Guest Reviews
- Rounioja (9/5): - Siistiä, sängyt mukavat. Henkilökunta mukavaa ja auttavaa. Kovin kaikuisa tila. Aamulla heräsi herkästi muiden aiheuttamiin ääniin.
- Prabodh (10/5): -
- Annika (10/5): -
- Eliisa-maria (10/5): - Mega Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis, in wenigen Minuten ist man mit dem Boot in der Innenstadt Helsinkis
- Denise (10/5): This is a must if you are looking for an incredible experience near nature and also near the centre - We liked the cozy rooms, we loved all the details made with love and how clean and beautiful it was. We also liked how warm the staff is, very attentive and friendly. The bed was also comfortable, we booked for the double bed room and it was beautiful and huge. The common room is also huge, with a tv, books and board games.
It was our first time at this hostel, just one night, but after this experience in this beautiful island, we will book more days next time (i hope sooner than later)
See you soon!! 😍 There isn’t

- Olga (10/5): Very nice hostel, would absolutely return - I very much liked the silence, it was very relaxing (but this may mainly due because I visited during low tourism season). It was very confortable, there are also many small but important commodities like books, a tv, society games, plants and posters, info about places to visit. The tap water is good to drink. The place was also well heated. Unfortunately, when using the sink in the bathroom stalls, there are some water leaks.
- Kristina (10/5): Idyllinen ja viihtyisä hostel. - Rauhallinen ja mukava hostel. Erinomainen aamiainen.Hyvä palvelu.
- Arja (10/5): -
- Unique1972 (10/5): - I liike the old building on the island. Perfect place for the weekend getaway. They have the option to order breakfast in advance, but on Booking.com they say no breakfast available.
- Johanna (10/5): - Sijainti suhteessa julkiseen liikenteeseen sekä kauppaan oli todella hyvä eli muutaman minuutin kävely. Paikka olit tosi siisti. Sänky oli todella miellyttävä. Yläkerrassa sijaitsevassa 2 hengen huoneessa oli todella kaunis ikkuna. Näin talvella majoittuessa oli todella rauhallista.
- Lauri (9/5): - -
- Marko (10/5): Traveller - Siisti ja asiallinen paikka yöpyä caikka joutuukin lautalla menemään sinne. Ilmaista kahvia tykö tarpeineen tarjolla. Käytännössä kävin nukkumassa niin en osaa oikein muuta sanoa.
- Polina (10/5): - Bardzo klimatyczne miejsce, dzieciaki są zachwycone Kołdry w łóżkach :)

- Mila (9/5): -
- Pasi (9/5): - Ainutlaatuinen miljöö, hinta ainakin talviselle yöpymiselle varsin kohtuullinen. -telkkaria ei ollut huoneessa, alhaalta salista toki löytyy-
- Roger (9/5): Unique place to stay in historic place. - It is such a privilege to stay on the beautiful islands of Suomenlinna. For the history, architecture, and natural beauty (plus getting to take the ferry from market square) ... this is by far the nicest hostel I have ever stayed at. Beautiful old school building, very clean and well maintained, great communal spaces, although I will admit that a lot of the plus side is that the 8 person room had only 1 other person 2 of the nights and I was by myself one night ... I have no idea what this place is like during tourist season! it is about as good as you can expect from a hostel.
- Helvi (10/5): Hostelliyö Suomenlinnassa - Sijainti lauttalaitrin lähellä. Selkeät ohjeet sisäänkirjautumiseen .
Kaikkialla siistiä ja informaatiota monella kielellä saatavana. Kiva keittiö molemmissa kerroksissa. WC ja suihkutilat ok.
Putipuhtaat muumilakanat.

- Maarit (9/5): Hurmaava marraskuinen viikonloppu Suomenlinnassa! - Erinomainen sijainti, hyvä palvelu. Hostelli oli rauhallinen ja rakennus huokui historiaa. Aamiainen mukava lisä kokemukseen. Itsekin olisi toki voinut aamiaista tehdä.
- Tuula (10/5): -
- Katri (10/5): - Hyvä sijainti
- PAWEŁ (10/5): -
- Immonen (9/5): - Yleiset tilat viihtyisät ja isot. Henkilökunta myös ystävällisiä. Huone oli ihan ok aika normi hostel huone. Miesten vessat oli aika pienet.
- Katlyn (8/5): Gorgeous moody little stay - Quaint, functional, warm and welcoming. We were there at the same time as a school camp. There were lots of kids doing kid things, we don’t blame them, it was loud but they got quiet at 9 and stayed that way for the night so it was all good. Bit awkward running into strange loose kids making a cup of tea or in the washroom but feels like they were there first and were having a cracking time, so alls well.

