The food was incredible- so many choices, excellent quality. The spa and gym were awesome as was the pool and beach. We can’t wait to go back!
Fearless07630819798 (2/5): Deeply Disappointing Experience — Major Privacy and Service Failures - I stayed at Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica in June 2025 and expected a luxurious, guest-centered experience. Unfortunately, my stay was marred by multiple service failures and an unacceptable breach of privacy. On the morning of June 22, I ordered breakfast via room service at 7:14 AM, which never arrived. Despite using the resort’s app (as promoted), my message went unanswered. When I spoke with the concierge in person, I was told I “should have called” instead, completely dismissing the app communication that the resort advertises. Later that day, the resort attempted to make amends by sending a fruit plate and wine to my room — a gesture I appreciated at first. However, just five minutes after delivery, the same staff member knocked once and immediately entered our room using a key, without waiting for permission. My roommate was partially undressed and in the middle of getting dressed, making the intrusion extremely uncomfortable and violating. Even after I formally complained, the damage to our sense of privacy and safety had already been done. This experience fell far below the standard of professionalism and respect I expected from a Dreams property and the Inclusive Collection brand. I cannot recommend this resort based on my experience. I hope management takes these issues seriously and prioritizes proper staff training to ensure future guests are treated with respect and care.
915annet (10/5): Exceptional sad to see it close. - Truly amazing and stunning resort! Service was exceptional as was the food and drinks. The resort was clean, staff were friendly and went above and beyond. The grounds were gorgeous and lush, the wildlife was enjoyable and you felt like you were on an excursion for free. The beach was expansive and beautiful. Pools were expansive with great service. Absolutely no complaints. So sad to see this place close. Thank you to all the staff and this beautiful country for this unforgettable experience and memory.
Monica (6/5): Not Worth The Money Although Beautiful Location - The location was nice. The food was really good. Particularly good was the French bistro. The Crepes Suzette dessert was exceptional. The dining staff were professional and warm. The breakfast buffet was varied and delicious. There were NEVER enough towels for the pool/beach. We had to beg/coerce/plan in order to get towels. The elevator was inoperative on and off during the four days we were there. The rooms need a facelift, especially given the over $800USD per night we were paying to stay there. Many things did not work: blow dryer, light above the bed, as mentioned, the elevator. There was too much noise at night due to thumping music. The tiles by the pools are are legal nightmare.

yalan2022 (6/5): Nice stay! - Overall stay was good. The resort is beautiful, I don’t like that the beach is public. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There’s no distinction between preferred and non preferred guests. The food in the restaurants was delicious, I wish the buffet had non pork options. This is the last month for the resort as it’s being bought out.
166genevas (6/5): Good - Overall the resort is nice, unless you’re a preferred guess you will not get any premium beverages. The lighting around the resort is poor and was a security concern. Also the rooms in building 3 need to be upgraded. The pools were very nice and relaxing but limited activities. If you are looking to book excursions, this is not the resort for you, everything is over an hour away. If you’re looking for a nice relaxing vacation with family, this is the place to stay, but if you’re looking for excursions and more of a busy environment, you may want to consider another resort. Most of the restaurants were good especially the Asian cuisine, the buffet is small and has limited selections. The Oceana restaurant by the pool was also great.
hattiew121 (10/5): It Was A Dream - The all inclusive was a first for me and will be my go to from now on if available. The monkeys were a joy to watch outside on the balcony. Everything is very clean. The staff around the entire property were very accommodating. The beach was very nice. I shopped on the beach and got a massage all while relaxing and being catered to with refreshments. The party on the beach with our personal chef/staff was beautifully done. The steak with all the fixings was fantastic all while hearing the waves from the beach. Everyone enjoyed it. It was a dream.

GoPlaces592084 (8/5): Relaxing Vacay - The resort is clean and the staff is attentive, however staff was limited. Mattresses are super soft and saggy. Food is filling but not satisfying. Pools are clean and maintained but tile surrounding the pools are quite slick causes multiple falls.

The cushions on the furniture were stained/spoiled and should be sanitized. There were times that the car drivers were not friendly and did not want to drive us around the big resort. Everything is spaced out which makes the resort huge. The beach was dirty and should be cleaned up and debris removed. They need umbrellas/cabanas on the beach to accommodate beach lovers.

