Guest Reviews
- Antony (10/5): Short stay - Great venue, excellent food and friendly staff. Highly recommend.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Pleasant room above a pub. Bed and shower were good but the walls were so thin I could hear conversations in adjacent rooms. People were friendly and breakfast was excellent.
- Celina (8/5): - The accommodation was spacious and rooms were clean and comfortable.
The accommodation had a pub with meals available. Breakfast was provided with our stay.
- SJ (2/5): Never again - Where to start! There was limited parking, no food on, the place was tired and unclean. We had booked & paid for 3 rooms but were only given keys for 2 rooms. Our Spanish visitors were too stunned to question why they had to share a room. When asked where they might get dinner they were directed to Tescos!
- S (8/5): - The Hollies is a nice village pub on the roadside. There is limited off street parking.
Staff are very friendly and helpful, bar area has TV's showing (mostly) football. Bar is traditional and the menu is basic pub food but done well and plenty of it at a reasonable price. Our room was absolutely fine if not a bit dated but comfortable with lots of tea and coffee, biscuits and complimentary toiletries. Bathroom was a but tired but fully functional. We booked breakfast and got served a massive full English, no options! Fine for me but my wife would probably have had an egg on toast given the opportunity, so I had to eat most of her breakfast too! Good value for money and I'd stay again.
- Eric (8/5): - Ideally located for event I was attending, on quiet road. Rooms located above noisy pub, but it did close at approx 11pm.
- Justin (4/5): - Friendly staff and helpful. Breakfast was poor and £12.50 was overpriced for poor quality ingredients and very strange green topping on all ingredients.
- Christopher (10/5): - I made a last minute booking and didn't arrive until midnight. My room was absolutely lovely. Super comfortable bed. Breakfast was fantastic. I really cant recommend highly enough.
- Paul (8/5): - Good standard pub accomodation in Westbury Leigh
- Martin (10/5): quirky well presented would give 41/2 out of 5 - would give 4 1/2 stars, room was comfortable, lean and well presented. drop 1/2 a mark as tile loose in bathroom floor and no where to put shampoo bottles inside shower. had to drop on floor. otherwise lovely stay breakfast was excellent but no pastries left when we were in breakfast room.
- Nicola (10/5): - Great place to stay
- M J (8/5): Mj - Very good for the price would stay again
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely pub with great beer and food. - Lovely pub with great beer and food.
My room was comfortable and quiet. It was a very hot night so I quickly removed the 13.5 tog! duvet from the cover but I had a good night’s sleep.
- Greg (10/5): Large room with everything you need - Large room with all the facilities you need, iron, fridge, microwave, kettle, tv, etc. Comfy sofa and plenty of wardrobe space. The mattress wasn't to my preference but my wife found it comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Quirky in a great way - Great little location, quirky room with two bedrooms, and low beams, creaky floors and higgledypiggeldy layout all of which was a joy! Much better than the generic box rooms you get given at chain hotels. It was all well equiped and well functioning. Double bed not the comfiest I’ve slept on - a relatively thin mattress. All the same, it was warm, cosy, and perfect for what I needed this weekend. Friendly staff and a nice relaxed atmosphere. Full English breakfast was sensational. Thank you.
- Robert (8/5): - A pleasant stay. Comfortable bed. Hardly haute cuisine but just honest, well cooked good food. Staff were helpful & friendly. If we need to stay in the area again, we'd be very happy to return to The Hollies Inn.
- Lesley (10/5): Good choice! - This was a good choice for us as it was close to our ultimate destination. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Definitely would stay again.
- Lauren (10/5): Lovely comfortable stay - Really lovely stay. Clean and spacious room, with separate room for our 11 year old joined on. Good facilities and a lovely breakfast.
- Sharon (10/5): - Ideal for our overnight stay . Staff are all friendly and helpful. We had breakfast this morning which was delicious and worth the money . Would recommend this inn . Lovely and cosy
- Neville (8/5): - Staff friendly and welcoming price good
- Carmen (10/5): Good stay - Good room, pleasantly surprised as it was larger than advertised. Everything was smooth.
- Mark (6/5): All in all an ok stay thanks.. - Bathroom bulbs not working on arrival, host soon sorted once we told him.
Evening food ok, pizza 🍕 oven playing up so delay in service.
We were aware of stairs having read previous reviews, they were dooable as had sturdy bannister rail as my wife has both knees and hips replaced.
Good selection of ZERO alcohol beers too.
Good breakfast, slightly overfaced.
