Guest Reviews
- jqbircham (10/5): -
- Glen (8/5): Bargain ! - My regular budget night stay for work around Norwich
Breakfast always a highlight The muppet who parked his car outside my window at 5am who sat there with the engine running for 10 mins ….
- stuart (9/5): Very good. - La Patron was super helpful and friendly
- Tristan (10/5): Great value stay. - Friendly staff, great location - could walk into Central Norwich easily and great breakfast.
- David (7/5): - Excellent
- Christopher (8/5): Very Good - The William IV offers excellent value for money for anyone looking to visit/explore Norwich.
It is within a 10 minute of the train station and within easy reach (about twenty to twenty five minutes’ walk) of the city centre (with a multitude of pubs and restaurants) and attractions such as Norwich Cathedral and Norwich Castle.
The staff at the William IV were friendly, helpful and polite.
Several choices are provided for breakfast including cereals and cooked options – including the option of some very nice sandwiches.
The room I stayed in was very quiet – despite being attached to a pub there was no noticeable noise.
- Harrington (6/5): Ok place to stay for one night - Pleasant room with good facilities You can hear pipe work noise
- Mackie (9/5): - The staff especially Lorraine were superb. Very friendly and helpful The decor while clean was old. Although the bathroom was large, the shower cubicle was very small
- Harry (4/5): - The staff were very friendly They advertised food in the evenings, but, had in fact stopped all evening meals six months ago.
If I had known this I would never have booked.
- Read (7/5): -
- Debbie (8/5): - Staff very friendly and helpful, delicious breakfast, plentyful complementary tray included water, fridge in room.
- Susan Foulkes (8/5): Comfortable room attentitive staff excellent breakfast - Excellent breakfast the sausages were yummy.
- Brice (8/5): - Localisation idéale Matelas du lit ancien
- Chapman (10/5): - Great local pub sport on TV pool good beer selection
- Anne-Line (6/5): -
- Matt (8/5): -
- Yi Lin (9/5): Lovely gem of a place - There are a huge range of facilities. Love the fact that there is a fridge and also air conditioning when it's now turning summer. Can't find any fault with the number of amenities in the room. Breakfast is tasty. It's not a bnb that champions local products, make their own jam and yogurt etc like some other places but what they offer is really tasty and will fill you up for the day. Staff especially Lorraine is lovely and very friendly. Housekeeping might be a little bit more frequent, instead of doing it when told even if it's just emptying the bins, changing the used mugs and hoovering. It is a historic inn and if you are staying on the ground floor, you will hear everyone upstairs walking and showering (yes, the floorboards are that thin!!)
- Ryan (10/5): - Staff friendly, breakfast excellent
- Nicholas (9/5): Nice - It wasn’t super luxurious but more like home from home. The generous hosts provided a lot in the room including comfy armchairs and a fridge.
- Bob (8/5): Good value comfortable B&B - Good supply of tea/coffee etc, very comfortable bed, good air con. Good breakfast selection. NA
- Paul (9/5): - The room was large and the location was near the city. Room was lovely and clean. Great value too as was breakfast included. Nothing I didn't like.
- David (9/5): -
- Glen (8/5): -
- Romeo Gabriel (10/5): - Location really nice and quiet. Lovely stuff and breakfast amazing cooked to perfection
- B (7/5): Prima voor 1 nacht maar er mag wel een frisse wind door deze tent . - Redelijke prijs. Aardig personeel
Ontbijt was prima
. Inrichting van de bar /ruimte erg gedateerd/rommelig. Overal kabels van verlichting en ontzettend veel camera’s. Echt overal hangen camera’s hier in dit pand 🧐
- Jane (10/5): Welcoming, clean and friendly - Welcoming and friendly, great local community Warm and the beds were really comfortable, breakfast was amazing value for money and the staff members on were so accommodating
- Glen (8/5): A cheap overnight stay with a full English included 😁 - Plenty of parking
- Catherine (7/5): -
- Gemma (10/5): -

- Richard (8/5): A pleasant stay in a quiet part of an interesting city. - Quiet room, well away from the bar area, in a quiet part of Norwich. Good choice of food at breakfast, with friendly service. A double bed would have been preferable (my fault, I booked in a hurry).
- Andrea (8/5): -
- Philip (10/5): - Good, quiet and central location. Lorraine was wonderful. Friendly staff.
- Duncan (10/5): - All of it Nothing
- Guest (9/5): -
- Michael (6/5): - Really nice staff. Breakfast excellent. Great for parking. Decor a little tired. Beds not the most comfy.
