Guest Reviews
- Gregory (8/5): - Staff and hotel, in general, was very good. Great location. However, the most uncomfortable beds we have ever slept on.
- Jorge (8/5): - Centrally located
- Sylvia (6/5): - The location was great, the staff though wasn't very friendly. No way to have the room cleaned ahead of time and no courtesy coffee
- LUIS ROGELIO (10/5): Buen hotel.
- Alejandrina (2/5): - This property does not reflect the rating or pictures shown when I booked my reservation.
- Analaura (6/5): - Way to expensive for what they offer. Pictures of the hotel are deceiving. The place is still under construction with no elevator from the parking area, no carts for the suitcases, the oldest towels in town and the restaurant can't handle more than a few customers.
- Alejandra (2/5): - In the add say that it has parking lot and is not what advertised, we have to parked our car in the street because is only 4 spots in the parking lot. It was no hot water we stay there and since day one we asked for someone to come and fix it, until the next day they show up. And they never fix the hot water issue. The air conditioning system made a lot of noise all night not sure why, we reported all this and nothing was fix. I will not recommend this place.
- Salvador (10/5): - Friendly people
- Ronny (8/5): - Beach is unsafe for swimming
- Valerie (8/5): - Loved the infinity pool and the view of the ocean.
- Ramona (10/5): - The rooms where clean and staff where great. I think they need to put more $ into the pool. Safety first. The front of the pool needs work.
- christine (6/5): - I paid $113.00 a night for your nights and had No hoy or even warm water. Only cold.
- Terry (10/5): - First time in Barra and the hotel did not disappoint. It's located right on the beach. We had a basic room with two double beds. Initially we stayed on the street side, but we were able to upgrade to the ocean side -- highly recommend that if you can get it as it's quieter and you can enjoy the fantastic sunsets from your balcony, and fall asleep listening to the sounds of the waves. On the street side every other morning you are awoken by a Zoomba class on the courtyard right below... They provide bottled water every day. The pool is clean and fairly quiet. The beach below the hotel isn't great for swimming as it's quite sloped and the waves can be large -- not impossible, just not ideal -- the better beach is down in Melaque. You are located right in the heart of some of the best Mexican food and music. A 5 minute walk to the marina, public buses and all the pubs. Great value.
- Karime (10/5): - Excelente service, Property, restaurant especially the Waiter.
- Dagoberto (10/5): - More help need on breakfasts time,!!
- Linda (6/5): - Location Location location The hotel has a beautiful view. The wait staff left a lot to be desired. They never came to see if you needed anything. You always had to flag them down. There is no WiFi in the rooms.
- Susan (8/5): - FABULOUS LOCATION AND VIEW. Good value for money although sound really echoes in the hallways. I'd recommend earplugs.
- Roland (8/5): Lauri - Hotel and room were always clean …they had excellent entertainment..however there was only wifi in the lobby …view is wonderful
- Ryan (10/5): - Good , clean safe area
- Caryl (10/5): - This was the perfect spot to stay and a beautiful pool overlooking the ocean. The staff was great as were the Pina Coladas at the pool!
- Catherine (10/5): Good place to have a Mello time - Room had a strange layout and there weren’t many amenities but the staff was very attentive and the ocean was clean to swim in. The pool was a bit cold. It was a good location to walk around town really enjoyed the town of Barre de Navidad
Definitely will go back
- YURITSI (8/5): - Everything was good and loved the pool
- Elaine (8/5): - Great place to stay - central in the tourist area.
- Don (8/5): - Probably the best hotel in the area. Suite was nice
- Esther (10/5): - Very clean and great staff
- manuel (8/5): - Muy Vien
- Rodrigo (10/5): - The hotel is clean and updated. The staff is nice and the area is beautiful. The hotel has an open feel.
- Jose (10/5): - Good price nice personal clean room
- John (8/5): - Overall it was good!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The rooms are very clean they need to work only on the food service not very good for Mexican food no effort on flavor and presentation
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean and excellent location
- Heather (10/5): - This hotel is under renovation but still a great hotel, is in a great location, right in front of the beach , beds are comfortable , food is good and staff was attentive, rooms are clean and spacious.
