- PittTravel5 (6/5): Good but no Montage-level experience - This was a very nice property but some real challenges that kept it from being what we would expect from Montage. Our room was booked as poolside guest house, and the room was nice. But it was a 10 minute walk from the main building, or a 10 minute wait for a golf cart shuttle. Given that the guest house pool has no services at all - no food service, no pool bar staff, and not a single employee at the guest house, that was a challenge. In addition, we had golf booked at Anson Point, a beautiful new golf course. Unfortunately, when we called for a shuttle to that course that is 5 miles from the hotel but still part of Palmetto Bluffs, we were informed that the Montage does not provide shuttle rides to Anson. And the bill didn't include the deduction of the Amex credit. All in all, it was good but certainly wasn't anywhere near the caliber of the Montage experience we would expect.

The setting is incredibly picturesque, with a peaceful and calming energy that makes it feel like a true escape. The grounds, architecture, and overall design create a charming and memorable experience that stands out. Dining at River House was a highlight, with exceptional service and delicious food, and breakfast at Octagon was consistently excellent. The sense of community throughout the property, along with all the thoughtful details, makes it a very special place that we would gladly return to and recommend to others. We stayed at the Myrtle #7 which was lovely but next trip will want a cottage overlooking the river. Definitely a weekend getaway trip if you need to disconnect!

- MelissaK463 (6/5): Lovely Property, Inconsistent Service for the Price - I stayed at Montage Palmetto Bluff from April 19–22, 2026, on a solo trip with my dog. In many ways, the stay was restorative. The property is beautiful and peaceful, never feeling crowded, and I appreciated the ability to truly decompress. I stayed in one of the smaller rooms in the Inn, yet it was still spacious and comfortable. I was also pleasantly surprised by the food quality, which exceeded expectations given what I had heard beforehand. Unfortunately, the service was inconsistent enough that it materially impacted the experience and, ultimately, the value. While there were several genuinely kind staff members—including a wonderful golf cart driver and a concierge who thoughtfully asked about planned activities with my dog—follow-through was frequently lacking. On my first full day, I requested a golf cart ride to Wilson Village and was told it would arrive shortly; after waiting 15 minutes, I had to find someone else because the request had not been passed along. Similarly, I was assured that a gate pass would be called in for my photographer, but the gate had no record of it. Restaurant service also varied widely, alternating between very slow and uncomfortably rushed. There was also one notably poor interaction with a valet. I had texted ahead for my car, which was ready when I arrived. When I asked if the keys were in the vehicle, I was met with a condescending response and told—quite sharply—that he was helping someone else. While I understand that everyone can have an off day and I could have waited longer, the tone and manner were not appropriate for a resort at this price point. The value issue was further compounded by confusion around the Montage Moments package I purchased ($225/night daily resort credit). Prior to arrival, I emailed the resort to clarify what the credit covered and was told many things were covered and directed me to call customer service for specifics. Unfortunately, I did not have time to do so. When I received my final bill, I discovered that the credit did not apply to items I expected it to cover, including parking and the pet fee. As a result, I was only able to use $70 of the $225 credit on the day I arrived. Overall, while the setting is undeniably beautiful and there were a number of moments of genuine warmth, the repeated service breakdowns and lack of clarity around paid packages made the stay feel misaligned with the brand’s luxury positioning and pricing. I’m sharing this feedback because the property has tremendous potential, and I hope it’s received in the spirit intended. With more consistent follow-through and clearer communication—especially around packages and guest logistics—the experience could better reflect both the beauty of the resort and the expectations set by the Montage name.

Pool area was nice, and we liked that there was an adult pool. Very pricey - and a little dull. Lots of unavoidable additional costs - eg a mandatory daily "valet parking" fee of $30 just for them to move the car from the front of the main building out to the carpark directly behind. They also removed our bikes from outside our room before the check out time - a bit strange!

- horns1114 (10/5): Wonderful stay - We just enjoyed an incredible week long visit to Montage PB. We stayed in a 4 bedroom residence with our adult sons and their young kids. Nancy, a fantastic Experience Planner, helped me with meal and activity reservations daily and was so responsive to my questions about what to do for a wide range of ages and interests. She made our trip easy and memorable. Emily, the hostess at Octagon, was wonderful as were servers Regine and Brenda. Wayan, server at the family pool, was amazing- helping our large family every day with chairs and towels. Laken, in accounting, was really wonderful in handling invoice questions and replying quickly to my emails. We had an amazing stay.

