Guest Reviews
- LEE (6/5): Does a job, but bare minimum - No WiFi and no response to my message when I asked for support relating to it.
- Stewart (8/5): Watersports over night stay - Nice clean rooms thankyou!
- Caroline (6/5): - Mixed. Very convenient place to stay but almost impossible to get hold of anyone by phone or text if you have a question after booking or need to inform them of late arrival due to traffic problems. The few staff actually on site were however lovely people and couldn't be more helpful but just weren't given resources to deal with issues such as a broken kettle, faulty vending machine or request for an iron later in the evening (last two witnessed not experienced personally). Twin room very small (photo rather misleading) and tight to get around but shower good and bed comfortable. Tip to others would be to arrive early in case of issues as that is the only time you'll get to speak directly to someone.
- Clare (8/5): Another nice stay - I stayed sue to work and it was fine for a few nights stay. Comfy bed tea and coffee facilities. Free parking! Very safe and you can use the gym
- Alaa (10/5): - Staff is amazing and really trying their best to help
- Stuart (6/5): - Very basic accommodation but clean and tidy.
- Ying Hoi (6/5): - Dislike
- Peter (10/5): Reasonable priced places to stay - Functional clean and ideal for somewhere to rest my head
- Deon (6/5): - No onsite dining
- Stephen (8/5): Average - Swrved its purpose
- Peter (4/5): - The mattress was worn out and very uncomfortable. The bin in the bathroom had not been emptied and was full of what looked like used sanitary towels
- Cameron (2/5): - No toilet bit for toilet to flush
- Stewart (8/5): good stay - a very basic accommodation, the rooms are adequate and shower is hot. the area is safe and you have the lake to walk around. Bring snacks and drinks as difficult to get on site.
my only real complaint is the walls in the single rooms are very thin.
- Peter (8/5): - Comfortable , quiet and clean. Difficult to get to without a car. Very good for the price. Still disappointed that you stopped doing breakfast
- Damiano (10/5): - Great cheap place to stay
- Donovan (8/5): - The river viewd
- Bryan (8/5): - Didn't see much of it but the check in area was nice and clean .
- Darren (10/5): Not bad - Was great, lack of drinkable water in the room was a pain but not the end of the world. Bottle water was provided
- Matthew (10/5): Perfect place to stay in Nottingham - had everything I needed for a quick nights stay, really enjoyed it, the kettle made great hot water and I had two excellent cups of tea. perfect, used the GYM as well then had a great walk in the morning.
- Liudmila (10/5): Perfectly Satisfactory Experience - Clean enough, warm enough, comfortable enough. The room was very small, but with a good shower
- Kim (10/5): - Booked a single room but was given a twin which was more spacious, TV worked this time, plug socket near mirror so could see when drying hair and a cute dog when checking in.
- Andrew (10/5): - Good place to stay if visiting Nottingham. Quite location, with good road access. Big car park.
Very clean room, with a good shower and water pressure.
- Sally (10/5): - This was perfect for a necessary stop over on the way to somewhere, clean and comfortable, quiet, secure and cheap!
- clare (10/5): Brilliant - lovely helpful staff - Greta place to stay with free use of the gym!
- Edmund (10/5): 4 nights for work - Excellent stay 4 nights for work. 24hr reception which was really good when i finished one night at 4am. Value for money was amazing. Staff always very helpful and friendly
- Andy (8/5): Fantastic for a budget traveller - Basic but clean accommodation, great for the price.
- James (6/5): Cheap but badly needs uplift ? - It’s cheap , you can hear people talking in rooms adjacent, lots of loud builders coming & going , random fire alarms sounding off very loud with no warning, so you don’t know wether to stay in your room or run for your life ,I asked to change room as as very noisy & lots of black mould on window frames & shower cubicle , wifi very barely working ?
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location - Warm room with secure access. Free parking & use of the gym. Great location for outdoor activity and not too far from sport venues & the city
- Wayne (10/5): - I stayed here for work as I was on call so I literally only wanted a bed, a shower and somewhere warm.
Whilst this place isn’t 5 star glamour nor is the price so it fulfilled every aspect that I wanted.
I didn’t use the facilities other than my room but I did end up asking to be let out the main gates on a few occasions due to my call outs. I had sympathy for the night manager who had to come out in the cold to open up and lock up behind me and he was very pleasant about it although I understood how inconvenient it was.
I would certainly stay again
- Kim (6/5): - It was very cold in the room even with the heater on full, TV remote didn't work, nothing was replenished the second day and a loud fan noise was annoying each morning. Staff were friendly however and it has ample parking.
- Brigitte (6/5): - Staff was available, polite and friendly. Clean and comfortable room. Plenty of car parking.
Could have done with a couple more coffee sachets. I stayed for 2 nights and there were only 2 sachets of coffee. I like 2 cups in the morning.
