Guest Reviews
- Frank (10/5): Loved it - Did not eat breakfast as I don’t have breakfast in the mornings location was great Maybe a anti slip Matt in the shower as it is a bit slippery when wet
- John (10/5): We will definitely come back, love, love, loved this place. - We were 2 couples staying in The Vines. The place is just beautiful and spacious. The king beds are next level comfortable. Both king bedrooms were spacious and had there own ensuites. Between the ensuites in a room able to be secured for privacy is a 2 person spa. The location is perfect, right on the Riesling trail. The scenery is gorgeous. Great undercover deck with blinds to keep out the weather all complete with comfortable chairs and big table, along with an electric BBQ. Good provisions for a continental type breakfast (cereal by Carmen and Uncle Toby's , 1 litre of milk, 1 litre of quality orange juice, and 1 loaf of bread. Butter, jam, honey, and Vegemite catering sachets, coffee pods, and a tea caddy with some very unique teas). Wood for the slow combustion heater for one night (additional can be purchased in town). The aircon is reverse cycle and very efficient. There is a washing machine here, clothes airer, ironing board and iron.
Also special mention to Megan who was very responsive every time I contacted her, including allowing early access to drop off our gear as we were heading out for lunch prior to check in time. We are personally not fans of electric BBQs as they are so inefficient to cook on with unstable heat distribution. We would have preferred eggs and greek yoghurt as breakfast options, and more bread and milk given we were 4 adults the 1 litre of milk gone within 24 hours and bread 48 hours...we were there for 72 hours.
We also didn't find the indoor dining chairs overly comfortable and a little low...minor issue as the place is unbelievably comfortable.
- Dianne (9/5): A treasure in the Clare Valley - Everything. What a beautiful little getaway. The breakfast was simple but great. The bed was comfortable with lovely linen. The shower was hot with great pressure. The whole cottage was quaint and beautifully appointed. We felt very rested and welcome in the cosy space. I hope we get back there one day soon. Nothing, it was lovely.
- Gary (9/5): Thoroughly enjoyable - Clean, well appointed. Great location Nothing
- P Welch (10/5): A lovely, well prepared and outfitted cottage, probably the best we have seen in over 10 years. - The place was very well presented - from the cleanliness, to design of the rooms layout, to the amenities available, to the kitting out of kitchen, bathroom etc. Two comments - we had troubles before arriving on figuring what cottage we were staying in. It was not written on the confirmation email, it was alluded to on the day-before email, and mentioned later. However, when we arrived, the instruction to proceed through the parking slot of another cottage to ours was just too much for we oldies to cope with. So we tried to use the key code on the wrong cottage. Second, there is a small drip into the toilet bowl, noticed on our second night. I could have tried to reset the valve, but didn't want to precipitate a disaster. It is so small the next occupiers may miss it.
- Kayleen (10/5): Convenient & comfortable with generous amenities - Great location overlooking the Riesling Trail so great access to go for nice walks & within walking distance to a winery. We stayed in the Fettler’s Cottage & the cottage itself has everything you need and very generous provisions, quiet, lovely gardens, great stay!
- Jenni (10/5): A truly lovely stay in a delightful cottage - highly recommend! - What a fabulous stay in this little cottage. Just delightfully furnished and very comfortable and fitted out with everything you could need. Fromt he moment we wlaked in we were relaxed - it just had "the vibe". Felt like you were right out in the country although Clare was on the doorstep and everywhere we wanted to visit within 30 minutes. If I had to be super picky, some blockout style curtains in the bedroom would have been nice, but honestly its a minor point.
- Karina (10/5): Great weekend getaway with friends. We will be back! - Great location, facilities, breakfast provisions. Close to wineries, Reisling Trail, Bike hire. Easy communication with host. Mixed messages from Booking.com re directions to cottage
- Daniella (8/5): We enjoyed a mini vacay - Great location
Decorated beautifully We felt the breakfast provisions were light on
- Peter (9/5): Well maintained, charming cottage that has all you need. - Generous breakfast provisions, for example lots of coffee pods, cereal and toast spreads. Cottage set up high overlooking a band of mature gums, lots of birds to greet you from the balcony in the morning. Kitchen set up with more than you could need to self cater, with extras like olive oil etc. Plenty of space for a couple. Access was easy by text. Car under cover in case of rain. Good value.
