Guest Reviews
- Stefan (10/5): -
- Anne-Marie (3/5): - Absence totale d’accueil…Aucun contact…
- Robert (8/5): Will likely stay again - Beautiful old home. Owners want to improve the property and hope they can succeed The stay was fine. No complaints
- Pamela (9/5): - The staff was wonderful Nothing to dislike
- Lam Willardson (10/5): Fantastic experiences, highly recommend if you plan to stay in that area. - Very unique and special old house, very clean and staffs and the owner are very nice and helpful. None
- Donald (7/5): A lovely bed and breakfast (although breakfast was not available during our stay). The building and propert could use so - It truly felt like we were stepping back in time to the mid 19th century. Beautifully appointed rooms. Parking was easy. Bathroom: if you offer body wash for the shower, you must supply washcloths!
Disposable cups are an important amenity.
Having a TV with cable is great and appreciated, but there needs to be instruction on how to use the complicated remote.
- Brigett (8/5): Would stay again. - Beautiful place and great location. They didn’t serve breakfast.
- Clayton (10/5): This Place Is History Meets Modern! 5-Stars - This is the best Bed & Breakfast ( without the breakfast ) that we've been to.
- Patricia (3/5): Disappointing as the is false advertising. So much history, but needs major repairs - Beautiful furnishings, carved beds and buffets, art pieces. Chandeliers. Huge verandas with doors from each room. We sat outside protected and enjoyed the shelter from pouring rain
Absolutely gorgeous cathedral : St Joseph. , worth visiting No breakfast. We were notified on arrival. Reason being the kitchen was under construction . No sign of that
No in-home or on the property host. We were alone in the huge mansion with only 1-2 more people which we saw once and did not see again.
We felt safe , but just strange having the mansion all to ourselves.
Simple coffee/ tea station . No treats or chance to visit with a host to learn history of the home and area
Our bathroom sprung a leak the morning after our first night so we canceled our second night.
The elevator did not work so had to drag suitcases up a beautiful but huge staircase
- Charles (10/5): - Beautiful, historic hotel.
- Ryan (10/5): - We had a great stay at the Dansereau house. It's a beautiful piece of property located near a ton of dining options.
- Victoria (7/5): House nice bed comfortable very clean ground running down - The house Run down gardens yards a bed & breakfast price breakfast was not included it was extra
- Dallas (9/5): Very nice historical B&B. - Great historical B&B in downtown Thibodaux. Rooms were cozy and decorated to reflect the history of the house.
- Robin (10/5): Exceptional - I really loved the whole house & the history. When I saw our room I was like a kid in a candy store. Thank you to the staff for being very kind. There was nothing I didn't like everything was great!!!
- Pamela (9/5): Awesome - NA Was nothing not to like!
- Tj (8/5): Very good -
- Crowell (10/5): The house is beautiful and the room was very comfortable. - We wanted to have breakfast but it wasn't available the Sunday morning we were there. We went to Spar's Downtown as suggested in the check in details and it was fabulous. The only thing we didn't like was it wasn't totally clear where to leave our room key when leaving. We left it in the door to the bedroom instead of the house door. I would suggest a key drop or emphasis on which door you would like guests to leave their keys.
- Jeffrey (10/5): Perfect Old Charm - Amazing historic property. It was so beautiful I wish we had stayed longer. Great staff and a wonderful breakfast. I would highly recommend. Room was delightful and comfortable. Grand hoise with an amazing history.
- David (9/5): Incredible antebellum mansion experience! - This place in incredibly underrated! The host conveniently placed an envelope with our keys to the mansion in a pre-arranged place, allowing us to arrive after dinner. There was only another couple staying there. The mansion is huge and you can freely explore it: the paintings, antique furniture, wander the balcony and even peek at the 2 suites on the 2nd floor that were not being used. The bed is big and comfortable, everything was super clean. Epic experience. For some reason the restroom lights suddenly stopped working. Maybe it was the mansion ghost. The night is perhaps a bit too expensive.
