- Graham (10/5): - Excellent value. Situated on a short bus route into Oxford City centre. Clean and comfortable accommodation.
- Brenda (9/5): - Location was great.
- jenny (8/5): -
- Bucsi (10/5): -
- Pedro (10/5): Excellent budget accommodation. - Excellent budget accommodations, about a ten-minute bus ride from the center of town. The building was clean and quiet, my room was cozy and pretty. The hotel doesn't serve breakfast, but there's a very convenient supermarket just up the block and open from 7 AM to 11 PM.
- Antti (8/5): -
- Frances (9/5): - Excellent location, safe parking, clean and comfy room Nothing
- Veronique (9/5): Nice clean and confortable hotel. - N/a Noisy road. Even with the closed windows
- Lee (9/5): - Staff was welcoming and easy parking Nothing really it was ok

- Hsiang-wang (10/5): Good place. I like it and will come back. - no breakfast, but clean yes along the Thames River
- Sergey (10/5): -
- Patrick (9/5): Great value. I’ll be back. - Small room but had everything I needed and was comfortable and surprisingly quiet. Great off-street parking facility. Helpful host. Nothing bad.
- Paul (9/5): Very good would 100% book again - The room was very clean The water in the shower took a long time to warm, also could have done with a shower curtain / screen
- foster (9/5): Convenint for Oxford on bus route. Clean and tidy - to be recommended - clean and tidy with coffee/tea facilities. Would like it even better i they served breakfast!
- Denitsa (10/5): -
- McIntyre (10/5): -
- Michael (10/5): - Everything was good Nothing
- Melissa (4/5): Ok in a pinch - was able to book last-minute on a busy weekebd located on a main road. One or two of the double-glazed window panes have failed and the road noise was louder than expected. One very drunk guest in the adjacent room gave the impression there is no acoustic insulation between the rooms. Given the lack of protection from noise I thought the room was pricey.
- Navpreet Singh (10/5): - Nice accommodation, clean and well set-up room. We'll lit. Heating is available and works well. Room is a little small, but quite normal with UK standards in this area. Good for a single traveller. Nothing
- Ben (8/5): -
- Mike (8/5): Just what was needed. -
- Mark (9/5): - Friendly and helpful reception. Clean and good facilities. Good location. Mattress not the most comfortable but fine for a night or two.
- Nicholas (8/5): -
- Anton (10/5): Very pleasant experience - The room was very clean and cosy. It had everything for a comfortable stay, including a toothbrush and complementary cookies. I slept like a baby here
- Graham (8/5): It suited my purpose and the owner was very friendly and knowledgeable. - There was no breakfast, but the whole place was very clean, and the room had everything you'd expect from a small hotel. The owner was great and very knowledgeable about the area, and recommended a nice breakfast place "The Missing Bean," and recommended a great local pub "The Magdalen Arms." It was a little bit pricey for what you got, IMO. Oxford is expensive generally, but this hotel was 20% higher than it should have been.
- philip (9/5): Very enjoyable stay and will visit again - clean place friendly and helpful staff The walk into the centre was bit more than we expected but we did catch a bus back
- mireia (8/5): -
- Beatriz (7/5): -
- Lewis (9/5): -
- Shirley (9/5): The hotel met our expectations. - Free parking, good location, clean warm room. There is also a generous supply of various biscuits. Breakfast isn't provided.
- Gerard (9/5): -
- Betty (10/5): - Clean and well maintained
- Clément (7/5): - Le calme absolu des lieux et du voisinage, le charme de l'hôtel (qui fait très très british) L'odeur de cigarette en entrant, puis de renfermé ensuite (malgré la fenêtre ouverte toute la journée)
- Hagit (10/5): -
- Pauline (10/5): - The property was clean and charming with the perfect amount is shelves in all the right places.
Walking distance to the city center takes about 20 to 30 minutes. There’s amenities close by restaurants, coffee, shops, etc. Exceptional host super friendly would definitely stay here again. This is my sixth time traveling to the UK and this is probably the most cleanest I’ve ever encountered. It was perfect no dislikes.

- Vanessa (9/5): - Lovely and clean. Helpful staff and great location for city centre.

- Daliana (8/5): We had a good stay due to the staff who was very helpful and friendly. Hotel is easily accessible from the bus station a - The owner was extremely nice and chatty. He provided help and advice! The room was decently priced for Oxford in July! Good value for money
- EDMUND OSBORNE (8/5): -
- Monica (8/5): A congenial front counter person, room was as advertised. Bus routes pass the hotel - The small single room was well designed and comfortable. The shower was small and narrow but fine for me. Unfortunately the front room overlooks the busy Iffley street so there is traffic noise. I slept comfortably but did close the window.
- steven (8/5): - No AC or elevator but only one floor so not too bad (and weather was cool). Property had ample parking. Good location: only a short bus ride to city centre. Room had lots of outlets for charging your stuff (big plus these days) 😄. Small coffee shop and convenience store just steps away.
- Barbara (10/5): -
- Cristina (9/5): -
- Crystal (2/5): Wouldn’t go back - Location, cleanliness Single bed that wasn’t made clear on advertising, and no flexibility (despite double rooms being available at the same price).
Staff were rude and accusatory
- Brendan (8/5): Very good - Small but comfy room. Bathroom had full amenities which was convenient as I'd forgotten my toothbrush.
V handy location: £7 Uber from city centre; parallel road had plenty of bars & eateries; Co-op one block away. Took the bus into Oxford in the afternoon - 10 min drive Room was v hot so a fan would've been useful. Even with the window open all night it was v hot.
- Marcian Mary (10/5): - Proprietor was great!
- Miles (9/5): Superb -
- Roger (8/5): Very clean - Very welcoming. Friendly staff. Very clean. Good car park Noise from road
- Ann (10/5): Fantastic location for exploring Oxford - Friendly helpful staff, fantastic location, very clean Nothing to complain about
- Brown (9/5): Superb - Really friendly and helpful welcome. Comfortable bed. The room pretty warm, and no air conditioning, though the window helpfully left open with the curtains drawn, when I arrived, which helped a bit
- Neil (10/5): Great one night stay for me and my son - Nice location and good parking. Staff were friendly and helpful Nothing
- Gurminder (7/5): Good - Comfortable bed. Friendly, helpful reception staff
- Iona (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly staff. Good selection of tea, biscuits and toiletries, comfortable room at the right temperature. Good carpark.
Room wasn't big but it didn't need to be. Good shower.
- Zoe (8/5): Very good - Nice and clean. Walkable distance to the center. It's very convenient to take the bus to town as well. The stop bus is close by. The parking is very good. There are some steps at unexpected places, e.g. the front door closes on to one.
- Emilia (9/5): Great place for leisure - The room was very clean, included free toiletries and slippers. Decor was pleasant. The bath is quite large.
- Alison (8/5): Very good -
- Godden (10/5): friendly place to stay. Great room, very clean and comfortable bed. Value for money . Lovely . - Lovely friendly staff with a great sense of humour. Very helpful. A lovely place to stay it was all great
- Sami (10/5): I had a great stay at Balkan Lodge. Located close to a grocery store & bus stop. Great parking lot! -
- Carol (7/5): Good - Good location, comfortable and very clean. First shower was cold because didn't know had to switch power on and no shower curtain.