- ykeung (8/5): 洗衣設施不足 - 屋內整體設施滿意 設有洗衣機但沒有乾衣機,亦沒有晾衫設備。車路比較狹窄
- Kylie (10/5): Perfect cottage stay - Beautiful little cottage, perfect for our short stay. Breakfast provisions were fantastic. Great location. Loved every minute. Wish we stayed longer.
- Peter (9/5): Great cottage and we would recommend. - The location, it was right on the Reisling Trail. We were in a semi-rural location and were entertained by the wood ducks. The size and facilities were all we needed. We cooked a couple of dinners there. A bit sad the hot water was not hot on the last morning, and I only worked out how to change the gas bottle as we left.
- Michael (10/5): -
- Grant (10/5): Extremely relaxing. - Brilliant cottage in a brilliant location. Excellent provisions in fridge and cupboard. The proximity of the Riesling
Trail was very handy. Everything was great.
- Steven (10/5): Fantastic - Location. Well furnished. Thoughtful provisions. Next to Tim Adams Winery. Right in the Riesling Trail.
- Diane (10/5): - The atmosphere; the owners had thought of everything to make our stay welcoming.
Great location.
- cvetka (9/5): - Well appointed cottage, tastefully decorated and very clean. Great location for the Riesling trail.
- Tim (10/5): Cosy, comfy, well located & very well priced coach house. - Bright, airy, great location (easy walk to nearby coffee shop, Riesling Trail & Tim Adams Wines. Balcony too although we didn’t (but next time) use for an afternoon/ evening drink (cold!). Nothing other than another day or two would have been great
- Sophie (10/5): The cottage is located next to Tim Adams winery. A great way to start a holiday. The cottage had everything you could - Wonderful location and well equipped cottage. Perfect for a weekend away with friends Absolutely nothing
- Angela (9/5): -
- Dee (10/5): - Comfortable, clean and excellent proximity to the Riesling trail, to town and bike hire
- Matthew (10/5): Absolutely perfect with an amazing atmosphere - Breakfast was great.
Fresh bread and milk, an assortment of jams and spreads as well as a range of muesli and cereals to choose from.
With all the utenisls and appliances to make a perfect breakfast.
Great coffee and an easy to use coffee machine too! Nothing. It was absolutely perfect. I cannot think of one thing that I could suggest to make this place better. You will not be dissapointed with your stay here
- Tamara (9/5): - Beautifully presented, cosy cottage a fantastic relaxed gateway ideally located for the Riesling cycling trail, historic Auburn and Clare. One tiny suggestion; kitchen really well equipped, but could not find cereal bowls to enjoy the delicious complimentary cereal provided. Found 1 plastic bowl so no drama, but may need to add 2 ceramic bowls.
- Steven (9/5): -
- Barbara (10/5): Lovely stay at St Helen’s - Beautiful decor and lovely location
- Louise (10/5): What a fantastic place to stay. We will be booking this property again. - It was well positioned and well appointed.
- Sarah (9/5): Great stay and lovely outlook - Charming Bathroom was a little dated.
- Elsbeth (8/5): -
- Lennica (10/5): Perfectly relaxing in a beautiful location. - Great location, beautifully furnished, very comfortable Nothing
- Jo (10/5): We had great time at the cottage, it was perfectly clean in a great location, - Great cottage for the two of us. Perfect location to access the riesling trail.
Loved that we had bread and cereal supplied for breakfast. The only thing that could have made it better was a King Size bed, but that's only because we are used to that size. The bed was fine for two nights.
- Frances (10/5): A wonderful peaceful time to get back to nature. - Location was excellent. Breakfast provided was very generous. Bed and bathroom were very luxurious.. Nothing
- Quarisa (10/5): Honestly, our stay was perfect. - We visited Clare for a wedding and had a large group. We rented all four cottages, and it was the perfect accommodation for everyone.
Each cottage was clean, beautifully styled, amenities were great, thoughtfully stocked with supplies, and the location could not have been better.
Megan is a beautiful host. The aircon wasn’t working late at night, she came over to the property and fixed it immediately, with no hesitation (turns out it was user error).
We will absolutely be back again! If I was to nitpick, we would have loved a pen and a deck of cards, or a game or two.
