Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (2/5): - bad service ,small room no parking no refunds extra charge for changing dates dirty room everything extremely bad
- Verified traveler (4/5): -Jacob m - It was a good place and comfortable. I like the building in itself. They have available parking, and it’s overall just a nice building and it’s quiet. BUT whoever handles booking is ridiculous. They made it seem like service was great but I was told I could book my room for 21 days and pay for it a few days at a time, instead of all at once. And when I talked to another employee there was NOTHING about that in the computer. They said they booked the room over me but there was 100% rooms open and I was told there wasn’t. I was at work when I found out about this and they were trying to kick the person staying with me out and it was the day after Christmas. I had to stop working and get behind at work just so I could call and figure something out, (I had the car so he was about to be left out with all our stuff) they told me all the rooms were booked. BUT when I started to complain ALL OF THE SUDDEN a room was open and they let us stay one more night(remind you ALL of the rooms were booked). So that was my experience. Seems dishonest and for some reason I was treated differently. Like I said I really enjoyed the building and the room but had a terrible time with staff that handles booking.
- mark (2/5): Bait & Switch Pricing - They tried to triple the price from what it said I owed on Hotels.com so I asked them to cancel the reservation & booked elsewhere. The front desk attendant was very nice - said they have had a few instances of this happening as he said the price on Hotels.com is wrong.
- Molly A. (8/5): - This place was nice and in a great location, however, they need to install a roku or cable of some kind. All you get for tv entertainment is local channels.
- Alejandro (8/5): Great place to stay. - Went with a friend for a concert over the weekend and enjoyed my stay. The room was clean and had a kitchen with all the essentials. Some parts of the room seemed a slight bit worn, for example the bottom trim and the closet racks. But overall it's a nice place to stay. The check in process is quick if you have everything in order, and the check out process is just as quick.
- Innsung (2/5): - It took me about an hour to check in and also it turn out with lots of hidden cost ( they charge me $30 per day for parking, and $160 of apartment service fee)
Further more, the last day has water issue so that I couldn't use hot water.
I recommend that Hotel.com should take out this hotel from the list to avoid the complaints.
- Cosmas (10/5): - I enjoyed my stay.
- jason (10/5): worth every penny - Best hotel i ever stayed in no lie
- Richard (4/5): City view of the alley - My stay overall was okay. The City view was actually a view of the alley.. My room was clean with the exception of marks on the wall, a broken screen and a torn mattress dust cover. I received an email post stay attempting to charge me $150 for the broken screen. I was moved to a room that was supposed to be a city view but a charge was made to my account for the move? I was charged for a nonexistent over sized parking space The customer service was sub par but the location made up for the other issues.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - all of management was rude. there more to say. they perform a bait and switch.
- Rosalyn (10/5): Excellent 2BR/2BA stay! - This hotel apartment has an excellent location in downtown LA. The check-in process was different with confirmation of the credit card after my expedia reservation and an off site check-in location. Also, be prepared for parking fees and clean-up fee, although for the awesome rate for this location I thought it was worth it. Other than that, the unit I got was clean, smelled good, had huge bathrooms, full kitchen with all the basics included, and beds were comfortable. Only issue that I agree with the other reviews was the cable and remote didn't work well. You could change the channel after you pushed the buttons enough times. Overall, though I was impressed with my stay and would definitely stay here again.
- Eugene (10/5): Great stay in an apartment like hotel - I really enjoyed my stay at the Ginosi Wilshire Apartel. Cleanliness, comfort, and great amenities. It's also in a good location.
- Bryan (8/5): - Great casual restaurant/bar (Plan Check Kitchen and BAR) in the building.
- Anthony (10/5): Awesome - Great stay
- Douglas (4/5): They missed the mark. - Check in requires going to a separate location and then to the room. It's poorly organized and unnecessary for a short-term stay. When you book on a hotel site you don't expect such. The location is fantastic and the building is nice but the room is terribly supplied and managed. There is a TV but no service. Lightbulbs were out and the bed was cheap. It's really too bad. With better management and a little paint and a few pictures the apartment good be super nice.
- Edwin (6/5): Good, but bedding could be better. - Great apartment in a great location. However, the pillows and blankets were lacking. The ventilation was noisy but less so than on some hotels. The Apartment was a good value compared to hotels in the vicinity of the convention center. I had much better bedding in places like Sheraton four points or other facilities at lower costs outside the major city, this would be a good investment for this facility but otherwise it was acceptable. Los Angeles rates are ridiculous and this alternative is worth looking into.
