• Juliette (1/5): Overall, the staff are lazy, rude and poorly trained, with a don't care attitude. - I only liked where the hotel was located and it was easy to get to the beach. The two office manager were professional and polite along with one of the mangers wife. The ginger juice in the morning was the best thing to drink, otherwise there was not much to like. The outside grounds was good for yoga in the mornings. Its not a place to spend your time there if you wanted to chill. Our experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing due to poor management, unprofessional staff, and overall lack of care for guests. The Director, Paula, appeared to be motivated purely by money and showed little concern for paying customers. Any complaints were brushed off and passed to the office manager. She also regularly walked her dog through the restaurant area, which was unhygienic and inappropriate. Staff seemed overly deferential to her rather than focused on guest service. The chef was extremely unprofessional and aggressive. When I asked for my burnt breakfast to be re-cooked, he became hostile, shouting and pointing his finger directly in my face. His behavior was threatening and completely unacceptable. We reported the incident, but no disciplinary action was taken. As a result, we did not feel safe eating food prepared by him and requested that someone else cook our meals. No guest should ever be treated this way. Food quality overall was poor—bland, badly prepared, and lacking care. It was honestly better to eat outside the hotel. Housekeeping was also a major issue. Staff frequently ignored requests for basic items such as towels or proper room cleaning. Our room was not swept or mopped properly, and we had to repeatedly ask for it to be cleaned. The bed was uncomfortable, with springs clearly felt through the mattress. Pillows were filthy and should be replaced. The hotel often ran out of towels, and the beach towels provided were old, stained, and unhygienic. They should have been discarded long ago. We were also promised complimentary coconuts that were clearly available on the property, but after asking, none were ever brought to us. The reception area is outdated and run-down. Chairs are old, covers are worn, and the space looks tacky rather than welcoming. The property does not match the photos advertised online, which is misleading.
• Holdstock (10/5): - A hidden Gem Thank you to the wonderful team at Ocean Villa Heights. This hotel is truly a hidden gem, as a frequent traveller it is rare to find a hotel that is small and friendly but still offers great service. The food was fabulous with a substantial varied breakfast with home made cakes and cooked breakfast alongside the usual buffet style seen at most hotels The chefs have mastered the art of combining African and European cuisine and the food was so good that I had to invite my friends along to try it for themselves The hotel is spotless with all of the facilities you need for a relaxed and comfortable stay. Just down from the hotel is a pristine beach a real beach bums paradise with a variety of bars (I still have many to explore!) But the best and most important things to mention is the staff, nothing was too much trouble and too many names to mention but their professional attitude and the warm welcome that they gave me has made sure that I will be returning to Ocean Villa Heights very soon

• Iben (10/5): Perfect holiday - Quiet and secluded. Small hotel, great service. It is a little old, but newly painted and clean. AC and hot shower worked perfect. Beach approximity is great. Fun, BIG waves. You don’t swim but tumble (not for small children). Hardly any people at the beach or at the hotel’s pool which is also kept very clean. But plenty of beach bars/cafes. And beautiful sunsets. Hardly any bugs, but there is also no humidity as such in February. We enjoyed the balcony with ocean view during siestas. Paula, Bibi and the rest of the staff were so kind and helpful with tours, use of paypal and late check out. Despite the small size of the hotel, the kitchen was open all day till 9 pm, with a rather large menu card. It is not 5 European standard stars, but definitely 5 African stars. I loved our stay and highly recommend it to anyone. It is a bit far from main street with ATMs (which may not work anyway) and super markets (approx 1 km). Other shopping is even further away. We liked the hazzle free holiday and didn’t come for the shopping, so to us it wasn’t important. The hall way is very big and does not absorb the sound of occasional slamming doors. Because of the little number of rooms this was not a problem to us.