The marsh scenery and river views are breathtaking, and the overall atmosphere is both luxurious and relaxing. Be prepared—if you’re not a fan of alligators, they are definitely part of the experience! We stayed in one of the property homes, which was beautiful and well-appointed. The bunk room was a bit tight, but we were able to make it work. Overall, the value was largely worth the cost, though it’s important to be prepared for a higher price point across the board. Dining was somewhat mixed. The Easter brunch was not worth the cost, and Buffalos was just okay. However, RiverHouse was exceptional—perfect for anyone who appreciates great food and wine—and Octagon was also wonderful, especially for fresh seafood and quality preparation. The staff throughout the property went above and beyond, making the experience even more enjoyable. The grounds were beautifully maintained and impeccably manicured, and there was no shortage of amenities or activities. In fact, there was so much to do that we couldn’t fit it all in.

They were unhelpful, when I tried to make a dinner reservation weeks before our arrival I was only offered 5 PM or 8:45 PM. Rooms are so outdated. We ended up ordering dinner from outside the hotel and were quoted over an hour wait time for forks and plates. I offered to walk over and pick them up myself. They told us they had upgraded us when they in fact gave us the exact room that I booked through fine hotels and resorts. Their property cannot handle the capacity of guests when they are fully booked. No one to help with luggage upon arrival. A small, sad looking room. We’ve stayed in multiple Montages and we’ve stayed all over the world and I do not recommend you spend any money at this property.

I think I'm paying around $1800 a night to be here in a room that if Im honest looks like a 10 year old Marriott room. Fine. properties age what about the Service? One of those hotels where no one seems to really know what they are doing. No dining options available on property at all. So you are in the middle of nowhere and no food. Fully booked. Offered a pizza truck. I called 3 weeks in advance. Check in. NICE hard working people that are so overwhelmed I unpacked my own car. ($1800). Families that I guess don't know better - are paying a fortune to be a second rate resort. I think this is a place for people that own houses on the property and frequent regularly with their own kitchen cars etc. are the only happy ones and drive the propaganda that this is a great property. Maybe I can befriend one of the locals with a house and a kitchen to feed us? or bribe them to use their kitchen. You will regret booking here. Apparently there's a new Auberge that's much nicer. OH and if you have kids the awesome kids club is fully booked too. So joke is on you. Go order ubereats and eat in your $1800 dumpy room.
- Lee879 (6/5): Beautiful property with dining concerns - 3 star rating because there are things missing from this experience. Number 1 is food. The food was disappointing and completely overpriced. There are seemingly many options, but when you see the schedules and hours, it becomes clear that food options are very limited. This also leads to long wait times. We were told it would be a 55 minute wait for lunch at the pool. Our only other option was the fancy Octogon, which is not where you take kids at 1pm who are swimming. Plus it charges $7 for a bagel! The quality was also very hit or miss. One day the tacos were a decent portion of fish. The next day, the same dish had half the amount of food. And if you have food allergies, good luck. I'm gluten free. Items at Buzz were mislabeled as gluten free, when they were not. I subsided on protein bars that I brought from home. After a $40 salad with fish that was so salty I thought I might need my mom's blood pressure medication, we decided to start going to Bluffton for meals. Lots of options there! But it is far, and Uber is very limited here. I recommend renting a car. Pros, the property is beautiful. We biked for miles each day down relaxing trails. My son loved the tree houses. We all enjoyed the kayaking, porching, and smores. Plus our suite was modern, large and clean. The facilities are incredible and the staff works hard to please the guests. Overall, we had a nice time, but not sure I would return. The food issues were a headache and it is very isolated.
- kimty (4/5): Underwhelming would be an understatement and would not return - I don’t usually leave reviews like this, but my experience at Montage Palmetto Bluff has been so underwhelming that I felt compelled to share an honest account. We are currently staying here during Spring/Easter break 2026 as a family of four with two young boys. We are no strangers to luxury resorts and regularly return to places we love, including Sea Island (GA), The Breakers (Palm Beach), Banyan Tree Mayakoba, and Kiawah Island. Based on its reputation and price point, we expected Montage Palmetto Bluff to offer a comparable five-star experience — unfortunately, that has not been the case. At $1,500 per night, we expected a much higher level of service, organization, and competence. While the staff are polite and clearly trying their best, the overall experience lacks the polish, attentiveness, and seamless service that define true five-star resorts. One example from just today: after a long drive, our boys were excited to hit some golf balls. I asked the concierge where we could take them to practice. We were directed to the May River course, only to arrive and find it completely closed. No heads-up, no alternative suggested. We then called the Cross River course, and to our disbelief, they would not allow our children to use the practice area or putting green unless they had a tee time. This was Tuesday 4 pm (not the busiest time for golf), and they are simply kids eager to enjoy their vacation. The lack of flexibility — especially for junior guests — was shocking and incredibly disappointing. For a resort of this caliber and cost, we expected far more thoughtfulness, communication, and guest-centered service. Sadly, this stay has fallen well short of expectations, and this is not a place we would consider returning to.
- Sabennetts (8/5): Beautiful Place!! - Beautiful place, bike trails are the best!! We stayed in Lagoon view guest house which was perfect. Very clean luxury room with balcony. 4 stars - check in experience not great, concierge experience not great, adult pool area no service, overflowing trash for 3 days straight, hot tub extremely dirty and water level dangerously low so not filtering at all. Had trouble several days getting our room cleaned in a timely manner and getting ice as you have to call for it. Decaf only left but when calling for coffee next day after an hour we had to walk to the Inn to get coffee. Seems like small things but at $1000+ nightly this is all unacceptable. Ate at Octagon, River House and Buffalo, all were absolutely the best food!! Please, please correct these things as we really want to come back to your beautiful grounds.

