• Kazue (9/5): 親孝行旅行 - アメリカからの里帰りで、高齢の親と私の息子達との旅行のため利用させて頂きました。着いてベッド部屋の変更もして頂き助かりました。ロビーも部屋も景色が素敵でした。 温泉は最高でした。お湯もとても綺麗でした。 父は食事に絶賛していました。種類も多すぎず、一つ一つ丁寧に作られてて、美味しかったです。小分けになっているお皿は、取りすぎないのでいいですね。アルコールやジュースの飲み放題もとても良かったです。 お部屋に持っていけるのが、ゆっくりと飲めて良かった。 浴衣の柄が珍しく、とっても可愛かった。 スタッフの方達も、とても感じが良い方ばかりでした。 古い建物ですが、とても清潔でした。清掃が行き届いてるなぁと感じました。 大浴場のシャワーヘッドの強さが、弱かったです。 歯ブラシは、大浴場の洗面台にあるといいなと思いました。 清掃の時間を忘れていて、夜中に入ろうとして閉まっていたのが残念でした。もっと入りたっかったー。なので朝イチ入りました。 ベッドがちょっと小さく、柔らかすぎに感じました。 部屋風呂は、高齢の親が入るのには高くて大変だったので入りませんでした。大浴場のお風呂の手すりがあって良かったです。 高い椅子もあったのですが、立ってシャワーの出来るタイプ(仕切りもあるもの)があるといいですね。

If you were not dining there you had little space to sit and enjoy a drink other than your room. Do not walk with luggage from the station - it’s uphill or up a trail with a 171 stairs. Bus stop near by. To hotel, Taxi service fairly easy. FROM hotel, taxi service sometimes available with your app - be ready to wait.

• Natsume (8/5): - 写真より実物は古い感じがしました。スタッフの方が優しかったです。24時間のドリンクバーや無料のカラオケなどアメニティがとても充実していたのが嬉しかったです。男性の露天風呂が無かったのが残念でした。女性の温泉はとても大きくて気持ちよかったです。夜と朝に温泉に入りました。夜には気づかなかったんですが、脱衣所から近所の駐車場が丸見えだったのには驚きました。また、朝に露天風呂に入った時に周りの客室や道路が見えることに気付き、もう少し目隠しを強化して欲しかったです。朝ごはんはバラエティにも豊富で美味しかったです。

• Kuppuswamy (9/5): Our Trip to Japan , Hakone hotel stay - It's a very calm and quite location to stay though a little far from the city center.would recommend for a peaceful stay here Travellers need to be briefed well on the facilities and amenities to them...we don't even know that the soaps and shampoos next to the reception is for the guests and was surprised to see no amenities are present in the room
• Marco (8/5): - Loved the Onsen and the amenities provided. Eat-in is kinda pricey so we ate Conbini food mostly. Walking to Hotel is not far from station BUT is uphill. The hotel has seen better days but overall it was the best value we found with on-site Onsen
• Mir (6/5): - The beds and pillows were very hard. Breakfast was OK. Take the K bus to and from the train station. The walk to the bus stop is dangerous because of blind spots in the street, so be very careful and walk on the shoulder areas of the road.The Onsen was good, men and women have separate areas. The staff were nice and helpful. You can take a shuttle bus back to the train station. It's more convenient and cheaper. You can take the K bus to the lake and from there, take the lake cruise to the Hakone Ropeway. From the Ropeway, I don't recommend the tram and the train route to the Hakone Yumoto station. It's too long and nothing to see.

The only downside was the distance of the hotel from the station. We had to walk for a long time with a carry on as it only showed 15 min walk on google map, but we ended up walking for well over 25 min and it was very steep. I guess we had to get a taxi. The arent many restaurant close by so we ended up adding the dinner and breakfast whichw were both bau