- DAVID (4/5): 2 star rated motel, not recommended. - Be aware that check-in office is about 2 miles away from the site, 2 miles in LA downtown is not easy to get there back and forth. the check-in office dose not provide bathroom for their customers. the room is not clean with sticky floor, had no coffee filters, the pillows are so old and flat with bad smell. the room is also noisy from out side and upstairs. they should put new pillows, more towels, better janitorial service, and put extra curtain for noise reduction at window. they can do remote access with some efforts. their parking lot is good but you have to pay $30.00 per night. they charge $160.00 for services per stay but it is excessive compare to there services.
overall, the outside of apartment is good but the the room self was about 2 star rated motel. i do not recommend to rent this room unless they improve the room significantly.
- Octavio (4/5): High expectations but disappointing experience. - The room was not clean, the a/c heater was broken, and the stove was not cleaned. When we called the office to get these problems fixed, no one called back from the message left. The key to the building and garage malfunctioned and we were forced to go to the office. It was at this point we were able to address all the situations of the room to an actual person. All we got to do is vent because nothing got fixed before we had to check out. Hopefully they will fix these problems before the next guests arrive.
- Mira (8/5): - Two things could have been better. First, there was no indication on the listing that the check-in location was a mile and a half from the property itself. Second, I called to report that several light bulbs were burned out but they were never replaced.
- Adriana (8/5): Central - The room could use some upkeep. The bed, sheets and pillows are not comfortable at all.
- Mark (6/5): Good for Extended Downtown Stays, Subway Close - The place was decent. The linens and some of the furnishings left a lot to be desired. The closet door was broken and the front door and walls were incredibly scuffed and rundown looking. The couch originally in my place was covered in pet dander, which caused an allergic reaction. The office staff -- only available by phone -- was pretty unhelpful, but they connected me with the on-site staff and those guys were extremely nice and helpful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): It was close to the show we wanted to go to. - The dishes were a bit dirty & I had to rewash them before I used them. The blankets didnt smell clean & the pillows were extremely flat and uncomfortable. The carpet looked dirty & the blinds were broken. They charged for anything extra. They charged 30$ for parking and no other parking was available anywhere around. The tub wouldnt drain and didnt look cleaned. It just looked like they threw a bunch of old raggedy things from their houses and threw them all inside the hotel/apartment.
- Nguvitjita (6/5): - The apartment had old / cheap furniture. It remind me of a 2 star motel. Bathroom had a funny smell. TV did not work and the sink did not work either. It was not more than a 1-2 star place. If there is not a huge price difference, I suggest to stay at one of the 3-4 star hotels in the area.
- Robert (8/5): Downtown Los Angeles gem - Hotel was in a great location in downtown Los Angeles. It was difficult to find the parking garage based on the instructions the staff gave you several blocks from the hotel at check in. The beds were a little bit uncomfortable. But given the location and the price this place is a steal.
- Seth (10/5): Great place - Slight Wifi set back. - Everything was awesome except the Wifi. My phone picked up the 5G that was listed without a problem, but that didn't show up for my laptop. The regular Wifi that did show up on my laptop, I couldn't connect to. So, I wasn't able to work on my laproo but was still able to send/recieve emails on my phone. The management did offer help to try and fix the issue. Aside from that, the place was really nice, and I'd definitely go back. Hopefully the Wifi is better next time. :)
- Alexander (6/5): Good, not great. - Apartment was great and was very close to downtown area. Parking was expensive, and I would prefer a nicer area for the price. Staff was very reasonable on call but the on site personnel were rude and unwilling to accommodate any request. I would say this place is fine if you are going for business, but I would not recommend it for pleasure if you are on a budget.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean and downtown. No phone/WiFi signal - Pros:The location was perfect. 15 min walk to Microsoft and Staples Centers. Nice gym. Perfect size for 1-2. Decorated contemporary and clean.
Cons: Walls had a bit of wear (I.e. skid marks from luggage or clothing dye). Bathroom sink has a slow drain..basin filled up quickly. WiFi only worked the first night. I was not able to call customer service because neither of my two phones had absolutely any service. Don't know if this applies to every apt leased out by Genosi, but I did read something about this in a previous review.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Large basic apartment - Very basic accommodation. Good building and facilities
- Simon (2/5): Ruined my vacation - This hotel or apartel is so terrible and poorly managed. I had problem through out all days until I check out.
I was searching for two rooms for my six member family vacation for three nights and fours days.
