Guest Reviews
- Tiffani (10/5): - Very peaceful environment with no pressure to do anything or be anywhere. Local shops were a drive away.
The owners were so friendly and helpful when we showed up from our disaster travels. They helped us get food and to finally get our rental car…a must for travel. So thankful to them.
- Janice (8/5): - Staff/owners were great and very accommodating. However beds need replacing (very uncomfortable in room 5) and bathrooms need some repair ie difficult to get water working in shower and light over sink not working. Tub also unavailable for use. That being said, enjoyed our visit. Breakfast was superb!
- Dany (10/5): 👍👍👍 - Beautiful place
Very large room
Many choices for breakfast
Place quiet
- Aaron (10/5): - Great place,
- Jay (10/5): - A beautiful property very nicely decorated. Staff were very friendly
- Erin (10/5): - The owner was gracious and the house was gorgeous.
- Katherine (8/5): - Lovely secluded spot. Shower looked amazing but could not figure out how to make the temperature of water acceptable. Great breakfast.
- Peter (10/5): - Enjoyed stay.Breakfast very good
- John (10/5): - We arrived later than expected but were still accommodated.
- Steve (10/5): - Loved area and quiet surroundings.
- Keri (10/5): - What an amazing home to stay in. The owners were very kind and the room was perfect
- Donna (10/5): - Stayed 2 nights on our recent visit. B&B is beautiful. Rooms clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly. Breakfast was delicious with nice variety. The place is a bit remote and accessible via tiny back roads. Watch out that map apps may have to go off the main road many km earlier than necessary. Walk around the property was very pleasant. Would recommend.
- Shobha (10/5): - Beautiful property. Great breakfast. Tasty with lots of choices. Host was amazing.
- Amanda (10/5): - Excellent place to stay. Very comfortable, quiet. Staff were exceptional
- Jerry (10/5): - Property and staff unbelievable. Great experience, terrible weather and staff made us feel like family. Love it
- Trevor (10/5): - Lovely place to stay
Great breakfast
- Patrick (10/5): - Beautiful house and a friendly hostess.
- Diane (10/5): - Beautiful B & B …owners are wonderful and very hospitable…breakfast was excellent and the Lounge was a great place to sit, relax, and have a whiskey or two 😉 would definitely stay there again
- Trish (10/5): - The entire staff was incredibly kind and accommodating! The room was clean and well kept! We enjoyed our short stay!
- Fiona M (6/5): Somewhat disappointing - Overall, the place was good, but a bit shabby. Paper was peeling in the bathroom, the lights flickered and the towel rack fell apart. We could not get hot water in the afternoon, and had lukewarm showers in the morning. WiFi and phone coverage were terrible.
- hilda (10/5): - Gorgeous place in a lovely area staff are very polite and attentive
The breakfast was also excellent
Highly recommended
- Karl (10/5): - Huge rooms, good breakfast and a fabulous games room/bar to chill. It was great to help yourself from the bar (honesty box), read old newspapers from 50 years ago, and play snooker and other games. Full of character and really friendly host. Would highly recommend and even though it's a little off the beaten track it's only 30 mins to the centre of Cork.
- Traci (6/5): Dissapointed - We were very excited to stay at The Cannaway house as the photos and write up were beautiful. I love staying at BnBs over hotels usually, but we were left a bit disappointed on this trip with BnBs for several reasons.
1. We chose Hotels.com as we can choose to pay ahead or oay at the properrty. We chose to oay at the property with my husbands "Vacation " credit card. With busy lives I did the bookings and plannings and he did the paying..... however the BnB. charged the credit card on file 36 hrs before check in. I even sent a message stating we would be using a different credit card. The host was pleasant enough and explained she couldn't switch it. It was the second time this happened to us with hotels.com while on this trip, however the other BnB was able to cancel and charge the correct card.
