Guest Reviews
- victoria w (4/5): - I do not like to give poor reviews however all the cleaning products were highly perfumed. You could smell the room before opening the door.
The people there were very friendly and provided us with a 4 litre jug of vinegar and we did have the windows open to air out the room but it was impossible to mitigate all the heavy fragrance - especially when it is in the sheets and duvet.
This is an ecological problem as most heavily scented products are of lower quality and inexpensive.
We were there during the shoulder season and even though there were few guests we were accommodated right next to others. The soundproofing between rooms is poor and we were awakened by fan and plumbing noise as well as early morning move out.
All in all, far too expensive for what is offered.
- Penelope (8/5): - Just a quick stay!!! Comfortable and convenient
- Rizwana (6/5): - The room we stayed was very dark, inadequate lighting and a damp smell. Placing a chair in the room might be helpful. It seemed pricey in terms of amenities were offered. But the outside view was gorgeous and the front desk lady was very friendly and respectful
- Rodolfo (10/5): - Beautiful place and excellent staff.
- Alan (10/5): - They do a great job here. Friendly, courteous, and hatd working.
- Harriet (10/5): - Very peaceful and quiet location. Large walkable property was lovely.
Only issue was the bathroom fan wasn't working and it became very stuffy and hot in the bathroom after showering.
- Nicole (10/5): Beautiful - Adorable place. So relaxing and peaceful there. The atmosphere is great. The staff is amazing. Lisa is great. Such a nice place would recommend it all. Felt like paradise!!
- Paul (10/5): - Very quiet and clean
- Chris (10/5): - Very clean. Beautiful grounds. Great views by the water. Would stay again.
- Teena (10/5): - I have stayed here several times. Alway a good experience.
- Steven (10/5): - Beautiful spot in PEI. Farm roads near the property are a joy to walk down. Close to town, but not too close. Loved it.
- Joe (10/5): - Incredibly beautiful setting. Lisa is very warm and welcoming. We wish we'd been able to extend our stay. Next time!
- Pam (10/5): - The property was huge and well taken care of, the staff was friendly and helpful. Walking distance to downtown and the breakfasts were delicious
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Owners went out of their way to help me out and were very welcoming.
- JoAnn (10/5): On our dream vacation. - Coming in the entrance to the grounds were very nicely kept. LISA was very helpful and friendly. The remodelled room was awesome. The bed was comfortable and so were the pillows. It would be a perfect place for a family reunion. Lots of room.
- Nancy Jean (8/5): - Very friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - i liked the friendliness of the owners we stayed in a room with two queen beds, a coffee pot, microwave and mini fridge and washroom as well for 4days ,its meant for overnight guest they had nothing else available, so it was our choice. All things considered it was a nice room , .
- Amy (10/5): - Very hospitable owners who were there for anything we needed... cozy room, quiet, peaceful stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice property overall. The room was spacious and comfortable. It was just a bit musty smelling.
- Freya (10/5): Great Little Getaway - Had a great stay in a nice quiet area. Lisa and Paul the new owners were wonderful. Great basic accommodations with lots of room. Beds were very comfortable. If we were going to be in the area again we would stay here.... Thanks Lisa....
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Our stay was very pleasant. The owners were helpful and very friendly. Rooms are very clean! Would highly recommend to stay here.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Breakfast on site would be convenient.
Having other guests sitting on the porch in front of our unit was a bit uncomfortable.
Facilities themselves were fine.
- robert (10/5): - It was everything we expected or wanted. The staff were very helpful
The facilities were very comfortable
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The mattress was awful. The bathroom light wshooked into the fan which was as loud as a cessa plane . Same with the folks on either side of us... Sooo up all night !
The tv remote did not work to rurn off n on. Staff showed us how to turn it on when we checked-in.
Loved thelo cation.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It is roomy and quiet in a rural setting close to. Town, Alberton.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We stayed during hurricane Dorian, although we lost power the night we stayed there was a generator on in the morning so we could have hot showers and coffee. Everything considered with the storm we enjoyed our stay.