- Cindy (10/5): Very comfortable! This would be a great place for a wedding or a big party. - The house is clean and comfortable. Linda was very accommodating, very caring and kind. The outside needed some attention
- Sherry (10/5): - The property is quite unique with history. Linda was so sweet and friendly and she gave us excellent recommendations for entertainment and dining. The restaurant right across the street, Spahr’s had an excellent breakfast with good ole Cajun dishes.
When staying at Dansereau House make sure and take a peak at the beautiful bridal suites and have Linda tell you some ghost stories
- Brad C (8/5): One night in Thibodaux - Note when booking that this is not a full-time staffed B&B. I did not receive check-in instructions from Hotels.com, so make sure you contact the property directly the day before you plan to arrive. Once I was able to contact the inn keeper, I was able to check-in early. The room was great and the veranda is a great spot to hang out and have an afternoon beverage during the typical afternoon thunderstorms. Just blocks to a couple of restaurants, I had lunch at Spahr's and dinner at Fremin's.
- Michael (9/5): Superb - Very nice place. Excellent restaurant right across the street.
- Pamela (9/5): Superb - Great location to Everything Downtown. Quiet and peaceful.
- Randy (8/5): Very good -
- Christopher (3/5): Others have said it. It’s ok but it really does look run down and in need of cleaning and maintenance - Close to restaurants and decent parking Elevator not working when it was advertised it was operational. Balcony dirty and lots of cigarette butts even though it was supposed to be no smoking. Seating on the balcony broken. No one to greet us. Looks really run down.
- Audrey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katherine (10/5): - This is a grand old home in excellent shape. We loved the Rose room and large balcony! Linda was gracious and helpful and made the most delicious biscuits for breakfast! Thank you Linda for making our stay so enjoyable 💖
- Nia (10/5): - Such a serene getaway and the kindest owner i have ever met!
- Christine (10/5): We always feel like a graciously welcome guest. - We are frequent guests anytime we come to Thibodaux because of the prime location, incredibly comfortable accommodations and delightfully welcoming staff. I don’t have a single complaint.
- Sharon (9/5): We enjoyed our stay very much and liked being downtown. - We didn't have breakfast there. I like the old feel of a Historical house. The bed was very comfortable. Plenty of space in the bedroom and closet. Bathroom was spacious and clean. I liked the access to the porch. I liked having a small frig in the bedroom. Room was quiet The house itself could use a little more TLC on the outside. There was too much light coming through the windows at night. Needs better window shades.
- Pfingsten (10/5): Would stay again - Location and ambiance Water pressure
- Catherine (10/5): We loved it! We watched a mardi gras parade from the balcany. - The beautiful historic home, the comfortable bed, the delicious breakfast and Linda, the gracious hostess The water in the shower was not quite hot.
- Bennett (10/5): Excellent! -
- Molly (10/5): Historic Charm in downtown! - Beautiful old home with feel of Southern charm. This is an experien a typical hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely stay - Though it needed some TLC, as all old houses do, it was beautiful! The rooms were very clean. The innkeeper was wonderful.
- Barrios (9/5): Will definitely stay here again - Great location within walking distance to bars and restaurants, but very quiet and peaceful Starting to show some age and need of repairs but overall beautiful and well maintained
- John (7/5): Good - Breakfast wasn’t good
- Arlene (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maurice (7/5): Interesting and unusual stay - To see a big house from people who were at ease at a certain time What was unusual about this room, is the fact that you don't see anybody; you are asked to go to the back door on which you find an envelope on which is written your name, telling you that your room called "Evangeline is on the first floor. You enter, and find a lift with which you and your luggage land on a balcony encircling the whole first floor with 3 doors without indications. The 3rd one was not locked, we landed in the staircase hall of the house and soon found out the "Evangeline" room. After a good night, without any ghost, we left the house without having seen a single human being
- Keshia (9/5): Superb -
- Lavinia (10/5): Lovely historic house in Thibodaux - Dansereau House is a unique place, an old home with a lot of history and interesting architecture. We needed a room last minute in Thibodaux and stumbled upon their last free room without doing much research before booking: it was a great surprise!
The room was clean and comfortable, the location is perfect as it's right in the middle of the historic district. We chose not to have breakfast but we appreciated the free coffee and tea. We enjoyed sitting on the verandah right outside the room!