- Lupe (8/5): - The food was great, very nice staff.
the bar tender was a little rude, but over all, its a great place to stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - No garden view it was streetside. Ocean and poolside was beautiful.
- Julie (10/5): Great stay! - Amazing location in Barra de Navidad. This hotel has everything one needs in small town mexico: hot water, good shower, comfortable beds, amazing view of the pacific and it's quiet at night. Staff are very pleasant.
- ismael (2/5): Not a pleasant stay - It was horrible. Nothing advertised was shown, not even a telephone in the room. It was cockroach infested and there was no spa as advertised. Safe to say, we didn’t enjoy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property is right on the beach and close to the center of the town.
- Brenna (10/5): Bogavante - Stayed one week in Barra. Very relaxing. The town and people are very warm and welcoming. The area is being rebuilt and looks rough but very tranquil
- Rodney (10/5): Great hotel under construction will stay again - Great city, nice pool and rooms, they are building as they go so it's not perfect but still great. The waves at the beach are very aggressive and pretty. Not swim friendly. Great price and location. Check out the small neighboring city's to swim at thier beaches
- Robert (8/5): - Great location staff is very friendly and attentive. Only problem was no hot water in one of the bathrooms, shower was fixed sink no
- Patti (10/5): - This place is spot on for the value of the cost! The margaritas were the best, the food was great and the coffee was especially good as it is hard to find good coffee in Mexico. Oscar who was bartending and food service was especially helpful with the local knowledge of the area and history. Can't wait to return!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Close to restaurants, shops and taxis. Very quiet and the service was good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - great location - easy walking distance to all restaurants/bars/shops - fabulous access to great beach
Wish the property would allow you to charge drinks/meals that you order by the pool to your room. Bit of a pain to have to pay for each individual order at the bar.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Where to start - no dining room but some tables off the lobby. The actual dining room is a junk and open storage area your first vista on entry. Room cleaned but not the halls. Thread bare towels in room. Not a single piece of paper in the hotel no brochures what to do or adverts in the lobby. It’s hard to see this as a hotel at ll. Unfinished floors of rooms - so your in a partially constructed hotel. It’s simply not professionally managed and it shoes. We paid too much money to stay here. Locals walk through including to your room on the patio selling things and using the pool. One lady from outside was going to rinse her baby and bay poop off in the poolside shower and at the last minute someone asked her not to do that. The whole experience was disappointing. People off the street should not be at the pool and selling stuff inside the hotel.
- Michelle (8/5): Beautiful experience - It was a great place to stay and the staff are eonderful. The beds were too hard and uncomfortable. But in Mexico, that is not unusual. All in all, we loved it!!
- Clare (8/5): - Lovely environment. Really enjoyed the pool area . Bed rather hard and no hot water in our room in the shower or basin.
- elaine (8/5): - Excellent accommodations and location. Pool is amazing.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The view here is spectacular. This hotel is open and airy and close to everything in town. Lovely!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location very nice staff...food waa great. Lots of activities to do.
- Dylan (10/5): Perfect vacation - Miguel at the front desk is amazing and speaks great English. So much help. View is beautiful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good
- Gerardo (6/5): - The staff and owner were very attentive and courteous. Unfortunately the hotel is goung through a major remodel and the noise was not pleasant and the pool lacked attention. Expedia should have properties report when going under remodeling or construction.
- Sharri (8/5): Can't beat the location - We loved our stay at the Bogavante. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the location is awesome. The hotel is still under construction, but that didn't impact our stay at all. We are already planning our next trip to Barra De Navidad and will definitely stay at the Bogavante again.
