Livia (8/5): - The island is beautiful, shuffle boat is very convenient and we enjoyed our stay. We have booked rooftop restaurant for dinner - chosen outdoor seating. Once we arrive ( 1st day of our travel , tired, hungry ) we were told that the dinner isn’t served outdoor and indoor is full. Other options were basically none. We ask about the possibility of some tapas ( salami cheese) , server never got back with the answer. We also ordered 2 coctails and 1 mocktail for our daughter. By mistake, staff gave her alcohol drink instead of non alcoholic one. Luckily she realized really soon . After one sip. I would say that with this kind of pricing of a stay and the brand it belongs to, it is unacceptable.
Arturs (5/5): 2 sweaters stolen and not really a 5-star experience but it was okay. - Friendly staff, the private island, good room service. I've been in many 5-star hotels and this is pretty much the worst of them all but it does have the potential to be a good one. We left a baby sweater in the hotel bar, and after eating dinner in the restaurant literally next to it, it was already stolen. The staff confirmed they saw it but didn't take it, so we had to chase the staff multiple times for an update, and we left without it. Not something you expect in a 5-star hotel on a private island, in the main bar. Another thing that was disappointing was the shower - one morning it was quite cold, and in evenings it was boiling hot, and the regulator didn't work properly. The water pressure was bad also. Good that there was also a bath in our room that worked properly. Also, the water from the sink didnt go out well. Again - not a biggie but not something you expect in a 5-star hotel.

The resort facilities are top-notch, especially the rooftop pool which offers breathtaking views. BBAALY (10/5): A James Bond–Style Arrival to a Peaceful Island Retreat - Our stay at JW Marriott Venice began in the most unforgettable way - with a private water taxi transfer arranged by the hotel from Venice Airport. The ride felt straight out of a James Bond movie, gliding across the lagoon and setting the tone for a truly special stay. The hotel handled all transportation seamlessly, making arrival completely stress-free. We stayed in a Junior Suite with terrace for three nights, and the room was impressively spacious, clean, minimalist design with simple décor. The private terrace added a relaxing touch, perfect for unwinding after a day in Venice. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and we enjoyed excellent sleep throughout our stay. Breakfast was a highlight, offering a wide variety of choices. We especially loved sitting outdoors in the garden area, which provided a peaceful and scenic start to each morning. The resort itself is located on a private island, giving it a unique sense of space and tranquility. There’s plenty of room to walk around, explore the landscaped grounds, or even ride bicycles. Despite its secluded feel, the hotel offers a complimentary shuttle boat to and from San Marco, running frequently during the summer. This made it very convenient for shopping and dining in the city while still enjoying a quiet retreat. The facilities are excellent. The adults-only rooftop pool was a standout, with beautiful views and a bar/restaurant where we enjoyed drinks and light bites. The family pool is also well-designed, which was long, spacious, and not overly crowded. Service was consistently strong. The concierge team was particularly helpful, assisting us with restaurant reservations (very useful as we don’t speak Italian) and arranging our private water taxi transfer to Venice Santa Lucia train station on departure. Overall, JW Marriott Venice offers a perfect balance between city access and resort-style relaxation. It’s an ideal choice for those who want to experience Venice while escaping the crowds at the end of the day.

