- Sooji (7/5): Exactly what i needed - hassle-free, cheap, comfortable, and convenient location - Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, definitely an outstanding part of my stay and i appreciated it! I also appreciated having the TV room to work in, however if it was busier i would have struggled to find a quiet place to work in. However - space to set up a laptop in the quiet is not exactly what you'd expect from a backpackers anyway. Surprisingly warm and comfortable for the old style of building. I was here for a short course at NMIT so location was ideal - close to town too, and running tracks up the Centre of NZ - went both in evening and morning. Facilities ageing - shower leaked water over the floor, etc. Charming building though, and tidily kept for the age. Lockers would be amazing under bunks, nowhere to secure belongings when away for the day.

- Antony James (8/5): I couldn't re-set the heater correctly. White needs to be painted on conc paving edges at steps. - Talking with other guests in the Kitchen The Showerhead was damaged and leaking. Not inconvenient but needs attention. There was mould on the wall above the shower that looked unsightly. Because of the dome above the shower you will need a Squeegee Mop with bleach operated from a ladder to get to it. The roof above the Bar directly outside my window was falling the wrong way and there was 40mm of water ponding in those trays. Clearly re-roofing locally to match should be planned for next summer otherwise you will soon have water draining into your Bar. The latch on the window offered no security and requires adjustment.

Tuve problemas con chinches en la cama que me dieron, pusieron una máquina de calor para "matarlas" y dormí en la misma cama (error por mi parte). Me volvieron a picar y peor que el día anterior. El hotel está bien, pero la verdad es que mi experiencia fue muy mala. Poco ambiente de hostel.

The doorstop was broken. Several external treads on the external access stair were missing their non slip matting. The shower head was hard to keep erect. The washers seemed stuffed. It needed viagra or a Plumber.

- Tereza (10/5): - I was in 4-person (2 bunk beds) dorm: the room was extraordinary spacious with large, comfy wooden non-shaking beds. The beds were far away from each other, there was a lot of space for your personal belongings and enough plugs. Each dorm room had its own bathroom! I also enjoyed dark heavy curtains,which made absolute darkness in the room for comfortable sleep. This was I think the most comfy dorm-room I've ever been to.

- Melissa (8/5): Cheap and cheerful - There was a separate cafe and a bar downstairs, so it was easy to grab something to eat or drink if guests wished to do so. It was also quite central, so within walking distance of the centre. The kitchen was stocked with everything needed and there was a free car park round the back, but with it also being a pub it was quite full It was a bit dated, and there were TVs on the wall but a note that they hadn’t yet been installed. The electronics label on it showed it being quite a few years old, so I don’t think they’d been newly put there. The walls were pretty thin and I could hear the room next door talking all evening. Can’t complain for the price though, it was cheap and cheerful!

- Sebastian (8/5): Guter Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen im abel tasman - Freundlicher professioneller Empfang, offene Küche ohne beschränkungen. Viele Räume zum verweilen, tischkicker for free. Die stockbetten haben keine seitlichen Absturzsicherungen. Die Lüfter im Bad sind defekt, es gibt keine spinde und Steckdosen sind auch rar.

- David (10/5): Fabulous staff in a great hotel. - The staff could not have been more helpful. They made us feel right at home and gave plenty of advice on activities plus places to go and see. We had an issue with our hire car during our stay and Erin, who is a star by the way, not only advised us where to get it repaired, but lent us her phone to make all the arrangements as we had days only esims. The food and drinks were superb, an excellent stay all round. Nothing