All in all an ok stay thanks..
- Caroline (10/5): - We stayed here because I wanted to go to longleat to see my favourites the Giraffe's, It was a lovely welcome, food was excellent and the staff looked after you so well, would definately recommend staying at this property
- Christopher (10/5): - Old pub but well kept. The service was very good and the breakfast was excellent. Due to personal problems too many stairs, but acceptable for my needs
- Nick (6/5): Functional for an overnight work stay - The room is ok, bed is uncomfortable and mattress needs updating , whole room in need of an update. Was functional firework but wouldn’t want longer than a one night stay. Long hair left in the soap dish on the showerhead somewhat off putting . Shower pressure struggles a bit . WiFi was decent , service and check in was good.
- Bernardine (8/5): - Very big room.
- Jannette (8/5): - The Hollies is a lovely place to stay. The hospitality is fantastic. The only thing is it's an old building so it's a bit creaky and because the rooms are over a pub expect noise. I would stay there again
- Benjamin (8/5): Perfect for one night - This was for after a wedding locally. The room was a suite and one that featured two bedrooms and a bathroom.
Unfortunately the mattress was not easy to sleep on.
The check in was convenient at the late time of night.
No other amenities used.
- Kelly (10/5): - The staff and locals were so welcoming in the pub. My children (and I) absolutely loved the accommodation and easy access to local amenities. The children begged me to book an extra night which along with locals recommendations to visit Wookey Hole we did. We are already planning a return visit for next year :)
- Ye (8/5): - This is a good experience living in a country inn.
- Manny (2/5): - The window in the room was full of black mode. I can send you a picture.
- Michael (10/5): - I spent two nights at the Hollies in early August. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The food (dinner and full English breakfast) were excellent (although no food is served on Tuesday evening, but there are nearby options available). London Pride on draft.
The pub itself does not open until 5, but you can check in after 3 PM. Room 4 was very spacious with a surprisingly large bathroom.
The pub is just over a mile from central Westbury, and Warminster is close by. It is less than an hour's drive to get further afield to Cheddar, Wells and Glastonbury.
A huge shout out and thanks to "Charlie", one of the managers, who noticed I had a flat tyre and changed the spare for me. "Thank you"!
- Colin (6/5): - A quaint and quirky building but the beds are in desperate need of an overhaul. The mattresses were uncomfortable and the bed squeaked and moved whenever you turned over.
Also the web site needs to make it clear food is not served Mondays and Tuesday as I could have made other arrangements before I arrived.
- Paula (10/5): - Great one night stay in a location perfect for catching up with family living in Warminster. Very spacious room with good facilities. Comfy bed.
The staff are friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
- Peter (10/5): - My room (1) was unfortunately above the bar and so I could here a bit if chatter. This however stopped early enough not to affect my sleep. That is my only grumble. Room was clean and well supplied, including a microwave in the room!
- Anne (6/5): - Place of last resort.
Friend who lives locally was unwell and I didn't want to impose on her.
Staff lovely.
Building aged and entertaining uneven floors bit of slope even in the room. Not a problem.
No one on site mobile phone number of owner if a problem. No locked doors between outside and my room door. Bit unnerving as lone female.
Main concern was the mould on windows. In winter woild have been a health hazard.
Dirty and lime scaled shower.
Dust and clothing on top of wardrobe easily seen as climb down step from bathroom.
Bed creaking but beautifully clean sheets and pillow cases. Place of last resort to stay but friends say good pub and restrauant.
- Susan (10/5): Great little B&B and pub. - We had a lovely one night stay at The Hollies whilst visiting family. The staff were very friendly and helpful and both our rooms were a good size, very clean and had everything you would need. This isn't The Ritz and I knew that when I booked, but I was very pleasantly surprised as to how good it was and therefore, great value for money.
- Geoffrey (6/5): - We stayed on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings only. These turned out to be the days the restaurant was closed so we drove to the next village on these evenings.
In one room there was toothpaste, or something similar all over the cold water tap.
A lot of steep stairs, which makes it difficult with small children or elderly relatives.
- Susan (10/5): Good value - Friendly welcome. Room tired but comfortable and good for price.
Bar and restaurant friendly and food nice.
- Anne (10/5): - Highly recommended! Staff super friendly and helpful, great food especially breakfast.
Bed slats needed fixing and TV channels were very limited, but these were just niggles in what was a very pleasant weekend stay.