1. During the reservation process for this hotel, they asked for two names for two rooms. So I wrote my name and my wife's name. Then I got a confirmation letter from both Expedia and from Ginoisi hotel. Then 4 days before the check in date I received an email saying that they need a credit card information along with a copy of ID and their credit card application for my wife. And they also mentioned that if they don't get this information within 36 hours, then they will cancel my reservation with no refund. Thank God I checked that email on time during my vacation time in Las Vegas. I wrote an email to them complaining why they need my wife's credit card and ID information. They did not reply to me. I was so worry they might cancel my reservation. So, I call them and they want my wife's information. I made the reservation for two rooms and I still don't understand why they need my wife's information. I just gave them the information they need to avoid the hassle and was afraid they might cancel my reservation with no refund. I did not want them to ruin my vacation.
2. When I check in they only gave one key for room and main entrance. It was very uncomfortable when there are three people in the room. And they charge $40 extra for additional person per night. much more.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - While the room was fine, when I checked in I was told the S. Flowers address was NOT where I was staying. I booked it for the address. The site staff was great and rearranged things to get me an apartment at the S. Flowers address - they saved the day! Not a fan of bait & switch.
- BRIAN (4/5): horribly run operation - I stayed here for a conference, it was a decent, clean place. But there were no pillowcases on the pillows, the bed was incredibly hard, the check in process was a 45 minute torture, they were very unorganized at check in. Instructions on how to access the place and park your car were more than confusing, they were dysfunctional.
- Kelly (6/5): great location, uncomfortable and bad service - The location of the property was GREAT, the doorman staff in the apartments was very nice. The staff that handles the rentals with Ginosi was not accommodating, the key pick up and drop off is not convenient and you are left to feel like they don't care about your business at all. I called the number for the front desk to ask about my surroundings and realized I was transferred to Armenia (their home office) and of course they had no idea about my surroundings other than what they searched on the web. The room was a great size but the furniture was very uncomfortable (modern) I've never slept on such an uncomfortable bed before (it was old school mattress w/ no padding on a box spring) The couch was a futon equally as hard. My 15 year old daughter commented that their was not even a comfortable chair in the apartment. I would not stay with the apartments again. Location great, residents and actual apartment staff was super nice. Ginosi staff needs to brush up on customer service skills.
- Harrison (10/5): Great for business people. - Really great room for the price. Lots of space providing that home away from home feel. However, the neighborhood is relatively devoid of social lives. However, they can be had for a short taxi ride and they are always around the block waiting.
I did not like the bed as it makes a squeaky noise and the corners protrude out so much I bumped into them all the time.
Another thing I don't like is that you have to pick up the keys from another location that is not walkable. I did not have a car and had to have a friend drive me there. Not a convenient arrangement for travelers.
I think this hotel is great for business people in town for a short to medium stay and have to do a lot of work nearby. Not great for tourists.
- Roseanne (8/5): - The apartment was great to stay in. Large kitchen/living area and the bedroom had a walk-in closet. Downside was since it was an apartment complex renting out rooms you didn't get the hotel service. Also the keys were not on the premises. The leasing office was on the opposite side of downtown and being we didn't have a car this was inconvenient to get. Sofa was hard and uncomfortable if planning on staying in one night just to relax and watch TV/movie. Bed was pretty good. Come prepared-No shopping close by.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place, would definitely stay again - Very straightforward check-in, really appreciated all the amenities and space
- colin (8/5): good for a medium to long stay - it was a nice one bedroom apt we liked the style of the decor and the balcony access. there was a slat missing from the vertical blinds made the living area not 100% private and the TV stopped working also neither of us had phone service. It is important to know that they also charge a $120 cleaning fee no matter what the length of your stay is. i think i would have to stay for a couple of nights to feel it is worth it next time. so despite all this it was a comfortable cozy little place.
- Kelli (6/5): Great area and building, cheap furnishings - Was in LA for business and needed a hotel in downtown and chose this as the rate and location were really good. Nice property, it's just that apartment # 325 is furnished cheaply! The futon couch was stiff to sit on and was uncomfortable to even watch TV. The queen size bed had a four inch spring mattress that was so uncomfortable that we tried to catch a flight home a day early to keep us from having to sleep on the bed for one more night! The pillows had to have come from the 99 cent store! So, if you like a crunchy stiff mattress and firm pillows, you will enjoy your stay.
- been around (2/5): Not a hotel - Paper thin sheets, no mattress cover and flat pillows made an uncomfortable sleep. The apartment is not what the pictures show, the walls were filthy, there were no basic toiletries not even soap! Company is in Yemen and blew off our complaints. If you are looking for a party place that no one will notice a few more scrapes on the walls then fine. If you are looking for a nice hotel, avoid this place, unless you plan on spending all your time at the pool or roof top deck which are operated by the building management and lovely
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was nice to either eat out or relax and eat in. Enjoyed getting up and hitting the gym and the pool.
