- Paul (6/5): - The hotel is next to a mini market and POPs ice cream store. It also walking distance from playas mantas. The pool is large and nice. The restaurant is mediocre at best. Unfortunately, there are no other options for food, other than the hotel restaurant and maybe one more place. We had to drive to the main road in order to get other restaurant choices.

- A9112NGhelenm (10/5): warm welcome - After an 8 hour journey to this hotel due to weather/ landslides/ cancelled trips to National parks, and no holiday Rep (informed prior to travelling tour rep would be available- discovered on departure home not offered if tour group is too small ) . I especially wanted to give a shout out to Rodriquez (bar staff) for his warm welcome, and patience in explaining everything in English, the entertainment was excellent and inspired me to learn salsa. Also David, on reception who offered reassurance during a very stressful situation, and driver who took us to the next hotel, thankyou for spotting wildlife along the journey and making what should have been a holiday of a lifetime memorable. Although the stay at the hotel was short- a couple of nights in an apartment, it was spacious , clean, with a spectacular pool. Enjoyed the food, and only a short walk to the beach where we saw monkeys for the first time! . Met a Costa Rican family staying at the hotel who were the loveliest, friendliest people. Would love to return. Pura Vida!
- fishinwater (2/5): I'd give this place a miss. You'll be disappointed ☹️ if you stay here - 1. Cold shower with no hot water for 5 out of 6 nights. This was horrible and other business colleagues experienced the same problem. 2. There was mold/mould on the wall. A proper clean would fix this. 3. This hotel was 600m from the main food and pool area and you either had to wait for the transport or walk in the humid heat along a busy street. 4. Pool was not clear and was run down. 5. The bathrooms and rooms were poor, aged and run down 6. There was no power at the room desk and you had to run power from a wall on the opposite side of the wall. Very inconvenient.

We never stsyed at it as we were humiliated disrespect we by 2 of security guards on punta leona beach as we got there and were humiliated by not weAring Punta leona hotel bracelets thats the only has the access to this beach onnpunta leona property. We were with 2 kids 10 yo and the guard on punta leona beach harrased us for not having bracelets from punta leona hotel but having non acess allowed from.this hotel. They did not refubd us till then and we NEVER stayed at this hotel as per what happened on the beach that day, as I managed the same day to book punta leona hotel with its beach access. Do nNOT fall for this scam hotel advertising! Stay aware. The guard on punta leone beach offered us to walk 15 miles on the ocean back to thus hotel since he was humiliating us in front of our crying 2 kids and didnt allow us to even take thr bus back to this hotel....kids born in CR, spoke perfect Spanish and we did too. It never helped us to get a refund from this hotel as Expedia said the hotel never answered thrm what happened. Please DO NOT BOOK this place . Scam.

- Wander57142408677 (6/5): POOL & PIZZA SAVES THE STAY - The entrance to the hotel was awful, they should advise the person to enter Pinta Leona which is a better street offered only after check out. The pool bar does not have the menu visible has tv screens that are never on and the music is turn off too early. At the desk a woman mention the pool closing at 3 on Sundays if that is true they should inform that. From the parking lot theres only 2 entries to the hotel forcing people to take a long walk carrying luggage The room had a lamp about to fall off hanging by one nail and the paint of the wall was peeling off. Had coffee available only for day 1 , were in Costa Rica had to ask of they would do the favor of giving some bags of coffee for day 2.

- KIRLY (6/5): - Hoye Arenas does not longer have an agreement with Punta Leona which means the only beach access is now Playa Mantas and you have to either pay the regular parking if you get any spot cause is pack during weekends or walk there from the hotel as is no longer offering transportation. Really Arenas just provides the pool and sells a closer location to the beach but no beach access at all. I’m not sure I’ll go back as least not during high season

When looking at photos make sure you look up HOTEL ARENAS don’t go to club that we did because it’s the nicer one. This hotel took the photos from the hotel down the street and used them as yours. Paid way more than booking another report. The only nice thing about the hotel was the pool. Drinks and bar food were ok. Do not eat on site for $35 USD because the foods a joke. Showers don’t work, bedding was hard as cardboard! Stay away from this place! I never write reviews and this is how bad this place is!! Key words FALSE ADVERTISING!

