timr733 (2/5): Do not stay here - Expedia had to relocate us to this hotel at the last minute as they overbooked us. This hotel is by far the worst Ive ever stayed in. Dirty walls, floors, curtains, rooms clearly not cleaned, cobwebs/flies. It is in the red light district and outside was a gang who were opening taking class A drugs and sleeping rough. My colleagues slept with their light on, lay on towels and could not shower as the bathroom was so dirty.

Also, there's no telephone in the room to call The front desk If there is an emergency in your room. The Television does not work in the rooms . No air condition in the rooms... In front. Ernest (2/5): - DONT STAY. UNSAFE. My family arrived to the hotel but couldn’t come near because there were men trying to mug us. It was 10pm and so many people outside doing drugs and drinking. People staying on corners. The city is so dirty and unsafe. Don’t stay!!! We couldn’t call them and let them know we couldn’t walk to the hotel because our children were terrified. They never picked up and emailed us sorry no refund. Very unfair and unprofessional. Safe your money and get a hotel in a better area.
Explorer57629 (4/5): Area is an issue. Hotel needs to review its cleanliness and supply rooms with basic essentials. Hotel very central. - My partner and I stayed here for a week. On arrival out taxi driver asked why we would stay in such an area as it was unsafe. The hotel is in the heart of the red light district, but the issue is the drug addicts outside (although I do understand that is not the fault of the hotel). Hotel staff were pleasant and breakfast had a wide range of choice. The room itself was fine but dull, walls were stained and in need of painting, curtains were also very dirty and stained. Beds were changed once during the week although there was fresh towels most days. Shared bathroom between two rooms, not ideal as one room sleeps five and only one toilet, although two showers. There was toilet roll in the bathroom when we arrived but once used not replaced so we bought our own. I do not think the bathroom was cleaned that week. The room did not have air conditioning, so windows had to be left opened and you could not sleep for the noise going on all night from the drug addicts outside. On arrival I asked for an iron, which I am still waiting on!

The area is the worst in Frankfurt and you will feel unsafe walking in or out of the area. Can't think of a plus for the hotel as it was not even that cheap.

Though it appeared on the map that the location was great, unfortunately every night the homeless and drug addicts hung out right next to the entrance door. I booked for 7 nights and could only stayed for 2 nights because of this. Felt very unsafe. The taxi cab driver said that the location was the worst in the city of Frankfurt.

Nicholas (6/5): - It’s facilities are basic and reflected in the price! Corridors are particularly in need of major renovation. The room ambience was lacking; curtains were thin and looked tired with some gaps in the header hooks on rail: no net curtains; bedroom window could not close fully and handle was damaged; paint chipped/scratched in several places; ceiling light not very bright; bedside lamp cable loose and lamp shades damaged. However bed was comfy and courtyard facing rooms relatively quiet. Breakfast was above expectations with a compact but varied offering of juices, cereals, yoghurts, meats, cheeses, breads, fresh fruit pieces and salad, as well as hot scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, and small meat balls that resemble sausage.
Adrian Edward (4/5): - This is my opinion. I stayed in room 306. Good Points - Price and Location for the Messe (10 mins walk) and train station (5 mins walk). Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean. Bad Points - Despite being clean nothing in my room worked. The television in my room didn't work. The shower over the bath didn't work if the water was on hot as there was no pressure. It took about half an hour for the bath to fill too. So no shower or TV. The road the hotel is in is a 24 hour road. If you're a light sleeper this isn't the place for you. There are also homeless shelters and facilities either side of the hotel with people shouting, screaming, fighting and doing other things 24/7.

Verified traveler (6/5): Okay hotel, not great location - The hotel was okay - it had the basic necessities and was clean. The location was not ideal but that was my own fault for not researching enough before booking! Location: as stated in other reviews, it is very close to the red light district and there were a lot of drug addicts outside when I first arrived (afternoon). On searching I found that the hotel was next to a safe drug consumption facility which is why there were so many around. I had to walk past them a couple of times and they never said anything, it’s just a bit daunting when you’re by yourself. It was a good walkable distance from the centre. Room: the room had a distinct smell of drains which I think was coming from the bathroom - I shut the door and it was less obvious. The beds were okay but quite hard and not the most comfortable. The lighting in the room was also very dim - after sunset the room was very dark. One of the lamps didn’t work and I also had trouble getting the TV to work too. Service: the lady on reception was always very nice and helpful.