- Alan (9/5): - Great location. Nice room. Check in process was not as described. Reception wasn't open and room keys did not appear at reception until several hours after the listed 2PM.
- Mari (9/5): -
- Melinda (7/5): I would recommend - Very nice ambience and good environment. Larger bathrooms and toilets would be nice. Otherwise it's great.

- susan (10/5): - Suomenlinna is a beautiful hostel.
- Joanna (1/5): Exhausting - Good location There was no bed linen on the beds and no one there to request linen from. We did not sleep at all because of this situation.
- Virve (7/5): -
- Veera (9/5): Superb -
- Aljona (10/5): Exceptional -
- Devayani (10/5): - The best place ever. Location is fantastic. I was in the female dorm. Huge windows with beautiful curtains and wonderful views. Coffee tea on the floor. Huge place to sit (dining as well as sofas etc) and relax, read. Plenty of books. Fridge to store food. On the 1st floor kitchen with fridge.
I was at the hostel only for 1 night but I used the amenities and enjoyed the island emmensly.
Big store a few steps away with baked goods, groceries, prepared food, frozen food, fresh veggies and fruits.
- Akshay (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing location.
- Guido (10/5): One of the best hostels, we have been in - It was wonderful as always. It is one of the best things one can do to stay over night on Suomenlinna and take this hostel. -
- Tata_t (10/5): Exceptional -
- Raj (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dezhi (9/5): Superb -
- Ilari (8/5): - Mukavan hintainen ja sopivan kodikas, lähellä kaikkea oleva.
- Nina (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic lcation and welcome. Facilities all accessible and close to shops and ferry.
- Emanuele (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful hostel on the wonderful Suomenlinna island which is really magic. Very cleans rooms and common spaces.
- Angus (8/5): A comfortable hostel stay on a cool island - It was a cosy hostel on a cool island. The room was spacious and the amenities inside the kitchen/lounge area were good. It is right opposite the ferry terminal so extremely convenient if arriving in the dark especially. The bed was comfortable and it’s nice how they’ve modernised the place but kept the history and tradition of it. The bathrooms were spacious and clean. I’ve never had a place where I had to make the bed on arrival, so yes it’s only minor but I’ve never had that before. Upon arrival the window was also wide open which meant that the room was absolutely freezing when I got in, but thankfully the heating worked and warmed it up fairly quickly. Not sure why the cleaner thought to leave it open in sub-zero temperatures so that was a little frustrating. There were also no curtains in front of the window so beware in the summer especially of light coming through very early in the morning!
- Famimi (9/5): Superb - The hostel is a wonderful place in an amazing location with very nice and accommodating staff. This was my second stay there and I'll definitely be coming back in the future.
- Mary (8/5): Very good -
- Max (8/5): Very good -
- Erica (10/5): Lovely little hostel, perfect for a short trip - Simple, homely and very peaceful. The rooms were simple dorms but nice, comfortable and clean. Petra was an amazing hostess who really loved welcoming in such a warm manner- I instantly felt at home! A very minor issue with the showers being press button rather than a tap function but I guess they’re trying to be kind to the environment
- Joanna (4/5): Disappointing -
- Chin (10/5): Exceptional -
- sandra (10/5): Great place to stay. - A very old historical building(Once a russian school on a fortress)You have to get ferry there but runs very regular.Great experience.Imaculately clean.Great staff. If I had to find a negative maybe some of it looks dated. But its a very old building.I would definatley return.
- Teresa (8/5): Very good - A nice hostel on Suomelinna, which is a cool place to stay in Helsinki and the islands are easy to reach via public transport. The facilities had all one would need for a short stay in a hostel. I was there with my partner and we booked a mixed dorm because of that but they made a mistake and put us both in a women's room. Which for us it didn't matter but it might have been not great for the other women in the room if they specifically booked for a women's room. Also, we stayed in room one which got quite hot in the afternoon (which is to expect since it's the south side of an old building).
- Liliia (9/5): Superb - The best hostel in Finland! Only one thing: some dorm rooms are too hot in summer period; it was very difficult to sleep at night when room is fully booked
- Elizabeth (9/5): Superb -
- Proulx (5/5): Passable -
- The (9/5): Superb -
- Pipca (9/5): Interesting island near Helsinki city centre - The stay in my bunk bed was fine at night.
The island was tranquil, had many daily visitors, good museums, accessible many times daily on ferry boat.
- Chingchin (9/5): Superb -
- Okuliina (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful building, good facilities and great location The walls are very thin upstairs ans there is no curtains. Sleeping mask and earplugs are a must!
- Pochat (10/5): Exceptional -