We arrived earlier than expected due to storms on our travel day, and the staff was incredibly accommodating—our home was ready right away, which made a stormy afternoon much easier! The home we rented was absolutely fabulous—spacious, beautifully designed, and felt like a true getaway. It had everything we needed and more. The food across the property was excellent, and one of our favorite activities was biking around and taking in the scenery. There’s so much to do, and it’s all so well maintained. Most importantly, our kids loved every minute of it. They stayed busy the entire time with all the activities available, which made the trip even more relaxing for us. Overall, another amazing stay. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

Wonderful information and assistance provided by Bill and great breakfast service from Regine! Overall we’ve been fortunate to stay at a number of “luxury” resorts and this one disappointed in terms of price for overall experience. Quiet, pretty property but isolated with limited dining options. Navigating the “Palmetto Bluff” property versus the “Montage” was tricky in terms of where we could walk, bike, etc. our guest room was nice-clean and spacious but the heat/cool did not function properly and windows were not clean outside. I had high expectations which the staff, valet and restaurant folks exceeded, but otherwise we were underwhelmed.

Pre-arrival we were offered a discounted room upgrade to a lagoon view cottage which was fantastic. The property is so scenic both day an d night. Weather did not cooperate but fully expect bike rides and walking trails would be great. The shooting club experience was first-rate with a guide to lead me through the course. The River House dinner is not to be missed if you can secure a reservation. Also, going into town for a meal at The Farm is essential. Overall, highly recommend this resort and will look to come back in the future.

The rooms are beautifully appointed and the cottages feel like home away from home. I could move right in to stay. The staff are friendly and go above and beyond to serve. There are even cars available to use for 4 hour periods of time to explore the area. Old town Bluffton is fun to explore and Hilton Head is not too far for an afternoon drive.

The service is highly variable and doesn’t meet what one would expect from a resort of its caliber. The service is slow and uneven. Activities (even on-site) aren’t run by the Montage allowing staff to disclaim responsibility for poor experiences. Folios and bills on room were repeatedly wrong and it is hard to find staff to address those issues. Despite the lovely surroundings, I would not return.