- Mr d (8/5): Comfy clean hotel on beach- best in town! - This hotel is a work in progress as many of the rooms are not completed (but this doesn’t impact on the place as no work appears to be in progress and they are not being used). The completed rooms are large - mine contained two queen beds plus a desk/sideboard, rack for my suitcase, plus balcony with two chairs. The A/C worked well and the ceiling fan wasn’t needed. The bathroom was well equipped- lots of hot waters and efficient shower. Only drawback was that staircase was open to lower floor and noise occasionally permeated upwards. Lovely terrace behind infinity swimming pool to eat brekky which was reasonably priced and lots of bedchairs with towels available. Bonus was occasional musical entertainment at sunset to the sound of the ocean waves as a backdrop. Enthusiastically recommended
- Andy (10/5): Great hotel right on the beach overlooking the oce - We stayed for 1 week over Christmas. The hotel and pool are beautiful. The owners treated us like family. I cannot say enough about how nice it was. Great sunsets too. We will definitely be back.
- WAYNE (10/5): Great stay! - We had a wonderful stay at the Bogavante. The location and the views are fantastic. Many great restaurants and lots of fun shopping in the immediate area. Hotel is doing some construction/expansion and should be even better when its completed.
- Darryl (8/5): excellent location on beach - This hotel is being built as they go. The ground floor and most of second floor is complete. For building as they go, workers noise level was low and very considerate of guests. For Mexico this is a very nice room for the money. If you don,t like noise then go out for dinner between 6-30 and 9-30 on Thursdays as a band comes in and plays music. Not sure if they do that any other night? It appears it is a family run hotel and everyone is very kind and thoughtful
- PAUL (8/5): Family weekend in Bogovante - Nice relaxing time with family. Recommend the Hotel! Good service and peaceful atmosphere. Pool was a little too cold to swim in.
- Janet (4/5): Not recommended - We booked for five nights. The bed was hard as concrete. We had no hot water the first three mornings for our shower. We told the owner about the hot water problem the first morning we were there. It did not get fixed. The third morning we decided to check out. The hotel refunded one of the two remaining nights. They should have refunded both of the remaining nights since we were leaving because of problems caused by the hotel. I do not recommend this hotel.
- Elizabeth (10/5): All Good! - Amazing stay! Beautiful and clean hotel, some construction on upper floors but it didn’t hamper our stay. Friendly staff. Fantastic pool and quaint area of Mexico.
- Jim (10/5): Relaxing Barra de Navidad - A relaxing stop over on our journey south. The hotel was being renovated or expanded but once inside was mostly quiet. Great sunset, friendly staff
- Agustin (10/5): The best hotel in Barra de Navidad. - It is right on the beach, and close to everything in town. The infinity pool is amazing that you can watch the sunsets right from the pool. The hotel staff were excellent, friendly and very helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Best hotel in Barra - I have looked at all the hotels in Barra and this is by far the best one. Its right on the beach, you sleep with the sound of the waves, the rooms are clean, beds comfy and its great value for beachfront.
And the owner works miracles!
I had brilliantly managed to leave my passport purse with phone in the airport taxi that brought us here. Moment of panic at check-in !!!
The senora started to call the airport etc - then had an idea. She called her uncle as he is a taxi driver there. And lo and behold, it was him who had driven us! He returned later with my passport bag and everything intact. I was SO happy and relieved! And stunned by the coincidence! And it shows there are GOOD and HONEST people i this world!!!
I LOVE Mexico!
- Julia (10/5): Wonderful hotel in Barra - This is the best hotel in Barra town - I looked at most of them
And the lowly lady on reception helped me find my passport which I had left in the airport taxi!
Recommend highly
- Dianna (10/5): Piece of Paradise in Barra - Hotel Bogavante is a wonderful place to stay. The staff are fantastic and the location is second to none. Great for watching the sunsets while sitting around the ocean-front pool. We had a ground floor room that opened up to a little patio area and then right onto the pool deck and stairs to the beach. Highly recommended.
- sandi (10/5): Great place to stay in Barra - We loved this hotel so much we booked again next year. Right next to the ocean with a beautiful pool. Excellent Live entertainment. Food is great. The location is perfect, within walking distance to everything.
