- April (10/5): Five-star experience. Spacious rooms, gourmet Japanese cuisine, peaceful and relaxing. - A 5-star experience - exceeded all expectations. Every staff member went above and beyond to ensure our stay was exceptional. The food was gourmet! Multi-course beautifully prepared traditional Japanese dinners with printed daily menus were served by highly attentive staff in our room. Breakfasts were great too, served in a nearby dining room. The rooms were spacious and well appointed. There were lovely products in the bathroom. It was very peaceful and serene, and within easy walking distance of the train station and historical sites. Nothing comes to mind. It was a little tricky getting to the town of Hagi itself, but well worth it to experience a part of Japan that is off the beaten path.

Huuuuge rooms fit for a guest of royalty, of which 100 yrs ago was in fact, the case. Lovely traditional garden courtyard awaits you for coffee after a traditional chef inspired breakfast. The fact that I have to leave after just one night 😪

- TANAKA (10/5): 癒し - 萩の歴史を感じる建物で、古いのですが、とても綺麗で風情ある佇まいです。スタッフの方々も皆、心からの気配りができる方ばかりでした。食事もとても美味しかった。温泉はお肌ツルツル、お布団はフカフカなのですが、腰痛持ちの私が腰が一切痛くなりませんでした笑。またぜひ利用させて頂きたいと思います。

We spent two of our week long Yamaguchi prefecture trip at Hagi no Yado Tomoe and we were very happy with our choice. Evening meals presented in our room were exceptional. It was a traditional Japanese ryokan meal but with some western style interpretations. We loved our sashimi course the first night but also very impressed by the carpaccio served instead the next night. Also an apple gratin was my husband’s favorite dish of our entire trip and we had some excellent meals throughout. I highly recommend this hotel for your next stay in Hagi. It’s easy access by car for a day trip to Tsuwano and an easy location for all the interesting places in Hagi.

- ANRI (9/5): 細かいところで気になるところは何点かあったものの、スタッフの皆さんが一人残らずとても感じよかったので、好い滞在になりました。 - 大変温かい、感じの良いおもてなし。手の込んだ美味しいお料理。美しく広い客室。毎日、床の間に新しく活けられるお花。最寄り駅までの送迎サービス。徒歩圏内にバス停、駅、コンビニ、スーパー、ビーチのある好立地。 ・網戸に穴が開いていて、一泊目の夜は複数の蚊の襲来で眠れなかった。チェックイン時に、ベープ・ノーマットの置き場所を教えておいていただきたかった。 ・自転車の有料レンタルサービスがあるが、ヘルメットの貸し出しはないそうで、危なくて乗れない。 ・施設内も客室内もどこも掃除が行き届いていて大変清潔だったが、客室内の浴室の木製の椅子と木桶がだいぶ黒ずんでいて、青カビらしきものも見え、濡れるとぬめりも感じたので、使うのに抵抗を感じた。大浴場のプラスチック製のバスチェアと洗面器の方がずっと清潔感がある。 ・客室の浴室の足拭きマットがとても小さくて薄いので、家族3人で使うと一人目でビチョビチョになって不快だった。もっと厚くて大きいマットか、人数分の薄いマットの用意があると快適。

- Maria (10/5): Einmaliges, hochwertiges Ryokan-Erlebnis, Japan-Genuss pur! - Sehr schöne Herberge im alten, japanischen Stil. Eigenen japanischen Garten hinter den grossen Fenstern im Schlafzimmer. Foutons jeden Abend rausgelegt, jeden morgen weggebracht, jeden morgen wunderschöne, frische Blumen in der Vase aus Hagi-Porzellan. Schönes Onzen mit Wasser aus natürliche, thermische Quelle. Wunderbares Frühstück, Kinder haben die Gipfeli geliebt. Kaiseki-Dinner einmal probiert, war vorzüglich. Fahrradmiete war möglich und empfehlenswert, da Hagi recht gross angelegt ist. Hagi ist eine tolle Stadt und ein guter Ausgangspunkt für verschiedene Ausflüge. Empfehlen im Sommer Karstgrotten und Strand bei Tsunashima. Super Personal. Hätte vielleicht etwas näher an die Attraktionen der Stadt liegen können.

The staff went out of their way to welcome us and we felt like family. The meals were superb, it was apparent that much thought and time went into the flavors and variety. It was a real treat. The hot springs were also so relaxing and we all slept really well! We really liked everything!