2. No Air Conditioner, it was so humid! and the windows would inky open and inch.
3. The carpet was not vacuumed and the bathroom shower had black mold all on the outside. I almost wanted to leave! But it was already late.
We did have a nice breakfast.
No one to check us out
- MICAH (10/5): - What a wonderful property! We highly recommend a stay here.
- Derryn (8/5): - Very nice place, thank you !!
- Philip (10/5): - Hosts Francis and Jacqui were excellent, they provided a good rundown of the area and what it offered. Rooms were spacious and amenities good.
Being located on a fair size estate which provided walking space after drive without traffic hassles
- Sally (10/5): Beautiful rural setting - Great location near to Cork airport. Beautiful rural setting and a very nice traditional old property. The snooker table was great too!!
- Martin (10/5): - Beautiful 18th century farmhouse. Restored by the current owner sound 16 years ago. Friendly welcome and hearty breakfast. Beautiful views across open rolling countryside. Easy access to west cork. Recommended
- Marie (10/5): - Lovely environment
Warm welcome
Comfortable for 2 adults and 2 teenagers
- Cathy (8/5): - Loved the property, the hosts and breakfast was plentiful and delicious. When we checked in, we were told that the spa tub in the room was not operational. I didn't mind as it was too large, and I prefer a quick shower anyway. The problem happened when I got in the shower and got scalded by the hot water. There was no cold water to temper it with, so we wound up washing off in the sink.
- Kenneth (10/5): - Lovely rural B&B! Beautiful farm scenery. Jackie and Frank were wonderful hosts. Rooms were nice, warm homemade breakfast, very homey! We loved our stay.
- michael (10/5): - Grounds very quiet and peaceful. I enjoyed looking out my bedroom window at the horses. The room was bigger than I expected. The breakfast gave you choices and was very good.
- Jacques (10/5): - This place is isolated, charming and very quiet. The room and bathroom are huge with high ceilings. The bed is a bit small for two and the TV minuscule. The breakfast however is a huge plus.
- Malva (8/5): - Charming home out in the country. The hosts were very welcoming and gracious despite our last-minute reservation and arrival later than their usual check-ins. We were given a triple room (double twin) which included a bathroom with enormous jetted tub and separate huge jetted shower. We used only the usual shower, but it sure looked luxurious. Delicious hot breakfast.
Note that this property is not near anything else. You need a vehicle and will drive through lovely winding roads. You need to eat dinner elsewhere. We had a nice meal in Macroom at Granville’s Bar & Grill.
- Timothy (10/5): - Jackie was a very personable host. The accommodations were fabulous- room was large and beds were comfortable.
And the house is absolutely splendid.
- Minhong (10/5): - Very nice B&B in the country. Nice host and awesome breakfast. Some of the hardwares like toilets, faucet, mattress could use some upgrades but I also understand that the host may not want to overdo it to keep the vibe. Anyhow, recommended!
- Selestine (10/5): Outstanding stay! - Amazing stay! We would 100% recommend, the host was very nice and the rooms were very clean. The stay wasnt too far from cork city either.
- Sandy (10/5): - Very nice hosts and delicious food!
- Harry W (10/5): - What a lovely home in an equally lovely setting. The hosts are so nice and we enjoyed our delicious homemade breakfast. Highly recommend
- Mark (10/5): - Nice quiet property in the countryside. Nice rooms and excellent host with great breakfast options.
- Rich (10/5): - Nice quiet setting in the Irish countryside. Breakfast was delicious and the staff was kind and accommodating. A bit removed from the mainstream, but that's exactly what we were looking for. Highly recommend!
- Kevin (10/5): - Country manor house at its best. Clean, quiet and nicely furnished. I’d stay here a week if I had the time.
- George (10/5): Amazing Irish Country Home - We had a wonderful time here. The house is beautiful and our room was spacious. I was hot and the hosts were kind enough to find a fan. Jackie, our host, was so friendly and charming. We Loved the bar (which operates on an honor system) and is so charming. We met the horses and their three dogs. Breakfast was wonderful. I Highly recommend staying here!!