- Rebecca (10/5): Quick trip with excellent downtown location near government facilities. Bed was very comfortable. Rich history of buildi - Interesting property, quiet, clean, very comfortable bed
- Christine (10/5): At Dansareau House I always feel like a much welcomed guest. - We absolutely love this location. Convenient location with wall ability to excellent restaurants and easy drivable access all of Thibodaux. Spacious and relaxing when onsite. I could not come up with a single complaint - we always thoroughly enjoy our stay.
- Jan (7/5): A very historic place to stay. Enjoyed my stay except for no TV. - My stay was very short. Linda was very helpful & very nice. Everything was good. Didn’t eat but I wish I would have had the time to stay longer to try out breakfast. Couldn’t watch TV. Cable didn’t seem to connect.
- Randall (10/5): Great Stay - House was nice, and quiet the whole stay. Linda the Innkeeper gave us an upgrade on our room and allowed us to check in early. Since I have family in Thibodaux, we will most likely be staying at The Dansereau House for our visits from now on.
- William (8/5): Loved our stay. The house is very charming and interesting. A good choice for a weekend getaway. - We loved the old house and its charm. Bed was especially comfortable and room was quite clean. Pictures on the wall could have been more period appropriate maybe (such as old paintings) instead of a photo of the house.
- William (10/5): My first but not my last visit to Thibodeaux. - The ambiance was great. The location was perfect and the cost was just right.
- Gina (6/5): Pleasant - We ordered breakfast two days we were there the first morning was good and on time. The second day we were unable to have breakfast due to manager was in contact with somebody who tested positive for Covid. it is a great property with tons of potential. Many things could’ve been picked up and put away to make the property more appealing. Christmas trees and decorations sitting on the floor in the ballroom. There were two ladders laying around, garbage on the front
Lawn. There were a lot of tables and chairs outside on the patio, against the building and just scattered around in no particular order. The building has a very musty smell.
- Carmen (7/5): . Linda was great! - Breakfast was tasty. Fresh fruit
Strawberries Raspberries Blueberries
Yogurt Pastry
If you communicate with the cook she will take care of you. My room could have been cooler.
- Darren (8/5): - Historical Home. I grew up in Thibodaux and loved the architecture of this home when I was a kid. It also was close to old friends in the neighborhood and my high school reunion location, The Foundry.
- Sharon (9/5): Superb - I had to leave in the middle of the night. I thought I was alone in the house. But I heard doors slamming and a piano playing. The doorknob to my room that's goes to the veranda was squeaking. There is no piano. But there was one years ago obviously I was not alone. I got spooked and left.
- Jessica (10/5): The house is beautiful, the beds are comfy and Ms. Linda is the absolute best!! - This home is beautiful and rich with history! We stayed in the Evangeline Room and it was cozy and perfect. The bed was incredibly comfortable as well. But the most enjoyable part of our stay by far was Ms. Linda, the innkeeper!! She was WONDERFUL!! She made us feel completely at home and made us the most incredibly delicious breakfast all three mornings that we stayed. She treated us like family and her southern hospitality was truly the icing on the cake of our vacation. We will absolutely be returning to stay here next year and we have already recommended this place to all of our family and friends! I have no bad comments about our stay.
- Haley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adam (8/5): It's decent, but could be better - Cool old mansion Building exterior needing some TLC
- Gary (10/5): - Been here before. Excellent experience. Will return again.
- Betty (8/5): Happy to have had the oppurtunity to stay at the house. - Was no breakfast. Convenient location to event.
Staff member was easy to reach.
Bed was soft for my taste, but otherwise okay. Coffee would be nice on the porch.
- Orida (4/5): - Although the property was saturated with beautiful antiques, I felt uncomfortable with no staff on site and with the fact that our keys for entrance were taped to the outside of a door. The amenities I was expecting were nowhere to be found — no bottled water, no tea, no coffee. The kitchen seemed to be stacked with boxes but there was no one to greet us in person during our stay and no beverages made clearly accessible to us.
I made arrangements for a bed and breakfast well enough in advance and I did not leave with the feeling that this establishment was prepared to receive us.
