The place is very clean, comfortable, and has a calm and welcoming atmosphere that makes it easy to relax after exploring the city. The rooms are well maintained and everything feels thoughtfully taken care of. What truly makes this place special is Rahul himself. He is incredibly kind, helpful, and always ready to assist with anything you might need — whether it’s travel tips, arranging transport, or simply making sure you feel at home. His hospitality really adds a personal touch to the stay. The location is also great for exploring Varanasi, while still being quiet enough to rest well. I highly recommend Rahul Guesthouse to anyone visiting Varanasi. It’s a warm, trustworthy, and comfortable place to stay, and I would definitely come back again.

- Yadav (5/5): - Roof top restaurant Disappointing stay, not worth the price 😕 The overall ambience of the hotel was not good, and the location is also not great compared to other hotels in the same price range 📍. The room was quite small and not properly cleaned. The blanket provided was dirty, which was very disappointing 😞. When I asked for an extra blanket, the staff informed me that they did not have any. Their response was that since it was a double-bed room, one blanket was enough, and due to full occupancy, they couldn’t provide another one. This felt unprofessional and uncomfortable as a guest. Overall, the stay did not meet expectations 👎. You can easily find better hotels near Assi Ghat with a better locality, cleaner rooms, and more courteous service at a similar price .

- Madhava (3/5): Do not go by reviews as reviews seem to be from another time or not for double occupancy rooms - Courtesy of the owner Cleanliness, Room hygiene, upholstery hygiene, toilets hygiene, toilet area, everything was bad. If someone takes a double bedroom alone, be ready to be nastily surprised as the facility was probably built good but not maintained anymore. all old items lying around, super expensive breakfasts in a rundown and far away place from main ghat area hence you dont have a choice

When it was delayed, he went out of his way to go to the post office and send it to my new location! The hotel it’s self has well equipped rooms and very good shower. Some are better than others. - After a rocky start and a change of rooms due to cleanliness issues we had a nice stay at Rahuls, electing to stay on extra night. It is in the back streets about 10 mins walk to the start of the main ghats but with a great view of the Ganges and quiet. Some rooms are rather old and others have been renovated. We had a fully renovated bathroom in our 2nd room with fantastic shower and very clean.

- Silverthorn (5/5): Thanks for trying to meet our needs. This place has the potential to be wonderful. - Great location with beautiful Ganga views and a sweet garden. Rahul was a kind person and wanted to help us. Quiet spot away from the noise of the city, but also walking distance from restaurants and the ghats. Air conditioning systems were outdated and very noisy or didn’t produce cold air. We had to move rooms because of it, but the second room was unfortunately quite dirty and the water pressure in the shower was very poor. We felt overcharged for facilities that didn’t work. Overall, it’s really in need of some major upgrades and TLC.

Varanasi unfortunately affords very few places that have the combination I require: Nice room, quiet, view of The Ganges, friendly hosts & reasonable cost. My room was very nicely appointed with big bathroom with nice features & lighting. The neighbourhood is a 5-10 minute tuk tuk ride to attractions (20 minute walk to Assi Ghat) but I prefer this more tranquil 'suburban' location to the absolute chaotic insanity of the city centre especially for long stays. The host family is absolutely wonderful, helpful, kind & the entire staff is excellent. The restaurant is very good also with food delivery from local restaurants also with many options.

- Abhisek (2/5): Over priced, unprofessional and unsafe - Only the location of the property is nice you get a view of the Ganga river at the far but not reachable The property is over priced, we stayed in few other properties as well during our stay in Banaras which were much more comfortable with less price, we chose this property for new year thinking it’s going to give us some nice view and services, but the stay was no where close to what they are claiming, rooms where average and dirty, on the new year they didn’t even plan for a bonfire although 3-4 guest along with us requested for that they said this year we do not have many guest so won’t be doing that however we thought we will spend and celebrate on their roof top restaurant which they said would be open till 2 but after reaching there again 11 pm the property owner was drinking with his friends, they said us that you can order whatever you want by directly going to the kitchen and telling the cook, while I was checking the menu the cook came and closed the menu saying “nothing is available” basically he wanted to end his day so was in a hurry then they only gave us what was available we had dinner and went Back to our rooms, we also asked them if they can arrange a decoration inside our room, they said yes and charged us 1000/- after going back to room the decoration was not even worth 200/-, we know that it is some extra services that we requested but we didn’t request this to the property upfront they were already having decoration at their property and we asked if they can do it in our room as well, later the next day they started asking 500 more for the declaration which we were already not satisfied with, on the night of new years when the property owners were drinking at the rooftop I went there to ask for an extra blanket as it was very cold and but they were not even bothered to listen to our request and denied.