The food was outstanding, the kaiseki dinners and the breakfasts are among the best we have experienced in our visits to Japan and the service was perfect, with everything done to enhance our experience, thank you. The rooms were beautiful and the gardens inside the ryokan were stunning. Nothing, everything was superb.

- Steve (10/5): Perfect blend of beautiful design and lovely service - This is a gorgeous inn. So serene and beautiful. Very nicely built with beautiful gardens visible from hallways and rooms. Staff was super friendly and the kaiseki dinner was fantastic. Really loved this place and could see why it has been in business for 100 years. Only small quibble is that there isn't a lot of commercial activity in immediate surroundings... but it feels like most of Hagi is pretty quiet.

It managed this across the property and in the excellent meals which had a touch of fusion. The staff were welcoming and attentive at all times.

- Matt (10/5): - Hagi Yado no Tomoe is an elegant traditional inn. While the outside is pleasant and clean, once inside you will enter a rare and elegant world. The facilities are immaculate and it is clear every decision is made with exceptional taste. The staff are polite, extremely kind and respectful of privacy. The rooms are gorgeous, and the multiple course Kaiseki dinners are delicious and incredibly beautiful. They also have a lovely selection of local pottery on display for sale. Today,upon departure, I did their sake brewery tour. The guide and staff driving couldn’t have been nicer, and the sake master was so down to earth and kind. I also enjoyed a sake tasting and purchased a small bottle to take home. After the tour they recommended a lovely place for lunch, making sure I knew where to catch my but to return to Yamaguchi City. While in Hagi I particularly enjoyed my visit to Toukouji Temple and the surrounding area. My stay at Hagi Yado no Tomoe was delightful in every way. I hope to return.

- Maxine (10/5): A memorable stay in Wonderland Hagi - Hagi No Yado Tomoe is a charming historic Inn that provides a high standard of accommodation and customer service. The building is lovely with a stunning large zen garden. Our tatami room was spacious, clean and comfortable with separate entrance room and bedroom offering very comfortable western style beds. There were large windows offering lovely garden and river views. Inn staff were very helpful and prior to arriving our bus station pick-up was arranged and a Shrine tour for the next day, that was very enjoyable and informative. The Inn also provided good information for further self-planned exploration of wonderful Hagi and as the weather was very hot when there, drove us to a starting point for our self exploration. All information regarding the use of the on-site onsen was provided with lovely high quality products and requirements provided in the room. The traditional breakfasts were truly exceptional with a great deal of care and expertise involved in providing the best service and presentation possible and using amazing local produce. I highly recommend the Inn and would love to stay again. Nothing.

The natural spring onsen was a real treat. The breakfast and special dinner was excellent and varied with many courses and beautifully served. The staff was very kind and helpful There was a major language barrier since barely any English was spoken, but we found that to be the case all over Hagi.

- Anne (10/5): Will definitely come back to Hagi to stay here - Very beautiful ryokan near the Hagi Castle Town with free parking. We booked a Japanese-style corner room for 3 nights and had a large garden to ourselves. The garden in the common area is also very beautiful esp at night. We opted for half board our entire stay and were very impressed with the food! The menu was different every time and we found ourselves anticipating what they’ll serve for the next meal. One of the meals they served was an all-puffer fish meal, which is arguably one of the best and most unforgettable meals of my life. The staff were also very warm and helpful up until the very moment we left. Definitely worth making the trip to Hagi just to stay here. Nothing!

- Holly (10/5): wonderful ryokan experience - loved our stay here! the room was sooo spacious, more than enough room for 2 people. we really felt like we were having a true japanese ryokan experience. everything in the room, from the tatami to the bathroom was so clean and comfortable. the staff was very welcoming and they even came to pick us up from the train station! the front desk helped us with suggestions for different restaurants and called to make reservations for us, they were very accommodating. the onsen was sooo beautiful and really made our stay just perfect. the japanese breakfast was included and it was truly a work of art, every bite was delicious and a feast for the senses. we enjoyed their complimentary coffee while viewing the japanese gardens off the reception area, so relaxing. overall it was just wonderful and we couldn't have asked for anything better. oh and the staff also took us back to the train station after we checked out! would definitely stay here again. nothing

- Max (10/5): A beautiful stay in a traditional Japanese inn - It is a beautiful traditional inn. I loved the rock gardens and onsen baths. The rental bikes are powered and the location is great, just a short cycle along the beach to the castle area. All of the staff were fantastic. We were very happy with our stay, no complaints.
