Guest Reviews
- Peter (9/5): Excellent place to stay. Unique. - Outstanding gem of a place to stay. Amazing kitchen with everything you need plus a lounge area.
- Cheryl (9/5): - This was a return stay, as we had stayed here earlier in our trip and found it excellent accomodation. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Mike, the manager, was friendly, welcoming and able to advise us on places of interest in the town. The Camp kitchen was excellent one of the best we have had during our travels. It was fun to be sleeping underground. There are, inevitably, a lot of steps, it is underground after all. 🙄🤣
- Tanja (9/5): - Zet vriendelijke ontvangst en super leuk om onder de grond te slapen!
- Richard (9/5): Looking forward to returning. - Fantastic location, great host, unique underground room experience.
What else could you ask for in Coober Pedy. Nothing!
- Tonja (10/5): Realunderground experience!!
- Kamal (9/5): - My room was really clean and the hotel staff went out of their way to make my stay enjoyable - including meeting me early so I could check in and giving me a lift for a tour. Mike was really friendly and welcoming when I arrived and during my stay.
- Hölscher (10/5): - Super friendly staff, the kitchen is also very well equipped, and I was able to sleep in the next day and store my things in the storage room.
- Felicity (10/5): Authentic Coober Pedy - We loved the authenticity of our underground cave room and the personalised and friendly hospitality of Mike, the proprietor. The bed was super comfortable and the room peaceful, cool and quiet. And it always smelled beautiful!
The location was excellent, right in the middle of town. The room was so peaceful, quiet and dark that we often slept in until late.🤣 Definitely not a negative.
- Maureen (10/5): Perfect and the upgrade was appreciated -
- Marie (8/5): Comfortable stay - Friendly staff, clean amenities, good kitchen, laundry, good wifi, plenty of parking and external space
- Philippe (7/5): -
- Kainat (10/5): Unique experience - Really unique place, clean and comfortable. Mike at the desk was really helpful in letting us know about the town and what to do for the weekend
- Tom (7/5): A great novelty experience glad to have done it. My room in picture below. - Wanted to experience the famous underground dwellings at Coober Pedy which lived up to the hype Not complaining as i understood the limitations due to being constructed underground. Small rooms, with few things in it. No kettle etc. Eternal kitchen upstairs for all residents. Shared toilets & showers, shared with 'lots' of others.

- Brent (8/5): Pretty good, overall we were satisfied. - Center of Coober Pedy
Parking, good value
Cool (literally) underground room Toilets and bathrooms far from rooms
Wi-Fi patchy
No kettle in the shared kitchen!
Staff sent us to a restaurant that had closed down
- Kim (8/5): I would recommend the Motel to anyone visiting Coober Pedy - It was amazing staying in the underground Motel. The room was actually warmer inside than outside when we left
- Jack (10/5): -
- Hans-Peter (9/5): Zwechmässig und interessant für den Besucher. - Speziell, coole Unterkunft im Untergrund.
Einrichtung mit Zugang zur Küche und Kleider Waschmaschine. Störend: klapperndes Gräusch wärend der Nacht (Lüftung?).
- Finja (7/5): -
- karola (10/5): - Zimmer war größer als erwartet.
- Kirsty (5/5): - Staff lovely & efficient, and room very clean. Kitchen had all the facilities needed, and showers and toilets were very clean. Property is really dirty & messy in carpark area and all around the outside. Kitchen is filthy and smells terrible; old grease and dirt that hasn't been thoroughly cleaned for way too long. Room so far away from toilets I was wide awake after a couple of night hikes up there!
- Chris (8/5): Great location - Great location The bed had wheels without locks, it moved when getting in or out
- Larissa (7/5): - Cool to stay underground. Handy having a communal kitchen. Basic facilities did the job.
- Bryce (1/5): -
- Uwe (8/5): Gut! - Es war entspannt… Sehr einfach gehalten…
- BronislawSmol (7/5): -
- QIHUA (8/5): -
- barbour (10/5): -
- Beris (8/5): Gave me what it promised a new experience - Location was central and it was exactly what I wanted to experience. An underground stay. Nothing
- Lauren (6/5): Place for a bed for the night. Very expensive to get a private bathroom. - Clean Building works started at 6 a.m. Bed rolled around on the ground every time I rolled over. Microwave would have been good.
- Stewart (9/5): Road trip - Pleasant atmosphere, quiet, central Bed on rollers moved very easily
- Norm (9/5): - Underground rooms. And nice and dark
- Corina (1/5): -
- Brenden (4/5): Far to expensive for what we got - Underground Double bed not suitable, should be a queen , towels should be the same colour , crap everywhere around the property, rooms need to have updated furniture . Shower water pressure pathetic !!
- Don (8/5): If you want to stay somewhere completely unique and you enjoy living in the moment. Try this its crazy but fun - We were underground so who has done that shit aha Rock walls. Crazy. Looked fake it was such a mind blow. Actually nothing I didn’t like. Was funny and just such a different experience.
- Lauren (7/5): Fit for purpose. Good sleep. - Neat and tidy. Wifi No TVs in two of our three rooms. Shared facilities.
- Michael (7/5): -
- Cabay (9/5): -

- Chris K (10/5): -
- Deborah (7/5): Good basic accommodation for seeing Coober Pedy - The location was great and just a short stroll from many of the attractions. It felt a little ‘tired’ and there were a few basics lacking in the kitchen. Shared bathrooms were also in need of a facelift.

- Lailoma (9/5): It was great. - location Toilets
- Tracey (9/5): -

- Johno (8/5): Over all it was a pleasant stay. - It's was ok, affordable, Car parking. A little bit tight.
I didn't like the other occupants alarm clock going off at 4.30am. And not turning it off for age's.
- Belder (9/5): Would recommend/stay again sans dog issue - Ambience The room next to us had 2 dogs that barked every time someone walked passed
- Kenneth (8/5): -
- Glen (7/5): -
- Bianca (8/5): Great place to experience an underground motel in a basic room. - The location was right in the centre of the main street. Perfect! They were in the process of renovations, which I understand is a necessary part of running a motel. The doors did not close quietly and were rattling with the wind during our stay.
- Piggott (9/5): - Place was amazing, sleeping underground was an amazing experience.
Need to have a bit thicker pillows as they were a little low.
- Royle (6/5): Ok - Quite I paid an extra $36 for a room with private bathroom