All staff were friendly, attentive and seemed to genuinely be interested in making the stay as perfect as can be. Plenty of food options for breakfast/lunch/dinner, we ate at all restaurants from our stay and can honestly say will not go wrong with whatever you choose. Pools are clean and dont seem to be cramped unlike other resorts. There is plenty to do for everyone from laying on the lounger to daily activities. There is a very good mix between attention from staff and being left alone to relax and enjoy your holiday away.

The monkeys will come to the room via the balcony. The vendors on the beach are affiliated with the resort, so be aware. The outside vendors are friendly but sometimes unwelcome.
BlameItOnRios (10/5): Excellent and supportive staff - I am not an all inclusive kind of person. I was pleasantly surprised by the service and the delicious food. There are so many pools at the resort that it never felt over crowded. Most importantly…going back to service, I left my Athleta Jacket and AirPod Pros at check-in on Day 1. I knew it had been taken by another guest because I could see the AirPod location inside a building. In less than 12-hours, Security at the hotel is returning my jacket and AirPods to me. I’m am so impressed by their prompt attention that I would come back and recommend to anyone looking for a vacation in paradise.

jb9896 (8/5): Monkeys amazing, resort needs renovations - Since the resort will be closing in about a month, I won’t make it too long, as I’m sure there will be significant changes by the time it reopens next year. My adult daughters and I stayed from May 13 to May 22. Airport/transfers: We arrived on a Tuesday around noon. Customs and immigration were a breeze, and we were quickly through. This is a very efficiently run system by them. We booked airport transfers through Ulf Halbgebauer Briceño Real Tours, and the process was incredibly smooth. Our driver, Juan Ponce, was a Costa Rican bull riding champ and also our tour guide on our excursion. He was fantastic and highly recommended. It took about 90 minutes to get to the resort, and everything you read about the horrible roads is true. The country is beautiful, but the roads are terribly maintained. Resort: The resort itself is beautiful, and the staff is incredible and very hard working. There’s a lot of walking to and from the restaurants if you’re in one of the lower buildings. Power went out more than a dozen times or more Beach/Pools: Despite what many people said about the beach, we thought it was great. We also went in knowing it wasn’t a Caribbean beach, so we kept an open mind. We spent most of our time there. We could always get a chair, which is not the case with the pool. It wasn’t crowded at all, which we loved. It was calm enough to just float in, but be mindful that there’s no barrier rope, so you might fall asleep and wake up a ways out. The water was clear and refreshing for the hot days. There are vendors everywhere, so it’s a public beach. They’ll try to sell you stuff, but a polite “no thank you” is all it takes. The pools are okay. There’s plenty of room and space in them, but there’s only one swim-up bar, which surprised me. I could see this being a renovation point when Marriott takes over. The Infiniti Edge pool overlooking the ocean was nice as well. Restaurants and bars: We dined at every restaurant (some twice) and all were decent. Nothing extraordinary, honestly. The teppanyaki was probably our favorite, and the only one requiring reservations, which could be made right on the app. All other restaurants we walked to and were generally seated promptly. At the Italian restaurant, I had forgotten my pants, so we had to eat outdoors. I was fine with it, as it was my own fault, but it can get hot sitting outside. Most of the bars were pretty good. Our favorites were the preferred bar (shoutout to Nelson) and the Beach bar, which was usually manned by JC (Juan Carlos), who was probably the best resort bartender. He was friendly, made amazing drinks, and went out of his way to make our experience great! Rooms: This is where they fall short. They definitely need a refresh when Marriott takes over. We were preferred in building 1A (rooms 1204 and 1205) and had a junior suite with a tropical view and a master suite with a tropical view. The air conditioning in the rooms was terrible. I tried to get them to fix it multiple times, but the thermostats never hit below 72, even though I had set them at 65. The 72 was actually 76, according to my own temperature gauge. The hot water was also non-existent, and I asked about it a few times, but I got tired of asking. Housekeeping would also come in and turn the ceiling fans off when they cleaned and push the thermostats up, which I don’t understand why. The view was great—a partial ocean view. Monkeys on our balconies almost every morning (even as I type this), which was honestly the highlight of the trip. Excursions: We used Ulf Halbgebauer Briceño Real Tours for a mini combo they called it, but it was a 12-hour day to the waterfall, zip-lining, mud baths, hot springs, and a sloth sanctuary. As mentioned above, Juan was our driver, and he was fantastic. Highly recommended! We also did the $1 hour jungle/beach ATV tour through Angie Zapata Adventures, which was absolutely great. We visited roughly 5-6 beaches and saw some wildlife on the way to each. She was fantastic arranging this for us. My daughter also had a massage on the beach with her, and she loved it. Overall, this was our first trip to Costa Rica, and we had a great time. We’ll be curious to see what changes are made in the year it will be shut down for renovations. I also feel terrible for the 700+ that work so hard now that will be out of work while the renovations take place.
KimE719 (10/5): Highly recommend this experience - especially for adults! - Outstanding resort and the convenience of an All-Inclusive (our first) is totally the best. Our room, junior king suite, looked out over the forest and beautiful landscaping and we had birds and monkeys (white face & howlers) and even a racoon (outside) one night. The food is top notch with the exception of the Mex restaurant, but the Japanese, Italian, Seafood Grill, World Buffet were all outstanding. The Buffet (breakfast, lunch and dinner) is simply awesome, but you have to take a break now and then from such a large quantity and choices and eat at the other restaurants where you get a normal serving, and outstanding food. The bars are all great as well - well stocked, and such fun to lay around the pools with a drink in your hand whenever you want. Walking is essential, even though they have many many electric carts carrying people here and there, but it's a very large site and lots of walking. There are ample opportunities to sign up for several excursion offers as well, since this resort is remote (90 min from airport and 10 miles from nearest town - La Cruz). We didn't have to rent a call because there was so much to do at the resort, but we did take 2 excursions (one half day 4x4 tour to 5 beaches and one all day to the rain forest & a hike to a waterfall, and a coffee/cocoa/plantain/sugar cane farm which was very enjoyable and interesting. Excellent experiences and our 2 tour guides were very experienced and knowledgeable about what they were taking us to, that it made it fun and more interesting. We saw sloth, coatimundi, poisonous frog and snake, beautiful flowers, and a fun hike to the falls. This one also included lunch at a local restaurant near the park entrance that was very good food. The swim pools are outstanding! I'm a swimmer and many of them are so large that I didn't have any problem finding places to swim laps early in the morning before everyone hit the decks around 10am. Some of them run together, under a bridge, water falls into the next pool, and a swim-up bar that's fun. This resort is for families I'm sure, but we didn't see any teenagers, and only a small amount of babies/tiny children. It didn't seem like a place to take kids anyway because of all the adult activities.