- timrobin (10/5): A beautifully run Lowcountry retreat that exceeded our expectations - Traveling as a couple with a small dog (chihuahua) in mid-December, we spent three nights in a lagoon cottage at Montage Palmetto Bluff and had a terrific experience that truly exceeded our expectations. We have stayed in these cottages previously, back when the property was managed by Auberge. Given that the cottages are approaching 20 years old, we expected some wear and tear. That was not the case at all. The cottages look much as we remember them from nearly two decades ago – beautifully maintained, refreshed, and thoughtfully updated while preserving the classic Lowcountry style. The furnishings and interiors feel timeless rather than dated. Each cottage is equipped with a fireplace, which we thoroughly enjoyed on cool mornings while sipping coffee. We were extremely impressed with the overall hotel experience. The bell staff were exceptional. They truly could not have done more for us. From handling luggage and smoothly managing our rental car with valet service, to shuttling us back and forth between the main hotel building and our cottage, every interaction was warm, friendly, and professional. All transportation was via golf cart, and in the early mornings and evenings the staff zipped up the cart enclosures to keep us warm—small touches that made a big difference. One long time employee, Chabu (Shay-boo), has been working there for at least 15 years and he remembered us from our previous stays during the Auberge era. It was remarkable and he is an exceptional human being that we are blessed to know. This was also my birthday weekend, and my wife had coordinated with the concierge in advance to arrange a few birthday surprises to be delivered to the cottage. Everything was executed perfectly. The concierge even sent over a complimentary bottle of champagne along with a handwritten birthday note, which was a very thoughtful and much-appreciated gesture. Breakfast at Octagon was consistently excellent. The à la carte menu offered many appealing choices, and service was attentive and polished each morning. Mimosas were delivered promptly in generously sized glasses, which we appreciated. We also had dinner at Octagon one evening, including dessert, and the experience was outstanding. Service was attentive, the food was excellent, and the wine service was particularly strong, with a generous and well-curated list. I had a special Halibut dish and requested a center cut portion and I received it and it was piping hot which I loved. My wife had the shrimp and grits and she thoroughly enjoyed it and again, the service was just so on point and gracious. It was a Sunday evening, and a talented solo guitarist provided a wonderful ambiance that made our final night especially memorable. We also stopped by the Octagon bar before dinner one evening, where the bartenders were friendly, welcoming, and engaging. We were traveling with a small Chihuahua, and the staff was wonderfully accommodating to her, which was important to us. The interior of the main hotel building is absolutely stunning – the detail in the trim work, moldings, and furnishings is remarkable and really sets the tone for the entire property. We also visited the boutique and found some charming and unique items. Unfortunately, we didn’t make it to the spa, as we were busy house-hunting during our stay, but it looked beautiful and is on our list for a future visit. The pools were a bit too cool for swimming in December, but they are gorgeous, with lagoon views and a lovely setting. Each evening there was a fire pit burning behind the hotel, and we enjoyed making s’mores before the bell staff escorted us back to our cottage. Housekeeping service was excellent overall. One turndown service was missed, but when we called after returning from dinner, two staff members arrived promptly and took care of it while we walked our dog. The response was immediate and gracious. Although our primary reason for visiting was to look at real estate and we had a very full schedule, we were surprised by how much we were able to enjoy the hotel in between appointments. It truly enhanced our stay and made for a memorable stay. Montage Palmetto Bluff is a special place, beautifully run, and we look forward to returning (although we may soon be residents of PB!).

We had a valuable watch stolen by someone on staff, but it was made way worse by the managers and security people lying over and over and offering nothing in response. Pretty location, but with all the lying and stealing going on, we wouldn’t recommend. We rented a house and a cottage for a week, and the service wasn’t good to begin with…especially for the price. What a shame.

- 729Elle (2/5): Short Sighted - I am always so confused when luxury hotels have inhumane cancellation policies. I was supposed to stay at the Montage. I called 23 hours in advance to ask to cancel due to a family member that had an expected serious emergency. The hotel staff were rude and told me they were unable to manage a refund. They would allow a rebooking within 48 hours. I don't have the time to figure out a new vacation plan during this time. I also had the Auberge booked and they were so kind about the situation! I am a regular guest at 5 star hotels and also manage corporate retreats. Why get so upset about a single night over the loyalty over my long term business.

I was a little worried it wouldn’t be as enjoyable with cold weather, but that wasn’t the case at all. The spa was wonderful - shoutout to my therapist Bell. We generally enjoyed the restaurants we visited (Octagon, Buffalos, River House) and the Outside Palmetto Bluff kayak experience was a great morning workout. Shoutout to the man who shuttled us around in a golf cart on a couple of occasions, Kevin (Daily?). He told us all about the history and really made us feel welcome and at home. Tips: Book restaurant reservations in advance - they get very busy!