- Lorraine (10/5): Awesome cottage - lovingly designed - comfy and awesome location with verandah overlooking Reisling Trail in a bush sett - Everything! We stayed in Coach House Cottage, It is obviously a labour of love as every detail has been thought of. Breakfast supplies were included, yummy packet of Tim tams and bottles of water in Fridge and a delicious bottle of St Helen’s Shiraz! It was cosy, comfortable and an awesome location on Reisling Trail. The cottage is beautifully set up. I honestly can’t talk too highly of this place. Nothing
- Deanna (10/5): Best staycation - Plenty of brekky options, juice, milk and butter in fridge. Even chucked in a loaf of bread. Some of the windows were possibly painted shit and could not be opened.
- Mark (9/5): Great place well facilitated comfortable and well positioned to enjoy Clare. - Very comfortable and well appointed. Appeared to have all bases covered. Lots to do in the area but felt also nice to spend some time in the accomadation. Met my expectations. Door lock needs some attention.
- lynne (8/5): -
- Franco (10/5): Perfect getaway in a beautiful part of Clare. - Breakfast was perfect for starting the day of winery tours.
- MARK (10/5): Amazing property in a perfect location.Perfect for 2 couples. - Great provisions provided for a continental breakfast. Nothing
- Colleen (10/5): Magnificent place to stay whilst exploring Clare. - Wonderful location. Very cosy and quiet. Beautiful scenery and wildlife.
Exceptional facilities, and a lovely welcome gift on arrival that was appreciated.
Owner was very welcoming and gave us some lovely ideas for exploring during our stay. Will definitely return again. Would be good to have another armchair as the sofa wasn’t big enough for 4 adults.
Maybe a shelf in the bathroom to place toiletry bag.
Other than these suggestions the place was magnificent.
- Rachel (10/5): Beautiful location and accommodation for romantic getaway, would definitely rebook in Winter. - Great continental breakfast provided, easy walk to bike hire, situated along the Reisling trail. Personal touches like tim tams and complimentary bottle of wine were much appreciated also.
- Orazio (10/5): Beautiful cottage with everything - Decor and quality of “The Pavilion” cottage furnishings were very well thought out, and of the highest quality.
The breakfast and snack provisions were ample and very much appreciated.
Perfect Location! NA
- Amanda (10/5): A wonderful property to spend a few days relaxing. - The property is easy to find from the road. Travelled on a 38 degree day and the aircon and fans were already on for a cool arrival. Kitchen was well equipped and the food supplies were generous.
The spa bath was a lovely feature. Nothing
- Caprice (10/5): We are grateful for such a beautiful accommodation and will definitely book again - The property was absolutely beautiful it was like I was at home I love the property
- Tammi (10/5): - The Coach House is beautiful in every way. The amenities were great, the comfort factor, the view, the location, all perfect. If we come back to Clare, we will definitely book here again, highly recommend. (Note, we were 2 adults and 2 teenagers; it would be snug for 4 adults) Nothing, it was all lovely.
- Mark (10/5): Perfect place to stay for our weekend getaway. We’ll definitely stay here again. - What’s not to like about Fettler’s Cottage at St Helen’s Cottages! Clean, comfortable, airy. From the facilities to the amenities, it had everything we wanted or needed.
- Janet (10/5): -
- Anne (10/5): A cosy and well appointed place to stay - A quiet, cosy location with very clean facilities and everything we needed. Right near the Riesling Trail which was perfect for a walk into town
- Layla (10/5): -
- Daveena (9/5): Calm and serene. - Great location with lovely outlooks. Very comfortable and tastefully decorated in neutral tones. A welcome wine and Tim Tams was a lovely touch in addition to the milk, orange juice and breakfasts (including gluten free cereal!) We expect to return! The water from the taps wasn't very palatable! Best to purchase some beforehand if you're not fond of the typical South Australian drop
- Ritsuko (6/5): - Clean, nice deco and good kitchen facilities. The air-conditioning wasn't working well. Unfortunately we stayed during the hot days. Could not use the big and beautiful bathtub as I was feeling too hot inside the room. Couldn't sleep well with the heat.
The room was super clean but so many bugs came inside the room after dark, especially to the bedroom. We had 3 bug zappers but still got bitten by several kinds of insects while we were sleeping.
There was a bit of a gap in between the main door and the floor. I guess they should place a door seal or some sort.