dylangP5710OC (4/5): Overpriced and Underdelivered - The theme of our experience was "Overpriced and Underdelivered". Quality of the room and privacy is misrepresented by photos on the internet. We could hear our neighbors easy through the wall and the swim out pools were not private at all. It did not feel like a luxurious getaway resort, more of a timeshare/tourist trap. Constant upselling from the moment you check in, strongly pushing for at timeshare meeting with "gifts" on their up charged amenities. Additional sales pitches from variety of venders to walking on the beach, upselling standard options the spa, and most absurdly paying for bottles of wine at an "All Inclusive Resort". Please beware of the location of this resort, as it is 90 minutes from the closest airport and 2+ hours from all the excursions worth doing. Buyers beware of the "Preferred" club status as the exclusivity is not what is promised and is not governed at all. The say online there is 10 restaurants on the property but in reality there is 6, just overlapping of names at the same location. In addition, at the 6 separate locations for food options, averaging 6 or less entrees options per place and the quality is subpar. We did enjoy ourselves with the hand we were dealt, we just feel we severely overpaid for the experience we received.
JanieLZ (10/5): Dreams was a DREAM! - The resort is a gem. I was in awe of the grounds, the pools and the ocean views. We loved the World Market Buffet - it was full of a variety of delicious local foods, as well as many other foods from around the world. The staff are some of the nicest people in the world. Costa Rican culture will change you. And this resort is a wonderful example of that. We fell in love with the people, the breathtaking nature that surrounded the resort, and the all-inclusive accommodations. We were just there last week and have been missing it every day since. We miss our daily trips for gelato in the afternoon in the coffee shop, or the delicious Pina coladas on the beach. We loved this resort!