• Nora (5/5): Could have been nice - We had two big rooms which were nice after spending time in tiny Japanese hotel rooms. We were glad about the Onsen tub in the bathroom (although it costs extra and is pretty old). The beds were futons in this room and pretty good as they were like little mattresses (a modern futon probably). The condition of the rooms, ugh. It's okay to have an old hotel but: it should still be well maintained. Tapestry was hanging from one corner (just fix it?) and the balcony rails looked like they'd never been cleaned or maintained ever. I had to manually clean the shower head in order for more water to start flowing (barely any water coming out when we first tried to shower). Also: breakfast is okay, it was included for us.. but not a hit. Beware: dinner is just a joke. We were too tired to go down to the center on the second night (there weren't many places open the night before either btw) and decided to eat at the hotel.. it was ¥6600 EACH person for a buffet that was.. well.. not great at all. We just ate lots of sashimi to somehow make it worth it. That price/quality really ruined the whole thing for us, unfortunately. The hotel is kinda far away from the Hakone-Yumoto station but we knew that. The bus takes you up/down or there are steps between some houses that you can walk instead (going up can be a bit exhausting, wouldn't do that with luggage).
• Joel (8/5): - The hotel was clean and comfortable, with a nice hot springs onsen included (although a small municipal hot springs tax will be added to your bill at check out.) The hotel is a 20 minute walk from the station which is a haul with baggage, especially because you have to climb a bunch of stairs. There is a bus but it doesn’t run frequently. Of course you can take a taxi. A minor complaint is that they have a low table and chairs set up in your room and you have to move them yourself to set up your futon. I appreciated the mattresses in the closet- we put them on top of the futon which made it more comfortable.

• Melanie (7/5): Warm hotel staff, but rooms in need of maintenance and cleaning - The property offers different gimmicks from snacks to karaoke and onsen room. The family room was very spacious and could accommodate our family of 11 in two rooms. We used the onsen twice during our stay of two nights, and it was a good experience although I’m not sure if the water was clean. The free yukata for inside the hotel were really cute and the staff was incredibly kind and friendly to help us when we arrived close to midnight. The cleanliness is really questionable. There was a dead cockroach on the window sill, the shower room was super moldy and smelled weird. There were hairs in the sink and overall, the hotel is just quite run down. Breakfast was ok to average.

• Alan (3/5): Poor - Not a lot, it was too far from the town and when we arrived at the station we had to wait for an hour to get transported to the hotel, the shuttle bus was very irregular and we had to use it we we charged also the breakfast was poor and we had to eat with plastic forks and spoons, so not very green , we did like the room but it was very outdated and needed a reform I would not recommend it to anyone and we stayed in another hotel the next night within 5 minutes walk and it was so so different, it was a little bit more expensive but well worth the money the staff could not have been more friendly and we had the best breakfast ever
• JONGHYEOK (10/5): - 하코네유모토역 근처에서 가성비 있게 료칸을 즐길 수 있는 좋은 호텔입니다. 하지만 노천탕은 개방되어있지 않아 사용해보지 못해서 정말 아쉬웠어요. 저녁식사와 아침식사 모두 만족스러웠지만 저녁식사가 가격을 생각하면 아쉽게 느껴졌습니다. 그리고 호텔까지 갈 수 있는 셔틀버스에 대해 미리 알려준다면 정말 좋을 것 같습니다. 첫날 20분 넘게 걸어가니 많이 힘들었거든요. 아쉬운 부분도 있었지만 정말 깨끗하고 위치도 좋아 숙소에서 좋은 경치를 볼 수 있는 숙소였습니다.

Very comfortable beds and seating area. Great onsen. Enjoyed the range of buffet food in the evening. Location provided great forest view but normal buses and shuttle bus were infrequent so used taxis to and from town (about Y1200).

• stephen (8/5): - The hotel is old and in disrepair but everything works. The food is just adequate but the open bar with beer, sake, wine, shochu helps. The onsen was fine with one large rotemburo outside and three large baths of varying temperatures inside. The service was great though, the staff always greeted you with smiles and were very helpful. It’s a 23 minute walk uphill from the train station or an 800 yen ride by taxi.

• ChristineR1 (10/5): Loved it - I decided last minute to stay overnight in Hakone since I ran out of time and it had been cloudy (no views of Mount Fuji). It is a ways away from the station and I had to climb quite a few stairs but it was worth it. I had a suite with a living area, bedroom with 2 beds and table with seating area. There were plenty of extra pillows and linens or quilts in the closets. The two onsens were separated for men and women. When I was there, only one other woman was there and she was leaving. A self service bar providing beer and wine is in the lobby. There is also an extensive "borrowing store" where you get your hair dryer, robes, sandals, chargers etc. Staff was very nice with limited English but very adept at Google translate

• Patrizio (6/5): Look for a better hotel closer to Hakone Yumoto Station if possible. - Nice indoor onsen facility and the restaurant is pretty good. Difficult location far away from the Hakone Yumoto station shopping and restaurant area. Not really walkable due to steep hill and very narrow roads. Buffet dinner and buffet breakfast hot food was all cold. Lucky we found a microwave on the second day to reheat our food. Dinner buffet is way overpriced.