- Sue (8/5): - The room was spacious and included a full kitchen. It was clean, well taken care of, and very comfortable. The only disappointment was that I thought it said there was a beach view and that was not there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quiet. Of the busy road secluded.laundry facilities. Handy restaurants
- Verified traveler (10/5): - nice and quite will be returning next year, staff very help full
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The location was great. We were upgraded to a cabin which was a treat. Clean fresh air.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - the landscaping was nice but as soon as you entered the room there was a terrible musty odour
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was very close to job site and even booked out extra rooms without a problem. They accommodated the crews right away.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The motel rooms are old. We did get a cottage the second night which was an improvement. As a family of 4 this gave us more room. When I booked online the cottages were not an option. It was fine for a couple of nights but not sure if I would spend more than that there unless it was in a cottage.
- Muhammad (10/5): Check In Problem - Only issue we faced was since we arrived late around 9.15 pm so there wasn’t anybody to check us in and we didn’t see any proper prominent sign of property’s name and had to struggle for 20 minutes in the area to locate . Even the guys at TimHortens which is almost next door to check in office was not aware of the property . We had to actually mock st the doors of a cabin and they guided us towards location of office as well as the number to call after hours ( posted on their doors ) . There was no response from regular number . Finally on phone they informed us of our cottage number and we managed to check in . Other than this aspect this is an excellent property .
- Pascal (4/5): Really disappointed -
take care for your reservations, on the site of hotel.com and the concordance with the establishment, they do not offer a kitchenette as described on hotel.com, the owner never wanted to honor these accommodations, we lost our time, and our money. I was not satisfied with the results after discussion with the owner who offered us as an alternative to upgrade our room to a cottage, which would be $ 50 per night extra.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice and quiet area not far from amenaties, clean room and friendly staff
- Norbert (10/5): We’d return without hesitation. - Traveling through the NW corner of PEI you won’t find fancy establishments so this one is simple, clean and comfy. Owner Gary will answer all enquiries with a smile.
Our self-contained, fully equipped cottage lacked nothing as even my wife acknowledged. Nearby Alberton has a bakery/restaurant with long line-ups at lunch time.
- Traveller (10/5): - For the value it was a good stay. Maybe a microwave and fridge with freezer helps out the traveller
- George (10/5): - This is in a great location,,,off main road and close to Alberton. The rooms are on one level and have nice seating outside each room to rrlax and enjoy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great cottage, in fact was surprised af how nice cottages were. Pictures don't do them justice. Gary and Debbie wete fantastuc, you'll definitely want to chat with them to get insider/local info on where to go. The beach on site is very small but water was warm. Some nice beaches up the toad, ask Gary!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Awesome place,very quiet,owners amazing :)
Very comfortable bed,nice set-up.
Had a great stay :)
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice location, friendly owners.
Good parking, reasonable price
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The property was clean, the first cottage smelled mouldy, I asked to have another one , they gave us one with an upstairs no air condition upstairs, very warm night.... there is no snack bar on property, This property would not be for a second time
- Jemma (10/5): - Lovely place to stay very friendly staff nice to sit on balcony and hear the birds
- JC (10/5): - The owners are truly lovely and accommodating. Our room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. We would stay again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great looking properly, beautiful trees, clean and well groomed
- Elizabeth (10/5): - No complaints whatsoever other than the garbage facilities provided were too small. Sorry for the mess we left behind in that regard. There were extenuating circumstances (a little man still in diapers and his sick grandmother). Other than that, it was great!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Lots of open area to walk right down to the beach.
Ok first they put us in the room right next to the office. Then complained that the dog barked at everyone that walked by. The place was filthy. Coach smelled bathtub dirty bed unsleepable. Then after unpacking and waiting for 4 hours they offered to move us. Im disabled and it took us an hour to unpack the car in the first place. The free wifi kept kicking us out every 5 mins. When we complained about all this the the lady she was like oh well that's what its like here. Then after a night of no sleep we wake up and Rachel tries to take a shower and there's no hot water. Complained to the owner about it along with a few other guests and after a couple of hours with no hot water this was the last straw. We asked for our money back and they only gave us a partial refund and no apologies from the lady onwer. We'll never stay there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was out of town, a little dated but clean and friendly. It was a motel with wooden screen doors that slammed each time they were walked through. The boardwalk out front of doors was creaky and made quite a bit of noise when someone walked on it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice management. Helpful, friendly staff. Clean, nice set up.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Beautiful property, lovely cottages. A nice quiet space to stay that offers you a chance to make a home away from home.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Every thing was great , enjoyed our stay ! Our host was excellent !
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The suite had everything I needed in the kitchen. Parking was good. There was a loud mechanical noise. The place smelled like cigarettes.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great spot! - We stayed for two nights and it was great, quiet area out of the way and our dog had a lot of room to run and play without having traffic issues. Beautiful spot. We would stay again.
