• Juana (6/5): - decent in general, although not entirely honest. When I booked it said "shuttle to/from airport". There wasn't any, the employees didn't know what it was, and made no effort to find out
• Paula (4/5): Needs an overhaul... - Firstly I’d like to say the staff were all helpful welcoming and professional, however that is where the good news ends. Bedding is a scratchy blanket between two sheets. The communal areas are beyond just needing a clean with frayed capers and ancient decor long overdue an overhaul. Cheap but I’ve stayed in cheaper in the area that were cleaner with better facilities.
• Verified traveler (6/5): bitten by bed bugs - breakfast food is better from some hotels, however there were bed bugs and got bitten during the few nights stay, even after changing the bed sheets. something need to be done to the mattress, suggest changing to new ones if they have not been changed for a long time.

• gracemtz93 (2/5): Terrible Experience Ever! Definitely not go back there again! - The bar itself is not bad, not so good cocktails and a quiet place but a bad management. There is this annoying so called manager who is rude and unprofessional for someone who is working in the field of hospitality. We had a little miscommunication regards with the service and the bar’s T&C but instead of coming to negotiate with us directly, she rudely scolded the waiters in front of us, ranting the words aiming to us. Very disappointed. Things could have been sorted out in a smoothed peaceful way. And we also heard back that this is not the first time happening. They are losing their customers and they should have learnt the words "Hospitality", "Customer Service" and "Flexibility". Never stepping into that bar again as long as the management doesn’t know how to communicate with the customer in the most professional way.
• pohl136 (8/5): Nice rooftop bar - This hotel is perfect for a stay as it's a central yangon,location is one of the best,room is spacious but old n nice Sapphire bar at level 12 rooftop. Breakfast can be improve as it's almost same everyday. nearby 3 min walking distance to Yaw Min Gyi (Boyar Nyunt Street),i went there everyday for meal,beer n wine,there's lot of pub,bar,restaurants and massage,my flavour jap food,local cuisine n mala xiangguo.I love body&foot massage at Singapore foot reflexology,skillful style n strength power.just feel relax n a warm street . Recommended hotel if price ok. Easy walking distance to many tourists attraction like Bogyoke market, junction city, Chinatown.. Sure we will be back.
• 41marleym (8/5): Rooftop bar for sunset! - I didn't actually stay at the hotel, but I visited the rooftop bar at sunset which I highly recommend! It's nothing too fancy but you can get a Myanmar beer and enjoy an excellent view of the city. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

• pnghenryb (6/5): Good sized rooms with low ceiling - I recently stayed at Alfa I had choose it because of its location. I was pleasantly surprised about the rooftop bar, I liked to rooms even though the ceilings were very low, but the towels very extra old and the amenities very poor. I might come back for the bar but not for the rooms.
• GundaBoy (6/5): Birthday 🎂 Bash - We booked this hotel so that we could crawl back after the rooftop party. Nice quiet place. Surrounded by heaps of restaurants. Small & nice. Must visit the rooftop bar for nice views of Yangon. Travellers...this is a nice base for sightseeing
• Stektan (8/5): Simple but nice rooftop bar - Review is for the Sapphire Bar on top of the Alpha Hotel. The hotel looks like a 3 star hotel and we had some doubts when we went into the hotel lounge. Reaching the bar on top of level 12, we were greeted by a rather bare large rooftop with chairs and tables placed loosely. The bar is literally two simple tables with different alcohol bottles displayed on it. We didn't have much hope. But the view was great and we had a good view of the padoga and full moon, which was really nice. Ordered a mojito and it was not bad at all. In other countries, this will probably get two or three stars from me but given that it is in myanmar, I think the place deserves 4 stars. Just remember that this is still a relatively new emerging market and places are still not fully commercialize yet, which is the main point. Sit back, enjoy the view, sip the cocktail which is only usd2.5, and relax. I'm sure one day, this bar will go through dramatic transformation into a high end bar with proper chairs, deco and expensive cocktails but I truly like it the way it is now. Enjoy while it lasts.
• kormensandiego (8/5): Good Quiet Rooftop Bar - Been here twice and there's barely anybody here. It's a nice quiet place to hang out, have a drink and enjoy the sunset with Shwedagon Pagoda in sight. Take the elevator to the top floor and look for the stairs that lead up to the rooftop.