• Denise (10/5): Excellent service, far location - The people were amazing, the service was amazing….the only issue is that the location is very far from the station. Google maps says you can walk but it’s straight up a mountain and buses only run 1-2 per hour. Uber and Go-taxi don’t work

• Hana (4/5): - Although the nightly rate I paid was not exorbitant, it was still relatively high. Unfortunately, the buffet meals included with the room were extremely unpleasant. The dishes were overly salty, and the raw shrimp tasted stale, rendering it inedible. The excessive saltiness made all the food nearly unbearable, with only the fresh tomatoes proving to be somewhat palatable. Consuming fresh tomatoes as the sole acceptable option for two consecutive days was not what I expected after paying for a Ryokan experience. Furthermore, I observed mold in the room, and the onsen bathtub emitted a musty odor from the ceiling, greatly disappointing me.
• Vincent (6/5): Pleasant - Best onsen of our stay, especially the outdoor one. We were really disappointed by the dinner, considering the price we paid. We were not expecting a buffet. Moreover, this buffet was poor quality, with a lot of guests at the same time (what the point of asking our hour preference ?) and many hot meals were not at the right temperature. A really bad experience, hopefully there was free umeshu to balance it. Finally, poor quality service considering the price, as we had to lay out the futon by ourselves.

Nous avions pris un chambre familiale pour 8 futons. Nous étions 4 donc très à l'aise. 2 pièces ce qui a permis de dormir par 2 dans chaque pièce. Pour 8 ce serait un peu à l'étroit. Nous avons profité de l'osen avec un bain extérieur et 2 intérieur côté femmes. Le restaurant propose des repas sous forme de buffet très variés et de qualité. Nous y avons passé juste une nuit mais pas de regret.

I booked this hotel the same day and am so glad they were able to accommodate me. I spent a whole day in Hakone and wanted to see more as well as hopefully catch a glimpse of Fujisan. This hotel had a fabulous onsen which was not busy...there was only one other person there and she was leaving. They do have separate onsens for male and female. They bed was pretty comfortable considering Japanese standard is very firm.

When we stayed it rained almost throughout the day, but the views in the morning from my room was amazing. The staff was helpful, helped us keep our luggage before we could check in. The cleanliness is one area the hotel needs to work on. The balconies are not cleaned at all, so you cannot go in them. Some of the mattresses in the room were torn.

• Onur (10/5): Perfect place for a ryokan (tatami) experience at affordable prices - We had the tatami room. It was a great ryokan experience. The apartment was very spacious with separate bed room and living room. Bathroom and toilet were also comfortable and spacious. Decoration of the room was also great. Service we received at the reception was above world-class. Avalability of all kinds of baby equipments, i.e. bathtub, chair, clothes, shampoos, etc., at the reception was a great surprise. Breakfast was also plenty and of good quality. I would definitely recommend this property for anyone looking for a great ryokan experience at affordable price. Location was actually good but we had to walk to the property from the station at a late hour. It was not an easy or pleasant walk although it took only about 25 minutes. Availability of a service bus for pick up would be a great addition to this awesome hotel.
• Caroline (8/5): Very authentic , comfortable Japanese onsen hotel experience. - Lovely traditional Japanese onsen hotel. I speak Japanese but my family doesn’t and they found everything pretty clear - lots of English signs everywhere in the rooms, restaurant and bath. We had breakfast included - v useful if you have kids as there is nothing else close by - and we chose to have dinner also. Dinner buffet was not cheap but also a really good option as there was a good variety of food and alcoholic and soft drinks were included. Onsen bath is lovely and Yukata, towels, shampoo etc are all provided. The hotel is not new or glamorous but it is well looked after and the staff were nice. Buses run up and down the hill fairly regularly but not every 5 minutes! A taxi from the station cost us just under 1000 yen. Walking down to Hakone Yumoto probably takes only 20 minutes but it’s a steep hill back up and not much pavement. Bedroom was quite light in the morning and the actual bath and toilet rooms were small. But the main onsen bath offsets that! Apparently the onsen is not always open all week but weekends are fine.
• Takao (9/5): Great spa, breakfast, and clean room surrounded by cherry blossom-blooming hills. Walkable from Yumoto station if you do - Great location by cherry blossom-blooming hills. Buffet breakfast is excellent. A little too far from Yumoto station and bus services not frequent.
• Verified traveler (4/5): - We had a 2 night stay at this hotel. First, this hotel is on a hill, which is not obvious when booking. Taking a cab or the bus is helpful. We arrived to find that the bathroom had a dead bug and grime. We went to the front desk to request a cleaning, and were told this was going to be done. We came back after dinner to find it was not done. Nor was there any cleaning done the day after. We also asked if we could change rooms, but were told first that the hotel is fully booked, and the next day that "someone in charge" will be there in the afternoon to see about a room change. We never heard back. We asked hotels.com if we could get a refund and book a different hotel for the second night, but hotels.com could not get a hold of the hotel by phone. We looked back and noticed that for the room we booked, only one picture of the bathroom was available, and it was of the tub. The premium rooms were renovated, and the new bathroom does feature prominently, which is a misrepresentation because it made us think all rooms were renovated. The rest of the room was quite dated as well including very old mini fridge and safe. The breakfast is quite good. However, they do charge JPY 6600 for the buffet dinner, and we did not have it as we thought there were many cheaper options in town.

