Guest Reviews
- Geoffrey (8/5): Overall it was fine. - Overall it was fine. It was a pain to eat breakfast as you had to cross a busy street to get to the lobby/breakfast area. The street traffic seemed noisy even with the heater on to drown out the traffic sounds. The room was very large.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Garden CIty - roomy, clean and comfortable. well furnished. parking a little cramped
- Verified traveler (6/5): - decent place decent space no hot water in the morning was a shock though
- Sara (4/5): Disappointed - Got no smoking room. Burns in bedstead. Curtain rod bent and almost torn loose. Door not sealed good-bugs came in around edges.
- Maggie (10/5): Hidden Gem - We were very surprised with our room, in a good way. It was huge, like a small apartment. We have stayed in places that cost alot more, and were dumps. We will be staying here again!
- Betty (10/5): Recommend highly - The motel was remodeled very nicely
Was very surprised at all amenities.
Large sitting room in bedroom
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Comfortable, quiet room. Overnight stay for business trip.
- Shawn (2/5): - Will never stay here again. This place is a dump the proprietor is a conniving cheat. Doesn't care about what he sticks you in. The room I had smelled like a sewer pond. Then when I told him about it he downgraded me. Had to call hotels.com to chew his butt out and to force him to upgrade me back to the bed size I had reserved and something that was clean that I could sleep in.
- Eric (6/5): - Good for the price.
Only bad thing...flies i literally combat to get rid of them
Everything else was ok
- dona (8/5): - Very roomy, clean. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Very nice suite. I'll stay again if I'm in the area.
- Stoney (6/5): Nice motel - Not as cool as I normally like my surroundings and there was a bad smell in the air. Over all the room was larger with micro wave and fridge, fairly clean. For the price I would recommend it.
- Jeffrey (2/5): Nothing New - except the dirt. - The New Sunflower Inn is not new... if anything the only New part was the growing mold in the tub area.
If you are desperate go for it. If you want to stay in a place then look elsewhere. Management showed us 3 room before we even considered staying in one.
The rooms smelled musty, curtains were falling from windows, fire alarm was not connected.
- Jennifer (10/5): Great! - Room was nice sized, clean, price was awesome, no complaints
- sue (10/5): A gem in Garden City - This is a gem in Garden City KS. The room is spacious, the bathroom has good water pressure , parking for the motorcycle right outside the room and the price is unbeatable ! I arrived late but the owner had no issue checking me in, very friendly and after a long day on the motorcycle, the bed was very comfortable, the area quiet Breakfast is continental and the coffee is strong and hot.
- David (6/5): Catch some rest - It's an old motel notting fancy in an old part of town, the mattres from the bed was pretty
The stay was ok for only the hours spend to catch some sleep.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Room was horrible. Loud neighbors dirty no window
- Russell (2/5): Nasty smelly filthy - Smoke musty smell, leaky toilet, towels dirty, holes in walls, missing smoke detectors, carpets filthy and torn, this is December 2016, DO NOT STAY HERE, BETTER TO SLEEP IN YOUR VEHICLE..
- erin (10/5): Older but SPACIOUS. - While the hotel is clearly on the older side, the rooms were huge, almost small apaetment sized, with outside acess (which I personally enjoy). Clean and.comfortable.
- Verified traveler (6/5): pay the extra 20 bucks for a better hotel! - Front desk was very unprofessional. The room size was good, however everything else was disappointing. Two very flat pillows, room phone did not work so I had to walk to lobby to ask staff for WiFi password. WiFi was horrible. TV only played one channel and there was no remote. I brought this issue up to front desk and was handed a new remote with setup instructions. I asked for a couple extra pillows and was told they wouldn't have any til later and to come back in a couple hours. Toiletries in the room were so low quality that they were unusable, had to go buy a bar of soap. On the nightstand someones hair ties were laying there. I had to brew my own coffee at breakfast , never once saw an attendant at breakfast. Bad, just bad.
- Andrew (4/5): Drab - Drab furnishings. Not a good desk for business travel. Uncomfortable desk chair. Breakfast pathetic.
- Karen (8/5): Very nice last room with lots of creature comforts - Nice relaxing area with sofa and chair. Nice small kitchen with microwave and fridge.
- Pamela (8/5): - Just a quiet place
- Deanne (2/5): Old and rundown. Had a dinosaur for T. V. - Wasnt expecting the hilton but definetly not 3.5 rating that was shown.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Lost in translation - "broken wifi" too remote!!!! - wifi broken or doesn't work, hard to do business when this is the main reason for selecting amenities such as this, and a "continental" breakfast which consisted of bread, cereal, coffee and apple juice. No oJ it was empty as was fruit basket and no staff in sight for hours! Jelly was old, frozen waffles to toast but were thawing in bread cabinet! Nice price but could have gotten better than this at any cheap hotel
- mark (8/5): nice overnite stay - it was good, comfortable bed.
- William (2/5): - The room wasn't up to par on it's cleaness and the carpet was very dirty and at 3:00 am I got awaken by some strange lady banging on my door saying she was the manager and the windows was not so clean to where I could see out of so I put the chain on the door and open it and I quickly closed it and immediately called the front desk and the guy couldn't understand what I was saying so I hung up and it was very hard for me to go back to sleep. This hotel isn't safe to stay in without security
- andrei (8/5): Good stay for one night - Clean room, staff was friendly.
- Brian (6/5): Acceptable - You get what you pay for
- Verified traveler (10/5): suprising luxury - big, clean room. living room area, recliner, kitchenette. best hotel surprise ever.