- Andre (9/5): Pretty cottage perfect for two couples - Very pretty, nicely separated rooms with the living area in the middle. The little fireplace is charming. The coach house doesn’t have laundry facilities but the owner advises it is on the top of her ‘to do’ list.
- Sonia (10/5): Delightful short break, very comfortable with a roaring fire to keep us warm! - Very comfortable and cosy, great location close to Clare and Riesling Trail
- Raewyn (8/5): -
- Thomas (10/5): -
- Mark (10/5): We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return! - Breakfast was great, the setting was lovely in a great location and the cottage was spotless.
- Tony (10/5): Wonderful position and facilities, would come back - Wide variety, so catered for all guests,
- Wayne (10/5): A perfect cottage in Clare! - Was such a gorgeous cottage that was very well appointed and absolutely spotlessly clean!
Great position and definitely would highly recommend!
- Miranda (10/5): - Absolutely gorgeous place ! We came in summer and found it cooled perfectly but keen to return in winter with the fireplace!
- Fernanda (10/5): A perfect and romantic place. - We simply fell in love with the cottage. Everything was perfect, and you could see the attention and care in the smallest details. The bed felt like a piece of heaven; the silence, peace, and harmony were exactly what we needed for a relaxing and peaceful weekend. Furthermore, it's a short walk to a place where you can rent bikes for a lovely ride among the vineyards. The cafes and restaurants in the area are also charming. I'm eager to return in winter, which must be even more spectacular. Absolutely everything was perfect.
- Jessica (9/5): Excellent cottage in a great location - Excellent location. Private but still close to conveniences and the Riesling trail. Everything we needed was there. Appreciated the little touches and food that made us feel so welcomed. Nil.
- Hiro (10/5): - Small and cozy, it makes travellers gather closer. There was everything that we needed, and everything was nice and clean. It would be perfect if there was a chess board.
- Jay (10/5): Hidden Gem - We had the most incredible stay at this cottage! To be honest, the photos don't even do it justice. From the moment we walked in, we were struck by how cozy and well thoughtout everything was. Has clearly put so much love into this space. It was spotless and made it feel like a true sanctuary.
- Vrinda (10/5): -
- Rayman (10/5): With our first time in Clare, we went in with no expectations. But St Helen’s Cottage surprised us. It has to be one of - Absolutely everything! It is beautiful and a must stay for anyone who is visiting clare!
- Dene (10/5): The cottage had everything we needed for a truly comfortable stay. It was located adjacent to the Riesling trail and was - Charming ambience.
- Eric vW (9/5): Really good accommodation and good location. Will book again if we visit the area. - Really comfortable and clean accommodation. Nothing.
- Judith (10/5): - Beautifully furnished and comfortable.ideal for 2 couples
- Edwin van Ree (10/5): Very relaxing weekend away from our busy lives. - We stayed in two of the cottages, which both were similar and very well maintained. The location was in a natural setting, many trees and flowers. The bed was great, the shower and bath very good, everything worked very well. The manager is lovely and very helpful. Nice welcome gift. Not much to say here.
- Peter_Stewart (10/5): Location Comfort and Facilities made for a great stay. - The location was beautiful and quiet. The cottage itself was fitted with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The supplied breakfast was more than sufficient. If we go back to Clare, we know where we will be staying! All was more than great, so no complaints.
- Brianna (10/5): -
- Ken Kirkland (10/5): Wonderful, very happy with the stay, great accommodation, nicely appointed, would book again - Great location, great vista, secluded, gr8 access to bike track
- Jodie (7/5): Very clean, host restocked wood pile daily and communication was great. - Properly clean and all amenities as advertised. On busy road road.
We thought the property would be on on a quiet estate.
But nice and close to local shops and wineries.
Quite overpriced for size of property and small double bed.
- Charmaine (10/5): -
- Debbie (10/5): Fantastic property with the wow factor. - The property was absolutely perfect for two couples, beautifully furnished and so clean. Two identical sized king bedrooms with huge ensuite bathrooms. The kitchen, dining and living areas were superb with ample seating options and everything needed to make for a very comfortable stay. We were able to cook our own meals using the electric bbq, convection microwave oven and stovetop. The fully enclosed outdoor area was the perfect spot to watch the sunset with a glass of wine overlooking the vineyard. The washing machine was appreciated to enable us to have clean clothes to continue our travels. The continental breakfast provisions were ample and the bottle of wine and treats delicious. The location was excellent for us to hire bikes within walking distance to ride the Riesling trail with lots of beautiful wineries nearby. The duck family with their babies was a delight to watch. Our visiting friends from England loved the property so much that they booked a second stay prior to travelling back home. Nothing. It was the most amazing accommodation.