• Priscilla (9/5): Heerlijk! - De ligging was heerlijk, weg van het massatoerisme maar als je daarheen wilt ben je er zo. Het stuk naar het strand viel ook mee, alleen eind van de dag de 75 tredes weer op inclusief kinderen en spullen was een workout. Op het strand is een geweldige beachclub. Het personeel was heel erg vriendelijk, de chef deed iedere ochtend zijn best en met alle werknemers van keuken, bar, beveiliging tot schoonmakers waren uiterst vriendelijk. Wij voelde ons onwijs thuis. Het is een accommodatie met niet heel veel kamers, maar juist dat maakte het huiselijk. Wij hadden als we ‘s avonds nog wat zaten te borrelen of biljarten soms het gevoel alsof we het voor onszelf hadden. De schoonmaak was goed en het eten ook. Ruime keuze op het menu van het restaurant. Wij zullen zeker terugkeren! Het is een grote ruimte waardoor het kan gaan galmen. Wij hebben kleine kinderen dus kan mij voorstellen dat het voor anderen dan gehorig kan worden.

• Kevin (10/5): Perfect in every single way. - Regards breakfast and food in general, Mr T and Sonya were fantastic cooks who prepared a lovely continental spread for us daily. They also offer cooked breakfasts as well. Furthermore the times of finishing breakfast dont really apply and they will continue to cook way past this time. Mr T's scrambled eggs were some of the best I have eaten. The evening meals were out of this world cooked to order and taste wise you could ask for more. Again the staff went out of their way to accomodate our requests. Accomodation was superb, location again superb. I also have to mention the other staff here. Mr Bibi, Amal, Nday and Caba. They are a fantastic team and made our stay super special. Paula the manager/Director of the place is also super friendly and runs a very tight ship. We will be returning here without doubt that yet again we will experience the most friendliest of welcome and most enjoyable stay. There was nothing we didnt like.....this was the perfect location for our 2 week stay in the Gambia.

• Melanie (6/5): Overall, a decent place to stay to rest your head. - The cooked breakfast consisted of egg made to your liking, sausages and beans. However, the Chef was accommodating if you wished to have it made differently. There was cereal, milk, tea, coffee and juice as well as fresh fruit -melon and papaya. The breakfast table also served as a pool table which was made available after breakfast time. We stayed in twin beds. Air conditioning was available to use. The water from the shower was always hot. The pool was available and towels were provided for the sun beds. Football was always on the TV - so the entertainment was just that but it was fine. The TV in our room was not set up and although we received a cable box, we were unable to watch the TV due to the low signal. There was a fridge but it was not plugged in and we had to ask for this to be turned on, of which took some days to do. The view was the back end of the hotel whereby all we could see was barbed wire and hanged out washing. I was also unsure if others could see into our room had they been looking out of their window. There was a kettle in our room but it had an european plug head and therefore did not fit the plugs in the room, so it couldnt be used and the choice of hot beverages in the room looked as though they had been there for some time. The shower was good, but perhap a hook or a shelf whereby guests could place their toiletries whilst in there. The stairway to the beach was steep and on one day there was a person sitting at the end of the steps who did not move although we were able to cross over OK but it was a bit daunting at first.

Always a delight to talk to, always happy to help and advice. There isn’t an aspect of this hotel that requires improvement.

Relaxing away from hustle and bustle but a short, cheap taxi ride if you want to - Ocean villa is like home from home, immediately felt relaxed, we had a larger room, well worth the money. Restaurant and bar with billiards and darts. Nice pool. Access out the back to stairs down to oceanside. Friendly staff. Quite expensive and doesn't take cards. Path down to waterfront is in disrepair and littered. "Partial ocean view" is highly euphemistic (see photo).

I have enjoyed every single minute of my stay at Ocean Villa Heights hotel, the room was comfortable, shower fantastic, breakfast was great and food was brilliant. Many thanks to Abdullah, Bebe, Muhammad the security man, Malang, Mbassi and the energetic girls cleaning the rooms and hotel. The hotel made my short visit to The Gambia so enjoyable, I will definitely come back in the future God willing. Thank you all, you have been amazing 😍😍😍 Mamoon Hotel is a good walking distance from the main road, but taxis are available.

• Cecilia (8/5): Not bad - The room was big and fully equipped, AC worked perfectly and everything was clean. The people working at the hotel were kind and attentive. The access to the beach is pretty cool. The bed was quite uncomfortable, too soft.