Sejal (2/5): Please don't book at this place - If you are a couple or with family plz avoid this hotel. Firstly it is really hard to find the hotel as it has a different name plus the sinage is poor. There are so many people living on the street outside the hotel, some are sleeping just outside the hotel door. All the people were taking drugs out side and it was not safe to even take your language to the hotel. I saw a person getting mugged aroumd 8pm. Room quality is not that good aswell. It doesn't have a fan or air-conditioning, it has the smell of cigarettes everywhere.

Verified traveler (2/5): - The one great thing about this hotel is the location to the train station. It is a short 5min walk. Unfortunately to get there you need to walk through a street infested with drug users (junkies). Once you are in the hotel you will go to your room which has excellent space. However you can expect to find chewing gum on the walls, cobwebs and scuff marks. The wifi is free however does not reach all rooms. When you ask about this at reception (even requesting to change rooms) there is no help, no apology just someone who basically laughs at you and says you can sit in the reception area to use it. One last thing, the shower is mouldy!

There were heroine addicts by the dozens shooting up outside the front door of the hotel, the hotel is situated in a good walking distance but you are walking through the "red lamp" district of town. Troy (4/5): Bad part of town - The hotel was pretty good. Clean, modern and close to the Train Station, plus the staff were nice and had a good grasp of English. However, it is located in the more 'seedy' part of town. I admit I didn't look at reviews for this hotel before we booked but the photos and price were similar to our first hotel a week prior only 2 blocks away. The location of this hotel is right in the middle of the 'Red Light District" of Frankfurt. All the strip clubs and sex houses are right in this area. It is also the area that gets overlooked by the police because there were multiple groups ( 10 to 30 men and women ) gathered at all times of the day and night, buying and using drugs ( smoking and shooting) in broad daylight and view. They didn't seem to bother us but we did have to walk in the street to get past those sections of the sidewalk(s).

The location was on the one hand good, because it was close to the train station, on the other it was bad, because it's next door to a center for drug addicts, who gather on the streets to wait to get some fresh needles from there. There is also a red light district right next to it. The hallways look a bit sterile. The room was nice though. There was no refrigerator and air-condition.

JONATHAN (4/5): Disappointing. - I had a problem that was unavoidable as my friend who was supposed to join me on this trip had a family emergency and neither the hotel nor hotel.com could help at all. This already disappointed me as I had to pay for a twin room and the hotel refused to help. I understand the terms and conditions but they could have helped a little at least to be understanding of my situation. Needless to say, the hotel itself is in a very awkward location surrounded by drug dealers which I was not comfortable with at all. There was a lot of noise from outside due to the activities directly outside the hotel. The room, although clean, had no air-con, the water in a bottle provided was €4 and was warm. Overall, I did not really enjoy my stay there.

The first staff member we met was very kind to tell us the story about this city program and that the place is very safe and every fifth of the addicts is a policeman undercover. The hotel cleanliness was very so-so. Stained towel, a bole of someone's hair with the dust in the corner in the shower, sticky drops on the room floor. The hotel carpets are very old and needed cleaning a long time ago. It was not the cheapest hotel in the area of a train station but and I'm glad I didn't pick a cheaper one.

It was a very run-down area which did not feel safe at 3 o’clock in the afternoon, let alone late at night (especially for two young women, as we were catcalled at least three times on one street alone). Traci (2/5): Worst hotel ever - The hotel should not be on hotels.com list. There were homeless and drug addicts on the steps of the hotel 24/7. It was frightening to go in or out of the hotel. It ruined my entire stay in Frankfurt.

