Guest Reviews
- Marlon (10/5): - Our stay at Drake Bay Resort was a truly memorable experience, filled with delightful culinary adventures and breathtaking scenery. The dining options offered were diverse and exquisite—the dinner was particularly memorable, showcasing local flavors that left a lasting impression. Breakfast each morning was equally satisfying, with fresh ingredients that perfectly complemented the beautiful surroundings.
We were thrilled with the variety of excursions available, especially the whale-watching tour and horseback riding through the stunning landscapes. These activities allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in the natural beauty of Costa Rica. The property manager was especially accommodating, providing us with everything we needed throughout our stay, including a thoughtful surprise—a delicious birthday cake to help us celebrate my birthday weekend.
I must mention that the accommodations are quite unique; our room had no television, which I found refreshing as it encouraged us to disconnect and enjoy our surroundings. However, it's important to bring your hiking boots, as reaching our room involved some hiking, which added to the sense of adventure.
The views from our room were nothing short of spectacular, overlooking both the ocean and the lush rainforest. This serene and remote retreat was exactly what my wife and I needed—a peaceful escape from our busy lives. The customer service provided by the management team was outstanding, enhancing our overall experience.
- Pilar (8/5): - We had a bad experience with the hotel's social media support and management, but the hotel itself is very beautiful. The views are spectacular, and the staff's service is excellent—they're always available when you need something. I especially want to highlight the attention and the food from the cook, Lili. I truly believe the hotel would lose its essence without her.
One thing to note: there are a lot of stairs, so you need to be in good shape to access the rooms.
- Gregory (10/5): - Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Drake Bay Getaway Lodge. Nestled high in the trees with a spectacular view of Drake Bay, we went to sleep with the sound of the pounding surf and the calls of green-eyed tree frogs and awoke every morning to the sounds of Capuchin monkeys and yellow toucans. Do yourself a favor and have dinner at the hotel as often as you can. Chef Lily is a true artiste both in terms of flavour and presentation. Her passion-fruit creme brulee might be the best dessert I’ve ever had. The entire staff takes great care to ensure an enjoyable stay. We enthusiastically recommend staying here.
- Freshta (10/5): - Incredible views of the bay and forest from the room- we saw macaws, toucans, and hummingbirds fly around our bungalow everyday. Down at the restaurant, we were also lucky to see iguanas and monkeys. The staff is amazing- Ingris, Andre, Lily, and Darlene. Everyone was so so sweet and hospitable. They take care of booking any activities you’re interested in. I recommend dining at their restaurant for dinner!
- Sarah (10/5): - Great place to stay and very unique, you will need to walk quite a lot of stairs and the roads require a 4x4 and aren’t the best in parts
- Mohammed (10/5): - Hi
This place is great lots of birds at tree level and the his and hers showers are a nice touch. It's quite a walk up to some of the rooms so bear that in mind. The hotel restaurant is good and is also close to another new restaurant on the beach. The breakfast was great and the hosts were good. One the nicer places in drake bay but also slightly expensive, I will also mention the mosquito grills on the vents did let small flies in but I was at the start of the rainy season too. All great though thank you
- Wolf (10/5): - Very low key resort with fantastic views and excellent food.
- Rick (10/5): Elegant Adventure - Drake Bay Getaway is an intimate and elegant resort offering fine dining, family-like hospitality and high end accommodations, all surrounded by jungle filled with wildlife and perched on a hill with commanding views of the Pacific. It is not a Caribbean beach and spa hotel. Rather it provides easy access to a wide range of Costa Rican nature and adventure excursions such as hiking, snorkeling and diving, fishing, wildlife observation and much more.
Yens and Patrick are wonderful hosts and personally arrange all your offsite excursions and serve all your meals and beverages. The food is exceedingly tasty and healthy. Beverages made with local ingredients are equally delicious and flow throughout the day. Beaches are available but require a bit of a hike from the resort and you won’t find any of the fine white sand so common in the Carribean. However, if you want to experience Costa Rica in depth and in style, Drake Bay Getaway Resort is the place.
- Andrew (10/5): Best Place in Drake Bay - This place is very special and the Owners/Managers, Yahn and Patrick are awesome. I would stay again. Amazing views
- Zelik (10/5): Almost Paradise - Yens and Patrick, the proprietors of Drake Bay Getaway have created a beautiful oasis that is near paradise. From their warm and generosity upon arrival to the commitment to our comfort and happiness, they were ceaselessly attentive to all our needs. The walk to and from the cabin (Bromeliad) surrounded us with spectacular beauty with lush green and the rich blue ocean surrounding us. The cabins are simple and perfect, with breathtaking views of the ocean from our terrace. A massage arranged by Yens and Patrick by Susana on our terrace was deeply rejuvenating. She has magic hands. And the meals provided by them fit the beauty and tranquility of the surroundings with their simplicity and creativity. We took a nighttime frog/bug tour in the jungle led by Armando and his wife that was exotic and wild. I give the highest recommendation for the luscious beauty and sincerest hospitality of Yens and Patrick and their establishment. The only downside is that I didn’t spend 2 weeks there instead of 2 days!