- Ian A (10/5): Very Comfortable Place to Stay - I stay here regularly and always find the room comfortable and staff friendly and helpful. Highly recommended for any stays near Westbury
- Kenneth (8/5): - Lots of character, plenty of parking space
- Martin (10/5): - Lovely and friendly.
Easy to park.
Great value.
Fantastic breakfast.
- C (10/5): Fantastic - We had a lovely stay at The Hollies Inn. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. We decided to dine there in the evening and all four meals were excellent, generous portions and well cooked. We also had the cooked breakfast which were also superb. It was also a good location to travel to Longleat which was our reason for staying.
- Mr Richard Evans (8/5): thumbs up! - Staff were excellent and very attentive. Food was delicious. Accommodation was quirky but well equipped. Decor was a little dated but in character with the place…
- GLEN (8/5): - The staff were great and could not be more helpful. I had a late check in and they more than assisted if this time should fall into the very early hours.
Attention to detail is lacking in the rooms to be fair.
They are in need of an upgrade soonest.
Mould around the windows is there and I had raw black water flowing into the shower.
This was reported and staff cleaned it up. That said there is a clear issue with the waste water drainage system that would not be appreciated by paying guests.
Clearly you can’t fix what guests will not tell you about.
Hotel is in a great location for my stay.
The devil is in the detail regarding hospitality.
In summary, the rooms just need bringing into the 21st century.
- Heather (8/5): - Food great, areas easily accessible all great!
- Derek (10/5): - It suits us for a one night working stop. Quieter than Travlodge nearby, great breakfast, really good bacon.
- robert (10/5): - Everything was ok - no complaints about anything
- Diana (8/5): Overnight stay on visit to Longleat - We stayed at the Hollies Inn as part of a couple of days to be with our daughter who was staying at Center Parcs for a 4 day break.
We wanted to be close as we were booked as Day visitor's to the parc for 1 day and Longleat for the next day.
Very easy commute between the Hollies and our daughter. We didn't book for breakfast, as we weren't sure what time we were going to meet up, but eventually decided to breakfast out in Warminster. There is a lot more to do there than in Westbury, including a lovely little bakery where we bought some doughnuts for breakfast, and 2 main chain coffee shops to choose from.
- David (10/5): WE would recommend staying there - We arrived early but was greeted by a member of staff. She let us in and allowed us to register. We were made very welcome and taken to our room. Throughout our stay all the staff were so helpful. In fact we cannot praise them enough. Kirsten looked after us and was a real pleasure to be with. Many thanks from us both. David and Sue.
- robert (10/5): - Close to my customer, close to the town and convenient. The staff were very friendly.
- J (4/5): Disappointing - This place has been given a AA5Star rating. We cannot agree.Serious issues with the bedroom and bathroom. Please see photos.
- Dario (8/5): - The shower door had loose so I had to fix with screwdriver
- Amy (8/5): - Lovely and homey place to stay with nice staff, but could do with some tlc. Would definitely stay again though!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Had a lovely 3 night stay at The Hollies, Clean large room with new double bed. Ceiling had been replastered and radiators had been left on. We were not told this and only turned off one the first night so we were too warm. Staff were helpful but breakfast was continental and Full English with everything, not given chance to remove items. Coffee machine was not working properly for three days we were there. Evening meal choices were limited as 3/7 (approximately) were off each night. What we ate was nicely cooked. No real ale on draught till Saturday so made do with bottled real ale. We would stay again
- Rosemary (10/5): A very enjoyable stay at The Hollies! - A very pleasant stay at The Hollies. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly, and there were nice areas for sitting outside in both dry and wet weather. Lots of facilities like an iron, board, hairdryer etc were provided in the room, even a fan for hot weather, but unfortunately we felt that was too noisy to use overnight for the sake of the other guests! We weren’t in at the times the restaurant was open, but the menu looked excellent. The dining room was very pleasant, and breakfast was lovely, with a great selection of items (e.g. pastries, yogurts, toast, juices, tea, coffee etc) to help yourself from while waiting for the freshly cooked full English to arrive. We would be very happy to stay there again!
- Mandy (10/5): - Very good
- Paul (8/5): Longleat stayover - Nice little pub. Stayed ahead of longleat visit and less than 5 miles away. Able to add breakfast on arrival for following day. Overall good place
- Peter (10/5): - A lovely and great place to stay, we had a very lovely time on our three nights stay.
All the Staff are so helpful and go the extra mile.
Great breakfast and evening meals too.
We are looking forward to starting there again very soon.
Thank you all for looking after as.