- Meri (6/5): Thin walls, clean but old rooms - The location is very good, just next to the ferry and near restaurant and cafes. Breakfast was basic but value for the money and special diets were very well considered. Room was spacy and pillows and blankets were new. Pets are allowed free of charge. It was very clean everywhere. The house is not suited for accommodation. The walls are VERY thin, you can hear everything from the corridor and you are either located near the kitchen or stairs, both nosy. We did not slept well, because not all of the guests respected the quiet hours. Perhaps this could be pointed out even more clear to all guests?
The room was old and would need some painting and renovation. The check out time is very early.
You can't pay with a card and I did not get any receipt after paying. There was also a mistake with the total sum, which they did not apologized.
- Page (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kazuki (8/5): Very good -
- Klaudia (10/5): Perfect for short stay, quiet and unique place. - Comfortable, good heating, tasty tea available.
Kind staff.
Soap, towels, kitchen equipment and other things available. Showers are annoying. Little space to wash yourself if u use shower curtain, shower is switched on by pressing button, then quickly goes off. No water pressure control (always at maximum pressure).
- Merve (8/5): Very good - They forget to send me entrance information etc. unfortunately I was not able to enter building at midnight when i came for check in. I found another guest which is who open me door.
- Hermanni (9/5): Very good. With the changing of the doors would be high rate. - Atmosphere, cleanliness, staff, location, value for money. The doors to rooms could be better soundproofed. As now the soundproof is almost zero. Would give much more privacy to change the doors to thicker ones. Including also the toilet doors.
- Lola (9/5): Superb -
- Nicole (8/5): Very good -
- Jauhari (10/5): Quite and beautiful winter spot - Quietness and nord winter feeling property I think if you are extrovert, want to meet a lot of people on your stays in Helsinki, it is not your place.
- Janne (8/5): - Hieno sijainti ja ystävällinen henkilökunta
- Salimi (10/5): Peaceful, clean, good location - The staff were nice.
- Claudia (10/5): Recommended! - Very quiet (at least when we visited) and clean place. On the island of Suomenlinna, just a 13 minutes ride from Helsinki city centre.
Good facilities, a really comfortable place to go back to after a long day walking.
Communal spaces also fun and well looked after.
Really recommended Squeeky bunk beds
- Tatiana (9/5): Superb -
- Ravo (8/5): - Edullinen
- Gonçalo (9/5): Superb -
- Isabel (7/5): Good - Reception opening hours are very limited. So I didn't check in and just picked up the keys at the indicated location. For check-out, the reception was also closed and I just left the keys in the same place. Then the property listed my stay as a no-show on booking.com.
- Kristo (9/5): The place has a good spirit of taking care of people staying there and that can felt and is nice. - Very atmospheric place to stay. Quiet surroundings, yet quite near to the center with a 15-minute ride with a small ferry. The ferry goes every 20 minutes during daytime, less often in weekends and during evenings but still every hour. The place has high ceilings and built with quality materials. Visitors can use kitchen with fridge, kettle, tea and coffee. I think the doors could have had better sound insulation. It was not problem as other visitors were quite but I could still hear the early-birds talking quietly in the kitchen. It can be problem if somebody is loud. Nevertheless the walls itself were solid and soundproof and I couldn´t hear people from other rooms. The showers could have had some curtain. I hung my clothes to the hangers but they got a little water from showering. But I definitely would go back.
- Thais (9/5): Superb - Cleanness Guests after 11 making noice
- Daniilosaka (9/5): Great Suomenlinna Experience - The best thing about this hostel is it's location on Suomenlinna. If you want to take an amazing evening ferry to see the sunset over Helsinki and then take a morning walk and look at the endless sea horizon, then I strongly recommend to stay overnight in this hostel.
The hostel has quite big common space where you can eat your food or just relax after a long day with some coffee or tea (for free). Well, it's a hostel anyway and you never know who your neighbours will be. Unfortunately, I was a bit unlucky and there was a person who snored very loud during the whole night. I think that person was the only one who was sleeping in our room😅 So for future travelers, I strongly recommend taking ear plugs and a sleeping mask (or the hostel maybe could provide that in the future).
The hostel maybe could also consider installing bigger refrigerators in the future because I barely had any space to store my food.
Otherwise, everything was good. Thank you:)
- Steven (7/5): Good -
- Mark (9/5): Something Different in Helsinki - Great location on an interesting island. Loved the place! Nothing really, but the choice of restaurants is limited and expensive. Good local supermarket for all your cooking and drinking needs.
- Paddy (9/5): Superb - A perfect hostel experience. Interesting building and location. Clean room, easy check in.
- Sanna (8/5): Uniikki kokemus - Uniikki kokemus ainutlaatuisessa ympäristössä. Kiva paikka, siisti huone ja perus buffet aamiainen.
- Jesse (10/5): Top hostel - - Room was spacious and clean, had big locker
- friendly staff
- clean and well-maintained hostel
- Vytautas (10/5): Exceptional - Great place to stay if you want to overnight in the island Room Doors are self-locking, so you have tonbe cautious when going to the bathroom and take the key with you
