• Ty (9/5): We loved our short stay at Balcon and would happily stay there again. - Location, ease of parking, staff was very friendly and helpful. Their sister hotel’s restaurant (1/2 block away) offers phenomenal breakfast. Nothing we “didn’t like”, exactly. But the bed and couch were not the most comfortable I’ve ever experienced. Would have no hesitation to stay here again.

• NAHÚM (2/5): - Los garrafones que tienen en las áreas en común para tomar agua, están sucios todos, se ve que los rellenan y no los lavan, tienen hongos, tome fotos, lo reporte y sin el más mínimo asombro contestan! Ok, lo reportamos.. pero no los cambian, no dan alternativas y si así están los garrafones ya no quiero pensar en todo lo demás. Mala experiencia,

• Chun Pun (6/5): Good location but not like a hotel - I don't think this is a hotel, it is like an airbnb. I arrived at Xalapa around 12 pm from Veracruz, then I was hoping to drop off my luggage at the hotel if my room is not ready. I can only see the sign "Hotel" but do not know where is the entrance. Then there are couple garage doors and at the end I saw a bell which I rang. Someone answered in Spanish (sorry my Spanish is not good), and of course I won't be able to Google Translate to show them what I wanted. They did not let me in. Wait until someone came out from the door then I went inside to see if I can talk to the front desk. There was only a girl (I believe she is the room keeper) and she cannot speak any English. At the end I used my google translate to communicate with her and she told me the check in time is 2pm. No one offered me to keep my luggage so I have to drag my luggage with me (the roads is not flat and lots of steps). So I went back to the hotel at 2pm and rang the bell. They did not let me in and until a guy came out and asked my booking (with Expedia). I said yes so he let me in. So whole check in process was weird. You can only reach them by phone (which no one speaks English). The room itself was clean and big. But it has no fridge. At night time and early morning the traffic noise is loud. Other than that they provide free parking inside the garage. I guess it is good for the local only but not too foreigner friendly.

Easy, secure parking in indoor garage just around the corner. Huge, comfortable bed. Very helpful staff member. Spacious room, large balcony. Hotel restaurant appeared to be open only at lunchtime but it didn't matter.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Not as advertised - The listing states that there is air conditioning, however the AC unit wasn't connected and it was hot in the room. There was a fan provided. The listing also says there is a flat screen TV, it was not. (Not a big deal except there was a USB device I needed to plug in) Front desk is not 24 hours and there wasn't enough TP provided so we had to wait until the next day for more. Checkout time was listed at 2pm online, but I think it was actually 1. That ran my credit card without asking if that's how I wanted to pay. It was a very clean hotel and water pressure/temperature we're both excellent.

• abraham (10/5): Hotel cómodo en lugar céntrico, turístico a una cu - Fue excelente, el personal muy atento, comodo, silencioso, muy privado, amplio, el café que regalan delicioso, la habitación incluia servicio con cafe diario para hasta 10 tazas y dos botellas de agua potable, muy limpio, el baño es muy chico, si estan gorditos no lo recomiendo porque no entran en la regadera ni taza, la tele esta anunciada como pantalla plana y es muy chica y el modelo no es plano y es muy viejita, pero tienen gran contenido de cable, la entrada al hotel es por interfon, muy privado todo, nunca fuimos molestados por nada y los servicios muy agradable. Incluso cuidaron mi equipaje y me permtieron un tiempo de tolerancia after check out. Definitivamente volveremos

• LUIS (6/5): Dejar gente en recepción - El único detalle es que debes tocar el timbre para entrar y esperar que lleguen caminando de otro hotel a la vuelta para que te abran la cochera y el acceso al hotel, se debería considerar tener alguien 24 hrs ya que aparte de incomodo es un tanto inseguro estar esperando solo en la calle en lo que te abren.

El único punto negativo es que no cuenta con aire acondicionado y si se llega a sentir un poco de calor.

• JUAN (8/5): Bueno para una noche - El hotel tiene una entrada en la calle posterior por lo que hay que tocar el interfon y esperar a que alguno de los empleados vaya a abrir, la habitación es muy amplia, pero el baño es demasiado pequeño, la cama es dura, tienen mucha iluminación por los amplios ventanales y eso es un punto a favor, tienen servicio de café lo cual se agradece, el estacionamiento solo es para 5 autos y en ocasiones se quedan vehículos afuera que impiden el libre paso de los mismos huespedes.