I didn't stay here either but recommend the view from the rooftop bar - The view of Shwedagon Pagoda is clearly the main reason people visit the Sapphire rooftop bar at the Alfa Hotel. Sipping a cocktail as the sun sets on the golden shrine is an essential part of being in Yangon. The service may be a bit slow and the price is not cheap - but it is a view!
• Mario (6/5): 経済的ホテル、１階のラウンジと１２階のスカイラウンジは穴場 - 昔の映画に出るような、典型的な古い趣のあるホテルである。 市街地から少し外れた場所にあり、買物と食事はやや不便である。 設備は古いが、手入れ、掃除は丁寧である。 ホテルには不釣り合いとも思われる、ラウンジが１階と１２階にある、 特に１２階のラウンジはShwedagon Pagoda が綺麗に眺望できる。 ラウンジは閑散としており、静かに飲める穴場である。　
• MT0024 (10/5): I didn't stay here but I highly recommend the rooftop bar. - I did not stay here. I did, however, visit the rooftop bar and highly recommend it. You don't need to be a guest of the hotel to visit the rooftop. Simply go to the lobby and tell the staff you'd like to go to the rooftop and they will show you the elevator. When you get to the roof, you will inevitably see a quiet place with few patrons and several attentive servers. You will have a great view of Shwedagon Pagoda and all of downtown Yangon. The place isn't really glitzy but it has a definite charm, perhaps as a recognition of quieter times in Yangon. It is a must visit in Yangon. Prices for drinks are only marginally higher than in shops on the street and certainly much, much lower than more trendy rooftops in the city. Visit for a taste of bygone Asia!

• Rutko (2/5): NOT recommended - I'll start by saying we aren't very demanding customers. In nearly 3 weeks in myanmar we stayed in various places, all of which we found great, even very cheap backpackers hostels with no warm water or mirror in the room. However, we do think you should get what you pay for and this place just doesn't make sense. positive things first: the hotel is well located, near some nice restaurants and cafes and not far from the shwedagon pagoda. And the wifi works well. Other than that, it really sucked. Was by far and away the worst hotel we stayed in, in an almost 3 week trip to Myanmar - and the most expensive!! (Slightly surpassing even a beach front bungalow at Ngapali!) The hotel and its furniture and equipment are very very old with some ridiculous features, like none of the room or bathroom lights working unless the main light is on (which makes it hard when one person is awake and the other isn't), and an almost cute built- in radio set from the 70s at the very latest! bad smell in the room (of smoking, to which a bellboy was sent to spray some anti-odor all over the room...) and in the hallways (of ginger cooking or something like that) - both topped with a lingering scent of mold. Bath was uninviting to say the least. My friend came in late and accidentally walked into a different room to discover that the key worked!! After which she tried a few more and apparently the magic key opened all the rooms she tried. Didn't really matter because the hotel was empty except for us - and rightfully so. The reason we picked this hotel was because of the so-called rooftop bar, which turned out to be a poor guy standing in front of a small reception table stocked with some alcohol bottles, and an entirely unimpressive view. Yes, you can see the Shwedagon pagoda but aside from that not much more. We know there is a supply-demand problem in Yangon which makes for a situation in which hotels don't need to try very hard and still have a steady flow of clients. However, this place was hostel-level with hotel price so better to just stay at a very basic backpackers place.
• paulboop (10/5): “Our Favorite Yangon Hotel” - In Yangon we returned again to the ALFA hotel (alfahotelyangon@gmail.com) It’s a 3 star situated on Nawaday street, very near to Bogyoke market. Our group required eight rooms (DLX DBLS at $100.-) and I had requested that they be on an upper floor (to avoid street noise) and as close together as possible. We arrived at the hotel at 11.00 a.m. . Alice, the new general manager, had arranged an early check-in. At 11.00 a.m. !! That’s a very customer friendly welcome. All our rooms were together on the 10th floor. Breakfast was OK with particularly tasty, home-made ,Yoghurt. The staff were helpful ,welcoming, cooperative and eager to make our stay enjoyable. Our shopping had resulted in a large load of baggage. They helped us load them through the windows of our hired bus. We’ll return to ALFA every time we go to Yangon.
• ArseneDebris (8/5): Friendly mid-priced and central - I work in Myanmar frequently and have stayed here for some time since the hotel prices started to escalate - a result of greed meets demand. Alfa actually cut their price this year to become competitive. The staff are all very polite, friendly and helpful. The manager is also very friendly and appreciative of custom.Rooms and shared areas are clean and tidy. It has a functioning elevator which is good when it's hot. Hot water, tea making facilities, TV with Lotus Macau English language movies. Air-conditioning a silver-backed curtains. Wifi is improving as the network in Yangon improves. The distance to Bogyoke Aung San Market is about 5 minutes walking across the iron railway footbridge. There are restaurants in the hotel, one rooftop Sapphire Bar has a view of the city and Shwedagon Pagoda. Nearby are restaurants, money changers (also one attached to the hotel). I appreciate being able to walk to town and not be stuck on the edge of the lake or further out.
• Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel was ok for the online price of about $80 USD/night for Yangon. However, if you do not book online, the price is $120/night and this hotel is not worth it. (for that price there are much nicer hotels in the area). The breakfasts were adequate, there is a new gym, and there is an interesting outdoor rooftop bar if desired. Though I had a non-smoking room, smoking was allowed in the next rooms and hallways. The carpeting, furniture, bedding/linens, and overall condition of the hotel was outdated, worn, and shabby. I chose this hotel only because it would except online and credit card payment which is difficult to find in Yangon hotels. Had I ben able to pay in cash, there is a much nicer hotel next door to Alfa for half the price of Alfa Hotel.

