- Anthony (10/5): The ideal, romantic getaway. Both secluded and peaceful. - This property is steeped in history. It was both a pleasure and a privilege to stay somewhere that has such stories to tell. The grounds are large and private. We stayed in one of the Royal bedrooms and also took advantage of the spa and treatments. This is not a complaint but as someone who likes generous portions at dinner I feel the menu could be improved a little to allow more. The food was all of excellent quality and cooked to perfections.

- Kevin (10/5): Fantastic service - Just the grounds were fantastic, beautiful building, but more than I think but the staff When we arrived, there was a bit of a mixup regarding the room I booked a Booking.com and what Hartwell house had arranged It was Valentine’s weekend and I was very disappointed that what I was expecting was not what we got I explained it to the gentleman who brought us to the room and right away he went to the Management and discussed it or I’ve got a call within minutes They explain that the building was fully booked and there was not a lot they could do. I explain my frustration. And I was disappointed The manager said to give her a few minutes and she see what she could do Again within moments, I got a callback and they rectify the issue No long waiting around No awkwardness No hassle Efficient, professional and how a facility should run I can’t thank them enough The room is spectacular and exactly what I was expecting I will be returning without shadow of doubt Honestly Nothing

- Angela (10/5): A wonderful country house with spa - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house and grounds are wonderful. The spa facilities are excellent and the treatments were very good. We stayed two nights, had a little meal in the local pub (easy walk to the pub) and an excellent dinner at Hartwell House the second night. We will plan a second visit next year. It would be helpful if the map of walks on the grounds was a little clearer as it seemed to show some walks that we couldn't do.
- royle (8/5): Hartwell House is a great hotel - The hotel is steeped in history and well worth a visit. Ethan and Sonnel are great ambassadors to the hotel. It is a lovely hotel to escape for a break. It is a bit pricey and lacks a selection of glassware for a 5 star hotel. The room did not have a fridge but Ethan kindly found a small one for the room. A five star hotel should have a fridge in the room.

- Emily (10/5): A wonderful nostalgic visit - We loved that Hartwell was just the same as it was 28 years ago, when we last visited for our honeymoon. It has lost none of its authentic charm. It's just fantastic. Food was also delicious. The spa was so busy, there was nowhere to relax by the pool. Could I suggest booked times as I was super disappointed. This was a big part of my stay and I resented that I had paid a lot of money to stay at a fabulous spa hotel and couldn't relax at the spa!

Some of the staff were cold and overly formal - understand some guests would maybe prefer that style but it came across as unnerving at times. Spa staff were nice but again very formal - not allowed to take a sunbed outside despite it being 20 degrees - and the facilities could use a touch-up compared to some of the photos. Dinner was also overpriced and overly formal for younger people.

- Kristie (8/5): - I took my husband here for a night away for his birthday. The hotel is beautiful, very special with amazing rooms to explore and sit by one of the many fireplaces with a drink. We were allocated a room in the coach house which is closer to the spa but not part of the main building. The room was like staying in my grandmas house, clean but very old fashioned. I know that’s supposed to be the charm of a place like this but I think they can find a way to combine the character with a bit of an update. I would say the spa area is basic and the massage my husband got was underwhelming given the high price. The highlight was the breakfast which was very nice, although it was spoiled by the fact I was told off by the waiter for making a phone call. I’m all for rules, but there was no warning anywhere that mobile phones are not allowed to be used so I felt quite embarrassed. This was a night away without the children so naturally I wanted to check in on them in the morning. Anyway, would I stay here again, probably not, but maybe staying in the main hotel and not being spoken to like a child would change my mind.

The hotel boasts a perfect location with expansive grounds for leisurely strolls and breathtaking scenery. Once home to King Louis XVIII, it is steeped in historic charm and elegance. We had a lovely experience, particularly enjoying breakfast served by the very friendly staff member, Sonar. Every room is impressive, adorned with beautiful paintings and thoughtfully decorated. As soon as you step inside, it feels as though time has paused, making you want to relax by the cozy fireplaces scattered throughout the hotel. While I had some initial concerns after reading reviews about renovations, I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms are spacious, and for a place with such historical significance, the hotel is in excellent condition.

- Beckham2020 (10/5): So much Perfection in one place - The most incredible experience from arrival to departure. I had a great tour of the hotel and a little history lesson regarding the historical figures who lived in the hotel ( I think the gentleman's name was Jacob, thank you!!). My room was stunning with a wonderful view of the grounds. The hotel decor is beautiful and very Bridgertonesque but also very comfortable with great spots where you can just chill and read a book. The bar is incredible, very cosy and British - definitely recommend. Spa was super chilled, not many people around. It was a warm day so I grabbed a sun lounger to soak up the rays on the patio. I also had an incredible frozen facial where the facialist treats your skin with - 200 degree blasts of air, I WAS GLOWING for days. Food is very traditional with everyone dressed well for dinner, I don't mind dining alone but did feel more conscious than I would normally, maybe because it was so formal but the food was beautiful!! On my last day I did a lovely walk in the grounds before taking a quick taxi and jumping on a train back to the big smoke, Thanks to everyone for my wonderful stay.

The dinner and breakfast service were great. The shower over the bath, we are sure the room on booking.com stated a walk in shower, stand to be corrected. It was not great. No fridge in the room for the amount we paid, very poor.

- Alan (10/5): Wonderful weekend in an historically significant hotel. - Room spacious with view of garden. Beautiful walk around the estate. Historical links. Safe car parking. Breakfast excellent. Evening dinner first rate. Staff very helpful and polite. Spa facilities excellent (but, on the day we left, we were not allowed access to the swimming pool after our check-out time. This was very disappointing) See swimming pool comment above.
- Vanda (8/5): A pleasant two day stay - The grounds and house were beautiful, well preserved and interesting. There were plenty of staff who were professional and attentive. Our room was lovely. It was large and comfortable. There were plenty of sockets to recharge our electronic devices. We would have liked to see some evidence of wilding in the grounds, perhaps introducing some pigs and wild ponies. The bath in room 28 needed a scrub. It would have been even better if the portions at dinner had been larger. At breakfast I would have liked fresh avocado on my toast instead of a smear of avocado paste.

- Matthew (10/5): A perfect weekend in the country - The peace and quiet. The history. The architecture. The grounds. The public rooms with newspapers and magazines to sit and relax in. The staff went out of their way to look after every request. They kind and friendly. It was real a pleasure to stay there. The gym was small (but the pool was lively).

- Rory (8/5): A restful stay in a beautiful location with attentive staff - The breakfast was excellent - I judge a hotel by how they cook scrambled eggs and yours were first rate. The main house is beautiful - it felt a bit like stepping back in time to a country house weekend. More teabags and milk needed in the room