• Chikako (10/5): 綺麗な老舗旅館 - 一人旅で行きました。他のホテルより少しだけ高台にあるので、駅で『歩くと少し遠い』と言われましたが、川沿いを歩いて近道を通れば徒歩圏内です。 ホテルの人は感じが良く、食堂の係の人たちの手際も感じも良く、大げさではないのが私には楽で丁度良かったです。おもてなしの心が伝わりました。 前日に予約したので和室一人でした。 最初は少しドキドキしたけど（笑）、入ってみたら壁もリノベーションされていて綺麗でした。 夜はアルコールが21時まで飲めるサービスが嬉しかった！朝食も美味しかったです。 また行きたいです。

• Seung Min (4/5): - The hotel is located in the mountain top at the middle of the highway. The building was old and not very well managed. Most importantly, the outside onsen is closed so that I could not do a hot spring bath outside of the building, which was a bumber because I wouldn't have booked if I knew I cannot do a hot spring bath outside. It's dangerous to walk the highway afte the sunset (i.e. can get hit by a random car) so I had to take a taxi from Hakone Yumoto Station to the hotel. Staffs were friendly, but the property appears very old.

• Narelle (1/5): Terrible Hotel and not recommended for foreign visitors - The only thing I liked about the Hotel was that it was in Hakone. We didn't feel welcome; the room was not clean, the sheets were not clean, and we were given towels for each guest, but there were no hand towels, bath mats, or toiletries in our bathroom. Most of the signs were in Japanese, with only one English sign, so we were uncomfortable and didn't understand the spa protocols. We arrived at 2 pm and were told we could not check in until 3 pm. The hotel had no food available, and they provided very limited assistance about where we could get a meal. The next bus was one hour away, and we were lucky to hail a taxi back to the train station to get a meal. The whole experience was extremely disappointing and expensive. The meals were very ordinary, although the spa was okay. Overall, we were devastated by what was meant to be an indulgent cultural experience.

• Jayelle (9/5): Warm, friendly and excellent service. A home away from home! - We loved the amazing staff who were so kind to us tourists! This hotel provides authentic Japanese hospitality. We liked our family size garden view room. The buffet breakfast was very good. The free drinks (including alcohol) was so generous. We loved borrowing the yukatas. Thank you to the hotel staff who made us feel at home. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they did their best to understand and communicate with us in English and our limited Japanese words. Such a cool hotel with a karaoke room for free hire too. It isn’t luxurious but it is warm and friendly. The room itself was older but clean and comfortable and we loved trying the traditional tatami mats with futon beds. Great view from our 9th floor room! Just our private shower room was very old and had mould. But we literally only used it to take a shower rather than use the traditional communal baths. Also it is a steep walk up from the main Yumoto station so I highly recommend contacting the hotel to make use of the $1 shuttle bus to take your luggage up when you arrive and leave.