• 39saida (4/5): Tired Hotel - Needs Help - In my Tripadvisor comment on Alfa Hotel which I submitted in Feb 2013, I ended it with a commitment: "We will stay at Alfa on our next visit to Yangon". Yes, during my recent visit to Yangon in Feb 2015, I stayed at this hotel again for 5D/4N This time my wife and I chose the Deluxe Double room with Pagoda view and was allocated a room on the 12th floor. I was glad that the tatty wall paper in the Deluxe room had been removed and the walls painted. However, the furniture were the same old wooden ones, almost antique. The cupboard had no shelves and the drawers of the wooden cabinet were stuck and could not be opened. This is the same comment I made in 2013. The newly installed Air Conditioning unit, the new water heater and pump only improved the functional aspects of the Deluxe room. The atmosphere in the room remained the same - ancient and depressing. In fact, one of the bedside table had an antique radio only with medium wave (MW) and Long wave (LW) and no FM and so did not serve its purpose; we could not get any transmissions from it, except noise. The bathroom fittings were dated, in fact, the bathtub was badly chipped and the bathroom was so tired, dim and aged. The Deluxe rooms of the hotel, and in fact, all the 90 rooms of the hotel need a good refurbishing with a modern and more functional furniture. The modern trend in hotels in the region is to have a good shower unit, no bathtubs. The room was over priced. A new modern and trendy Sunny Holiday Hotel, which just opened for business not far down the same road, gives a much better value for money. In order for Alfa Hotel to be competitive and to remain in business it had better invest in a total renovation of all rooms, and remove the old cupboards, the bathtubs and the tatty wall paper which had not been touched in the standards rooms. Sorry, I am not coming back to this hotel this time.

• 9Archangel (6/5): Central but tired hotel - Only one night at this hotel. The reception looked promising but the room was very tired looking and needed some maintenance. Breakfast was adequate. Free WiFi but only worked outside the room, in view of the router. A pretty average hotel.

• 739tiffanyb (8/5): Sapphire Lounge - Best View! - If you want the absolute best view of Shwedagon Pagoda at night then you must come to Sapphire Lounge. The lounge itself isn't anything fancy. But I love the atmosphere. It's like being on the roof top of a friends condo/apartment. It's a very chill atmosphere. People enjoying the view, the drinks and the company. I came for the view of the golden pagoda all lit up at night. But I stayed for the relaxed ambiance of the lounge. A great way to spend an evening in Yangon! Highly recommend!
• mohammadr423 (6/5): "Budget stay , middle of the city" - My first night in yangon starts with this hotel, nice warm welcome. Best thing i found the nearest food corner (2 min walk). For a single traveler this hotel is good choice but not cost effective. It will not give you the luxury of living but can give you the view of Myanmar from its rooftop restaurant.
• Teh_Ais (6/5): Convenient location - This hotel is situated 10mins away from Shwe Dagon Pagoda (north) by foot and Bogyoke Market (south) from the hotel. If you're the adventurous type, walking by foot up to China Town (15 street) is possible while absorbing the local culture along the way. There are eateries 2-3 minutes away from the hotel and convenience stores along the alley to buy survival items. The hotel is decent (as usual, Myanmar hotels are higher in price due to the under-developed land space) for the price and they serve a reasonable breakfast to get you started for the day. The toilet is clean but in all honesty, things could be better if they took the effort to work on minor details to improve the hotel (re-grouting the toilet tiles, a paint job, tightening faucets, etc.) WIFI is crap like the internet in the country, but with patience and re-starting of the routers, you may get a decent stable connection. Not fast, but stable. Taxis are easy to flag on the main street and if you're looking for night life, a little further from Bogyoke can get you to Asia Plaza or "entertainment" around the Shangri La.
• miss_piaalba (8/5): Great View from the room - Room was neat, but a little dim. I noticed that there was something leaking in the toilet bowl's base but it wasn't really a big deal for me. The room was spacious. Breakfast was ok. Hotel's staff were friendly.
• majzitka (6/5): Average hotel with Good Location - I was expecting much more from this hotel so I was disappointed a bit. Outside look is not offering very pleasant first impression. Lobby is small but I must say staff is really lovely and very helpful (what is an important point). But the space in the hotel is a bit claustrophobic (I even had feeling that ceiling is smaller than it should usually be). There is only one lift in the hotel with 2 floors added to one number in the lift (number 8 is for 7th and 8th floor so you need to use stairs anyway). But you are able to see Shwedagon pagoda while moving to the top as wall in the lift is glassy (thanks to this you can breathe a bit in this narrow lift by seeing the view). Also the view of Shwedagon pagoda from the room is something! That you attempt to personalize yourself with Kipling when he saw this monument for the first time. Corridors were quite scary and smelling of cigarettes. Room was clean but with an old-fashioned and musty look. Also there was a constant problem with the bathroom (plumbing and flush). OK wifi connectivity BUT there was construction going on in the opposite building during the whole night so I could not sleep properly. As a main advantage of this hotel I see its location and great view from the rooftop bar. Breakfast restaurant was a bit small but food offer was sufficient and also very tasty. If this hotel wants to satisfy tourists needs on a high level it surely needs renovation and some investment!

It is, however, a short walk to the main market.
