Lucas (1/5): - It had nice rooms The first room had the sink plumbing disconnect laying on a towel. The second room had something sticky spilled on the counter and they lied about having a operational pool. I booked this place for my daughter because of the pool. I was not refunded my money either

Hannah (2/5): Bait and switch by either Booking.com or hotel or both. Very disappointing - Paid extra on booking.com for "access to the spa". Arrived at hotel, and spa was closed for maintenance. I had checked out their website before booking, and there was nothing about the spa being closed. The woman at reception claimed that we would have seen that if we booked through their website directly. Then they charged us a $50 late cancellation fee when we decided to go to some place else that actually had a spa.

The Hotel is under construction and has no restaurant or bar availability. The breakfast included was minimal. Only supplied bread, juice, milk, bananas and apples and coffee and tea no hot food all dry pantry food.

The room with breakfast had a leak and they served bread, 2 cereal choices, brown bananas and cooffe/tea only so we door dashed. The spa needs remodeling. Floors were dirty. The pool was closed and then it wasn't due to issues.pool water freezing. Steam room does not work. The restaurant was closed but the bar was open at 4pm. I think this hotel really could be better with some better management. Staff and spa wasn't special
Gen (8/5): The staff was nice and Maureen was exceptionally helpful! - I loved my room large and comfy except I did not like the fat pillows, should have other thin flat ones to choose from. Enjoyed the large heated pool and Horus. I wasn’t happy about the elevator being down and the fire alarm that goes off once a week, they should have told me that it would happen and should have informed I did not have to dress and leave my room.

Room was not fully clean. Bed was uncomfortable . Heat and hot water were very low. Room was drafty. Had to wait 15 min for room to be finished cleaning. Nothing on the property was open. Aside from the bar for a few hours.
Riley (4/5): It fell short of expectations set - Room was clean, bartender was amazing, location was great. The elevator wasn’t working and no one was told. The restaurant was closed and no one was told. Called down to the front desk at 5pm to fix our toilet and even after multiple calls they didn’t come up until 10:30pm to fix it. The tv just kept turning on all night. They also got rid of using real keys and switched to key cards. When we stayed here 4 years ago the key came in a box with snacks. It was a nice touch that they unfortunately did away with. The concierge said that he was the only one here. It’s such a luxury place and he was wearing a graphic tee shirt, felt out of place and when we went to check out he reeked of marijuana. It just wasn’t classy. There was no information in the room about any of the amenities, nothing about the spa or closed restaurant. I can’t help but feel like the hotel changed hands and are having trouble carrying the torch. Maybe it was just because it was “off season” but it was the weekend after Valentine’s Day, which is a big day for hotels and spa’s and restaurants so it was strange. Was unfortunately disappointed and if nothing changes I don’t think we will be back.

Front desk person was new , totally overwhelmed, didn't have our reservation, kids running around the lobby , other guests yelling about their key passes not working etc etc. Would never go back. Woodworth (1/5): Terro - Did not have our reservation. Said the type of room was not available and tried to book us in lower room. After owner? searched property and found a room we had reserved. This was all in a span of 2.5 hours after arriving. They offered to clean the room, but housekeeping had left for the day. We thanked them, booked our stay at another hotel through Expedia and left.
Keith (4/5): I will not be returning to this property. - Very under staffed. The pool is all the way across the property in a different building. Our shower was defective. Definitely not worth the price. The pool is on a completely different building and way smaller than advertised on the website. Our shower leaked profusely all over the floor and the place was so short staffed that we couldn’t find anybody to help us the way we wanted to.
Michael (10/5): This hotel has been Our happy Place since it opened! - My husband and I have gone to this location for our anniversary birthday and Valentine’s Day! We love it here so much the staff is so nice they will do anything you need. The rooms are perfect spacious and luxurious. The bed is SO comfy!! The bathroom makes you feel like royalty and the pool house is incredible it seriously gives you everything you need to enjoy yourself and just relax. The restaurant is very fancy. I think the only thing we would like is if they had more choices for breakfast during the week. It gets the job done but some bacon and eggs would be soo nice!

Deborah (1/5): Extremely disappointing - It was in close proximity to the gymnastics competition my daughter participated in. The room was dirty. It had spiders. The comforter smelled like sweat never washed. The key to my room never worked. I had to continually ask the front desk for new keys every time I exited and returned to my room. The restaurant in house was closed. The complimentary breakfast had very limited selections. The pool allowed kids under 5 years old in the hot tub. Adults couldn’t enjoy the hot tub because of the large number of toddlers bathing.
Kevin (4/5): An older event property starting to show its age with guest who do not know how to stay in a hotel. - Large room was nice. Bed was very comfortable. Not a very professional greeting. Elevator was not working. The fireplace is not impressive. Doesn't add much ambiance. Noisy guests until midnight yelling down the halls, slamming doors. Then at 2:30AM I was woken from my sleep up by a drunk woman yelling between her husband in the hallway and the clerk at the front desk. Had to get up and tell her to be quiet while the clerk was trying to get her into her room.

Roumen (6/5): Used to be great - Has a solid base to be a great weekend getaway like it was years ago. It seems like it's less polular that before perhaps due to winter season, us staying on a Monday night or other reasons, but that impacts the available services and the whole experience.