- michael (4/5): Drive by. - Garden City?.............a misnomer. "New" Sunflower Inn?? also a misnomer as the Inn is not new....just a new name for an older hotel. Hard to check in as the staff doesn't understand English very well....two attempts to get the key card to work. The towels were so rough that I would be afraid to use them to wash or dry my truck as it would scratch the paint I'm sure. The price is right though. You get what you pay for.
- Jenny (8/5): BIG room - I rather enjoyed my stay here. The room was BIG. It was just me in a king size bed. There was a couch, bar area, big area with big mirrors to get ready in, coffee pot with coffee, and a microwave. The room was clean. It probably could use some updating. But didn't feel gross. It was a cold November night so I did sleep in my flannel shirt and pants.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice economical hotel with large suite. Better value than the new chains in town.
- Eric (8/5): Cold and windy night - I was impressed with the room for the money.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room had a few ants and was taken care of immediately. The room had a lot of room, but the bathroom was small.
- RaymondG (6/5): Not bad - We had a one-night stay in a very large room with two queen beds, a sofa, and a small dining table. The price was right. The beds were comfortable, and the place was clean. The hotel is a little older, but that wasn't a major issue for us. The location was questionable. There were several people roaming the area/streets late at night, which made us nervous. But we had no problems out of anyone at all.
- Terry (6/5): looking for an inexpensive but clean overnight. - huge suite, clean & decent furnishings. newer hvac, still a bit loud, not a fan of no interior hallway motels, but have no choice at times. no one was paying attention at breakfast to replenish coffee & food items, choices were sparce for the price of the room. half of these rooms are across the street from the main hotel as ours was, the less expensive ones I guess. makes it a little harder to access the office & breakfast. This whole city is overpriced on hotel rooms & we stayed here as a lesser of two evils. Staff were friendly & accommodating except for being absent in the morning.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice. Comfortable. Friendly staff. Only complaint I have is that the cold water didn't get very cold.
- Steve (10/5): Helpful staff and large suite. - Checking in was extremely easy. Staff were friendly. I forgot some of my paperwork I needed to have for checking in and the clerk worked around that to get me in a room quickly. Clerk let me email the paperwork after I got back to my office. Room was clean. Suite was larger than expected. Only negative thing I could say is that the room I was in is about ready for an update. It is coming up on time soon to replace carpets. It was nothing that bothered me but some people would have more of an issue with it. There was a jungle of wiring under the writing table that was unattractive but didn't keep me from getting a good night of sleep.
- Sonia (8/5): - Friendly staff. Room was very clean, comfortable and spacious.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place to stay! - The staff was very friendly and the room was nice and clean. We will stay here again!!
- Peaches (8/5): Nice Older Motel Close to Garden City Airport - The manager is very friendly and Nice! He upgraded my room to a suite, without me asking to do this. The room was clean and comfortable. It is an older style and furniture, but had a couch and recliner, small kitchen with refrigerator and microwave. No Coffee pot! The bathroom and shower was nice. The bed was very comfortable. It was extremely cold outside and the in-room heater worked without a problem. I was comfortable! For the price of the room I was very Pleased and would stay there again.
- Ashton (8/5): Great Low Budget Find - The owner is very friendly and accommodating. The free Wi-Fi was a perk. The continental breakfast could have a few more options. The accommodations are older, but the cleanliness of the rooms more than makes up for it.
- Verified traveler (2/5): bad bad bad - its was nasty!!!! not clean at all mold in the bathroom dirty towels I use a towel out of my car that was under my daughters carseat over theres worse place ever!!:-)!
- Verified traveler (8/5): For a small hotel off the beaten path - I was absolutely thrilled with this diamond in the rough. I believe this place to have new management and the guys running this place worked really hard to make sure I was happy. It won't be forgotten. I will be staying here every time I stay in Garden City. Compare the price to larger chains and you will find great value at the New Sunflower Inn and Suites.
- Ashton (8/5): Great price! - The hotel is undergoing renovations, but it's very clean and has a friendly staff.
- Rose (8/5): Nice stay - The hotel is an older one in town but has been remodeled. I had a very large room with a comfortable queen bed. There was a lot of open space in the room with a large closet and the bathroom was very clean. It was hard to find the room with the ice machine. The breakfast was only cold cereal, toast, muffins. For the price, the hotel is a nice place to spend the night when that is all you need.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Would stay again - was not expecting too much for the price that I got when i booked online, but was surprised when I got to the hotel. room was clean, quite, no bugs. Management was very pleasant. would stay again
- Robert (4/5): You get what you pay for! - When I walked into the lobby, there was a smell that was not very pleasant. The room had the same smell and the carpet needed some attention. It looked like there were blood stains on the carpet near the lavatory. I was afraid to walk with out socks on in the room. The pool was not open, a group of other guest were standing outside till really late at night making quite a bit of noise. I would not recommend this place nor will I stay here again.
- Jeff (6/5): Inexpensive stay, but well off the beaten track - decent, clean, quiet room. Located in a somewhat isolated area with no amenities nearby other than a restaurant across the street that was neither open the evening we got there... or the next morning. Good for an inexpensive 'overnight' on your way somewhere else.
- Roy (6/5): Great place for budget travel - This is a great place if you are looking to stay somewhere in Garden City without spending too much money. It doesn't have all the ammenities of a big chain hotel, but if you just need a place to lay your head down at night, this is the place for you. Bed was big and comfortable, but could use a couple of extra pillows. Continental breakfast was pretty weak, but did have cereal and a couple muffins. Room was pretty clean overall, a few small improvements could be done as far as maintenance, but overall was fine.