- Patrick (10/5): - Linda was a most gracious host. Good bed, quiet and peaceful atmosphere, and home fulfilling setting. Thanks and we will be back again.
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (10/5): I loved every minute of it! - I loved everything about this grand old mansion. I can’t wait to come back!!
- Patrick (6/5): - The house is shabby outside. When we got there the door was locked. Keys and check in details were taped to the back door. Rooms, linens, a.c. were good. Location was good. Hostess was very accomodating for early breakfast and departure. Building tour would have been nice. Wont stay again.
- Thomas (6/5): we would book it again - unique
- Thomas (1/5): Horrific - There was no breakfast. Nobody to meet us upon arrival.
Very cold atmosphere.
Nowhere to sit other than bedroom.
In a word 'appalling'.
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Jim (10/5): - What a fantastic historical gem. Fun to imagine all the people and activities that have gone on in those rooms.
- Rebecca (9/5): Superb - It was such a unique experience. I stayed there with a friend for an event we attended in Thibodaux. I’m pretty sure it’s haunted. The ghosts were friendly however. I love the historical art & furnishings. A privilege to stay there.Very comfortable bed. musky smell
- Maria (8/5): - The home is lovely, bed was so comfortable I didn’t want to get up. Just looking around the house at the details and old chandeliers made it worth the trip.
- Shireen (8/5): It was a very quiet and interesting stay. Loved the home and antiques - N/A The porch light was very bright at night through the window above the door. There was food left in the refrigerator in the Rose room.
- Mike (8/5): Very good -
- Walter (10/5): Great place. - I liked the classic 12 foot ceilings, the large rooms, nice clean facilities. This place was built in 1870. It's worth staying here just for the ambiance. I didn't find anything to complaint about. My co-worker said the AC was to loud..It didn't bother me.
- Cynthia (8/5): Elegant antebellum home in town - The location was very convenient since we were going to an event just a couple of blocks away. Linda was very flexible and allowed us to check in a little early. We really appreciated having a little time to rest before going out for the evening.Loved the wrap around porch! Enjoyed learning a little about the history of the home’s original owners. It was perfect for an overnight stay in Thibodaux. We didn’t opt for the breakfast but coffee would have been nice.
- David (8/5): The Dansereau House, Thibodaux - This is not a holiday inn, it is a bed and breakfast, so you have to remember that. Having said that, there were a few things that I would expect to be there that were not, for example we had a coffee machine pushed to the back of a cupboard, but no coffee, or even mugs.
We stayed in the Evangeline room and had a few minor problems. The air conditioning unit which is located high up on the wall could not be switched off, so every now and then switched itself on and off. Mentioned to owner but apparently that is how works and cannot be turned off to get a quiet night.
There is a door leading to the outside balcony which has a glass panel above it, no curtain so in the morning light floods in the room.
There is a good restaurant literally two minutes walk called Spahrs.
Breakfast although basic was very good.
- John (2/5): Would never book here again!! - They canceled my room as I was on my way there in the afternoon. I had to find another hotel at the last minute. Horrible service!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful and clean room. 10/10 recommend!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice place but Expedia had room listed a handicapped accessible- NOT at all! All rooms upstairs. Not ideal but we were able to make it work.
The house was generous to offer free cancellation but we were able to stay but I would not recommend for those liking for handicap accessible rooms.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This place was so disappointing! The exterior was depressing and run down. There was no one to greet us; an envelop with our key was stuck on the outside door. Did not see another soul during our stay. The inside was dingy. The house smelled so musty I woke up gagging at 4:30 am. But what happened to the second B in B & B? This was our 15th day traveling from SC to AZ and this stay was on our return trip east - using COVID as an excuse to not even have a cup of coffee available??? Breakfast was available in EVERY hotel along the way - I think the proprietor was just lazy to have to be there for one or two guests! Was very happy to leave! Should have stayed at the Hampton Inn! The picture posted on the website must have been taken 30 years ago...