- Glen (9/5): Clean, tidy and affordable 😊 - Plenty of parking , easy to find, good value for money Nothing, for what I paid for my room including breakfast it was spot on !
- Patrick (7/5): -
- Vanessa (10/5): - The genuine warmth and hospitality of the staff knocks this place out of the ball park!
I travelled solo for a funeral. The staff could not have done enough. I may have been one of their more demanding visitors but any tiny thing extra I needed they provided with a smile.
Yes the rooms are basic in terms of decor/furniture. It is a little tired and nothing matches. It is not a destination hotel but it doesn't pretend to be. My room was equipped with everything you need. The bed was very comfortable, the shower pressure was super and it was quiet and peaceful, I slept very well. I was impressed by the Tassimo in the room -I hate instant coffee!!
Breakfast was delicious, .I had one of the smaller options but I could easily have been greedy and filled my belly for the day.
They represent excellent value for money. I have paid a lot more for a lot less.
As for any female solo travellers out there, they will take far better care of you than a well known brand in the news lately...
I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
Thank you to Lorraine and Matthew!
- Daphne (9/5): Very pleasant stay. - Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Pleasant room. Walking distance of city centre and sights. Nothing that can be changed. Didn't like hill up to property.
- Sandie (6/5): - Location for our visit to Norwich and free car parking. Although we appreciate this is a pub the music of the two private parties vibrated the room.on both evenings until midnight so could not get any sleep until music had stopped.
- Ian (7/5): The location is very good, the only thing is the hill up to the location if not driving. - The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Noisy room.
- Sarah (8/5): - Lovely friendly staff
- judy (9/5): Great value stay - Good size rooms, friendly staff, great breakfast, excellent value Squeaky floors
- Andrew (8/5): - Friendly staff. Clean and comfortable room and a fantastic breakfast. Good location, only £7 into the city centre by cab.
Would book again. Nothing to dislike.
- Richard (10/5): Excellent stopover pub with bedrooms - Very friendly staff , great breakfast and well located All good
- Kristy (8/5): -
- Kennedy (6/5): -
- Claire (10/5): -
- Julian (8/5): -
- Samantha (6/5): It’s okay…… - The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was pleasant and the beds were comfortable It’s a very local pub where I witnessed two separate incidents of people vaping within the bar. It could do with a tidy especially in the garden area and in general the pub is a little tired looking
- Daniel (8/5): Exactly as described and what I needed, clean and well maintained with helpful staff. - Exalent Lots of movement and sound of taps running water in the room above in the morning waking me earlier than I would have liked.
- Andrzej (9/5): - Bardzo dobry stosunek ceny do jakości. Wyśmienite śniadanie. Uczynna obsługa.
- Fay (7/5): Clean quiet and comfortable - Staff friendly and helpful, room was clean quiet and comfortable. Nice full English breakfast. Nothing really. It did what it said on the tin. Comfortable bed and breakfast in a traditional locals pub. Fine for a night or two.
- Suki (10/5): Amazing - Business trip Good location, friendly staff and comfortable room
- Richard (10/5): Excellent in every respect! - Everything about the property was just right for me, it’s location near the football ground and town centre, the value for money and the amazing breakfast and the cleanliness of the rooms and friendliness of the staff. There was nothing to dislike about the William IV, it’s my No 1 go to accommodation whenever I visit Norwich.
- Debra (8/5): Super comfortable beds; amazing cooked breakfast. - The beds were really comfortable and the room was large with all we needed for a weekend stay. The location was quiet and we were not disturbed by the pub goers. The cooked breakfast menu was excellent with a good range of choices. My husband was impressed by finding fried bread on the menu which he loves. The only improvement that could be made is the menu for those (like me) who can't eat a cooked breakfast. The porridge was made in pot with hot water and was not nice; the toast was pre spread with too much of something I didn't like. An equally good range of breakfast item which are not cooked would warrant an all round good/excellent.
This was not the fault of the William IV- other travellers came in late and made a lot of noise. How can you make others more considerate? It is the risk of staying anywhere away.
- craig (8/5): -
- Kajsa (8/5): Bra boende, nära city center. - Det var rent och fräscht. Lång uppförsbacke till boendet.
- Giorgio (9/5): Good accommodation for a business trip - Quite good position for my business needs. City centre can be easily reached by walking. The room was spacious, very clean and tidy. Staff was kind, helpful and friendly. Rich breakfast in the morning. Private parking available in front.