I will definitely book here again especially in summer. No doubt Summer at Holme Pierrpoint would be great walking by the water.
- Kim (6/5): - Hotel is fine for its purpose however there was a really noisy fan noise all night which kept us awake, it was like an internal air conditioning and it never switched off. The duvet was also very thin and didn't provide any warmth
- Andrew (10/5): Peace - Go to place for a quiet trip , great secluded location with walks
- Richard (10/5): Reliable and clean. - Does what it says on the can. Good value, clean and adequate for the odd night’s stay. No concerns.
Very good safe parking
- Richard (10/5): - Great place and staff
- Sally (8/5): - Simple accommodation, all you need for a short stay in a nice setting. Room and venue very clean. Comfy bed.
- Kelly (8/5): - Decent for the cost, and convenient location. Bring ear plugs if a light sleeper but other than that, no complaints. Friendly, helpful staff.
- Halil (10/5): - 👍
- Konrad (8/5): Value for money stay - This place was not easy to get to using public transport as services there are limited especially weekdays. Room was very clean and bed was comfy. Complimentary coffee, tea, hot chocolate provided.
- Adam (10/5): - Easy check in, great staff and not too far away from the city
- David (8/5): Budget, bur fair - Security Door on 2nd Floor closing with a loud bang several times around midnight and early morning - not th efault of guast ( except the talkive ones 0 but maintenace dept need to look at this door. Def spoiled my stay. Otherwise fine for the price - shower was hot, sheets clean.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It is good to stay there especially it includes free gym pass. The only thing they can improve is the single bed mattress, it is awful and you can feel the springs in the mattress.
- Marek (10/5): - Nice location quite for price fair
- Nick (10/5): - good basic and clean accomodation.
mainly for the watersports centre - but only 40 mins walk from West Bridgford. much cheaper than anything more central.
- Muhammad Taha (10/5): - Overall excellent experience.
- Philip (8/5): - Ideal accomodation for a traveller like me.
Good value for money.
Just wish there were more places available like this venue around the country.
- Jade (10/5): - .
- Richard (8/5): - Been staying here on and off for a little while. Staff are fantastic. Rooms are always clean and comfy. Could do with a full redecoration as looking very tired. The walls are a bit paper thin so can hear people talking and using the toilet next door. Also the large communal doors make an extremely loud thud which isnt pleasant when trying to sleep and people dont have much consideration for others allowing them to slam. Overall a perfect place for the price. Also free Gym, not that i use it.
- Michael (4/5): - I was told by reception that the 9.30am check out is for athletes, I have athletes foot so prefer the normal 12.30 check out thanks😂
- Jude (8/5): - Quiet area and nice for walks and peaceful when I was there. Cheap and cheerful can't argue with the price and you can use the gym free!
- Gemma (10/5): - Staff very helpful. Accommodation basic, but very clean. Great value for money.
- Anthony (10/5): - Room was basic but bed was comfortable & tea & coffee were badly needed & appreciated. Thank you
- Andrew (10/5): - Had a good walk around this very large and interesting site. The room was fine for an overnight stay and very good value for money. There was no catering onsite, so I drove out to get an evening mesl. I was expecting this and it wasn't a problem.
- Neil (10/5): - Basic, cheap and convenient. Staff are lovely. Really handy for what I needed.
- Paul (8/5): - Excellent facilties & comfy bed.
- Gregory (6/5): - Value for money
- Daniele (10/5): Natura - Bello in mezzo alla natura
- Sean (8/5): - Excellent vale for money. Clean and friendly staff. Basic rooms.
- TONY (8/5): - Pleasant walk around the rowing lake, and viewing the whitewater kayaking course.
- David (10/5): - Very reasonable in price, excellent for this - especially with gym etc on site
- Lauren (10/5): - Nice little room to stay for the night
- Cumarasamy (6/5): - Poor noise insulation. We were kept awake by noise from neighbouring room. Mattress is sagging.
- Sean (8/5): - Friendly staff and good value for money.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Valve for money - Very good valve for money. Easy location and friendly staff.
If you need a simple and cost effective stay then this is great.
- Richard (8/5): - .
- Paul (10/5): - Good hotel, not too much close by but just plan ahead with meals.
- carl (10/5): Cracking waterside accommodation - Amazing value, nice guys working there, happy to keep topping up your room goodies and even a free gym! It's functional and not a spa hotel, but seriously, at the prices they charge it's insane :)
- Hayden (10/5): - Great Gym. Value for money. Internet speed just needs a boost.
- Sarah (8/5): Basic but ideal for my need! - Needed somewhere to stay whilst visiting daughter at Uni. This was perfect for this - close to the Uni, really comfy bed, clean, didnt break the budget and will def stay again.