Tom352VD (2/5): A true disgrace! - This hotel has been such a disappointment! The interior spaces, from the lobby bar to the rooms, have almost no local influence and look exactly the same as a Marriott in New Jersey or in Houston at the airport. It's totally anonymous and it feels anything but Italian - old moquettes, old bathrooms, old corridors. And then the gastronomy has been a true disgrace. We spent five days on this island and the lack of food during the evening was a major problem, as there is obviously no alternative in walking distance. The bar in the ground floor served no food, the roof top bar served no food, almost all restaurants were closed (with a full hotel!) and the only outlet which actually was serving food and was open for dinner, on floor 4, was totally overcrowded, very disorganized and had a 2-hour waiting time for dinner. Can you imagine? In a hotel that is located on an isolated island? Over 250+ rooms and the management only plans with a tiny restaurant for all clients. Seriously? While charging us 450 usd a night? I totally understand if I was at an Ibis at 90 euros per night, but definitely not for a hotel with a 5-star pricing. Just a terrible place. Also the rooms are in a very bad state and are all far from granting a 5-star standard - you can only have a shower if you are sitting in the bathtub because there is no upper shower head holder, the AC is very noisy during the night and if you switch off ventilation the rooms become very cold. It's been a really bad experience in a pseudo luxury environment. We all have felt thoroughly unwelcome and nobody has been interested in our satisfaction, nobody felt responsible for providing clients with solutions and there was no manager visible or available. And while the line staff is super friendly and tries always its best, they are all 21 to 25 years old and cannot really change things. Especially as everyone was always under pressure running all over the place. A hotel to avoid and a hotel to escape from. Do not come.
SOGRISONI (2/5): Very desappointing expérience - The property does indeed benefit from an exceptional setting, but this advantage cannot mask deep shortcomings, both in terms of infrastructure and service. The facilities are clearly aging and poorly maintained, and the overall experience is far from the level of quality one would reasonably expect given the advertised positioning and pricing. Our stay was marked by a series of unacceptable issues: alarm clocks not reset after previous guests, faulty automated curtains repeatedly opening on their own despite our reports, and completely ineffective air conditioning. These elements reflect a clear lack of attention to detail in room preparation and technical maintenance. More concerningly, these repeated problems were met with no serious action or appropriate response from the staff. For instance, the only “solution” offered in response to these ongoing disturbances was a few herbal tea bags—an entirely insignificant gesture that perfectly illustrates the gap between the issues experienced and the level of care provided to guests. The Sagra restaurant unfortunately reflects the same insufficient standards: poor service quality, disorganized operations, and an overall condition of the venue that is entirely inconsistent with the claimed level of luxury. Adrian (9/5): Wonderful Hotel - but no need to visit their Spa - The location itself is absolutely unique. The hotel's own island is only a 15min boat ride from San Marco and yet it is its own secluded little paradise. The view towards the city alone is reason enough to want to stay there. The rooms are spacious. As far as the hotel itself is concerned (breakfast, reception, housekeeping, guest experience), The staff was just lovely and helpful. We would love to come back! Despite the overall wonderful experience, two issues come to mind. Somehow, every cheap hostel around the world manages to offer stable WiFi, but Marriott generally (not just in Venice) don't. You constantly need to re-register and re-connect to the network. The other, more significant issues concerns the Spa. Even guests pay EUR 70 for access (3 hours) so my expectations where high. Guests are encouraged to book access online via a QR Code. However, the system didn't work. When I tried to call the Spa, they didn't pick up. The same happened when a receptionist called them on our behalf. Finally, her and us went over to the Spa ourselves to make a booking. Staff there was (mostly) friendly enough but seemed overwhelmed. They told us they were fully booked and we could only enter if we accepted not getting our own lounge chairs inside. The Spa area ended up being practically empty. Also, we had to sign forms and undergo an "introduction" for about 20min before we could finally use the Spa. Lastly, the facilities themselves are underwhelming. The Spa is small and the Sauna is not a Sauna but just a hot room without an oven. The steam room is poorly constructed - you only feel the steam standing up. The view from the pool towards the lagoon is nice though.

Das Schlafsofa war eine Frechheit- zwei Erwachsene konnten auf dem Sofa nicht schlafen. Sehr dünne durchgelegene Matratze, ma rollt immer in die Mitte. Federn und Lattenrost spürt man im Rücken- für das Geld erwartet man sich einen besseren Komfort. Das Frühstück ist auch ausbaufähig- man erwartet sich, dass Pancakes etc im Preis inkludiert ist.

At breakfast, we would have appreciated a wider selection of fruit, especially bananas, as well as more variety in pastries and bread rolls. We also found the butter served from a shared bowl less convenient; individually wrapped portions would feel more hygienic and comfortable for guests.

However, we have stayed in several JW Marriotts and the rooms were disappointing they are dated and worn. Carpet needs to be replaced in rooms and halls, tables and chairs were marked and scrapped, the bed frame was upholstered and ripped in spots. The worst part though was the smell! The hotel has these diffusers all over the hotel and the smell is that of dead roses it’s aweful! It is so powerful you can smell it outside the property before you even go in. I’m asthmatic so it really bothered me. When asked the staff said all JW uses these diffusers which I know not to be true as we have been at several and have never smelled this. Our room was okay because ac was broke so smell didn’t permeate but our other family members room was so bad they asked to move but the new room smelled just as bad. Very disappointing as the property grounds are beautiful and the staff is amazing!

They should read that you enter where the taxi stand is and the dock is on your right. When you arrive at the property there is no one at the shuttle to help with your luggage. You must take them up to the hotel yourself and there are some stairs that need to be negotiated. The reception staff are very nice and helpful. The rooftop restaurant is good and the staff is wonderful especially Frank who was very knowledgeable and friendly. Also the staff at breakfast were amazing. However I feel that this is more a four star property than a five star.

