundry just next door (with free detergent and softener...yess they are included!)
Moreover Santitham restaurant next door make it as a simply because it’s the only place that serve good coffees and foods. Don't forget to try their fresh orange juice!
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Joe (10/5): Chiang Mai stay - Great stay, very nice people. Having Parking for my vehicle was very important. I will return for sure.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice and clean and friendly staff. Toast and coffee for breakfast.
- Tomas (8/5): Excellent budget choice in quiet area! - Hard to beat its value/price ratio. Hotel is not too big, is in very good condition, clean and well maintained with friendly staff. Area is fine, good for sleeping as its green and quiet. Definitely will come back. Small disadvantage is late checkout - they charge 100THB per hour.
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- chi on (10/5): - nice
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nettes Hotel, für 1-3 Nächte geeignet. - Das beste- man kann wirklich heiß duschen. Leider gibt es keinen Fön!
- myoungsoo (10/5): Quiet Santitham neibour - One of bed making speaking sounds
- J (4/5): - WiFi failed on New Year's Eve when I needed to speak to family. Advertised as business hotel with premium rates - no compensation offered for what became a serious frustration with no resolution.
Emailed hotel, response stated it was a failure of external company - something I wouldn't expect the customer/client to suffer for without compensating in some way - especially on New Year.
- Pat (10/5): - Sunshine hotel is a quiet spot in a noisy town. It is safe and welcoming. It is just a little bit out of the way but walkable to plenty of food outlets. The front desk can order you a grab taxi (Uber) to take you anywhere very cheaply. You can also grab a red truck or tuktuk to return cheap. Room was very clean and spacious and comfortable and we'll priced. Highly recommend this hotel.
- Beth (10/5): - This hotel is a real gem, very inexpensive ( about $25/night) tucked into a quiet street but close to great restaurants, bars and street food vendors. The front desk staff are super friendly and helpful and speak very good English. They were able to steer us to cheap bike rentals and a great place for Thai massage. I'd recommend Sunshine House in a heartbeat.
- Debbie (10/5): Customer Service = Excellent - Its always a pleasure being at Sunshine House. Its a relaxed and friendly place with excellent customer service from the Receptionists.
- Anthony (8/5): - The staff was amazing fair English bed little hard but overall no complaints
- Jason (10/5): - Everything is perfect except for wifi. every front desk staff i have met is extremely nice and willing to help, however, wifi in room is weak... can't even reach facebook... there is no hairdryer in room but can borrow from front desk.
- Jason (10/5): - I have stayed at this hotel many times. Always clean, comfortable, quiet, and affordable. Nimmenheimen road and Maya mall are close by which is a nice walk. Located in Santitham neighborhood. Lots of street food at night. 7 eleven and Tesco Lotus within walking distance. Room has refrigerator. Washing machine cost 20 baht per load. Can get soap for washing at front desk for 5 baht. Great place to stay!
- Keith (10/5): Great value - Great value. Clean, great service. Beds are firm like most in SE Asia. Would definitely stay here again. Had a 4 day stay. Breakfast is coffee, banana and cracker but didn’t even expect that at the price paid.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Perfect stay
- Chris (8/5): Gets thing done - If you are here to see Chiang Mai and not planning just to stay in the Hotel, then this is a good place to stay in
- Tyler (10/5): Holy smokes! ENGLISH!😬🙏 - Well the staff were super nice and spoke very VERRRYY good English compared to many Thai in Chiang mai. I should have booked this hotel longer because I made the mistake of booking phowadol place near the university and it was trash compared to this place (bugs, spiders mosquitos). This hotel was comfy, and felt like a hotel where you enjoy talking to the staff, and they enjoy helping you ...
As an American who lives in a nice home in the USA, I recommend this place 100%
- LEE (8/5): - The hotel was nice and cheap. Near to many food stalls. Convenience.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice and clean. Good location; easy walking to Massage school, Maya mall, etc.
