Would have like juice options available and perhaps hard-boiled eggs or yogurt parfaits for a protein option. We liked the decor and small bar area. Beds were incredibly comfortable and the room was quiet. We were confused as to how to find our room, a staff member to direct us would have helped greatly. Room was a bit run down.

GEORGE (10/5): Amazing time traveling experience to a bygone era! - This Boutique Motel is like traveling back in time to the 50s or 60s but with a modern twist. It has its own bar Lounge, vinyl record room and pool table. You can hear the traffic going by.

Heather (8/5): Great location & ask for coffee - The location was convenient for accessing shops and restaurants downtown. The room was "cute" and the common areas were very cute! If you want a place to gather with fellow travelers or friends after a long day, this hotel offers plenty of options. I did not like that there was no coffee in the room and it was not made clear that there was coffee in the lobby in the morning. The hotel itself it old(er) and while the art work in the room is nice to look at the facility is showing some wear. I also could not figure out how to turn off the TV which was on all night. I didn't like the extra light in the room.

Breakfast was ok, very commercial. Frozen berries, not even fully thawed, substandard bread and bagels, nothing unique or delicious. Very low effort.

Laura (5/5): - See below comment... this should suffice. The cost for my stay was jacked up for the weekend- would've been more cost effective elsewhere. I always stayed here in previous trips to support local business and the fact that it is so close to my son's place whom I travel from Hawaii. It already costs me an arm and a leg just to get here, so I was always pleased with the cost of my stay at Royal Oak Hotel, however, this time I was rather disappointed with some of the changes- I understand the price increases- however, the cost effectiveness is going to make me re-think my stay the next time I come to visit (Royal Oak Hotel was my immediate go to every time... which is probably my 5th+ time) There used to be a free coffee bar and complimentary breakfast sandwich next door...no more. (disappointing) There is a continental breakfast set up until 10am to which I enjoyed the free coffee and the banana. (disappointing) Other than that, the staff is friendly and accommodating and it's still clean. The fire pit area has been upgraded a little. Overall it was ok (which used to be very impressive considering)

ronnb881 (8/5): Fun, easy and convenient - Great Location, easy parking and nice updating of old retro hotel. The room was large and the wifi was good with plenty of hot water in shower. I did find the bed not quite as comfortable as I like, but this could be a me thing, I appreciate a very firm bed. Also do to the motel nature and rooms facing the parking lot, a good amount of parking lot noise can come through. We heard a car doling in the parking lot for 30 minutes at midnight. When we got there the remote for heat control was not working in our room, front office tried to fix it and when they couldn't get it done within 15 minutes they immediately moved us to comparable room, they were very polite and attentive regarding this. I like how the room is furnished and updated. Nice mini-fridge and microwave. There is no coffee maker, but they have coffee in the lobby with continental style breakfast every morning. The room was clean comfortable. Easy walk to the farmers market and several restaurants. Nice markets are about 3-5 minute drive away. Our son recently moved to the area and we will stay here again when we come to visit. I think this property will show off well in the summer, rather then the dead of winter when we were here!

All in all we were not elated with the place and only chose it because it was pet-friendly and not real expensive.

Shannon Kay (10/5): Hotel Rochester is a very cool retro older hotel that was spruced up to look very cool. - Fire pits and outdoor seating. The harmonica music playing all night from the outdoor speakers. Someone forgot to turn them off. My phone couldn’t open the door. I had to get room keys.

Michael (10/5): Enjoyable stay - Stayed here for a concert at Royal Oak Music Theater. The staff I interacted with were helpful and friendly. My room was clean and comfortable. The bed was a little firm but still pretty good. When I returned to the hotel it looked like the front office turns into a little lounge and serves drinks. Definitely would stay here again.
Tonya (10/5): - This was a really cute motel. I was very leery after reading bad reviews (still not sure how they'd get any) The room was clean, bed was comfortable. We used the outdoor "patio" area and watched a football game. We stayed here because it was close to the Mark Ridleys comedy club. The employees were very nice. I would definitely stay here again in the future.

Great relaxing atmosphere. The outside areas could be kept up a little better. The coffee and morning food selection could have been better.

Rachel (4/5): Feeling letdown - I booked this night as a mom’s night away but ended up not even staying for the full night. Everything leading up to the stay was so impressive in terms of communication, ease of check in/out, amenities listed, but the actual experience was very lacking. The carpet was damp around the AC window unit and it felt uncomfortable walking around the room without shoes on. I ended up booking another hotel after an hour or so because the mildew and smoke smell was so overwhelming. The pictures online and the amenities listed were so promising but the experience just felt like a typical motel stay but with bright colors.