I asked for a fan and was told 'that everyone had already claimed them, and every room doesn't come with one, and he had one left and it was for the front desk'. I was sure I paid for breakfast in my reservation and was told I had to pay for breakfast, that it was not included, for 9,90. I didn't come down for breakfast. For safety and security reasons, I do NOT NOT NOT recommend staying at this hotel. This hotel is located next to a Heroin House on the Niddastrasse, and after a German friend sent me an article about it, now it makes sense what I saw. When I turned the corner, there were junkies all over the street, also on the other side of the street passed out, and there were 2 police standing there. When I came out around 8p, there were still a lot of them on the street. In the morning when I left around 8am, I only saw 1 guy, who was passed out in a doorway. I will definitely NOT be staying at this hotel again.

Chen (6/5): Decent hotel in a strange location. - A pretty decent hotel for its price. Unfortunately, it is located next to a drug shelter and lots of weird people near the entrance and a strong strange smell in the hotel. Also the TV doesn't work.
112 (6/5): - Be aware that the property is located next to a “legal injection room” - as such, directly outside the hotel and the surrounding area is populated with drug addicts. Wouldn’t recommend this spot if you are with a family as it is surrounded by strip clubs and brothels. The room itself was large in size and good value however due to the crowds of drunken people outside there is a lot of noise. The staff on entry were very helpful and upbeat. On checking out of the hotel the staff were not so helpful. Overall it was quite a mixed experience and luckily it was only for one night. I would recommend it as a cheap stay in central Frankfurt however for a longer stay I would suggest somewhere else.

Verified traveler (4/5): A Decent Property In An Unfortunate Area - Based on it's close proximity to the Frankfurt train station and amenities on Kaiserstrasse, and the rooms themselves, this hotel could be a decent choice. However, immediately north of Kaiserstrasse, it becomes some sort of red light district and, as of October 2018, unfortunately there are a lot of homeless people loitering on the streets and it felt rather unsafe. If there was a way the hotel could contact local authorities to prevent loitering in front of the property it could be a suitable choice.

The Hotel is incredibly ugly and smelly and not very clean.Just disgusting. Towards the street you have the unpleasant neighborhood (very noisy in the night, a lot of police!), towards the garden you hear the ventilation howling! You cannot open the window. I choose not to have breakfast there, but went to another better hotel for breakfast.

Verified traveler (2/5): Horrible surroundings....drug addicts..... - First of all I thankful to stephen and other staff those who were extreme friendly and helpful with information and queries about local area. But unfortunately atmosphere surroundings hotel made me so depressed :((( I left my hotel 1 day before... I choose this hotel due to main train station but I was unaware that this area is full of drug addicted and vulgar people on street...this hotel or this people should not be there.....since room did not had ac or fan i left my window open due to ventilation I could hear these drug addicts 24hrs.... all the time screaming shouting.... fighting...police sirens...I couldn't sleep at all .....I had earplugs but still, I could hear them... I am so sorry those who working there surroundings...even hotel employees...:((( it is a totally unsafe area I ever have seen in my life.... due to hotel surroundings ...I would not come back again here :(( I am so sorry to say....

Susan (4/5): Hotel City Stay review - Area is awful...right around corner from red light district and right next door to needle swap facility. It was noisy,smelt of cigarettes and people were shooting up out front of hotel. I’m gluten free and the breakfast choices were woefully inadequate..it can’t be hard to keep GFbread in freezer for people who need it. Would like to mention Steven Schuster..he was wonderful! Extremely polite,helpful,very obliging... a real asset to the hotel. Well done Steven keep up your good work and thanks for taking such good care of us!
MariaTheresa (2/5): Won't stay there again. - Felt very unsafe n super expensive cuz it was close to rail station.The street behind hotel looked like a Red Zone but the street parallel was a business street. Next door were several homeless n drunks. Wish there was help for them.
victoria (8/5): A weekend in Frankfurt. - The hotel location was just perfect, ie 15 min from the main train station and 5 min from the centre city, but the street itself was a bit scary and felt unsafe. The staff was very politely and extremely helpful. We’ve stayed in double room on the second floor with windows facing to the court yard. I would say almost zero noise, so you can get definitely get a decent sleep. The room and bathroom were super clean! I would recommend this hotel for a short stay and to anyone who wants to be 5 min away from the main attractions. Thank you/Danke Victoria

L. (2/5): - Terrible location with addicts outside because of a nearby rehab centre. Room was spacious but dusty and the bathroom lights didn't work, neither did the TV. The room door only shut if you slammed it. Hotel staff not bothered to be friendly and barely says a word. Checked out early the next day and stayed somewhere else for the rest of my trip.

