Annette (9/5): Welcoming, dog friendly and value for money! - Even though the motel is old it’s been tastefully renovated in retro kiwiana which is lovely! The rooms are quiet and have plenty of space for everyone. Only improvement I think would be an extractor fan in bathroom to help with steam but the cover over shower helps a bit.

Great location near the lake and about a twenty minute walk from the main town centre which was great for me, although there is a small supermarket and some restaurants a little closer if you don’t feel like the walk into town. The owners are amazing! Very friendly and helpful and very generously gave me a lift into town with my suitcase when I needed to catch the bus the Auckland. Nothing! Everything was great!

June (9/5): A lovely Motel with a Retro vibe in a quiet, safe part of Taupo. - The motel was in a quiet, secluded part of Taupo. We liked the Retro style of the Unit - it set it apart from other Motels. It is a small Motel which suited us perfectly. The Owners were very welcoming. It didn't worry us as we had a car, but the Motel is a fair distance from Shops and Restaurants.

awhi (8/5): Stayed for 6 nights 😊 and highly recommend - Loved that it was a 5 minute walk to the lake. Near the hot beach water. Near the town. So convenient for my daughter and I. I love that my dog could come and feel at home! I will definitely be back We did have a couple of nights with flies (I think fruit flies or drain flies not too sure)invading our lounge. We had to spray down the place every time we left or go to bed so they wouldn't swap the place as there was a lot, like a loooot. However the staff, provided fly spray and mentioned that they haven't been there in two years. And this won't stop us from going back as that's just nature.

The place was great, and if anything it was extra clean and fresh. I would definitely stay there again with or without our dog. It didn't cost extra for the dog either. I loved the room too. There was a real retro vibe with cool furniture and artworks. I wanted to take half the furniture and art home with me. I liked that there was 'real' milk on offer too. There was nothing that I didn't like,

Everything was quite clean though and well kept. Not much; may be for bigger family cars, the parking space could be slightly bigger or may be park on the street for easier maneuverability. I recall the TV felt slow and old. May be an additional towel or two. Comfortable stay though.

Even though we had booked a room in February 2025, we arrived 1 January 2026, to be shown to the "Garden Shed" at the back of the place. It was so small we could not get all our luggage into the room and had to leave it in the car.

You had use of the garden and bbq which was a bonus. The owners are lovely and even gave us a lift into town instead of a taxi.