- Dan (6/5): Holme pirrepont - Basic accommodation but good value for the price I wouldn’t recommend sharing a room unless you’re swapping spit as it’s very snug let’s say but good value if travelling alone
- Daniel (6/5): - Could do with a good refurbishment
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room was a perfectly adequate single room. Comfortable and clean.
- Gabriele (8/5): - At its price there is nothing better. It feels like being in a college dorm but hey, that brings back good menories.
- Darren (10/5): - Needs bedside lighting
- Alexander (10/5): - Good budget accommodation
- Michael (4/5): Non-potable tap water and unstable hot water :( - It was shocking to discover, in the UK, that the tap water here is not considered drinkable (and to notice the signage only after drinking a cup of tap water...). The staff need to make this known upon check-in. A photo of a full-page info sheet, with a note about the water buried at the bottom, is not sufficient. To make matters worse, they ran out of complimentary bottled water on my last day. Finally, the ratio of hot and cold water pressure in the shower fluctuated greatly, causing the temperature to go between lukewarm to almost scalding multiple times a 5 minute shower session. It was unsafe: a large person who can't move out of the way within the small shower stall might burn their skin if they aren't careful.
- Geoffrey (4/5): - Our room 1023 was easily the smallest we have ever stayed in. We continually got under each others feet. Behind the toilet was disgusting due to a previous leak, and was very brown. OK the price was good, but do yourself a favour and stay at the Claremont instead for £20/30 more.
The staff could not have been more helpful or friendly.
- Jdderbys (2/5): Bed Bug Infestation in the Room - This review is related only to the hotel and not the camp site.
Booked to stay 3 nights (Fri-Sun) in Aug for an event. After the first night bite marks were all over my wife's arms, legs, neck, face, feet and lower back (everywhere not covered by pajamas). They got progressively worse over the day and we had to seek medical attention. Upon returning to the room that evening she stripped the bed to discover visible bugs in the creases of the mattress and brown stains and blood stains all over the mattress.
She showed the night manager who stated she could not sleep there as the room would need to be quarantined, but they had no other rooms available so she had to drive home. Over the next 24 hours, the bites got significantly worse resulting in needing emergency injections and a trip to A&E as they became infected.
The hotel management said all the right things to us, but we found a review from a person on booking who had stayed in the same room a few weeks before and was also badly bitten. The hotel's response to that review was that they had a specialist in who could find no evidence of bugs in the room but had the room treated anyway. They also proceeded to give some incorrect information about bed bugs. Given the horrendous state of the mattress, I seriously doubt any investigation or treatment was completed. And my now wife has over 100 bites as a result that are still clearly visible nearly 3 weeks later.
The room was 2018 for anyone interested, and I'd caution future guests to check as soon as they check in just to be sure the problem has been dealt with this time.
I've opted to not include photos of the bites, or the photos taken of the bed bugs, and mattress. But the hotel has seen them, and any dispute I will upload the proof
- Alan (6/5): - Seems ok for the price but i did notice some marks on the wall and what appeared to be a bit of mould on the walls in the bathroom. They allowed me to arrive late informing the night staff member i would be doing so. I didnt get much sleep though as i woke up a few times having sneezing fits (multiple sneezing episodes ) but unsure as to why so i left at 6am i doubt that I'd stay again
- Phil (2/5): - Snot trail on wall at side of bed. Large spiders in room.
- Christopher (10/5): - Nice staff and clean room
- sianp252 (6/5): August bank holiday camp - We stayed with friends for the August bank holiday weekend, 4 adults and 3 kids. Booking super easy via pitch up and arrival email received 24 hours before arrival so that was nice and easy. Nice big pitches and the option to request to pitch next to friends was good rather than just finding somewhere when you arrive.
We were in the Paddock field which is just across from the toilet/shower blocks and the washing up facilities. Good job really as the site has 1200 pitches but only one lot of toilets. Not ideal for those middle of the night trips! The toilets were ok. I didn't see any cleaners until the last day but they didn't get too grubby throughout the weekend. There was only one lot of hand soap in the women's the whole time we were there, all others empty.
Quite a lot of noise until late at night which was a bit annoying and lots of people having camp fires which the site states is prohibited. No one walking round policing things so bound to happen but noise will be present on any campsite.
Only a 10 minute walk to the water sports centre which was good. Kids had a fab time with the activities we had booked them in for.
Tips - Take a camping loo in case you are on the opposite side of the site. Don't forget your ear plugs.
- Jooleswx678 (6/5): An average campsite - It was a fairly average campsite. Communication is extremely poor, you cannot call the campsite nor do they reply to your emails. We were not sending any confirmation so we just had to wait until the date and turn up. When we arrived there was nobody on reception and couldn't get into the site. When the staff member turned up she told me the internet was not working so she couldn't find my booking.
When we finally got in, the campsite was well layed out and despite the negative reviews regarding the cleanliness of the toilets a showers they were absolutely fine and very clean.
