Keely (6/5): - I don't think I've ever left a bad review for anything before but I think there are some things that people should be warned about. First, the good: the location is beautiful and the restaurant was excellent. An argument could be made that that's enough to warrant a stay here. Next, the OK: the state of our room was pretty shabby. The loveseat was broken, a toilet was consistently running, the refrigerator and kitchenware was kind of gross. The roofs are literally just palm leaves so you can hear everything happening around you - I could clearly hear a couple's argument in the casita next door and their phone's alarm going off repeated the next morning. We aren't too picky so we would have been happy to look past all of this. However.... There were some truly bad things about this stay: First, the door to our casita (#32) didn't lock. Or rather, the lock engaged but didn't stay engaged when you tried to open it. I don't know if this is the case for all the doors or just ours. As a result, some drunk people broke into our casita at night while we were in bed thinking it was there's. It could have been much worse that confused drunk people breaking in. And second, the pool was dirty/cloudy. I hoped it was just from sandy people coming in from the beach. But the kids spent hours in the our pool both days of our stay and all 3 kids in our group came away with horrible ear infections. Our daughter is three days into antibiotics and no improvement yet. Same with the others.
Verified traveler (8/5): Beautiful place, just in need of a couple tweaks - Overall, this is a great resort in an amazing location. There are however, some things that made it a 4 star stay rather than 5. First, they put us directly next to the kitchen and loud restaurant music, despite their low occupancy and they refused to move us until the following day. As a result, my baby had trouble sleeping, and thus so did I. Second, the swimming pool is beautiful and large; but the surface is so rough that it will cut up your feet if you're not careful. My kids swam with water shoes to avoid cuts. Third, the restaurant is over priced and service is mediocre. The servers stand around instead of proactively picking up all the leftover beer bottles and towels surrounding the pool. Finally, I found it off-putting that the resort charges extra for their beach chairs and umbrellas. That's typically included with the cost of a hotel. We ended up buying a surf lesson from a shop down the beach that was less expensive and included chairs & umbrellas all day. On a more positive note, the location cannot be beat. I love that it's a smaller property instead of a giant hotel. The grounds are beautiful. Gabriel was the most helpful and friendly employee- gave us a lot of great recommendations. We would return again.

Phil (10/5): Beach Week at Cerritos Surf Town - My wife and I returned to Cerritos Surf Town after visiting with our kids five years ago. Cerritos Beach has gotten busier over time, but the experience at CST is still very relaxing and comfortable. Staff are welcoming. We spent a lot of our time sitting on our ocean view hut's porch watching passing whales spout, surface, and breach, and the rest of the time walking the miles of little used beach to the south. Barracuda Cantina has moved just to the north of CST, so fresh fish tacos are literally a short walk up the beach. CST is not fancy, but it is a great value for the price.

Alex (6/5): Great spot, some issues - I would love to give the place a better review. The location is perfect, the pool area is great (pool could be a tad warmer), and the staff was generally great. We could not overlook the overwhelming septic smell around our casita. I brought it to the attention of the gentleman at the office but nothing was done to remedy it (the tank was left uncovered because of some work being done). We travel to Mexico often and are used to the showers off gassing a bit but this was something else. It was difficult to sit on the patio.

Sharon (10/5): - We loved the view and closeness to the beach, we watched the surfers and whales from the patio. The ocean and beach were clean and the water was clean and warm. We had fun playing in the waves the king bed and pillows were super comfy! The beach and gardens were well lit but thankfully did not shine in the windows. the sound of the ocean was amazing! The suite was clean and spacious. We felt safe. We loved the huge pool and the hot tubs but thought the pool needed at least a couple underwater lights. There was nothing making where the steps were to get into the pool, no railings, and the hot tubs were hard to get in and out of. The gardens and premesis were well-kept and pretty to walk through. We were not happy with the lack of kitchen equipment (no microwave, toaster, pots, basic seasonings/oil) and there was no counter space. We didn’t like the surrounding roads. We suggest having a plastic bin on the patios to wash the sand off your feet and guest books in the rooms. A book of things to see and do in the area would have also been a nice touch. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful.

The restaurant has some decent options for dinner with a higher then average price range. We found blood on one of the pillow cases. Loved the hammock. The pool was cool and the hot tub broken during our stay.

Verified traveler (8/5): Can't beat the oceanfront location - Overall, this place is amazing. Staying in a beachside villa is so relaxing and beautiful. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. There were workers doing renovations and general upkeep all over the resort (but, in no way disruptive to our stay). I'm sure some of this was due to the hurricane that came through a few weeks ago, but the overall resort was clean and in great shape. Cerritos does have some electricity issues, but that is an overall city issue. I would absolutely stay here again if I go back to Cerritos