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The house is very impressive on the outside and inside. I love old buildings like this with a good story to tell. Walking into the building was even more impressive. The architecture of this place is one of a kind. I love the wrap around balcony, great for sitting outside enjoying the birds singing--even got to see the mamma bird making a nest and feeding her baby on the balcony column. The dissapointing thing about this place is the cleanliness. Mold growing on the ceiling, the curtains probably never got washed since this place was first opened. Dust everywhere on the air conditioner. The room smelled very musty, we only stayed in the room for sleeping. Most of the time we were out in the balcony even though the heat was beating down on us. As much as I admire the house I don't recommend staying because of the cleanliness. This building could use a fresh coat of paint and some serious cleaning up.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - 2nd stay. Beautiful home.
- Kelly (10/5): Wonderful - We really enjoyed our stay here. The room is historically furnished with 13 foot ceiling and 8 foot doors. Very comfortable bed. We enjoyed the veranda and rocking chairs. Kind of off the beaten path but easily accessible. We will stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The place is spotless inside and the neighborhood was quite. What I didn’t like was that since there was no staff or activity going on it seemed wrong to turn on the TV or even move around in fear of disturbing others.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was a unique place in what may have once been a thriving town. Unfortunately, maybe due to COVID, we hardly saw a single person on the streets. We also never had contact with a single other person (staff or guest) during our stay. We did not know until we got there and found a note that
- jerry (8/5): Beautiful and relaxing - Very private and relaxing B & B. Due to "Covid Restrictions", they weren't serving breakfast and we had a no-contact check in. We actually never saw another person while we were there. But I'm not complaining. Its a beautiful property set in a historic part of town. We walked a few feet to Spahr's Seafood for both Dinner and Breakfast. We will be visiting again as soon as they are back to "no restrictions ".
- Pamela l. (6/5): Disappointed - Even though we arrived during check in hours, we were greeted with a note on the door as to check in procedures We never saw an Innkeeper during our stay. No breakfast which was stated in the note would not be available due to COVID, but no accommodation for that either. No coffee/tea available...I realize that we arrived on a Sunday but certainly expected some verbal communication or text
or email...nothing! We were looking forward to staying in this lovely inn and were immensely disappointed.
- Lana (10/5): Great historical B&B - The Dansereau House is a beautiful mansion turned B&B in the heart of Thibodaux. It is within walking distance of great restaurants. The rooms in the house are always clean and comfortable and I love the history associated with it. This is where I stay when I’m in Thibodaux or Houma, LA.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was nice and quaint
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Unique historic experience. On site staff is top notch
- Ruth M (10/5): Quaint and Comfortable - Quaint, authentic old period home in the heart of town. Walking distance to everything. Room was comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I’d love to return when things are more normal after Covid. Lovely B&B but no breakfast during this stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fabulous place to stay, great location. Only draw back was that this is a bed and breakfast and due to Covid they aren’t serving breakfast or dinner. The local restaurants are all pretty darn good places to eat within walking distance. So over all I’ll give this place an A! Will stay there again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was a beautiful old home with the most comfortable bed. The bathroom was luxurious. Even though the temperature outside was at a record low we had a lovely Valentine’s Day warm inside.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I love old houses , this was an exceptional experience for me being the only person at the residence the first night. Lovely room , spacious very clean and well cared for. I wish I could live there. Thanks to the owners for making this historical old home available to others .
- June (10/5): - Beautiful house. Stayed 2 nights. Didn't see anyone while there. Weather was too cold but otherwise a lovely trip.
- David (4/5): Dansereau House Review - The B&B did not inform us prior to arrival that breaksfast was no longer provided and more importantly no soap or shampoo was provided , that needs to be explained up front. The home is in terrible dis repair, the eleveator is out and the grounds look like an abandoned home.
Too bad, at one time was probably very nice. Staff was very unfriendly to top it off
- Terry (10/5): - Beautiful mansion. Well decorated. Best place In Thibodaux to stay!
- Rozilind (10/5): - Parking was fantastic. It was covered. Bed and pillows were so comfortable. In fact I have never slept so good staying away from home. There was hair all over the bathroom floor. That was my only complaint. The toilet, sink and shower seemed cleaned just not mopped/vacuumed.
- Dusty (8/5): Great place - Overall excellent place to stay. Would stay again.
- Trent (10/5): - super friendly staff, respectful of social distancing
- chris (8/5): - Great stay!