- jorge19v (6/5): Good hotel, but there are better places to visit - Punta Leona as a whole isn't a particularly good place to visit if you want to have a good beach experience in Costa Rica. They try to make it a "private beach" experience, but it just ends up being awkward and uncomfortable. Getting there by car isn't great, and parking is restricted (you get a parking pass when you check in to the hotel). And the beach itself isn't anything special, so you're better off going to other, more beautiful beaches that have unrestricted access. The hotel itself isn't bad. I only stayed one night, but it was nice enough. Good AC, very big pool with a bar in the middle, and a decent restaurant. The staff was very nice to me. It's not bad for a quick visit, but I wouldn't go to Punta Leona at all if I had a choice.
- tenaj275 (4/5): Spend your money somewhere else. - Fortunately, we were only there for one night. There is a 4 mile gravel road to get to the hotel.We had a superior room. The decor was very dated. The railing on the balcony was plagued with rust. The air conditioner worked well. The water pressure in the shower left much to be desired and the water temperature varied from hot to cold and back again all on its own. The matresses were like concrete slabs. The towels were tiny and felt like sandpaper. The shampoo was akin to dish soap. We were given a room far away from the restaurant and main entrance in a hotel that was practically empty. The breakfast buffet was nothing to write home about, but we have had worse. Definitely NOT worth the trouble or the money. There are many hotels on and around Jaco that are much better. Never again.

- Jason (6/5): - We have stayed at Punta Leona numerous times but now they have shut off access to playa blanco as well as to the pools and restaurants. The continental breakfast for Arenas is good but used to be a lot better. It cost us $100 extra per day to have access to the beach and lunch at the club. We also had open exposed wires under our sink in the bathroom which was a little worrisome especially for electrocution hazards.

- karengP8537JT (6/5): I wanted to like it but - I was looking forward to relaxing here after a busy tour. It was just average unfortunately. I liked the pool and beach area. Our room needed renovated and the chain kept breaking on the toilet. The breakfast buffet was sub par and the dinner buffet was not much better although they had a good salad bar. The other restaurabts on property were better and for some reason we could nit eat at one of the restaurants. It is suuposed to be all inclusive. The beach area was confusing. You couldn't get towels unless you were a "member" we had to get towels up by the pool which we didn't know. It was quite a hike from the pool to the beach.

En la habitacion hay 2 sabanas... no sabanas extra, ni nada para cobijarse, asi que los 5 dormimos con 2 sabanas. Este hotel no tiene acceso a la playa, tr dicen que puede ir hasta playa Mantas, pero cuando llegas allá no hay a donde dejar el carro y no puedes entrar. El hotel no tiene acceso a la playa en realidad. Mientras estas en las instalaciones, no puedes abrir un boucher para que carguen bebidas a tu habitacion, asi que si deseas una bebida en la piscina debes cargar tu cartera siempre, pues todo debe pagarse adelantado para que te sirvan. En general el hotel es bonito, esta limpio y todo esta en buenas condiciones, el personal hace lo mejor que puede su trabajo, pero es bastante incomodo porque es un hotel en la playa sin acceso a la playa.

Y si decides ir a la playa no tienen baños asi que tus unicas opciones son: Pagar parqueo e ir a playa Mantas o utilizar el parqueo gratis que ofrece el hotel pero luego montarte al carro con tu familia mojados y llenos de sal y arena. La Piscina muy bonita, PERO NO HABIA SALVAVIDAS.

At 9am on Saturday morning a guest was blasting terrible music at the pool for all to hear, really disturbing the peace. Alerted the reception workers, who said they would come talk to him, but never did. Disappointing.

Los que se debe mejorar : en algunas partes de las paredes de la piscina vimos manchas negras (parece hongos) y en cuanto a la habitación tuvimos problemas con la temperatura del agua de la ducha , hay mucha variación de presión y eso hace que haya variaciones en la temperatura del agua.

It has the beach close but it does not have an easy access to Playa Blanca which is something really bad, so I’d say this place is just for 1 or 2 nights maximum. In general is an average hotel, the “all inclusive” thing is not a big deal so don’t expect too much.