The shop was well stocked but strange that they didn't stock gas canisters, especially when open fires were forbidden.
Remember that if you are planning on staying on the campsite and taking part in extra activities this costs a lot of money. ok if your budget is high but if your looking for a low budget experience this is definitely not the place.
- brettj425 (10/5): Perfect for the Gloworm Festival weekend. - We stayed in the hotel over the weekend (Fri, Sat & Sunday) as we were attending "The Gloworm Festival" with other family members who were glamping.
The room was small, but was perfect for our activity which was get up, get ready, and go out to the festival! We slept like logs as the beds were nice and comfy.
Using the bedroom as a base to be located in and to safely store our belongings was perfect.
The TV in our room was the size of a postage stamp but who cares, we were at the festival.
It fit the bill for our needs so we give it a thumbs up.
On leaving we spent a few minutes chatting to a lovely staff member who brought some festive cheer to my mood (I am sorry I did not catch the gent's name but we will call him "Santa Klaus" for those who know! But what a lovely man to have at the reception desk.
Was it the best hotel I have visited, no. Was it the worst, no. But for our weekend it did all we asked for and for all that was needed. A safe warm place to sleep with safe parking and nice staff.
- 125lyndsayb (4/5): Noisy and dirty - This review is for the campsite only. The location next to the park and activities is great, and the kids play area is nice.
We arrived on a Thursday and the site was quiet, but the toilet blocks were already grotty. On trying to pitch our tent (pitch 3 Brook Field) we found the grass was covering rock, so we destroyed over half our tent pegs and had to double up our guy rope pegs - not ideal on two very windy days! The shop was well-stocked with camping bits so we bought some more pegs from there and just about made do.
On Friday our field filled, so the toilet blocks became pretty disgusting, made worse when the shower pumps stopped working and flooded. One of our kids got locked in a toilet cubicle when the lock broke, and the same happened in the women’s toilets to a woman who ended up locked in for over half an hour.
The worst part of the stay was the noise on the Friday night. Curfew is 10.30 and the info on arrival states that the camp is regularly patrolled to enforce this. We were kept awake by other campers having actual parties until 1.30am.
The staff in the reception/shop were very apologetic the next day, and said the security were supposed to patrol every 30 mins, which clearly does not happen.
We will not stay there again.
- Richard (8/5): Review - Basic, very basic but clean, convenient and cheap.
- nathan (10/5): Excellent - Excellent value for money staff are really friendly , clean and comfy
- Anna (4/5): - The reception staff were really welcoming and the room was clean and the bed comfortable but it was incredibly noisy as I was next to a fire door with people slamming in and out until late at night and starting early in the morning. It was a shame because it was very peaceful between loud slams !
- Catherine (4/5): Bed bugs. - Room 2018. I now have 75 bed bug bites. Called hotel to inform them, and they thanked me, but offered no apology. Will be putting something in writing to them.
Twin room tiny, but functional. Didn't have any issues during our one-night stay, but since bites have come up, all opinion is clouded. Beware, bites take a few days to become obvious. I have never, ever had bed bug bites in my life, and they're horrible. Now we have the concern that they may have got into our bags,/clothes. What a nightmare.
- Stewart (8/5): Budget friendly - Overall the study was very nice. The rooms are very small. The windows only open about an inch. The rooms were hot but the bed was comfortable. The staff were very friendly. The shower was hot and the area was very safe with a great walk around the lake and forest area. Overall a very pleasant day and worth the price you pay
- Richard (10/5): Always good - As always, a good welcome with lots of information. Would have liked a chair in the room and perhaps a fan for the hot weather.
But otherwise the bed was very comfy, good bathroom, good tea and coffee.
- Gabriele (8/5): - It's a very basic accommodation at a very convenient price
- Andy (8/5): - Have been to the NWSC before but haven’t considered it as accommodation before.
Beds were comfortable, shower was good, room was clean.
Bid weird about the non drinkable water but we were given plenty of bottled water.
Lovely walk around the rowing course.
- David (8/5): - A decent place to stay for the budget
- Gabriele (8/5): - It’s very basic but offers a very good sleep
- Mark (8/5): - Basic services very comfortable sleep good price
- Julie (6/5): - The twin room was ok, a little small though. Bathroom was great, beds were ok, could do with new mattresses as they sunk in in the middle. All the bed frame was dangerous, the wood was broken and we kept walking into it and hurting our shins. The event that was on the regatta was fantastic.
- William (6/5): - I was quite disturbed that the fire alarms went off at 2.15am, but there was no staff around to tell people it was a false alarm & it was safe to return to our rooms.
- Graham (10/5): - Needed clean comfortable cheap accommodation. Fitted the bill
- Mark (8/5): - Convenient for NWSC and good value for money