kimberlybM8558PD (6/5): Not worth the price. - This resort is not worth the money. There are a lot of nice pools, but the beach is very small and not well kept. There are only a few old chairs on the beach and no servers. The rooms are old and hot. Our room had a bad smell and never dropped below 74 degrees even though we had it set lower. The toilets don't flush well. Our AC shut off completely one of the days within our stay. The front desk workers were not on the same page as far as when things opened. The restaurants are mediocre. Overall, it was a nice vacation in a warm tropical place with a lot of nice pool area. But, for this price, we've stayed at much nicer resorts. The beach is small and not a place you want to hang out. The food is mediocre. And the rooms are old and hot.

We stayed for a week with 3 generations of our family, ages 11 to 83, and everyone had a great time. Lots of activities if you want to opt in. Be prepared to walk a lot, the resort is large. Also if you plan to do day trips around CR, plan for a full day. Finally, if you are shopping for beaded jewelry, Alexia at the beach has great styles and prices and will customize for you.
P5497WSjulies (10/5): Costa Rica Dreams! - This remote resort is the sort dreams are made of with gorgeous views, exceptional grounds, an attentive staff and fantastic amenities. A few insider tips.... order the after dinner coffee experience at El Patio, splurge for the spa and spend the extra time to indulge in hydrotherapy first, book the excursions - they are worth your day and order every sushi roll you can at Gohan just to get it delivered to you on a bridge tray. Also, if in a room with two beds, try them both, they are different! And finally, do the room backed up to the trees in building 5 or 6 and wake up by 7:00 a.m. to watch the monkeys. They come out by 7:30 every day!

The restaurants were ok, but we found the buffet was the way to go for most meals, usually offering a nice quality and variety for all ages. I did not like the obnoxiously loud poolside music for aerobics and such…but not a huge deal. Beach was beautiful especially at sunset. We hope to return someday.
Sylwia (6/5): - Dirty spa! They make you pay a lot of money for their services but you will not even enjoy the hydrotherapy because the water was super dirty, full of leaves and some disgusting foam. The water in the spa mad cold, no one was there, super empty. On top of that zero good entertainment, shows for old ppl. Food was good, quiet relaxing resort away from everything. Nasty beach, almost nobody wanted to be there, black sand. We paid $1200 per night, stayed there 2 nights and were bored the next day already. Overrated resort, expensive and nothing to offer. I would not recommend it.

The only real complaint is that my booking included a "$100 spa credit," except it only applies under certain conditions, so it was really frustrating that they wouldn't actually honor it even though we spent $200 at the spa.

EMILIO (2/5): - The resort fell short of our expectations for an all-inclusive luxury experience. The security check was informal, with no welcome or directions. No valet parking or proper luggage handling was offered, and luggage was left unsecured in a shared room. At check-in, we learned our room wouldn’t be ready until 3 p.m., which was fine. However, walking around the facilities, a staff member rudely informed us we couldn’t use the pool beds or premium drinks because we weren’t Preferred Club members—making the “all-inclusive” feel misleading. The front desk had also mishandled our reservation, confusing it with another guest’s. We reluctantly paid $315 for a Preferred Club upgrade due to my wife’s birthday, but the benefits were poorly explained. The room was spacious and clean, but we found a cockroach and had to call maintenance to fix the Jacuzzi. The facilities appear outdated, which doesn’t align with luxury standards. Among the restaurants, Portofino was the best, while the Mexican was the worst—serving Tacos al Pastor with uncooked tortillas. Broken furniture and unclear policies about bookings and dress codes added to the frustration (this was for other hosts; we read it on the app). Room service and the app were excellent, but the staff’s unhappiness was evident. One employee shared that they only see their child once a month, which is heartbreaking. Overall, I cannot recommend this resort or consider it for future travel unless significant improvements are made.
Jennifer (6/5): Could use improving - The room was so incredibly noisy. Got woken up by 7am every morning. They don’t let you make restaurant reservations. They told me it wouldn’t be a problem but wait could be an hour or they just turn people away for dinner. I called to get a golf cart to lobby this morning to catch our flight and no bellman ever showed to help so I had to run with bags and kids to lobby so we could get our ride and not miss flight. I honestly expected a lot more from 4 star resort