This review is only about the Montage and not the community. I would recommend the community to anybody but the experience with the Montage did not meet our expectations. It seems like this facility wants to cater to corporate events and weddings and there is clearly a struggle between the community and the hotel. The harmonious relationship that existed in our previous visits had obviously been strained and fractured. The hotel is nice, the accommodations are cozy but I am paying for more than just a room. This is where the hotel falls short. I found myself asking what am I getting or $1000+/nt? We were not told about limitations on the restaurants in the community and how many restaurants are only available to members or require advance reservations by the concierge (things we learned the hard way). We would have expected that information upon check-in. We had two failed attempts to try to have dinner on property so after these mishaps, we decided that it was best to spend our money in the local town (we stayed for 4 nights). We did eat lunch at Buffalos and sandwiches at RT's market and enjoyed the community but I still found myself asking what do you get for $1000+/night at this resort. Maybe our expectations were tainted by our previous trips but I felt duped by what we received. Why doesn't the hotel tell you about the amenities that you can enjoy? We were told we could pick up free bikes but nothing about the numerous trails that exist. No information about the 20,000 acres and miles of riverfront that make this community special. Although we appreciated the welcome drink, we would have welcomed more information about the property, amenities, restaurants, and what you may want to enjoy during your stay.

Very inauthentic and not what we expected. We expected a historical, authentic, South Carolina experience. The entire compound feels extremely artificial, almost like Disney World. Rooms are basic, food is mediocre and it felt more like a corporate campus made to look like traditional South Carolina. Strange mix of residential and hotel, along with weddings mixed into corporate conferences. I wouldn’t visit again - a strange place and far from a luxurious resort.

Also mosquitos/bugs in the room — and this was the fancy/spendy rooms. I could go on and on about how awful the hotel was but easier to say, just stay “off campus” - the town is adorable and palmetto bluff is crowded (with people and alligators!) Just make other plans or do an airbnb, but avoid this hotel.
- garyhV8233TR (10/5): Luxury vacation that is very kid friendly - Our family spent a week at the resort (4 adults and 3 kids ; 2 , 4, 6 years old). It was a very enjoyable week. The accomodations were very nice and spacious (stayed at a residence). There was so much to do there for the adults and the kids, we really didnt have to travel anywhere else to have a good time. The kids loved the activities and the ability to ride their bikes around the resort and the spaces to play games with each other. Food choices were very good with several options. We spent all the travel around the resort either walking, biking, or golf carting. The kids loved that. The concierge was very helpful (Carmela) and clued us in on things to do. The scenery is beautiful and very relaxing to be in nature. It is not a inexpensive resort but if you would like to be pampered and have some great choices of experiences and to be waited on, it is worth the cost.

We weren’t able to secure a single reservation for any activities or restaurants. Every group booking was either entered incorrectly, poorly communicated, or executed without attention to detail. The property itself is fine — about what you’d expect from a basic Marriott — but if you’re going to operate under the Montage brand and charge Montage pricing, you need to deliver a Montage-level experience. Unfortunately, this fell far short.

- SavoyTeddy (2/5): Lacking attention to detail - We booked 2 rooms (and were given adjacent rooms 5204 and 5203) for 4 nights 31 July to 4 Aug. On arrival late at night the temperature in 5204 was freezing and the thermostat had been set to its coldest setting with the fan raging (a 1cm pull down chain meant standing on a chair to switch it off). In contrast, 5203 was boiling hot due to no AC having been left on. I was greeted by nearly slipping over in the bathroom of 5204 due to a puddle of condensation at the entrance and then noticed a large puddle of water in front of the toilet as well. The door to 5204 took significant force to open and my family could not open it without me so we used the door at 5203 throughout the stay. Both of these issues were continually complained about but never resolved - no apologies either. In both of these rooms, the TV was immovably positioned flat on an adjacent wall to the king bed so be prepared to crook your neck if you like watching TV in bed. Beautiful peaceful setting but was bizarre to have a DJ blasting out pop songs at the pool side on our first day and only day when the weather was sunny. Quite a few restaurants at the resort but all with very similar menu choices which is pointless if you are trying to enjoy a long stay. Lastly, don't expect the hotel to extend you any credit, they ensured they debited everything upfront and any extra spend debited as soon as practically possible. Odd behaviour for a luxury hotel which will usually just place a hold on your card which means here you cannot switch payment card at the end of your stay. Despite low occupancy, we were only offered an extra 30 minutes late check out although if you book (cannot switch later) with AMEX I heard would automatically entitle you to 4pm although this was never mentioned to us at the time of booking which was done directly over the phone. To conclude - lots of improvements required to meet international standard luxury quality. Attention to detail does not match the rating or the cost.