Mr & Mrs Parker.
- David (10/5): Great Stay, would highly recommend - Very friendly and accommodating staff, food was lovely ! Room was very spacious and clean and had all the necessary facilities, and a nice big TV! Only criticism would be the interesting noise made when using the water in the bathroom, and the loose plaster on the ceiling in our room. However these things seemed so little as we had a lovely time. Thankyou, would highly recommend.
- Emely (10/5): recommended - friendly staff, easy access , clean and comfortable to stay
- Chris (6/5): Not sure where the 8.4 comes from? - Cannot fault the staff - really friendly and accommodating.
The room was large and clean.
Large part of the ceiling plaster had broken away which did not leave a good impression.
Windows were single glazed and so the room was very cold, and you can hear everything going on outside.
Curtains were paper thin, so pretty light due to all the street lights outside.
Macerator in the toilet scared me half to death when I flushed the toilet, and must have done so to the occupants of the room next door.
Shower connects to the macerator pump meaning it fires off every 15 seconds or so. I can only guess how my neighbours felt about me showering at 6am.
Floors are uneven and incredibly squeaky. Would make a Japanese Emperor proud.
- Eifion (8/5): - Friendly staff, very comfortable,
- Verified traveler (6/5): One night is enough. - The check in was easy but disappointing to learn that you needed to order breakfast the night before. We wanted to see how we felt in the morning but this isn’t an option so had to find other breakfast arrangements.
Food was nice, good portions but lack of allergen information isn’t great. Having to trust people’s word on what things contained isnt a great way to handle things. Most people provide a folder with all ingredients.
Room was ok overall, shower could have been cleaner and unfortunately we couldn’t use the drinks facilities as the kettle was badly scaled and we gave up trying to rinse out. We headed down to speak to someone but no one was on site at that time (6:30am) so again just left early to seek other arrangements.
- STEPHEN (10/5): - room was large, clean and warm. nice ensuite. staff friendly. Downside was the noise from the bar, making it difficult to sleep. it was ok when the bar closed.
- Kevin (4/5): - When you have four empty rooms and one of them has a large section of plaster missing from the ceiling, why would you show your only guests to the room with the defective ceiling?
- Paul (8/5): Good overnighter in Westbury - Great pub atmosphere, staff fabulous and welcoming. Good quiet location. Only downside was the bed - needs updating
- Verified traveler (8/5): Perfect for a night stay before Longleat - Easy check in pub doesn’t open till 3pm, so couldn’t check in till then. Small menu, but lovely breakfast. Staff were very friendly and were happy to help.
The bar shut at 11 at night so could hear music till then.
Went for a walk to the local town centre where you could buy food if you wanted something small.
- Paul (2/5): Stay away - Other than the on site parking this hotel was nothing more than disgraceful
Upon arrival I was informed there was no kitchen and baring in mind I arrived at 5pm
The place is in the middle of no where with very limited places to eat otherwise,
All I can say about this is overpriced garbage, the WiFi did not work, with poor network coverage in the area also.
Cleanliness was also an issue with mole present in near enough every corner of the room, mainly the bathroom (I stayed in room
2). Will not be staying again was very disappointed!!
- Johanna (10/5): - Fantastic service and very friendly family pub. Food was great and breakfast was lovy. Great location for longleat.
- paul (10/5): Great place - Great place to stay great hosts
- David (10/5): - The building looked very old from outside but the room was well renovated from inside. The bathroom was new and everything was clean and nice.
- Theresa (10/5): Friendly Staff - A lovely stay. There were 3 of us in the family room. Loved the fact there was a fridge microwave and toaster along with the normal kettle bits and bobs. Staff were very friendly and the breakfast was amazing. Will definitely stay again.
- James (10/5): Short break - Stayed for 2 nights, room was excellent, airy, clean with comfortable facilities. Would stay again.
- Simon (10/5): - Its was great we were away for a tournament and it was exactly what we needed food was great, accommodation was good and they have a ev charger on site.
- Trevor (6/5): - Nothing. And didn't seem interested in accommodating needs accommodation
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Easy check in and out, friendly staff.
- Lorna (8/5): Lovely hotel - definitely recommend. - The service at the Hollies Inn was fantastic, the staff are all super lovely and friendly -they very kindly had our room ready an hour earlier than the normal check in time as we were off to a wedding so we had time to change and finish getting ready without rushing or ending up being late.