- Ran112 (10/5): - My room was above a nice country pub , unfortunately I got too late to join the locals there - they were about to close at 12. The room was clean. And breakfast 11 out of ten. Plenty of space for parking. The mattress was too soft. I don't think it is good for the back. Must be changed
- Graham (10/5): -
- Ian (9/5): - Friendly staff good breakfast Nothing really
- Andy (8/5): enjoyable, friendly staff, - great breakfast and parking
- Levick (8/5): - Friendly staff and punters.
Great place to stay for work overnight stay and watch live sport.
No food but they provide cutlery and encourage you to use local takeaways or Justeat that you can eat in the bar.
Cooked breakfast to order in the morning!
- David (9/5): -
- Aled (10/5): - Great find - lovely clean room
Fantastic breakfast !!!
- Maryna (10/5): -
- Angela (7/5): -
- goldsworthy (9/5): Brilliant - What a great little place staff and owner absolutely loverly we would like to thank you all from someone who knows this business x A little old but?
- Paul (9/5): Would stay again for future visits to Norwich. - Location very convenient for walking into Norwich city centre.
Breakfast ideal, excellent choice and dietary needs catered for.
Parking onsite with easy access.
All staff friendly and helpful.
- Sandra (10/5): Overall a very good stay and I was happy with my choice of hotel - Very quiet and even though it was over a pub you wouldn’t have known. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Wasn’t keen on breakfast. Had full English with no eggs as I can’t eat them. However bacon was fatty and tough. Mushrooms were dry & undercooked and I didn’t like the sausages. I think the knife may have been blunt as I could hardly cut through anything. The second day I overslept so missed breakfast
- Trevor (8/5): - Expected quaint and was quaint. Great breakfast. Good parking.
- Peter (10/5): -
- Natalie (9/5): - This is a really great budget option. Very comfortable room with a lovely hot shower, the staff bend over backwards to make you feel welcome and breakfast is excellent with lots of choice.
- Helena (10/5): - The room was very comfortable and warm and clean. The breakfast was good. The staff at the hotel were really friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stay there very much. Thank you for looking after me.
- Mark (8/5): I’d stay here again - Nice people Na
- Synan (7/5): - The breakfast was lovely
Staff friendly, clean and tidy
Ample parking Disappoint there was no evening meal apparently they only do breakfast. After a long journey we had to go into town to eat
- Adam (8/5): - Fantastic breakfast. Lovely staff.
- Jane (7/5): Beware the disco - The room was clean and had some basics. Staff were helpful, breakfast was good The disco below on until midnight, no hairdryer, there were holders for body wash in the shower but it was empty
- Fred (8/5): -
- Linda (7/5): - Friendly and helpful staff. Had a hole in bath towel, needs a new one.
- Giles (10/5): - Very friendly service, clean and comfortable room
- Peter (7/5): - Full English lived up to expectations.
- jqbircham (10/5): - Simple, spotless and comfortable in a perfect location
- Mary (5/5): Really gross so s*** - The breakfast was fantastic plenty of choice and was very nice. But staff was not very friendly We always check the bedding of wherever we stay. The mattress was appalling we have got photos the stains on it with absolutely disgusting the whole of the mattress was stained.. we was going to leave but we'd already had a 3 and a half hour journey.
- Kim (10/5): The breakfast was excellent - Nice and quiet not in city, but not far from train station and other public transport, the breakfast i had was fantastic, this is my accommodation in Norwich full stop
- Kirsty (7/5): - Great location All ok
- Heather (7/5): -
- Doug (9/5): Great as always - Delightful as always, shame no eve meal. The bbq burger was always my go-to Nothing
- Michèle (10/5): Great location and a friendly welcome - Staff were really nice, friendly and welcoming. The room was warm and comfortable. Breakfast was brilliant, the full English was very generous (I couldn't finish mine). Very good value. This is not a fault as I enjoyed my stay. Just pointing out to other would be guests, this is an old traditional pub and the fixings, furniture and general decor is reflective of the buildings age.
- daniel (7/5): -
- Julie (7/5): -
- Caroline (9/5): Great location, incredible breakfast - The location was great the rooms were warm and comfortable and the breakfast was incredible. Freshly cooked to your order and good quality ingredients. Although they don’t provide evening meals they were happy for us to order in food and eat it in the bar. No shampoo in the bathroom and water was left in the kettle and coffee machine from previous guests.
- Lisa (5/5): -
- Jorgen T. (8/5): - Nice room, good service, quiet street, no fuss. Generous breakfast. Bright white bulbs in bedside lamps.