Christina (3/5): disgusting and honestly a health hazard - the location The first room they put me in, the tv wasn't working. I went to the front desk to let them know and the girl said she would send maintence up to see if he could fix. They weren't able to figure out the problem so they changed me to a different room. The second room I went in, as I was going to use the bathroom there was a huge spider right on the toilet paper roll. Disgusting. The room stunk like straight up mold and like it hadn't been cleaned at all. There were all kinds of stains on the couch and the sheets weren't great either. The bathroom tub/shower had all kinds of mold along the edge of the walls and on/in between the tiling. The ceiling in the bathroom had mold as well! It was just absolutely not what I was expecting my experience to be whatsoever! The advertising for this hotel is absolutely inaccurate and I don't think I will ever return in the future unless they make some serious drastic changes asap.

Christian (2/5): - Rooms were spacious Like a haunted hotel straight out of a horror movie: dark hallways with tasteless décor, plastic flowers, and the like. The spa was a joke — the sauna could only be used if you booked a treatment, something that was not mentioned at the time of booking. The manager was extremely rude and insisted it was written somewhere in the fine print, though I still haven’t found it. On top of that, there are signs in the pool area requiring guests to shower before entering, yet the showers are only available to those who booked a treatment. Breakfast was equally disappointing. Only a few dry pastries were offered, and by 9 a.m. everything was already put away. There weren’t enough tables for all the guests, and the ceiling in the so-called breakfast room literally came down while we were there. There is nothing luxurious about this place at all, and the hotel’s homepage is completely misleading. Overall, this hotel is absolutely not worth the money. There is no service whatsoever. The staff are rude and don’t even look up from their phones to greet you.

Brandon (4/5): - Not quite sure how this has an 8.0 rating here on hotels.com. This place is old dark and the staff is cold on the verge of unfriendly upon arrival. They did not accept American Express, which is how I booked my trip originally the room is filled with mismatched lamps and gross stained built-in couches. There were stains even on the ceiling and the whole place appeared to be cobbled together. Of the three hotels on this trip that we stayed at it was by far the worst also as a note, the pool is located in a separate building from the rooms, which is very inconvenient with children, but given the way the rest of the hotel was, I don’t think we would’ve gone in the pool anyways.

Spa roof and facilities were dirty, lighting not working, steam room and dry sauna broken, no cushions on outdoor furniture, see through roof disgusting, and hotel room filthy.
Martin (6/5): - Chateau Merrimack seems like a once-grand hotel that has fallen on hard times, as if in a war zone. Sometimes things work, and sometimes they don’t. Sometimes the breakfast is laid out, and sometimes it isn’t. Sometimes there are towels, and sometimes the whole place is out of them. The grounds are beautiful, the pool structure is peaceful, and the Chateau is out in the country at the same time it is a peaceful, 10-minute drive to downtown Lowell. It just seemed like it was the first day for the whole staff after tge experienced staff disappeared. Friends said that Chateau Merrimack’s previous incarnation, Stonehedge, was much more expansive with a better restaurant and far fewer cacancies. As it was, we were there in the middle of the summer and, while we enjoyed the quiet of few guests, we also wondered how the staff might accommodate a wedding or convention. Our room was beautiful and the hotel itself was peaceful, but the staff and service were uneven, even slipshod, and we were glad that we weren’t depending on the hotel for internet or food.

Jennie (10/5): Close getaway worth extra small extra cost - Needed some quiet time away. Nice and quiet hotel with great little touches like soaking tubs and super comfortable beds and pillows. Nothing super fancy and clearly a little dated but the environment screams comfort and old money. Clearly in its time this place would be a place only wealthy could afford but now its a place where working people can get some comfort, relaxation, and great environment (spa, pool,walking and outdoor spaces) in close prominity to our regular busy lives. Could be a great work conference place or like me a little get away from normal life.

Landscaping beds are overgrown and brick parking at the lobby is grass filled. The restaurant is closed. No evening food is available at the property. The room looks similar to the pictures but has dust and dirt in corners indicating long time of no use and/or need of deep cleaning. We did not check out the pool as we left the property for food. The “gym” consists of an out of date treadmill and dumbbells. Free WiFi is unsecured and nonfunctional.

Erin (6/5): - Only stayed one night on our way through. I tried calling to ask a question and no one answered the phone. Once we arrived the attendant took a while to come to the desk. The guests in the room above us were loud and obnoxious and making noise all night until about 3am. The decor is dated, bathroom could use a regrout around the tub. Personally would not stay here again.

The room was really nice, spacious and generally very clean, nice bath, but some of the sheets and pillow cases smelled weird and dusty while some smelled normal, we removed those. Especially the decorative bed covers smelled weird. You can't use the sauna unless you are getting spa services, you can only use the pool which is a little weird as a hotel guest I'd expect to use the sauna normally. The pool is nice in the forest, but not really warm. The smaller whirlpool is supposed to be hot but it is lukewarm and as other's stated there is moss on the corners and some bugs in the water. Bugs wasn't that bad I imagine they'd get in there even if it was cleaned regularly since it's inside the woods, but moss makes me think they don't clean regularly as it should take some time to buildup. Overall it was a nice experience with some small shortcomings.