The room was in need of a bit of repair; there was a large crack in the ceiling and an iron shaped burn on the carpet, but it was clean and tidy and well stocked with the usual kettle/tea/biscuits etc.
The only issues we experienced with the room were that the bathroom mirror was a little bit high, we’re 5”5 and 5”6 and could only use it it we stood on tiptoes! -but as there was a mirror in the bedroom too, this was a minor issue. However, the bigger issue was that there is a street light outside that is close to the bay windows so the room was very light/bright throughout the night which made it harder to sleep -my partner can normally sleep through anything but even he struggled with how bright it was.
The full English breakfast was delicious with the thickest bacon I’ve ever seen, perfect runny fried eggs and lots of toast on the side! Great selection of cereals, yoghurts, juices and pastrys too.
On the whole, we enjoyed our stay and will definitely recommend the Hollies Inn, but I suggest taking a sleep mask if light at night bothers you.
- Andrew (8/5): A brief stop in Westbury - Easy check in and decent meal off the main menu. No real Ales available but San Miguel was good.
Unfortunately we found the bed very hard and not to our liking, and wife is still suffering two days later.
- Cheryl (8/5): Very Spacious room - Cosy room, lots of space although floors sloped. Comfy bed.
- A (10/5): - Greeted by receptionist wonderful welcome , Took us to our room which was absolutely fantastic the whole place is Excellent
- Adam (8/5): Nice country pub. - Nice country pub. Room was larger than expected and had two bedrooms and a microwave. Not as fancy as hotels but suited our needs. The staff in the pub were great and helped my kids have a lovely time by bringing them a game of Jenga to play as well.
Only thing I would say is that the door frame to the room is very low, so mind your head!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable stay - We had a comfortable stay. A couple of facility issues that did not impact on our stay.
Really close to Longleat.
Noise from the pub garden, but it went quiet quickly.
- Ray (8/5): A one night stay. We'll done Hollies Inn. - The Hollies Inn was an old Inn but was comfortable and clean, a great shower and our evening meal was large and reasonably priced. My family enjoyed the hospitality of the staff also.
- Clare (8/5): Great Food - Stayed for a night after visiting Longleat. 10 mins drive away and free on site parking. Rooms were upstairs away from the main pub. Nice size and en suite. We had rooms next to each other which was ideal. Chose to eat at the hotel and very glad we did. Vegetarian options were lovely and none veggie equally as good. Best meals we had on our road trips.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a beautiful room with plenty of space. The staff were very friendly and knowledgable about the area. Being in Westbury we were central to a lot of places. Longleat, Cheddar gorge etc. Even though the rooms are above the bar we didn’t hear any noise and were able to settle quickly. We loved it here and will be returning.
- Donald (8/5): - Was good.
Bit expensive considering there was no breakfast, however they said that was due to Covid.
Seeing that there is seating outside, I could have just eaten it there.
- G (6/5): - No food available as it was a Monday night and no breakfast available.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Small room small bed but that was ok for a budget room just the one night
Very large crack across window pane
Room was clean but shower was very mouldy especially bottom of doors-easy to fix with a bit of elbow grease .Bathroom ceiling also had mould prob because Extractor fan didn’t work . Wouldn’t stay again
- Carl (8/5): Worth a visit - Visited local attraction and chose to stay at ‘The Hollies’ which was a lovely little pub with a nice food menu and good choice of drinks with friendly staff
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We were very disappointed with this hotel. The picture does not reflect the reality. No food available. The room was disappointing. There was a sour smell. The bathroom sink had a very large crack in it. The carpet had an iron burn. There was no one available when we arrived although there was an apology because of the "school run". The windows were dirty and one had black mould round it and was cracked in one corner. Altogether unsatisfactory from our point of view and we are sorry to have to give such a negative feedback.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Quaint little country pub
- Verified traveler (4/5): - You are staying above a bar. So very noisy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely place , very accommodating & helpful people
- Kiera (10/5): Cannot fault The Hollies Inn! - The room was absolutely flawless; spacious layout, comfy bed and lovely shower room! Couldn’t fault the service either! At such a reasonable price too! 100% would happily stay here again.
- Jane (10/5): good place to stay - Lovely stay, great barman, food excellent. Room very spacious, clean and had everything needed.
- Gaynor (10/5): - Great
- Jamie (10/5): Top over - Very friendly staff
- Jane (10/5): - Thanks to very friendly staff. Rooms are both very clean and in good sizes at quiet location. Beds are comfortable so as the sofa. Fantastic value. Will be happy to reuse it again. Highly recommended.