• arturo (8/5): hotel con buena ubicación - el hotel me gusto mucho tiene una buena ubicación una vista a la montaña, no me gusto que la cama estuviera dura, en el cobertor había cabellos, que para registrarme tuve que esperar que una persona bajara de la parte de arriba de la cuadra, y que para salir al día siguiente como no había nadie que me atendiera yo tuve que subir una cuadra a dejar los controles y pagar, y como saben las calles en jalapa son empinadas y cansadas de subir.

• Ellen (6/5): Think twice about this one - Room was bleak, balcony a rectangular white box with floor consisting mainly of grate w/view of parking garage. No plants, nothing. Jr Suite has microwave and fridge, but not a kitchen utensil or plate in sight. I had trouble with the in room security box. Twice staff came to help me, and after each time the combination, once again, would not work. Finally I gave up. No front desk staff is there after 5 on weekdays, or at all on weekends. Felt a bit creepy at times. All this being said. The front desk staff, housekeeping, and maintaince staff were all kind and helpful. Oh, it was quiet. That part was nice.
• Bettcita (10/5): Wonderful accomodations - Wow. Don't know where to begin, other than to say, this is one of the best $25/night hotels I've ever stayed in. We stayed in the gardenia suite, which was a large, spotless room with a wall of windows and an outdoor terrace with table and chairs. Friendly staff . . . speedy WiFI . . . free covered and secured parking . . . plenty of hot water and good water pressure . . . complimentary, in-room coffee and bottled water . . . hair dryer . . . king-size bed . . . reasonably priced laundry service . . . 24 hr. security. The property is well located, just a few blocks from the beautiful Parque Juarez (a must visit when you're in Xalapa). Trust me, if you stay here, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

La habitación me agradó mucho ya que era bastante amplia, el único problema que noté fue para acceder al hotel, ya que se tenía que tocar el timbre y nombrar el número de habitación, sería mejor si se diera alguna llave para entrar, o bien, si estuviera abierto todo el tiempo. También sería bueno que pusieran cubiertos (aunque sea de plástico) en las habitaciones.

• Gustavo (8/5): Cómodo, espacioso y muy céntrico - Me he hospedado varias veces en este hotel. Y siempre he estado satisfecho, el detalle de esta última vez fue la limpieza de la habitación. No se si se debió a que se encontraban todas las ventanas abiertas cuando llegamos, pero estaba muy sucio de polvo y tierra. Como si hubiera pasado mucho tiempo sin limpiesa. Y un pequeño detalle, ahora ya cobran 100 peso más por comision los de Expedia. Sale igual que ir a reservar personalmente la habitación, si ya eres cliente frecuente igual y te sale mas barato ir.
• Alan (8/5): Clean and close to Parque Juarez - I booked our one week stay, online, and everything went very smoothly. Check-in was fast and easy, and the room was bright, clean and spacious. There was a lot of street work happening on the other side of the block, causing A LOT of traffic to be rerouted directly in front of our room, and it was very noisy. If not for that, I'd have rated everything excellent. (It looks like the traffic should return to normal in the not too distant future).

• Juniper (10/5): Week long stay - We were originally booked for 2 nights but ended up extending for a week. This hotel was great for us. The room was large and received a lot of sunlight. We had a table and balcony and one wall was all windows. (Gardenia room) The wifi was strong for working (we are digital nomads) and the hot water was HOT. The lighting in the room was fantastic and it was also nice to receive bottles of water everyday. Breakfast was served at their restaurant around the corner and was something I looked forward to every morning. The only downside is that the room gets chilly in the evenings!
• DLGMEX (8/5): A Treat to See and Taste - An incredible value with their promotion which included breakfast. Room was clean, bright with a view of Pico de Orizaba (Citlaltépetl) and el Cofre, nice towels, hot water, good tv & internet... our one night stay continued for three more days... Yes, parking tho' provided, was a bit of a challenge but staff did just great to help with the car. And one other initial issue was the nearby electrical power transformers' humming along... perhaps the hotel will be able to dampen/block that noise. After the first day, we didn't notice it. NOW, best for last... the hotel's restaurant is a genuine pleasure even were I a local to Xalapa. We recommend wholeheartedly the great local coffee from Veracruz, the excellent freshly squeezed orange and grapefruit juices, and the Huevos Divorciados and Chilaquiles del pollo to die for... freshly baked breads and pastries add to restaurants business... every table full every day with overflow and yet, no wait... Lovely service from all and especially Lilia, a very attentive and wonderfully friendly lady. We will return.