- Prindle (8/5): - This is a beautiful restored country property, with magnificent views and easy access to the town of Macroom. The breakfast was delicious, but coffee and tea service was available in the upstairs hallway as well as in each room. Additionally, there is an informal family area with a pool table, bar, and games.
Improvements would include better beds and better lighting in the bathroom. Great value, all in all.
- Martin (10/5): Beautiful Home, welcoming owners - Wonderful home. Fantastic hospitality.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent friendly comfortable home - Excellent friendly comfortable. 10/10 lovely hosts, nice tea and coffee. Wonderful beds.
- Jeffrey (10/5): - A very nice place.
- Joe (10/5): Trip to Southern Ireland - This was a surprisingly nice B&B outside Cork. A little out of the way but great signage made it easy to locate. Welcoming staff, beautiful room and great breakfast! The bed was not the most comfortable, but we slept well. The surrounding area was gorgeous!
- Kirsten (8/5): - Old manor and spacious home. Great breakfast. Good value in lovely countryside
- John (10/5): - Wonderful Manor House... you feel like you are a wealthy Lord. Jackie was very hospitable. Zara was a lovely Irish angel and a great help to her dad. Enjoyed our stay.
- Joseph Victor (10/5): - Very nice B&B. The management was very welcoming and the big house is beautiful!
- Kristie (2/5): - We were put in the gate house which is not part of the main house as advertised. It is dirty, run down, no breakfast, freezing cold, old/worn out mattresses, etc. There is no mention of the property being reserved as different than all the pictures provided. Definitely not a 4 star property.
- Kevin (10/5): - Beautiful setting! Definitely off the beaten path, quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed the bonus room with a wood stove and comfortable seating! Breakfast is made to order, wonderful hospitality!
- Sherry (10/5): - Beautiful home, very clean and hospitable proprietor!
- Patricia (10/5): - The experience was very nice, beautiful home and property and hosts were lovely. Negatives mainly was it was far out to Cork, no lift in house and bedrooms were 2 flights up and shower needed work. Hosts were very accommodating carrying bags upstairs
- John (10/5): - Terrific stay . Top class
- Charlotte (10/5): Great relaxing stay - A lovely welcome on arrival, large room & bathroom, very clean & lovely cooked breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A beautiful peaceful property, nothing too much, amazing amenities - with a wonderful onsite “pub” and snooker table! Bed very comfortable!
We had room 2- double- excellent size and room 4- triple room- again excellent size.
Missed restaurants in near town so got own food to take back- kindly helped with plates cutlery and then tidied up after us… very much appreciated - was really nothing too much trouble!
Loved meeting the family dogs too.
Thanks all
Lambert family
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay, would stay again - Everything was fantastic!
- Bali&Mark (10/5): - The house was beautiful. Excellent hosts, welcomed us like family. Best place we've ever stayed. Loved the location, very peaceful, home had a warm welcome feeling. Would visit again for a longer period.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The rooms and gardens were of a high standard. The views were spectacular from our room.
- Susan (10/5): Happy traveler - A beautiful B & B run by a beautiful family.
Just very sorry that we couldn’t stay longer.
- Karen (10/5): Lovely and quiet. - We were welcomed warmly at arrival and shown directly to our room. We had 3 adults and had a lovely, spacious room with a large jacuzzi tub. The property was large and well cared for. We would highly recommend this B&B.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Property was exquisite, hosts were very friendly. House is a little bit out of town so no restaurants within walking distance.
- John (10/5): Best Hotel in Ireland - It was perfect. So familiar and friendly...
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful location. Period property. Jacky very helpful. Rooms spacious. Great breakfast, particularly enjoyed the porridge!
- Galina (10/5): - A beautiful house in and out. Room is very clean and comfortable. A great experience to feel the life in Ireland.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The supreme charm and character of the building and its vast surroundings make this a surprisingly pleasant staycation - superior to most hotels .