- Ivor (10/5): Sunshine House - Sunshine House is amazing. Hotel is lovely, as are the staff. I lost my bearings 2 times (Thanks satnav) as hotel near mini roundabout with 5 exits. After a week at the unbearable J*smin* House in `old town`, I felt clean and refreshed. And, it is not so far to walk to Taipai Gate. There is a deposit of 500 B (returnable) but the respect I received made this not a problem. I arrived soaking wet from Songkran? my fault for using tuktuk, smelling like moat water, but still got respect.
- Jose (10/5): Family atmosphere - Great place, friendly staff, made me feel at home.
- Matt (8/5): Beautiful, bright and spacious rooms - Great stay overall. Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful, bright and spacious rooms. Bed was exceptionally hard. Only bad thing about the place. Many people have written about this on their reviews. I hope management can do something about this. It is a lovely place to stay aside from this one terrible flaw.
- Jon (8/5): Really nice boutique hotel in a quiet neighborhood - Lovely place, perfect location, quiet, clean rooms, great staff. Highly recommended.
Will stay again.
- Kathleen (8/5): Beautiful city - Very good hotel for a cheap price. The bed is not very confortable, but after a long day visiting the city you dont mind and fall asleep very quick. It is a beautiful city with a lot to visit, so make sure to stay at lease 3 to 4 days minimum! Its also here where the temples are the most amazing in Thailand. Finally, the staff is very friendly and ready to help.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Cleanest Guest House I've been to in Chiang Mai. It was built only about 7 years ago and is extremely clean and modern. Incredible value for your money
- Kate (8/5): Nice hotel in good location - My partner and I stayed 4 nights at Sunshine House. The hotel staff are all very helpful and friendly. The hotel is modern, clean and located outside old town but not an issue as there are plenty of nearby cafes and restaurants. The walk to old town is not far. We used Grab to get to a few destinations and it was cheap each time. About 70-100 baht to the airport.
They offer tea, coffee, bananas and water in the reception area. Also there is a laundry in house for 40baht for a large machine and 20baht for the small washing machine.
I'd recommend for a comfortable stay and also a great price.
- Li (10/5): Bright, clean, quitet - Good, clean and quiet place to stay. The room they gave me first I did not like for it's red colors, but staff was friendly to change it for the upper floor with yellow walls, room was huge and with many windows,I could open it in early morning or at night and enjoy clean air. I loved it.Many nice and cheap local food near by(try red or green soup with pork bone) and 7/11. No complains , thanks to stuff !
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice and quiet - Great staff. Great place if you are looking for a quiet get away.
- Tarni (10/5): Perfect - The room was amazing for such a low price and the staff were really helpful. Answered any questions and were always there to help. Would definitely stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Quite hotel and friendly staff - Quite little hotel near some local eats. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Alittle but away from the main tourist streets but was nice.
- Doug (8/5): Nice hotel, need a scooter - The bed was hard the water pressure good. The refrigerator is a plus, hot water and coffee downstairs. Although you get a small balcony you can't smoke on it. I used grab everywhere but if I went back I would rent a scooter. Location is not close to anywhere.
- Nicholas (2/5): Budget is the key word - Went because it was a good budget option for a night...left before I even stayed the night. The AC was obnoxiously loud, there were lamps in the room with the chords tied up because there were no outlets to plug them in, and the bed was the worst part. Tried to take a nap and couldn't even get close since it was like laying on concrete (I know Thai beds are typically hard, but this was a whole new level).
- Robert (8/5): Quiet, relaxing place - Average nice hotel with helpful stuff.
- Shimmyshyster (8/5): Quirky and cool. - Spent a week here end of October with my wife and our baby boy.
Situated in the Nimman area but still close to the old city of Chiang Mai.
The hotel was clean and functional.
Staff were friendly but not many English speakers.
Lots of Japanese guests.
Good local street food scene.
Would recommend.
- Mark (8/5): Good area and great restaurant and shops nearby - All good. Great buffet next door. Enjoyed it a lot
- JUN (10/5): will stay again - Big room, good service, value for money
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great budget hotel and fantastic staff! Only downside is the distance to the old city but there are plenty of places to eat walking distance from hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Quite and comfortable - It's quite good and comfortable, but it's not easy to find it and not near night market or shopping mall. 15 minutes to old town.