The hotel on its own private island is the most luxurious Resort and Spa. After spending the day in Venice exploring, dining, shopping ,it is wonderful to step on your Water Taxi to head to your own island.Visit the gym, spa or infinity pool overlooking Venice, have a drink, or dinner. The rooms are very spacious and super comfortable and luxurious. The Breakfast Buffet is hands down the best of all our travels, generous and lots of variety. The cappuccino’s are not to be missed. The associates at this property are excellent, especially Lara and her team in the dining room. Oscar, Rumani made the start of our day special. We plan on returning as often as we can.

Fabulous way to arrive! It's a Marriott so if you're after a true Venetian experience, this is not it, at times it feels like a slice of America in Italy, but having said that, it has a nice vibe and it's nice to escape the real hustle and bustle of the mainland. We were in a junior suite which was roomy, airy and super light with a balcony but entry level rooms are a decent size too and amenities are good with a coffee machine and kettle. Great little coffee shop near reception for coffees, pastries and sandwiches. Rooftop restaurant is good (seating inside and out). Breakfast is when you realise how big the hotel is; the buffet is often under-stocked, food items run out, hot items are luke-warm. Overall a little bit lazy and not a five star experience. Great staff, great grounds, two pools.
ithim (8/5): Wonderful Stay from Start to Finish - This was our first trip to Venice, and we chose this resort for its peaceful setting on a private island, away from the crowds. Overall, our stay was relaxing. The room was spacious with a balcony, the bathroom was oversized, and the spa experience was excellent—the therapists were skilled and the hospitality was warm. Check-in and check-out were smooth, and the shuttle to San Marco was very convenient. Property is beautiful and our family enjoyed the one day downtime just relaxing by the pool and walking through the property. Breakfast was lavish, and the rooftop bar had a great vibe and amazing cocktails, food options—were very good.

DM10468 (8/5): Good not great stay - Overall, a good experience. We were upgraded to a large space (La Maisonette) that frankly was poorly suited for us. The loft bedspace was at the top of a steep set of slippery stone steps and the stair had a glass side panel that did not have a proper bannister. One was forced to slowly go up and down using the edge if the glass as a bannister. The HVAC in this loft space (living area on the ground floor, steep stair connecting it with the sleeping area) was poorly planned: cold at the bottom, heat of course rising, the top was very warm-hot. Housekeeping was deficient for a property of this caliber, we had a very low quantity and limited types of towels, etc, despite specific requests. The hotel is located on an island away from Venice and one is dependent on a shuttle boat service operated by the hotel that goes between it and San Marco. I was concerned that the boat was going to be our achilles heel since we had various appointments that were set. The boat service was exactly as advertised: reliable. The boat left and arrived exactly as shown in the schedule. We ate at various time on the property. Food was good. Service was from prompt and enthusiastic, to slow, approaching self-service. Generally, we had a good stay. The size of the room was generous and didn't make one feel claustrophobic as venetian hotels often do. We stayed during a period of poor weather, so we had limited access to the outdoor portions of the nicely landscaped island that the hotel is located on.

Fast forward to April 2025 with plans to arrive April 18 Good Friday, spending Easter in Venice when it is especially busy. We were able to book the JW Marriott Venice Resort and with it, discovered our new hotel love. This unique hotel, located on the private Isola Delle Rose, a 15-minute picturesque boat ride from San Marco square. The resort is a private escape from the hustle and bustle of Venice attractions. It’s completely self-efficient with its restaurants, cafes, world renowned Spa and sprawling grounds with gardens and walkways. The rooms are large and modern, service impeccably with friendly professional staff. The best part is it’s quiet in a city that is a tourist hub. You can enjoy all the attractions and then skirt away to your private island for a peaceful rest or quiet day. We will be back and would highly recommend this luxury property to the seasoned traveler.

momborose (8/5): We would stay here again. - I have nothing negative to say about the JW Marriott except our room was in need of an update. The rug was worn and the hallway had seen better days. We were on a pre cruise stay with Viking. This hotel is a gold mine with many Viking ships using this location as one of their pre /post cruise hotels. Thus the lobby was often crowded with travelers. Other than that, the concierge was excellent and the excursions they offered were great. I highly recommend taking advantage of these opportunities. We had a private 2 hour tour at our choice of time. They also offered a special trip to Murano for a reasonable price. It was a highlight of our stay to use their private boat. The shuttle to and from San Marco was very convenient and reliable. I would stay here again as not part of a cruise as we are Bonvoy titanium elite level and our room would be much nicer I’m sure. The grounds were also beautiful.