- Rachel (10/5): - Very good view of d River... very good place for a retreat from d big city...
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It's a nice location. Next to the lake if you want to go for a dip. Alberton is a nice quaint town. The only thing I didn't like was the mosquitoes. I was breakfast, lunch and dinner to them.
- Lynn (8/5): - It was close to our function we attended. owners are friendly and accomadating
- Pat (10/5): - WOW what wonderful treat to find this well cared for property. Gary and his wife have done an incredible job in creating the perfect get away for travelers. The care that is exhibited in Gary's creations is proof of the pride they take in treating their guests like family. The rooms were spacious and suited our needs. Satellite TV was an extra treat !!!! We would loved to have stayed longer and highly recommend this treasure to anyone who appreciates a homey comfortable stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean and homey. Beautiful location. Family friendly.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Everything was wonderful regarding the staff and accommodations, but the walls must be a little thin, and our neighbors were inconsiderately loud, late night and early morning. The owner and those who work there shouldn't be knocked for other's bad behavior, but we got a terrible night's sleep.
- Dr Dennis (10/5): Hidden gem - Property was excellent. Very quite surroundings. Had 5 min drive to Alberton for an excellent breakfast at the bakery. Owners and staff were so friendly. Located near all the places we wanted to visit and golf. So far our favorite place in PEI
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Arrived late, left early. Comfortable rest.
- A Hillary (10/5): - Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Room was impeccably clean, bright, cozy and well-equipped for preparing own meals. The grounds are lovely and while the off-the-beaten-path location might not appeal to some travelers, I loved the peace and quiet. I did not have any trouble with hot water and my bed was very comfortable, contrary to what I had read in previous reviews. Wifi service is poor - this didn’t bother me at all (who need to be on their phone during a vacation?!) but may be of more consequence to others. A wonderful place to stay and will be back if I find myself in this neck of the woods again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great traditional property with wonderful staff. Beautiful location too.
- Nancy (10/5): - Beautiful spacious chalet situated in a peaceful environment had a wonderful time
- Daryl (8/5): - Very private with great views excellent location for peoples visiting with pets
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Beautiful stay cation for us !
- Christine (10/5): - Very friendly and very clean. Very helpful with directions. Nice quiet location close to town.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved the property and the owners. Beeautiful place.
- Liz (10/5): - Great helpful owner. If there was something to change. Mane a dock at the river and some paddle boards would be fun
- Vicki (6/5): Disrespectful neighbors when on vacation - The location is good and enjoyable. The young child next door has been allowed by his parents to make noise of all kinds. It sounds like he is jumping off the furniture, and then he has run back and forth in the room and then run across the porch and the vibrations and noise have been unacceptable. I would never have allowed my child to make this kind of noise and be disrespectful of other peoples rights to have a pleasant vacation. We have had a very stressful year, and were looking forward to peace and quiet and he has been very loud.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Location is nice as it’s tucked away just a short distance from Alberton. It has its own beach. The room wasn’t bad but the lighting was minimal and the air was really damp and musty despite the AC.
- Benoit (10/5): Upscale location to stay in Alberton, Briarwood A+ -
The Briarwood Inn is an upscale motel. Very big room, nice furniture. Clean with comfortable bed. The room came with a microwave and a refrigerator.
Friendly staff. Our room was very quiet, in-front parking was very convenient. The outside gallery is large enough to enjoy a quiet morning on the addirondack chairs.
Efficent A/C and flat screen TV. No morning breakfast available. The wifi wasn't always reliable, it worked fine in the morning. We will be back again when in Alberton.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We were located near the pool, lot's of noise, management did not have controls in place for all clients. Pool was close at 11pm, after we complain a few times.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely setting by the water a short distance off the Confederation bike trail. Owner kindly gave us a ride into Wellington to shorten next day's cycle.
- Hong (6/5): No wifi at night - The staff were friendly, but nobody at the property at night. We didn't have wifi that night. Besides, the room smelled badly, so I couldn't sleep well.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A few kilometers off the
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean, quiet, great value! Will definitely be my choice next time I'm on that part of the island.
- Penny (8/5): Nice cottage style hotel - beautiful countryside landscape, friendly and accomodating staff, and clean. Only minus was the bed was hard and the hot water took a long time to warm up.