- Claudia (10/5): Cannaway house is fantastic! - The Cannaway house was amazing! Such a cute place to stay! We absolutely loved it, the rooms were wonderful, the family was wonderful & my husband enjoyed pouring his own pint of Guinness!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Only spent 1 night here would like to have had another night. Hopefully will do at another time.
- Craig (8/5): Decent B&B - Nice old Manor house in a lovely rural setting. Sarah the hostess was friendly and helpful. The room was good rather than great. The bathroom has a large spa but the shower over the spa isn't great. Breakfast was fair.
- Maureen (10/5): - Simply beautiful inside and out! The owners Jackie and Frances couldn't have been any nicer. The rooms and home were pristine. The game room was a great bonus! The breakfast was outstanding. The property and country side views are picture perfect!
- Hannorah (10/5): Hannorah, Maria and Amelia - Cannaway House Landlady and staff were so welcoming, they couldn’t do enough for you.
The house has been lovingly restored and the decor was great!
Surrounding landscape is beautiful plus it’s a great base-location for seeing the rest of Cork.
Rooms were spacious and clean with good facilities overall.
Breakfast was very good - Full Irish was spot-on and the pancakes were a scrummy!
- Verified traveler (10/5): WOW what a grand old house - Jackie the owner & host was very inviting.
The house has been beautifully restored & very comfortable. A little awkward to find with the GPS, we would highly recommend a stay here.
- Fiona (4/5): Very disappointing. - Unfortunately we were very disappointed, this hotel was rated exceptional, which was why we booked it, but find it hard to see why.
It is very remote, although not a problem for us it does mean you have to drive 20 mins to find anything to eat. Our welcome and check in was fine and the house and gardens are lovely. Our room, number 6, was on the ground floor. The small double bed has to be the noisiest, creakiest, most uncomfortable bed we have ever tried to sleep in. The shower requires maintenance (or replacing) and with one door completely jammed made it quite awkward to get in and out of. Still with high hopes of the promised breakfast, again very disappointed - solid hard boiled eggs, a tasteless full Irish and a dirty table cloth hastened our exit!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful Country Stay - The Cannaway house is absolutely beautiful! The rooms are spacious and each comes with its own bathroom! The breakfast was excellent as well! The only trouble we had was that it was a little difficult to find on our GPS. Despite this I would still highly recommend the Cannaway house!
- Verified traveler (10/5): A great B&B with country charm. - This B&B has the feel of a country estate. The surroundings are beautiful and peaceful. The host are friendly and attend to your every need. The Cannaway House made a perfect base to explore Southern Ireland. We will return!
- Christine (8/5): A beautiful hope in the country - The house is a lityle off the beaten track (part of its charm) but with our Tomtom GPS it sent us to a totally different area. Very frustrating. But once we found it, we had a great stay!
- Tim (10/5): Big big house. - Lovely room and breakfast. Location remote, but suited us. Need a car to get there.
- Julie (10/5): Loved this beautiful old place. - This was a wonderful experience for my husband and I. We really enjoyed this place. The family that own it were wonderful hosts. The breakfast was outstanding! Great place to stay.
- scott (10/5): Perfect stay - Jackie greeted us into her home with a warm smile and treated us like royalty. I loved the high ceilings and the attention to detail in their newly renovated B and B. My kids are still raving about the breakfast.
- Tracey (8/5): Jacuzzi heaven - Wonderful hosts and gorgeous room comfy bed and delicious breakfast
- joy (10/5): It appears old but it isn't! - very comfortable old world guest house; great breakfast; lovely walks around the area. staff are very friendly, although we had to ring the door bell a few times for them to find us.
great place to be.
- Alan (10/5): - Our visit was a complete delight the family run home went over the top to help us with car problems and many other little things. Would recommend this stay to everyone very family friendly