Sdlenter (6/5): Just ok hotel, 4-star property on an island. - The hotel in November is not as pictured everywhere. It feels cold and not very pleasant. The boat ride is 15 minute walk from St Marks and it’s not in those nice pretty boats they advertise, just regular boat taxi, just smaller. They go every half hour but at 2pm, 3pm, 4pm only one boat per hour. The rooms are fine with big balcony but useless when it’s cold outside, beds are good, toiletries are ok, bathroom and very nice slippers. Breakfast quality was just ok, definitely not a five star. Maybe a four star. Some days the breakfast area was packed with Viking cruise people (they are there a lot). The hotel provides you with complimentary water bottles (glass, unlimited) and umbrellas if it rains. Watch out for bugs and moths in the room. The staff was polite and courteous. Overall I wouldn’t stay there, inconvenient ride. Maybe it’s better in the summer when pool is open but I don’t go to Venice for the pool. St Regis was by far better property. JW Venice is not a five star. It’s a four star. It should be a regular Marriott, not JW.

templeesmith (10/5): Best Customer Service. Trust me, I am a concierge for a luxury hotel. - Lovely resort with great food. It was raining so we didn't explore many of the offered amenities. However, the SERVICE is what made our stay! I am the lead concierge for a 5-star resort in Deer Valley Utah, and I cannot say enough nice things about the staff. Marco, who checked us in, was so friendly and helpful. We saw him a couple of times in the short period we were there and he made sure to check on our stay and experience. Lara and Emit from the breakfast were incredible. Lara went out of her way to get me the gluten free figs that I liked so much the first day, I couldn't believe she remembered me. She also checked with the chef and got back to me about the delicious filling they had. And Emit was so attentive and friendly. My husband hugged him both days after breakfast. We love nice hotels and good service, but when the service is exceptional, it makes all the difference.

The grounds are very well maintained and the on-sight restaurants were exceptionally good. The lobby area was bright and inviting, but for us that's where our positive experience of the property ended. The seating throughout the lobby is dated, and if lacks that clean modern feel that can be found at other JW Marriott hotels. Prior to this becoming a hotel resort, it was a hospital that treated patients with pulmonary diseases. The hallways on all floors were dark grey and gloomy, very institutional feel. Not the bright vibrancy that you find at other Marriott hotels. We stayed in a one bedroom that felt more like an old Soviet style government building, very utilitarian feel. There were no towel hooks to be found anywhere in the bathroom, and no dresser draws for our belongings. Given that we have Bonvoy Platinum status, it was never acknowledge by staff at check in. We thought we would at least get free bottled waters, but that never happened. The staff would benefit from on-going customer service training. The room was dimly lit, no accent pieces to give the place a welcoming feel. No gift shop on the premises where guest could purchase essentials, (soap, toothpaste, aspirin). They do however, have a store, or shop where guest can buy art and other items that appeared to be more for display than anything any guest would purchase on a whim. The 2 day stay was a disappointment. I'm not sure JW Marriott executives would agree that this property reflects the standard of luxury that is found at any of their other properties. The JW Marriott brand is much better than what this property has to offer. Would not recommend.

The island was beautifully kept in all aspects, as you would expect from a high-end Marriott. It felt like a special place. The grounds were lovely, the restaurants, food, and refreshments were top notch. The outdoor pool was very relaxing with great views. Our room was superb, a ground floor with an outdoor private garden. We will never forget our visit and the boat trip from the hotel to the main venice hub was a memorable experience. On the last day we booked a private taxi as we had 3 suit cases and it was a great personal experience that will live with us forever. We can not wait to go back to this special hotel. 10/10! The Staff - everyone was friendly, polite and extremely courteous. 2. We stayed in a bi-level suite with a plunge pool/jacuzzi in the Retreat section. The Retreat is indeed very tranquil and was a good choice for us. Our thanks to the reception staff there. They are excellent and helpful with any of your requests. 3. The Fitness Center is phenomenal. 4. The Spa is also fantastic. Worth the money for a massage and then a few included hours in the great facility, 5. The big surprise was the Sagra rooftop restaurant. Whether you go to just enjoy cocktails and the view or the surprisingly good food, this is a must. Our special thanks to LeLe, sommelier and server extraordinaire. 6. The private water taxi is perfect. A pretty quick and enjoyable trip to Piazza San Marco. Always punctual. Once you are trapped in the small alleyways of Venice with other visitors looking tired and lost and towing luggage, you'll appreciate returning to the island. 7. Excellent Concierge in the main building. Among other offerings, let them arrange your private water taxi to the airport. 160 euros - right on time and a nice last trip to view all of the islands. You dock right at the airport. Easy 10 minute walk to the terminal, with the usual choice of walking on the sidewalk or using the moving sidewalks. 8. The breakfast was all you might want. Plenty of seating (overseen by a hostess) and plenty of diverse culinary offerings. They are mindful of all dietary restrictions. 9. The grounds are huge. Plenty of attractive space to walk, jog or bike. Of course there is - you're on an island.... Cons: 1. Yes, we found it to be expensive. All of the shops are pricey. 2. If your splurge on the bi-level suite in the Retreat, be aware that light and sound spill over big-time to the upstairs bedroom, But, it is spacious with a great coffee maker and lots of water bottles, etc. Mini-frig. Showers are amazing, deep stand-alone tub, 1 ½ bathrooms. Good blackout curtains. Very quiet and very private. A short walk to the main building and docks. 3. No truly inexpensive restaurant. There is a fairly reasonable pizzeria which others liked. I thought it was just okay.

