Guest Reviews
- Ashraf (4/5): Poor condition hotel - The hotel needs lots of maintenance, rooms are old, Air-conditions are not efficient, washrooms are outdated, I had to change my room twice.
- Christopher J (10/5): - Great location. Friendly staff.
- lovemore (2/5): - It wasnt good to be honest.
1. Communication was a challenge. Phone numbers on the website were never picked on 5 December afternoon. This was to make decisions on my 5day visit. Ended up booking for one night just in case.
2. Tried to arrange a shuttle from the place and the request was responded to the next day..not within an hour as seen on hotels.com
3. Upon arrival at the property, having arranged private transport, i had to tell driver to wait, and indeed was told, the booking was not in the system. Fortunately, my phone was on and i had to prove through payment that was done previous day ..6 december. Then produced some mail exchange..was then told, the booking wasnt in the system but in outlook..whatever that means.
4. Went to the room later, had water issues..looks like pump/whatever was just turned on, and there was dirty water.
5. Woke up early as i didnt take a shower earlier on arrival. Same problems..water was dirty, tgen came out with so much pressure from the shower room, very hot tap, almost called reception to come control. No indicator for cold and hot..VERY risky for young ones.
6. Had to decide quickly to leave the place and look for where to stay for the remaining days..
The 5day plan to stay ended up into 4hours stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The staff and service always has you coming back!
Thank you!
- Renee (10/5): - We had a fabulous stay at Mika Lodge, the vibes were all right! Would definitely recommend this hotel to any avid traveler and will surely be coming back next year.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - richtig super, viele locals, tolles personal und besonders gutes essen
- Andrew (8/5): - The hotel is very central with easy access to town and the airport, the service at reception was not up to standard. It took just over an hour to check in!
- P&D (8/5): Good sleep - Beds comfortable, water scalding hot, turn it down a couple of notches before somebody gets scalded. On way to airport. Transfer service offered by hotel to airport was 2x cost negotiated with taxi down street. Breakfast was good. Welcome fruit was a pleasant surprise.
- Mutukwa (6/5): Nice lodge near to shopping centre - Staff very friendly. Food very good .car park small but safe. Swimming pool too open. Rooms cleaned everyday. Staff always ready to help
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice with good breakfast - Nice with good breakfast. Wifi worked ok most of the time.
- Davies (2/5): Lodge close to town - Firstly no room prepared for my guest even though I had paid weeks earlier and no water from the shower, took long to repair so he ended up with no shower . no good communication, there systems pathetic arguing with my guest on payments untill i called them . I strongly don't recommend any one to book. Book at your own disappointment
- Richard (10/5): Half-way between town and airport - We were only staying one night on route from Uganda to Livingstone. We arranged pick-up from the airport, and the driver was there to greet us. We were welcomed at reception. We were quickly shown to our room, which was extremely pleasing and comfortable. We had dinner in the restaurant, which was delicious - I had steak and my Ugandan girlfriend had local food. The portions were huge. We were departing by bus from Lusaka to Livingstone the next morning and it was impressed upon us to LEAVE EARLY (6:00 a.m.) Nevertheless a breakfast to half-eat at table and the other half carry and go was organised. Once again, we had the same driver to take us to the bus station and make sure we got the right bus. Very, very well done, Mike Lodge!!!
- Anne (8/5): - We had a good stay, enjoyed the pool and the atmosphere, the receptionist gave us the great recommendation to visit Munda Wanga
- Terence (6/5): OK. - Hotel ok in good location between airport and city. Room ok but bed not so comfortable.
- Philip (6/5): Airport Convenience - Convenient near airport and nice new Mall. Easy to find off Highway.
- World Traveller (2/5): Not impressed - Front office Staff were grudgy at check-in and made indecent remarks on Expedia especially that I used Reward Points to book for my room.
The air condition in the room wasn't working properly. There is no shower curtain, no foot mat and the towels are the oldest I've seen in over 15 years of travel. Those towels are too old to remain in the room.
The waitresses at the Restaurant are not professional at all. Food was served without asking if I needed water or a drink. Finished eating and had to go looking for a waitress to request a bottle of water.
- Willi (6/5): Good value for money and still relatively new - But a few small niggles: 1. Shower pipe was dancing around when used, and will break soon. 2. Window and mosquito grid could not close in the bathroom. 3. Shower doors also not level and came off their hinges. But in general a good place to stay.
- Lynna (4/5): Breakfast for one? - I booked a double room for friends and was shocked to hear from them that only ONE breakfast was included.
We have stayed in hotels all over the world and have never heard of such a thing.
- J (4/5): Inexpensive but not worth in - We could feel every spring in the mattress, it was not quality. Door to the room did not seal, there were 1" gaps at the top & bottom of it. Broken tile on the floor of the shower. Staff was nice.... We got there before check in & they gave us a temporary room until ours was ready. Food was o.k. at the restaurant.
- Robin (8/5): Good value for money - This hotel is good value for the money. The hotel had more African businessmen than tourists. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Air conditioning worked well. Bathroom appearance could be better (cracked tiles, etc.) but was fully functional. Good water pressure. Full bathtub and shower. We were there during a thunderstorm. Power went out briefly but came back on in 5 - 10 seconds. Found out later that this hotel has its own generator for just such situations.
Wifi was good and could be used in the rooms not just the restaurant area. Food was good. Note that while the description says breakfast is included, it is included only for ONE person. They charged Kw45 (about $7 USD) for the second person. Not sure why they do that. We chose this place because it was one of the cheapest hotels available. We were surprised that it was so nice but charging for the 2nd breakfast was annoying.
The location is not downtown. Walking to the nearest stores (Arcades shopping plaza) would be a HOT half hour walk that we did not try. However this hotel is closer to the airport than many others.