- Thomas (9/5): Great - Staff were lovely and accommodating. The restaurant serves good food for cheap prices. It's a 10 minute walk to the Assi Ghat and there's local shops nearby. There is hot showers. Overall had a lovely time here and would come back. There was issues with the WiFi whilst I stayed, it wasn't the guest house's fault but it was annoying.
- Ed (9/5): Excellent Views. - Near to Assi Ghat, the hotel is in a very peaceful location. It is perfect for meditation or just relaxing. I was warmly welcomed by the staff when I arrived. The room was large and ready for my arrival. Check in was very easy. The room had a great view of the Ganges and is great to watch the sun rise. After midday the balcony is in the shade so you can be comfortable sitting without becoming too hot. The rooftop restaurant is half covered so you can sit there without suffering from the sun or the rain. The view from here is amazing. The restaurant has a good sized menu and the quality of the food is very good and good value. There are also many excellent cafes and restaurants around the Assi Ghat area, within walking distance. I would definitely stay here again.

Very dirty guest house. wrost food and tea. location is worst near muddy area. There is no ghat at guest house location as mentioned. Dirty bathroom, no wiper , no patra. No room service Water stopped for 4 hours and it's hard to fresh. water pump not working. All over you will se spider and there nets. Ac is just working at lowest temperature only. Owner is just living in his own life. No customer satisfaction in this guest house. Spoiled our first time banaras trip due to this guest house. You will not get cab auoto easly from this location All the previous reviews written are very old or fake. I dont recommend this property to anyone as this is worst propert I ever seen in my life. Charges are very high according to this property.

The view from the room and their roof top cafe is breathtaking You can hear the sounds from all ghats. Can go boating by walking to nearby ghat The food they serve at their cafe is filling and tasty. If mithu their parrot likes you you can have a few minutes of entertainment Everything is great I find it a little overpriced maybe because it was in season but overall the cost won't bother you because you are in Varanasi Ohh though they inform you just a heads up you will have to take stairs to river view room

- IngeV1320 (4/5): What you see is not what you get.... - This is a family guesthouse runned by 2 brothers who are very friendly. So is the staff: the cook and Lakes who's very helpful. The location is great, quiet neighbourhood on walking distance to Assi ghat. The rooftop terrace has a great view! Breakfast was good. Unfortunately what you see when booking is not what you get! The room on the pictures when booking was much nicer and looked clean. Especially the bathroom. The square metres mentioned are not correct. Room was smaller then mentioned on the website of booking.com. There were several bloodstains on the bedsheets. The walls were dirty. The sheets are not fresh. The bathroom is not well mainained with loose toilet seat, black marks on the sides in the pot, loose tap of the sink, all the taps have limescale, the door was very dirty, ....Such a difference with the picture of the modern bathroom we thought we had booked! When mentioning these things to the owners they told us that the bathroom from the picture is one of a room more than double in price... They admitted that the walls should be repainted....they used covid as an excuse but covid seemed the perfect time to make some changes. Finally they offered us a better room for the remaining 2 nights but my husband didn't want to change rooms for only 2 nights as it was a room with seperated twin beds and no Ganges view. The rooftop terrace is nice but should be cleaned better. We planned to leave at night to catch a train to Khajuraho. The owners were going to wake us up and had arranged for a taxi to pick us up. At 3am there was no wake-up call. After getting ready and going to reception everything was closed and no-one to be seen. We waited but after 10 minutes there was still no taxi and we decided to leave as we were worried to miss our train but then the front and back gates seemed to be closed so we couldn't get out of the premises. We started banging on the doors and windows downstairs where the family lives. No reaction and still no taxi. Finally we decided to climb over the fence and walked to the main road. We found a tuktuk who drove as fast as he could and luckily we caught our train just on time. Stressful morning... We believe the owners mean well but if they want to attract more guests in the room we had they will have to make some changes starting with true pictures on booking.com, painting the walls and clean the bathroom properly.

- Vedanta (8/5): Good - Good, finish up the repairs as early as possible.My objective was satisfied.Goog view. Increase house keeping/ cleaning wings. Corridors etc dirty, it's not good. Room where I stay have some faint smell,so pl look into it. Wash room/ toilet needs to improve more.

- John (10/5): - The staff went above the call of duty. My group arrive late in the evening after a long day of traveling. We inquired about the potential of food and the staff quickly re-opened the kitchen and cooked a complete dinner meal for my group. Great people!