- Mr Chung Wen (10/5): Highly recommended - Room was clean and comfortable. My stay was great. Very friendly and helpful staff.
- Christian (6/5): - We really like the room at the Sunshine House. For the price it was great. They also had good laundry facilities. The one glaring drawback of the hotel are the people at the front desk. They have about 4-5 front desk attendants but only one is helpful. The others are lazy and completely unhelpful. We needed to get a bus from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai and the front desk attendant was unwilling to help us make a reservation. They also were very unhelpful when we asked for advice on tourist sites and the like.
- Monet (10/5): Nice and clean hotel in a quiet area - We enjoyed our one week stay at this hotel. The room had bare necessities but was very clean and comfortable with the airconditioner providing relief from the heat. When we preferred to ride the red truck or tuk tuk, we walked about 2 min to a bigger street where public transportation was more readily available. If we get the chance to come back to Chiang Mai, we will consider staying here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Newish hotel with large rooms and air conditioning. Close proximity to old city, helpful and friendly staff. Would stay here again and recommend to others
- Jera (8/5): Perfect stay. - It was perfectly located. There are many cafes and local restaurants nearby. It is about a 10-minute drive to the old city. The area is far from the noise of the old city yet perfectly located that you can walk to many interesting places nearby. The staff is very accomodating. They made me feel like their family or close friend. This is a budget hotel so dont expect too much with the facilities. But, I would definitely book this hotel again when I go back to Chiang Mai.
- Brittany (8/5): - Very happy with our stay at sunshine house. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The bathroom was a good size and had hot water. There was a mini fridge and we had two free bottles of water daily. The curtains blocked out a good amount of light. Friendly staff. Quiet location. Great value for money. It was the nicest place we stayed at during our visit to Thailand. Would highly recommend and would stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The staffs were very nice and helpful. They let me checked in early because I had a very early flight and came by the hotel 2 hours in advance. We stayed 8 nights all together.
- Dexter (10/5): - Amazing room for the price. Comfortable, clean, and quiet hotel with helpful staff. Room was in a calm neighborhood a few blocks outside of the Chiang Mai wall. Rented scooters straight from the hotel parking lot. Laundry facilities available. Can't beat the price and was quiet happy going back after a long day of motorbiking and adventure.
- Katherine (8/5): Good choice overall - This hotel is about 10 minutes or so outside of the old city, so you'd need to get a red truck or tuk tuk if you want to go visit touristy places. But we already did that and just wanted to relax and check out a local residential area. There are a lot of cheap eats nearby and walkable to cafes and fun to explore. The room was decent and comfortable for the price. There's a washer/dryer downstairs, and a small lunch room with utensils and a microwave. And an elevator if you don't like walking up stairs to your room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Exactly what you need for a stay in Chiang Mai - Sunshine House has a great, modern design and is in a cute Thai neighborhood within walking distance of the Old City and Nimmanhaemin. It's clean and has a good, hot shower. The only small complaints I had are that the bed squeaked when I moved, and I had to get out of bed after reading to turn off the lights in the room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very friendly staff, quiet street, close to market clean room will go back
- Rhys (10/5): Sunshine house no.1 - We stayed for 5 nights so good be came back again - hotel staff are lovely and so helpful.
- Angelina (6/5): One week stay in Sunshine House - First expression upon arrival to hotel, clean feeling, went to the room and was impressed with the size(huge) of the bed(but very very hard mattress, management might want to consider slightly softer mattress) and room, even had a small round table and 2 chairs. They had a small outdoor area to air/hang dry some laundry. The place is near to local minimart and 7-11(snacks and toiletries), cheaper food compared to city which is slightly farther away, which we got to using the red bus. We enjoyed our stay.
- Mark (10/5): Fantastic - We had a great stay, spotlessly clean hotel for a great price. Bed was too hard for me but they gave me a quilt to put on top which was great, good street food and 7 eleven around 200m away
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good Value and Friendly Staff - Located near by to train station, walking distance to night market and local market.
Friendly staffs and offered help whenever needed.