- Jc (8/5): Very good -
- Ken (10/5): - Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Room comfortable and clean.
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (9/5): Superb -
- nigel (10/5): Great value - I don’t often review stays unless they were really bad hotels or really good.
The Balkan was excellent.
- Robert (8/5): Very good - Clean and comfortable. Free parking. Great location for town and buses. Friendly staff. Easy to find. With the window open it's quite noisy. More milk with the coffee and tea , in the room.
- Priscilla (10/5): - Very clean and well maintained. Staff is friendly and the room is comfortable.
- Merce (9/5): Superb -
- White (8/5): Very good - Comfortable rooms in a great location. Pubs and restaurants nearby and bus service into town practically on the doorstep. Off road parking and easy access to road system make it a handy place to stay. Supermarket nearby for any needs is a bonus. No breakfast service but not a problem because plenty of choice in the town via great bus service
- Vladimir (10/5): Very pleasant stay - The room was very cozy and nice, the staff very polite and helpful. And the hotel gave the best complimentary map of Oxford I have ever seen. All was good!
- Steve (8/5): Very good -
- Leon (8/5): Very good - It was a nice location to get to Iffley Village slightly easier to be a poll clerk
- Lindsay (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pinnock (8/5): Very good - Staff were friendly and helpful, good room and facilities. Nothing
- Martin (9/5): Superb -
- Katherine (6/5): Simple room with friendly service. - Excellent service at check in and check out. Simple basic room. Good pressure in the shower but could be hotter. Excellent pillows but mattress a bit soft for me. Good variety of tea/coffee and toiletries provided. Some rooms face a busy road so can be a bit noisy at times but generally quiet and a short bus ride into the city centre.
Great car park.
- Amanda (9/5): A nice hotel in a good location. - A great location for what we needed and the free parking was a bonus. Hotel is clean and the room was comfortable. Welcome in arrival was good. Would use again when visiting Oxford.
- Ludmila (7/5): Recommended for a short stay - Good location, small but comfortable room, friendly staff No breakfast included
- Alan (9/5): Superb -
- Antti (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (10/5): - Great value and location
- Stephen (9/5): Superb - Friendly staff
Spotlessly clean
Good location
- Michael (9/5): A great budget stay if visiting South Oxford for work or play. - The Balkan Lodge was basic, but good value.
It was perfect for us as we were attending a party about 20mins walk away on the river.
It may be a little far out of town if you're wanting to be in Oxford centre, but otherwise a good budget hotel. We like walking so it was fine, but if you struggle to do 15,000 steps a day, you'll need to take a taxi to town for a visit. Guy on the desk was very friendly and the accommodation basic, but great.
Being on a main road, I was concerned it would be noisy, but it wan't bad at all.
- Hsiang-Wang (8/5): - It's clean, but fewer restaurants around the place
- Kirk (8/5): - Cozy and clean room. Could use a new mattress. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Convenient location.
- Clare (10/5): Exceptional - Clean and very friendly ideal location for a night out in Oxford
- Andrea (10/5): Everything was just fab , host was fantastic and friendly. - Ideal location for Oxford city Very clean nice room
- Natasa (10/5): Exceptional - I've been to this hotel for the second year in a row. A very cosy hotel, nice and clean room, very friendly owner
- Jade (8/5): Awesome 👍🏼 - Location was great for the O2 academy The shower was a bit too hot, like even on the coldest setting I couldn't really use it...but other than that absolutely fantastic! My friends also got a room with a bathtub, it looked like a decent room.
- Lucy (8/5): Very good -
- Ld (10/5): Great budget option in Oxford - I must admit I was a little nervous about staying here and wondered if it was going to be a little Fawlty Towers like! How wrong I was! Everything was great. Easy to find wit a nice little car park. Warm, friendly welcome on arrival. Spotless and well equipped room. Very comfortable bed and and room was warm and quiet. Highly recommended! The only very minor criticisms I can make are:
No coat hook in the room (seems to be the case in 90% of hotels!)
I only had two tea bags and could have done with a couple more.
- Wong (8/5): Very good -
- Claire (9/5): Superb - Location, cleanliness, good size room. Not really a dislike, personally found the room a little cold as radiator quite small.