- Ross (4/5): Apartment/ hotel near Dodger Stadium - We did not stay the night at this apartment/hotel because the bed sheets and pillows had a terrible smell of sweat and dirty hair. We tried to clean them in the washing machine but they still smelled after they were dried. The rest of the unit was clean but we could not sleep in that bed. We left the same night and drove all the way back home (two hours) to sleep in our own clean beds. The management refunded the cleaning fee and the tax but we still got stuck with the rental fee even though we couldn't and didn't stay. The receipt states no refunds, how convenient.
- angelito (6/5): Watch for hidden fees - Hit by surprise fees after I booked, $120 cleaning fee and $30 parking. I could have booked a comparable hotel for the amount of fees I got hit with.. Read everything!
- Nile (10/5): Expectations met - Room was clean, fit description well, but was not well noise insulated. Everything thing else was great. They do surprise you with a $120 cleaning fee per stay so beware & $20 per day parking.
- Davell (8/5): - Lovely
- C (8/5): Great building not flexible on key policy - Everything was great, except that it wasn't possible to get multiple copies of the keys. I was sharing an apartment with a colleague, and only one of us could get a key. For one person, it's great, but not for more than one.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good for a stay when you don't want to be bothered - This hotel was very nice. The facilities very modern and well kept. You don't need to worry about being bothered because I saw very few people in the lobbies and facilities. Which is both a good and bad thing depending on how you look at it.
The room was nicely decorated but felt empty, some walls were bare and it kind of ruined the style they were going for but overall they were very comfortable and I really didn't go to LA for my hotel room anyway. I used their gym frequently and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. I've stayed at many hotels and this gym was awesome! I'd be happy to workout there anytime.
The staff was very non-existent and that is probably my biggest complaint. I saw them work in their offices but never interact with patrons. The communication from the staff was very poor. Prior to checking in they did not tell me I needed to go to their offices, several blocks away, to get my room key. It was by pure chance that I mistakenly went there thinking it was the hotel and found out I needed to check in there. This was a big inconvience because I flew in and had to pay for a taxi (I actually used Uber) back and forth. They also will absolutely not let you check in before 3pm so plan your arrival, be it plane or car, accordingly
In conclusion this is a great looking hotel, but also be aware that for some guests this is their home, that's why it says apartments and not hotel. I spent most of my time in LA out and about so my experience was good
- Lee (10/5): Upscale Studio Apartment in Downtown LA - I had an event at the LA Convention Center and was happy to find the Ginosi Studio Apartment available. This turned out to be a very nice, upscale high rise with all the amenities. It was so quiet in the building I wondered if anyone else lived there. It was a safe and secure building with easy access to the Convention Center. It was nice to have the option of cooking in the full kitchen if I wanted to. The bed and sofa were very comfortable. The towels were basic towels so if soft and luxurious is important to you it would be best to bring your own if you can. There was no daily maid service so I kind of missed that, but really that was pretty minor. The check in process is explained in an email that arrived about 5 days before my stay was to begin. The instructions were simple and clear. The apartment was spacious enough for just me. It seemed it would be equally comfortable with another person there as well. I was very happy with my stay at this apartment and I plan to look for other accommodations like this in the future especially when I have longer stays.
- Verified traveler (6/5): great except for the noise - able to hear lots of street noise and noise from the room next door
- Verified traveler (8/5): decent place downtown LA - good place except for the very poor noise insulation
- Monica M. (10/5): Stress Free hotel! - This was a very modern, nice and clean hotel. We loved how it came with a standard washer/dryer and a kitchen. It saved us money on buying food. It was a convenient location to the LA Convention Center where my daughter played volleyball. We enjoyed the outdoor fireplace with cozy sitting area by the pool. I will add this hotel to my book of "good" hotel experiences :-)
- Karen (2/5): Go Somewhere else this place is TERRIBLE - If there was a way to do 0 stars it would be 0, the apartment is Blahh, probably the worst bed i've ever slept on, you can feel each metal spring in your back.
You might probably get a good rate BUT BEWARE they will charge you a $120 dollar fee for cleaning (which the apartment was very dirty on the floors) and they tried to charge another $80 dollars per night for a extra guest (a 5 year old kid).
And if you like to sleep with no noise and a dark room this is not the place for you (no blackout nor double window for noise cancellation).
My recommendation to you is GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, this place SUCKS.