From the moment we stepped on property Anthony greeted us with his big smile and was sure to make us feel special. Sepp at the front desk was extraordinarily helpful and attentive at check in. And Richard - Richard is the absolute best. He made sure we got squared away for our tennis match on Saturday morning by taking us to get our tennis shoes from our valeted car and he even took us to our court. Vladimir and Jordan at Riverhouse and Buffalos gave us the best food recommendations. We are already coming back in January. We cannot recommend this place enough.

- anthonyeM5779FY (2/5): Better options across the US for Luxury - We would not stay at the Montage Palmetto Bluff. We’ve stayed at many resorts at this luxury price point and you can get better service and similar landscapes at alternative resorts. The big misses were the broken a/c, golf cart, the lack of internet and working tv, and inability to make a correct folio. The medium issues are they only have one pool with service and that pool frankly sucks (it’s warmer than bath water) and the bar closes at 4. The other pool is amazing but there is no service there. Also if you get a golf cart you can’t charge it at your room, and the places you can charge are inconvenient or, if you can find parking (a big if) the plugs only half work. For 150/day it should be better. The minor issues were it took four tries to get two working key cards, they overcharged for food and then were rude when we pointed it out, and the markets all shut down early. The simple fact is for what is basically a 10k week there are better options across the country that we have stayed at with excellent service and none of these issues.

- NorthStar56513751117 (10/5): Multigenerational family trip to Palmetto Bluff. - If you are looking for a multigenerational family trip, Palmetto Bluff is paradise! We were a party of 14. Grandchildren ranged from the ages of 7 to 17. We were there for 4 nights. Additionally, we had three sets of parents as well as grandparents. Grace, the experience advisor, helped plan a dolphin cruise, horseback riding, golf, a guided kayak trip, and the best of all the Sportsman’s Experience, including axe throwing, archery, and shooting. Also,she booked all dinners. Once on the property, Carmela and Phantaisha helped to add a dinner with bowling. They changed our dinner reservations around to make this happen. We rented a house for the children and grandchildren and a cottage for the grandparents. We rented three golf carts, one for each family. The house came with bikes. A Publix was conveniently located to stock the house. The service and hospitality were excellent.

- worldtraveler952015 (8/5): Not quite up to Montage brand - The cottage we rented was nice and new, but we had to valet each time we went to the main hotel lobby for dining or the fitness room. They should have self park for guests staying there already because it makes going to the lobby very uncomfortable for guests. The place has permanent residences as well, so it is awkward being there because some people own their property. They should have a purely only rental area for homes, and cottages. They have nice trails but the mixing of residents and renters is uncomfortable for renters sometimes. The dining is good but the selection is limited. They should have room service delivery for villas. The fitness room is sort of small and outdated. The entire place needs to step it up several notches to keep up with the Montage brand.

The charm of the Spanish-moss covered trees, the architecture of the main building, the gas powered lamps brought me the feeling like I was in a story. The hotel staff was very attentive. One housekeeper even called out to me to give me an umbrella for my walk because it was starting to drizzle. I loved the hand soap, shampoo and conditioner, too. The bed was very comfortable. Turn down service included two gourmet chocolates in a box on your nightstand. The details were perfect!

Also our kayak guide Worth was exceptional; very knowledgeable and fun. Dino with parking and assistance was super, too. A terrific experience; we will be back!!!! Bikes could be a little better maintained but otherwise zero complaints!
- 105austenm (10/5): Worth it - Came for a wedding, everything was so beautiful. I especially loved the bedroom. It was completely dark with the doors shut, very comfortable bedding. I slept amazingly. The entire staff was great to deal with. The property is amazing.