The kitchen and bar staff were helpful and friendly Paula, lovely lady is overworked and not receiving the support of her management team. Proximity to the seaside, taxis, weather , friendliness great. The area around the pool, and the pool itself are worn out. The breakfast service needed some attention! Safe was not bolted down! The Indian party was akin to hooliganism, badly behaved children and parents, it overspilt into the pool area, there was rubbish and purple paint everywhere and guests were unable to use the facilities. I would have thrown them out.

• Benjamin (6/5): Pleasant - Well positioned for visits to the Tanji Bird Reserve (about 6km). Pleasant, friendly staff. There was a smell of damp and mould in the entrance area to the room. The bed sheets were clean, but somewhat stained. When exiting the parking area to the road, the gatekeeper failed to secure the door which swung back and hot my vehicle.

She really cared for her guests and made the place feel more like a homestay than a hotel. Restaurant, but there’s a wonderful one next door

• Sam (10/5): The best hotel we stayed in in Gambia out of all 6 hotels. - The hotel was well-maintained and tastefully decorated. We loved the British red traditional phone box and post box out the front of the hotel the post box was also in operation, which was really handy to send postcards home. The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable, there was also a fridge and kettle in the room which came in handy. There was a really nice swimming pool in the center of the hotel, and it also had well maintained gardens all the way down to the beach. Which was only a 3 minutes walk away. The hotel bar was nice and full of character with a good wine list. Paula, the manager couldn’t do enough for us. She was lovely. All the other staff were also incredibly helpful and friendly. The breakfast was great. Plenty of variety and good quality with fresh juices and ground freshly brewed coffee which was a brewing ready for us when we got to the breakfast room every morning. They also kept calling noodles, Chinese spaghetti, which was annoying but funny!😂 You get people like that everywhere though. That’s not a negative on the hotel.

• Mike (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was extremely accommodating. due to flight delays we arrived quite late, but we were well greeted for our transport from the airport, and we’ll taken care of upon our 1 am arrival. And on the morning of our departure we had an early connection for a booked tour but the staff was able to arrange for an early breakfast for us.
• Susan (9/5): Superb - The pool was great ..all the staff were great they always had a big smile and were very welcoming . The chef is fantastic..breakfast is simple but they will cook your eggs anyway you want. Many areas of the hotel are showing its age but everything is very clean .A very nice gazebo at the back of the property was our favorite place to sit .The monkeys visit the property often and are a joy to watch . Paula the manager is very friendly and accommodating and allowed a late checkout ..and Burty the hotel mascot is the cutest little puppy . Will definately be returning . There was nothing we didnt like . But the safes in the room didnt work .
• Ajandhan (8/5): if you want to experience the real Gambia, Ocean Villa Heights is the place to be! - - comfortable room with lots of space - the Hotel is just at the Beach - nice host and staff - offer good tours - is not in the touristic area, so you will experience the real Gambia - sometimes power outage - not all power sockets work (some have loose contact)

Transfer cost €25 awful quote for distance 1 way to airport of 15-20 mins.Isolated from local shops.A large guest house that attempts to be a hotel.Prices at bar and menu reflect this.Limited to No channels in room during my stay.Place appears like an English large family home/ guest house. Beach inaccessible roads access roads not good.Menu prices of the scale No 24 hour service like a hotel. For a Tuley Gambian experience plenty other locations are better.Balcony very narrow and knees touch barrier.Aircon leaks onto that area constantly big slip hazard. Not suitable for children. POOL is also very deep.Over all feel Private home attempting to be a hotel.Not quite there for me as a regular visitor to Gambia 15 years 3-4 times a year.
• Inês (1/5): Bad - staff very friendly - my hotel room wasn’t ready upon my arrival (at 6pm) - very poor cleanliness - no one came to clean to the room during the stay (even though we proceeded as asked by the staff to leave the key room in a box at the lobby) - towels and bed linens full of stains and ripped - in the hotel’s Booking.com page doesn’t state they only take cash nor did they mentioned upon check in, and I was only told that at my last night (at 9pm)
• Sandra (8/5): - This is a lovely boutique hotel/ bed and breakfast . Small and intimate but exceeded my expectations. Room was large and bed very comfortable. Bathroom was modern and huge. Hot water not an issue. Tv stations limited and wifii spotty. Lobby and dining area decor were fabulous. 3 min walk down steep steps to the lovely Ocean blu beach greeted by friendly and very helpful Musa. Service was top notch on all levels. Breakfast was continental with cooked eggs to selection. Only downside was accessing the property from major roads- difficult as not many taxis go by and would be a good 20 min dusty stroll to a major road. Would stay there again nonetheless however with dedicated taxi driver and after buying my own data plan. Recommend highly.
• Anne (10/5): The perfect place to stay if you don’t want hassle - The hotel was perfect. Quiet friendly excellent food. The pool was clean and great. The bed was comfy and the beach was perfection. So much better than Senegambia. The boys on the beach were friendly. No hassle. Wonderful. Pauls was hardworking and fun. I totally recommend this hotel.