The boat ride back and forth was easy but keep in mind it leaves on time very time. The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is my experience with the spa. It was a great massage but it was not a 5 star experience. We checked the weather for the week and scheduled for a day we knew it would rain and we would be staying at the hotel for the day. First issue was you only get 1 hr to use the spa facility and they say it is complimentary…. How is it complimentary with what we were charged? My biggest issue was there are only 7 or 8 lounge chairs at the pool inside. Keep in mind we booked that day because of the rain. We were told we could not use them because they were rented! People can pay to use the spa for an a specific amount of time while not paying what I paid for a massage. There was no place for us to put our towels or robes. There were 2 chairs they called sofas they said we could use. I spent over $600 for massages and could not relax by the pool because some one rented a chair for $70?? I had to put my belongings piled on a chair? They need to reevaluate who’s the priority, the customer that is spending over $600 or the customer that spent $70. I would not recommend the spa as much as I liked the hotel itself.
131BE (10/5): Marriott Delivers an Authentic Venice Experience. - Lucky to catch an off season stay in Venice. This really is a World Class Destination hotel. On its own island with a spectacular entrance. The staff was exceptional and the boats going back and forth for Venice proper to the hotel were easy and convenient. The roof top pool and bar affords some excellent panoramic views of Venice. The food on the roof top was as good as anyplace in Venice with the finest pasta and sauces.

The grounds are lush and beautifully maintained, and there are plenty of activities to enjoy during your stay. One of the highlights was the adult rooftop pool, which offers a stunning panoramic view of Venice—a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Our suite was incredible, featuring heated floors and a spacious balcony where we could relax and enjoy the lovely weather. However, I feel it’s important to mention the challenges we faced upon arrival. We had planned to use the hotel’s complimentary shuttle from San Marco and, months in advance, I reached out to the concierge to ensure we had all the necessary directions to get from the train station to the hotel. Unfortunately, on the day of our arrival, the ACTV public boats were not running to San Marco due to a festival. We were told the closest available stop was Rialto, from which we walked about 15 minutes with our luggage, only to discover the San Marco shuttle stop was closed. I contacted the concierge again and was informed that the Marriott shuttle would be departing from Zattere—a completely different area. This meant another 15-minute walk back to Rialto, and at that point, we decided to take a water taxi instead. Given that the hotel was aware of this major festival and its impact on transportation, it would have been extremely helpful—and expected—for them to proactively inform guests arriving that day about the changes in the shuttle pickup location. This would have spared us a lot of stress and inconvenience. When we finally arrived at the hotel, visibly tired and frustrated, the employee who checked us in kindly offered us a drink in the bar. Given the situation and how it was presented, we were under the impression that this was a complimentary gesture. However, when we checked out, we found that we had been charged for the drinks. We had to explain the situation to the staff at checkout to have the charges removed, which felt like an unnecessary hassle after everything else. Overall, this is a truly beautiful property and a wonderful place to stay once you're there. But I do hope the management considers improving communication with guests—especially during special events in Venice that affect transportation—and ensures that gestures of hospitality are clearly communicated to avoid misunderstandings.

The decor is fine if not a bit sterile and boring. I really can’t shake the feeling of the history of the location — it’s a bit unnerving. Look it up. And the location is also on an island which makes going anywhere a challenge that requires extra time padding and planning. When you arrive via boat, they have a giant banner stretched over a section of water and if you peek around the banner you can see floating murk and random garbage collected under there. I would prefer to be staying in Venice proper or maybe Lido. I hoped all of the boat transfers would be no big deal but it’s a pain. The staff have been nice and the food has been decent enough.
ANTONIETTA (8/5): - Beautiful property, could use renovation as rooms are a bit outdated. Dining options are limited and could be better, food is just ok, hit or miss and you’re limited to 2 restaurants