- nathanpC214LS (10/5): Southern Luxury at its finest - Extraordinarily Comfortable. Near the pinnacle of Luxury. Dining was exquisite, and the staff was exceptionally helpful and professional, truly embodying "Southern Hospitality" without overplaying it. I spent far too long in my room, as I was there on Business, and while the doorbell tone was harsh and the water pressure left something to be desired, the housekeeping staff was very attentive and accommodating.
- 956fabianv (10/5): Montage Palmeto Bluff Is Fantastic - Probably one of the best hotels I have stayed at. The rooms are awesome. The personnel is on top of every little detail. We stayed at the suite at River house. It is amazing. The fitness center was right next to us as it was a pool. I had stayed on a cottage before and it was also a breathtaking experience.
- 484queenb (4/5): Disappointing - We’ve been to this property several times over the last several years and this was by far the most disappointing. To put it quite simply the property was dirty, both inside and outside. We found dirty water bottles with stuff floating inside in our room and the pool area, outside the fire pit, near the pizza truck was littered with trash to the point where raccoons were all over the place. It was not the Montage that we have experienced in years past. The only thing that remained the same with the utmost level of service was the Octagon restaurant, particularly the bar. The people at the front desk, the people managing the pool, they seemed to not care. We had issues with our room, and they had absolutely no concern that they inconvenienced us. This is not a Montage level property in my opinion.

- V2883MZelizabeths (8/5): Not my cup of tea . - This place is beautiful and is only for the rich and famous. The hotel needs a small tweak to make it 5 starts. My compliments to the staff who are very accommodating an very willing to go the extra mile. The overall appearance shows that it needs an update. The rooms are showing wear as are the carpets and floors. There is a lot to do for the family and the costs are minor. Horseback riding and bicycle for riding are available and reasonable. Breakfast and dinner are not at a reasonable cost but I guess if you are paying over 600 hundred dollars a night you expect to pay over $100 for three people . The restaurant also has a very limited breakfast menu. The food for breakfast was just so so . I attended a dinner buffet and it was a delicious. Complaints are that we waited over 60 minutes to get our luggage after we checked in. This made it very difficult to get ready for our party . We checked in at 3 pm and waited for our room to be ready. We waited and waited and finally our luggage arrived at 5 pm. We were to be at party by 6 p.m. Not very easy to get a family of 5 ready for a party in one hour. Apologies were received but this was not 5 star service.
- brandon_ricky (10/5): A Hidden Gem in the South - I stayed at Montage Palmetto Bluff last week, and honestly, I’m still thinking about it. The whole place feels like something out of a dream; peaceful, beautiful, and full of charm. The property itself is vast, with moss-draped oaks, winding paths, and views that make you want to just sit and soak it all in. I stayed in one of the bungalows, and it was perfect. Super comfortable, beautifully designed, and tucked away enough to feel really private. It’s the kind of place where you can truly unplug and just enjoy being surrounded by nature. The staff were amazing, friendly and genuinely passionate about the place. A few of them shared some really interesting stories about the history of the property, which made the experience feel even more special. And the food… wow. Every meal was a treat. Fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. One of the highlights for me was spotting dolphins and local wildlife while exploring the area. It’s those little moments that made the trip feel magical. If you're looking for a place to slow down, breathe, and just enjoy the moment, I can’t recommend this place enough.
- stratiguy (8/5): Fun to visit! - This is a gorgeous property in the low country with amazing space, beautiful views, and a relaxing vibe. We took our family of 11 here in April for part two of a spring break getaway. The first night's were in Charleton -> we then transferred here for more of a resort vibe. It was a perfect 6 night getaway with three nights in each location. Check in was a bit confusing as they ended up flipping the rooms we wanted for two of our family members. We booked five rooms and I had the configurations set for each family member and each room. One of them got switched and when I checked on it the woman at the front desk said it wasn't the case. But when I checked with our travel agent and also checked our reservation I was correct and they did flip them. By then it was too late - everyone settled into their room but unnecessary and shouldn't have happened. (Travel agent said confirming/reserving rooms) was a problem and check in was choppy too. All the bags and everything made it to our rooms. The rooms are spacious with lovely views but are a little tired. Everything was OK but it's just time for the rooms to have some sprucing. Food service was good/lots of options on property. Loved River House for a special occasion anniversary celebration. They put us in the private dining room and the experience and food was amazing. The other restaurants were good too but River House is special. Lots of experiences to enjoy. Concierge super helpful. They have a daily bulletin board with options and while they aren't nexpensive it's worth it to try something and there is plenty to do. Pools also lovely. The property itself is gorgeous with pools, golf, bikes, fire pits, z'mores at night - you can ride or walk or buggy/golf cart everywhere and thousands of acres to explore. The place is peaceful and restful and we had a lovely stay. Just think some of the front desk service can be tuned a bit and the rooms needs some updating sometime soon. Linens, amenities, good nights' sleep all great. Views lovely - lots for kids and families of all ages. Definitely a fun place to visit.