- Kazimierz (8/5): Good all inclusive - We changed last minute. The place is great for an all inclusive & family trip especially with children. The staff is VERY friendly & food excellent ( and plenty of it)
- Praveen (8/5): - We found this place as a same night booking (we checked in within one hour of booking it). Because of that the hotel was kinda unprepared for us. What made it harder was they didn't have a working internet connection. This made our check-in an hour+ process. But the staff was very patient and were genuinely trying to make it as quick as they could. They didn't hold us up for payment (because the lines were down) but let us in with 2 adjacent rooms overlooking the pool on one side and the trees + parking on the other. The pool is the highlight of the place + the open bar. It's an all inclusive. Breakfast is typical rice beans , fruit, .. good coffee. Lunch and dinner have more variety but for vegetarians it's again the rice +beans. You do tend to want variety after eating that for a day. Th

Carlos and Jorge went above and beyond to set up tours, fishing and a private taxi for a day. Marciella was so much fun at the pool. Sensi and Perla were wonderful in the restaurant. When we brought our fresh tuna in from fishing the chef went out of his way to prepare our catch for us. This is a very family oriented hotel. The buffet even had a special section for Los Ninos. Most of the staff spoke English. They helped us with our Spanish pronunciations patiently and courteously. We loved it there!

- Laura (8/5): Not good value for money but it was a decent stay - When I read the reviews of this hotel I was honestly quite concerned, but my stay was non-refundable so my cousin and I headed there with the intention of maxing out the all-inclusive aspect and spending most of our time at the beach. This is what I discovered: Hotel Arenas has no right to charge the amount of money they do for the overall quality of the hotel itself and the food. However, if they were to lower their prices a bit they would be much better value and I would happily stay there again. The whole place is just a bit shabby, too shabby for the amount of money it charges. When I opened the mini-fridge in my room the liner fell off completely. The sheets and towels both had stains. The lighting is hideous. The lounge chairs all had cracks in the slats (the one I sat in on our final morning actually broke while I was sitting in it), the pool tiles have some green algae growing in them and the concrete ramp leading down the pool bar was slippery and dangerous. The food was geared mostly towards locals (and even that was somewhat overcooked) and the breakfast was definitely better than the dinner. For a hotel that opened in the last decade and charges upwards of $200 a night, NONE of this should be happening. That being said, the staff were kind and helpful, the drinks were tasty, the pool was a very good temperature and the loud music stopped playing at a reasonable time for families to go to bed. The hotel is a decent walk from Playa Mantas, which is great.

It was crowded but it was new years eve so understandable, but i had almost no water pressure most of my stay I'm talking barely a trickle. The eating areas for the all inclusive were not air conditioned so sweating and eating is not cool. Food was good, the new years eve party was fun and food was very good. Beds were not great but i slept alright. Staff was very attentive.

They put loud music and movie (in the night time) at the pool, and rooms are so close to pool. and I also expect some drinks or food in the room (because it's all inclusive), but only two bottles of water were there for our 2 night stay. We called 3 times to get more water, but ignored. so i ran down to the front desk to get water

Also, very close to the pol area, which can be very loud with kids and music. If you are looking to get some rest, this is not the place for you.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Simple hotel in a quiet location - I stayed at Hotel Arenas alone and found that it was very quiet during the week but much busier at weekends. I feel this hotel is best suited for shorter stays as the food available does not vary greatly so it can become a little boring. The staff are friendly and helpful, although few speak English so bear this in mind. The room was clean with a good working tv and fridge. I felt that the food could be of better quality and note that when the hotel is particularly quiet there is only an a la carte menu available, which is the same each day for both lunch and dinner. The pool is a good size with plenty of seating but this does fill up quickly at the weekend when busiest. There is not much to do in the area but I would definitely recommend a walk to Playa Mantas. Local shop is convenient and pizzeria is average quality but good service.
- Irina (10/5): Amazing service...but restaurant takes ages - Am from Costa rica and eent to this hotel with my parents. Amazing service all the staff will be there to help you. Beautiful location very close to San Jose ( about an hour and a half). Clean and neat rooms. The breaking point is the restaurant. Nice an clean friendly staff but they take forever to bring your plate ( not exaggerations. 45 mins at breakfast. 1 hour to lunch. Same menu two dinners in a row and lunch). Other than that the beach is half a mile away and enjoyable place.

- Pirooz (8/5): Beautiful area - I loved the nature around the hotel very much. Food is catered towards the local people, but there was always some food that I enjoyed. It was noisy so I had to use white noise to filter the noise. Wi-fi in my room was weak so I had to go to the lobby a lot to have a better speed. Staff were very warm and friendly. Overall I enjoyed my stay.