Steven (10/5): Good hotel - Hotel is nice! Couldn't fault it what so ever to be honest. Staff were very friendly apart from one person was very grumpy and not very pleasant at all. The outside of the street is a completely different story. Junkies injecting themselves all over the street and smoking. They never interacted or anything or stopped you as you walked by. Then again they are out there face on drugs!
Verified traveler (6/5): - Hotel itself is fine and actually very quiet, but the afternoon and evening street scene on the sidewalk in front of the hotel is creepy. Lots of homeless people doing drugs and garbage on the sidewalk. By morning the sidewalk is void of people and clean.

Karen (2/5): DO NOT EVER BOOK THIS HOTEL I - This hotel is in the worst area you can imagine. Upon arrival at the street we witnessed 2 police cars with flashing lights and side walks streaming with drug addicts injecting drugs. There was vomit , garbage and the very strong smell of days of urine. We had to walk through this to get into the hotel and if I had been on my own I would have been terrified to leave. My memories of Frankfurt will always be tarnished by the memories of this terrible hotel and I have no wish to ever return to Frankfurt. Our money should have been refunded.
Hugo (2/5): Would NOT recommend - They charged me twice!!! - I stayed at this hotel for a convention nearby. As many other reviews state, this hotel is located NEXT to a homeless shelter which provides clean needles. This shelter gets very loud at night and violent. That being said, it is not the hotel's fault. The reason why I am strongly asking follow Expedia members not to stay at this hotel is for the fact that they made me paid upon checking out despite the fact that I already paid them via Expedia. I informed them of that but they would not allow me to leave. I therefore paid twice for my stay. I reached out to the hotel afterwards and Expedia and they declined to help me. I eventually refused the credit card charge on my American Express and they were kind enough to work with me on it. Bottom line: Avoid this hotel!!

Thayne (4/5): Hotels.com Favorite--are you kidding. - This was my first bad experience picking a hotel with Hotels.com. I had to add a Frankfurt stop to my itinerary and little was available, but this hotel came up in the favorite category--I am not sure why. The hotel sits next to a homeless shelter so be prepared if you arrive prior to the opening of the shelter. There is no restaurant so my walk to dinner was a study in choosing the safe side of the street since it included series of strip clubs. The only benefit is that other favorite of the list was in the middle of the mess. I was in a non-smoking room, but I found ashes in the bathroom. Pass on this unless hotel unless it is your LAST resort.
Chris (2/5): Budget hotel in an awful area - Its next to a "spielhalle" and seems to attract all the streetwalkers, drunks and homeless people. There were are least 50 of them when arrived at circa 20.30 within 30 metres of the hotel and I had to push my way through a group of 5 people just to get into the hotel entrance
Lex (8/5): Great Hotel But the Location Has Addicts & Drunks - Very near the Main Train station and small grocery stores. Walking distance maybe 20 minutes to the shopping area and city center. The room - the bed was comfortable. The staff are very accommodating especially Stephen who directed us to the great places in Frankfurt. The surroundings though are full of drug addicts and drunks and there are many sex shops in the area. The addicts and drunk people did not bother us though but you wont feel comfortable when you always pass by them on your way to and out of the hotel.
Verified traveler (10/5): Decent size room - Novum Hotel is very close to Frankfurt main Station and 15 minutes walking to city center. There are homeless people hanging outside in the area of the hotel but they are harmless and this is all over in Bahnhoff area. The room was decorated nicely, the bathroom has a big bath tub and staff was very friendly.