• Verified traveler (2/5): Fight at the Hotel - My stay was fine up until the last night when a fight broke out between a local and a guest. There was alot of shouting but turned out the local was well known to the hotel and was married to a British lady who I think was also a guest at the hotel. The local also claimed he was sleeping with the manager but I am not sure how true that is. In any case, it totally destroyed my holiday and in will not be returning.
• Mih (8/5): Paradise - Beautifully place, charming staff, near the beach, clean and remote.
• Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel is nice, small and cosy, however a bit isolated. The rooms were not in the best condition (roof looked like it was falling in and window nets were wobbly and unsteady). There was no main reception and no telephone in the rooms to call the office/"reception". Also, there was no one to pick us up at the airport although arrival time was given and the room was not completely ready upon arrival. Lastly, there was a wedding reception held on our last night, which they had "forgotten" to enlighten us about. Although the entertainment would've be fun for some people, we had our soon to be 3 year old child with us and it was our last night. We just wanted to relax but due to the event, which was held on the side our window and balcony were facing, we were kept up by loud music until 11pm. On the positive end the staff are very friendly, it is a very clean hotel and it is close to the beach! All-in-all I would not rate it a 4 star hotel. My rating would rather be a 2 star.
• MOON HYUK (10/5): - 이번에는 예약일정보다 하루 먼저 체크아웃하게 되었는데 호텔측의 배려로 하루분의 객실료까지 환불받았습니다. 현지와 호텔스가 연결하는 부분이나 여러므로 호텔스에 만족합니다. 또하나, 이 호텔의 좋은점은 아프리카의 여러호텔과 비교해 볼 때 와이파이가 상당히 잘 터진다는 점입니다. 아뭏든 객실담당 폴라씨도 아주 친절하고 근방 호텔중 추천1위의 호텔입니다.
• Alan (10/5): a little gem in a peaceful location - This is a charming small hotel in a lovely quiet location overlooking the ocean. The room was large, light and airy with a modern feel. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. I only stayed 2 nights off season but would love to return for longer. If you want to just relax then this is the place for you.

• Fanfan (4/5): Hotel tres bruyant - Je n'ai eu aucune des prestations pour lesquelles j'avais paye : pas de petit dejeuner complet, pas de cafe, pas de lumiere la plupart du temps car generateur coupe par economie, draps pas changes, ni gel douche ni shampoing, pas d'eau chaude.... La piscine est occupee par les enfants des proprietaires, bowling en plein air sous les balcons ou la proprietaire joue avec ses enfants et tout cela en poussant des cris en permanence en plus du bruit des boules et des quilles. Des ordres hurles des le matin de bonne heure.... Jamais de calme. Le manque absolu de repect. Des ouvriers en permanence dans ma chambre, un defile constant pour rien. Je pourrais ecrire un roman !

• retired couple (4/5): could be a little gem!!!! - position of room great!!!,room its self not prepared,not well cleaned ,television not connected ,shower/ no hot water,greasey/dirty shelf surfaces ,room badly decorated, odd fittings,sparsely furnished with 2nd hand furniture. NOT. 4* even by Gambian standards.Clearly completed on a very tight budget,no attention to detail .However the staff were great ,friendly and welcoming,food good great location,if a little isolated. Were assured things would improve and if they were to be? would go back.

A little noisy at times - owner could consider guests more when entertaining friends in the hotel in the middle of the night and building noise next door didn't create the most peaceful environment either. Otherwise nice little place, private, amazing service from the staff and great view on the ocean!