- Patricia (10/5): Very comfortable and relaxing. - Beautiful outlook and the balcony out the front was great to sit on in the afternoon. Directly access to the Riesling trail and 500 metres from a winery and bakery. Everything you needed in a lovely cottage. We didn’t realise it wouldn’t have a washing machine
- Danielle (10/5): Perfect! - In was quaint, with ample natural light - gorgeous property. Perfect location - walking distance to wineries and Gin distilleries.
- Caitlyn (8/5): -
- Tom (10/5): - A beautifully appointed cottage offering both comfort and style, just a short drive from Clare and surrounded by the region’s celebrated wine trail. With its serene atmosphere and close proximity to award-winning wineries, it’s the perfect destination for a rejuvenating weekend retreat.
- Brad (9/5): We will stay here again - Nice and private. Very cozy
Everything you need for visit to Clare Wineries and surrounding areas No issue here
- robyn (10/5): -
- Catriona (10/5): Perfect location, beautiful & comfortable accommodation. We wished we had longer! - Beautiful & Central Location - right beside The Riesling Trail, walking distance to Bike Hire & Shops. Accommodation Facilities were fantastic - we wished we had longer! N/A
- Paul (10/5): Great place to base at Clare - A wonderful couple of nights at this lovely roomy cottage. A large under cover deck with huge table suite to enjoy the vineyard views no matter what the weather day or night. Quality furniture and decor. Two huge bathrooms with separate room with large spa bath. We couldn't fault anything. Wish we could have stayed longer! Next time! Nothing
- richard (9/5): -
- Anthony (10/5): A rural experience only minutes from the town of Clare. - We’ll set up, nice ambience.
- Knibbs (10/5): The best cottage - Every thing excellent
Highly recommended Nothing
- Alvin (9/5): -
- Moloney (10/5): -
- Dr Lizze Reid (10/5): - Amazing weekend
- Steven (10/5): -
- patricia (10/5): Loved our three days in The Coach House for a special occasion . Would definately stay again . - Beautiful decor and provisions . Gorgeous outlook and very close to Riesling Trail . Very quiet and cosy. Lots of little details Nothing
- Peter (10/5): Extremely clean and comfortable stay in an ideal location. - Extremely clean, spacious, comfortable and private accommodation.
Communication with the host was first class.
The location is ideal for visiting Clare Valley wineries and villages nearby.
Every possible need has been thought of and catered for, including breakfast, firewood and even a bottle of wine.
We would definitely stay at St Helens cottages again. Nothing I can think of.
- West (10/5): - The Vines cottage was the most perfect cottage we have stayed at. Both bedrooms were exceptional with beautiful ensuites and a shared spa bath area.
It was equipped with everything we needed and was in great proximity to the Reisling trail, bike hire not to mention a few cellar doors! Thank you
- Carole (10/5): Beautiful cottage in a magical place. - This was our first visit to this region and we are so glad we chose St Helens Cottages as our base. What was not to like. We stayed in the Fettlers cottage. So thoughtfully presented and super clean. We cooked all three nights and the kitchen was so well equipped. We sat out on the balcony late afternoons and took in the peace, serenity and birdsong. Lit the fire each evening. We were appreciative of the wood bin being filled each morning. We really felt at home. Highly recommend Cannot think of a thing. It was hard to pack up and leave!
- Aussie (10/5): The place to stay in Clare Valley - A tastefully decorated, homely, comfortable, clean and fresh cottage which is peaceful and has a wonderful outlook. There was bread, orange juice, cereals, milk, butter, oil and a few other items including plenty of coffee pods and a great coffee machine. Great place to stay in winter as there is a reverse cycle air con and a wood fireplace, electric blankets and heat lights in bathroom. It was lovely and toasty in the cottage. It would also be nice and cool in summer with ceiling fans and aircon. It is a charming cottage in a very pretty area. Tim Adam’s Winery is a short walk up the road and a Bakery and Greg Cooley’s Cellar Door (which often has entertainment on a weekend and is open 7 days a week) is around the corner and down the hill. It’s a few kilometres drive into Clare township.