Drew (6/5): - My visit with Las Dreams was my honeymoon with my wife. While we had a great time, I know we would’ve had a great time just about anywhere for our honeymoon. I am slightly disappointed in our visit overall. I went to Las Dreams about 4 years ago, loved it, and that’s why I chose it as our destination. However, it seems the quality of the resort has went down. For starters, we had to call on more than one occasion to get our room cleaned. We were gone from 9 am - 4pm every day, do not disturb off. But unless I put cash on the bed, they would not touch our room. Every day I didn’t leave a tip, they would not clean our room, and we had to call. Lunches were atrocious, it didn’t matter how much alcohol we consumed, the food was not edible. Unless you went to the seaside grill, which was good. The walk up grills were absolutely disgusting, bones left in our chicken quesadillas, ice cold hotdog with soggy bun, hamburger that was sitting in a grease bucket, pulled out and thrown on the grill. I tried the burger anyway, absolutely horrid. Some of the worst pizza I’ve ever had in my life. The dinner at the resort is what saved the experience, each restaurant was not only finally edible, but it was fantastic, we were not disappointed with any dinner we received. One more thing that disappointed us was the upgrade to Preferred Status. Complete Scam. Only real perk is sit down breakfast, the preferred pool was packed each day, not regulated whatsoever. Great trip, negative experiences.

Hidden fees not previously disclosed, had to pay an additional fee of $50 per person per day in order to full access to the resort. In order to have full access to the resort amenities you're required to have "Preferred Status" and it was a little embarrassing knowing it was a birthday trip for my husband and I was under impression it was all-inclusive.

When we'd call the staff they would sometimes pretend they could not understand english and we'd have to hang up and call back. The food was also mostly bad. We were undoubtedly taken advantage of as this room is worth nowhere near what we were charged. I'll never stay at another Hyatt resort and will be sure to tell everyone I know no to either.

Lack of privacy in the bathroom, room was dirty, the preferred area is in the middle of the hotel and there’s no explanation of what it is, they removed the waiters in the pool as well. Food in “regular” restaurants was not good at all, the pineapple and watermelon juice had a weird taste, there were very few options for breakfast and I saw one of the “chefs” serve food with his hands and the clean his face the second after.

Arianna (10/5): Amazing Relaxing Experience! - My husband and I stayed here for the second half of our honeymoon trip. This was both of our first times at an all-inclusive resort so we were very excited. We truly had such an amazing, relaxing time! All of the staff were incredibly helpful, friendly, and very accomodating of our limited Spanish. The entertainment team had fun events each night. We really enjoyed trying each restaurant and found the food to be quite good everywhere we went. The quality of the alcoholic drinks changed a tiny bit depending on the bar/restaurant we went to, but we were overall quite happy with all of the drinks we tried. We loved hanging around the pools all day. The housekeeping staff were also very quick and did such a great job keeping our room tidy, stocked, and comfortable during our stay. We also saw many of the local animals around the resort. The monkeys were so cute, but we made sure to lock our patio doors as recommended because they surely would have tried to come in if they had the chance! We did not try any of the excursions, as we had already done a few on the first half of our trip at a local vacation rental. We were so happy with our experience, though, that we will be looking at other Dreams locations for future vacations!

The pools, rooms, and bathrooms were all very clean. Plenty of pool space for everyone to be spread out. Our favorite food was the poolside grill and the buffet. We tried the seaside grill and Italian and it was not that great. Overall it is well worth it for the price.

The dining experience was below expectations. Every night we had to wait for 30min to 1h to be seated. The food was below expectations. I enjoyed the buffet more because I could choose what I wanted and I didn’t have to wait for the food. Same for breakfast. At the pool was difficult to find chairs available unless I came early. The food and the drinks at the pool bars/restaurant were also very average and there was always a line. Night time - there was nothing to do. It’s a family resort so expect lots of kids running around.

It is seclude property and it is so hard to take excursions from there . In general we enjoy the time with friends.