- Linda (10/5): Great location, nice hotel - We loved our ground floor room by the infinity pool, overlooking the beach. Great location for wandering around Barra de Navidad.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel in perfect location - The hotel was great with friendly and helpful staff. Their restaurant served great food. The location was wonderful with plenty of restaurants, shops, and plenty to see. We had a great time walking the streets and seeing the sights. Also, there are nearby towns to check out. Just jump on a local bus and go......easy. For the faint of heart there are plenty of taxis. My only complaint was that the mattress and pillows were kinda hard. I highly recommend this place. For the quality, it is very reasonably priced.
- Joel (6/5): Nice spot for get-away! - Still under construction but a really nice spot to get-away!...Staff is very friendly & if you have a problem(I did) They will bend over backwards to find a fix(They did).Infinity Pool is stunning & oceanfront with tremendous views forever!!
- Douglas (8/5): Get away in Barra and Melequey - Our annual trip to Bara hotel was $71 usd nice room facing the bay. Flat screen tv, no refer,no micro, had a table on the patio but no chairs. Went down and requested 2 chairs. 2 hours later they showed up. Across from the Plaza, lots of places to eat close by. Pretty quiet in Barra till about 9pm. Drink prices are real high national drinks were 50 and 60 peso, a liter of vodka is 75 pesos.
- Wendy (10/5): Beautiful hotel on the beach.
- The staff were exceptional, helpful and friendly . The food was good with nice presentations. The hotel in on the malacon so very central to everything. On Thursday nights live music was presented in the restaurant and we were able to view it from our deck. The hotel is across from the central city plaza so plan on loud music when there is a festival . We had a wonderful stay at the Bogavante and will stay there when we return to Barra de Navidad.
- Mary (10/5): Best kept secret in Mexico - The Bogavante is probably one of the best kept secrets in travel. We went with another couple and we all had a great time. The hotel staff were excellent, friendly and very helpful. For the price, we weren't expecting great things, but were pleasantly surprised by how awesome this place was. You can't beat the location, and having the infinity pool that looked at the ocean and sunsets was amazing. We ate several times in the restaurant and the food never disappointed. The rooms and the lobby were very clean, as well as the pool area. I really can't say enough good things about this hotel. The owners are there daily, so if you need anything, they try their best to accommodate. But be reasonable, it still is Mexico.
A few things you may want to know that we learnt during our trip,
1. there are no blow dryers in the rooms, bring your own.
2.There is also no fridges in the regular rooms, but we bought a Styrofoam cooler and ice right across the square, and that solved the problem of warm beer & drinking water.
3.They do supply beach towels so you don't need to bring any.
4.Finally, bring some glasses with you if you want to use them in your room. We brought plastic stemless wine glasses that worked great in the room and by the pool.
We are returning again next year and hopefully they haven't got so popular that we can't get a room. A great place for a great price.
- Belinda (10/5): Quiet and beautiful little beach town - Barra is beautiful. It is quiet and relaxing. This hotel offered one of the most beautiful views of the ocean. It is right on the beach, and close to everything in town. The people in the hotel, as well as the entire town, are kind, friendly, and helpful. The vendors are much less aggressive here than other cities I have visited, and I enjoyed the shopping experience much more. The food in town was outstanding, and it was fun to take the water taxi's to the other locations. I would stay in this hotel again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): great location - beautiful setting. friendly hotel staff. breathtaking views.
- Nyla (8/5): Barra deluxe hotel - I took my adult son for a mini vacation while he visited from California. Have been to other hotels in Barra where poolside bars and restaurant is advertised, but not in operation. This had both and music Thur. night.
Friendly staff also.
- Ched (10/5): Great value and location - We stayed for a week. Located on the beach, across from the plaza, and a short walk to the only ATM in town. Great on site restaurant in a spacious lobby with an expansive view of the sea. The ceviche was the best we had in Barra de Navidad. The staff was friendly and attentive. The bed was very comfortable and the in room air conditioner efficiently kept the room comfortable in the heat of the day. Convenient access to the beach including a shower to wash off sand before entering the lobby. Off street parking under ground.
The hotel is still under construction, however there was no inconvenience due to that.