Suzanne (8/5): - We loved the property the only complaint was we could not get our room cleaned Check in Friday by Sunday we asked for clean up they did also on Monday 2 days service out of 5 nights. Staff was very friendly would stay there again. Maybe they had staffing issues
Ian (4/5): - One word - filthy! Dirty bedding - crumbs in bed. Hair on pillows. Bathrooms hadn’t been cleaned. Pool had garbage and slime in it. Location is fabulous but the property is in desperate need of repair and maintenance. Rooms are dark and musty and furniture is old. Screen doors were falling off tracks. Staff (other than new front desk lady) seemed indifferent and less than engaged. It shows in how the property is being taken care of.
Ashley (4/5): - We were very excited to stay here, however upon checking in we were met with a very unclean bed. The sheets had clearly not been changed from the last guests as they were dirty, full of hair and sand. We requested new sheets and they came in to change them. The new sheets did not have sand or nearly as much hair but they were full of yucky looking yellow and orange stains. Not just a few stains. A lot of stains. The room amenities were adequate (fridge, sink and safe) but it was definitely cold at night, especially with the uncomfortable bedding. On the second and third days we woke up with red bite marks on our hands and feet. I had seen small bugs in the bed but I thought maybe they were sand or beach bugs so I tried to sweep some out of the bed sheets and ignore them. We didn’t get much sleep because the sheets just felt like they were crawling with something. We did some research after getting more bites and they were definitely bed bugs. Gross!!! Though the beachfront was a nice view, our stay was extremely uncomfortable and unpleasant and I would not recommend staying here! We’ll plan to return to Cerritos Beach area, but we’ll stay across the road at the other hotel, So Far So Good. Much cleaner and more comfortable, even without the beachfront property. Not the review I was hoping to give, but beware if you book a Studio Ocean Front room, chances are it will be dirty and have bugs. Maybe the larger, more expensive rooms are cleaner?
Sean (8/5): - Great property right on the beach and with a pool and hot tub. Easy access to the surf and beach walking. Staff were helpful and communicated well. The property needs some maintenance and the rooms are sparse, however, it remains a fun place and good value.

Eric (10/5): - This place was exactly what we were looking for. Not too busy, quiet, clean and everything was conveniently within walking distance. The beach, pool, food, surf rentals were all very close. It was beautiful, quiet and the staff was so nice and helpful. We will definitely be coming back!
Corinne (4/5): - Cerritos Surf Town casita was perfectly situated on beautiful Cerritos beach. It was quite & clean but unfortunately the casita is in dire need of updating. Peeling paint, stained toilet, cold shower and extremely uncomfortable seating and bed. Both hot tubs on the property were luke warm. Not worth $220US/night.
sandra (10/5): - Great surf beach. Great staff. Room 8 does not have A/C but definitely not needed since it was very chilly at night and the thatched roof is open to the night air. Since the room has an open type roof, you can sleep with the sound of the waves all night, was very relaxing. Bedding was wonderful, plenty of covers. Great porch, right on the sand at the ocean to sit out at night. There was no hooks or bar to hand any clothes. The front desk provided a blow dryer after I walked over to ask for one. There is a refrigerator in room and utensils. Curtains do not actually fit the size of the windows well enough to close all the way. I had a clip to help. The food was good and large portions. Margarita cost $10. Very large steak Nachos, $12.

Maureen (10/5): More than I expected - The service was impeccable. We were met at the gate by a guard who directed us where to park, escorted us to reception and carried our bags. Check in was informative and swift. The rooms were much larger than it appears in the pictures with a very private bedroom. I had asked for sheets for the sofa bed and found they instead moved a queen size platform bed into the living room (which is large enough accommodate it without being crowded) and had it all made up for us. The kitchen is sparse but has what you need to reheat leftovers or make a simple meal. It took me a while to find the pots- but they are there on the top shelf of a very tall cabinet. The bathroom is gorgeous.
Mike (10/5): - Was great! Highly recommend this place if you’re staying there. Things close around the area at 9pm so the hotel is kind of the latest thing in the neighbourhood.
Canyon (10/5): Baja Beachfront Bliss - I love This hotel. It’s not perfect or luxurious, but it’s a perfect representation of the Baja experiences… simple beautiful beachfront location, authentic Mexican style, a good vibe.

Erica (10/5): Favorite Place on Earth - I hesitated writing this review because I love this place so much that I want to keep it all to myself! After spending a few nights in San Jose del Cabo and HATING the five star resort we were at were so happy and relived to pull onto the dirt road that lead us to Cerritos Surf Town. Now THIS is Mexico! The staff were so friendly and attentive, the pool was amazing, the view from our beach front villa was a dream. I really do not have any complaints. Most of our days were spent on our patio watching the grey whales migrate up north, relaxing on the beach outside our front door and eating delicious food. We had such an amazing time that we already booked our next trip out in March! We cannot wait! Thank you Cerritos Surf Town!

Verified traveler (4/5): Overpriced/Dirty/Decrepit - Really disappointed. Overpriced. After seeing all the reviews I was really excited to stay here but my place was dirty and falling apart. Upon using the bathroom for the first time I found hairs both on the sink and in my shower. The shower drain smelled so bad which permeated the entire place. Poor lighting, holes in the screens, struggled to open and close windows, paint chipping and falling off walls, this place is in desperate need of repair, I’ve stayed in Econo Lodges near the beach that were cheaper and nicer than this place

Becky C. (6/5): Resort need lots of TLC - Room was very worn. Only had 1 chair in it. I asked for another chair and housekeepers came looked around then left. I guess one person was supposed to stand up whenever in the room. Drinks at pool were $9 with no alcohol in them? Chairs around the pool are broken, no chairs or umbrellas set up on the beach. Hot tub was cold and not filled. Beach as always was beautiful.
Verified traveler (8/5): Rustic Surf Haven - Beautiful view with easy beach access. If you're looking to spend the entire trip at the beach or surfing - it's great! A little more rustic interiors however and not a lot of walking shops/food around. Great for outdoorsy folks!

It’s also close to some AMAZING restaurants! Everything is within a 15 min drive. We loved the quaintness of the property. We definitely be back!
Liz (8/5): - Location cannot be beat! If you are looking for a place on a swimable, surfable beach, then this is the place. The actual rooms are very, very basic and not all that clean, but people were friendly, pool was great, beach was amazing.