- Stephanie (6/5): Good Enough - Unfortunately the bed was rock hard as usual for Thailand hotels. But! The room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. The wifi was a pain. You had to log in each time you used it. The hotel is in a quiet area and the staff is great. For the price its a nice place to stay.
- Rebecca (10/5): Great hotel with amazing staff - Six of us stayed in the hotel for 3 nights and we absolutely enjoyed our stay to the fullest. The hotel has a great location away from the all the tourists. You are right in the middle of the Thai life with great restaurants, food stalls etc. just down the road. If you wanna go to the night markets just grab a Tuk Tuk for a couple of Bahts. Right next to the hotel is a massage salon which you should definitely check out.
Staff was just so kind and helpful. Whenever we had a question, they did their very best to help us. Rooms are clean and spacious.
- Jaffar (10/5): Amazing days - It was just amazing to stay in this hotel !
- dennis (8/5): great place for the money very quiet hotel - hotel was a ok only not that close to any major attractions had to taxi pretty much everywhere we went not that many restaurants close by either accomidations were fine
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel staff were awesome! They were so helpful and kind. They helped us with tours and anything we wanted help with. Couldn't ask for anything else. The hotel was located close to everything. Would love to come stay here again!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Not bad
- Shannon (8/5): Clean, Private, Minimalist Guesthouse - Super clean, to the point stay for travelers on a budget. I stayed in a double room that had a huge bed, refrigerator, TV, private bathroom, big window with nice view, A/C... Everything I needed! The bed was pretty hard, and there were no lavish details about the guesthouse, but everything was extremely clean and felt cozy. The towels and sheets smelled great, which was a plus :)
Staff was friendly and helpful, quick to answer any questions I had.
Only issue I ran into was that none of the taxis knew where this was located. This shocked me because on day two of being in the city, I walked there with no problems. Regardless, it would have been helpful to stay somewhere that didn't take an hour to find a taxi who "knew," and then have to wait on their detour after they blew past it twice.
I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to budget travelers, as well as those who prefer the quality of a 3-4 star hotel without the cost and extras. Very, very nice stay.
- Cong (8/5): Good value for price - The hotel in very good conditions and provides clean and comfortable rooms. The staff are friendly and helpful. The location might not be perfect as it is outside of the moat. But you can always find a songtaew to get around. Overall very good value for the cheap price!
- Guy (8/5): Peaceful and clean place to stay. - This is a nice place and the location is quiet yet very close to everything Chiang Mai has to offer. It is a short walk to a small shopping area where you can buy anything you might need on your travels. My only complaint is that the mattresses are low quality, a bit lumpy, and extremely firm. Some folks would not have an issue with this, but after four days, I needed a good rub down to get out the kinks. Otherwise, I have no issue recommending this clean and friendly small hotel to all.
- Brock (10/5): Stay here! - It was awesome. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Exceptional rooms for $12.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great value for money! - Great hotel, decent sized rooms. Staff friendly and helpful but if you book taxis through them etc they don't necessarily get you the best rate.
Would definitely stay again.
- T (6/5): Good budget hotel - Great place to stay when on a budget. Bed was not very comfortable but the room was clean.
- Ashley (10/5): Cleanest and nicest hotel I have seen in the area. - Love this place! Clean, comfortable, convenient! And its super close to my favorite spa, Dewy Day Spa. Every time I am in Chiang Mai, I seek out both these places. Highly recommend this place!
- Maoyuan (8/5): low cost but good service - clean room, good service, good location
- Verified traveler (10/5): I would like to stay there again - Staff are friendly and speak good English. My room was maintained clean everyday. Good wifi reception. Only few minutes walk to get local shops and street foods.
- Kelvin (8/5): Nice and clean room for an affordable price. - There was no bath tub. Air conditioner is ok but it was not new. Other than cockroach leg sticking to the wall in the bathroom Im totally happy with this hotel. There was also hot water and stuffs you'd expected from a hotel.
- Paul (10/5): Great value - Excellent value for a 3 star hotel... room is clean and everything worked well. Staff are nice, location is good if you want to be in that area of C Mai.. ie not old city moat area.
