- Monica (9/5): We overall were happy with our stay and just have few suggestions for improvements. - The room quality was great and the view was beautiful. Staff was helpful, friendly and inviting. Location was decent with some restaurants nearby, Grand Palace and ferry station. Would be nice to have more bathroom amenities, we were not given hand soap. There was also no shelf in the shower to place our shampoos and so we had to leave them in the floor of the shower.

- Pretty (7/5): - The view was amazing - and was a great place to people watch who were taking photos with the temple We tried to leave food, and came back to bugs. But could be our fault. The boat noises from the river made it hard to sleep sometimes.

- Christopher (5/5): Alright, could do a lot better - overpriced. - Overall the stay was very enjoyable - it is a great location but the room lacks privacy with the main window looking at Wat Arun, having to keep the curtains drawn for privacy negated the benefit. This should be made clear to guests. Also a side lamp bulb was missing and the power outlets were too lose for a charger - and the bathroom tiling was poor finished. Also the big room downstairs with tiny table was somehow pointless too. Again no privacy if curtains are open. The location to access the temples is very good but still over priced for what it is and the lack of view without losing your privacy. As above
- Annette (9/5): Don't stay here if you wan marble, gloss and room service. Stay here for the view and the location. - Above all I loved the wonderful view across the river to Wat Arun. That was the reason that I stayed at Arun Residence.
- Raucher (9/5): Very pleased, would stay again, Potential guest should be aware the suite is only lodging on site - Amazing location, and the private deck is large, comfortable, and offers an absolutely incredible view of the river and the magnificent Arun Wat. Guests should be aware this is an older building, with many stairs up to the suite (3rd level), and that the suite is the only lodging room on site (This is not a typical "hotel"). The building itself hosts a nice cafe downstairs (first 2 floors), a restaurant on the 4th level, and a rooftop bar above that. Very popular at sunset. Staff very friendly and helpful.
- Joseph (5/5): Did not meet expectations - The views are incredible The facilities and what the hotel has to offer does not reflect the price. The staff are rude and condescending. When we asked them where to park our motor bike for a 3 day stay, they told us we had to park at Wat Pho for 20 baht an hour. Even though no where on the hotel listing does it say there is no parking. The room has not been maintained. There are holes in the ceiling, the bathroom door is broken, the aircon does not work efficiently. The hotel charges very high rates & has not provided a room or atmosphere that reflects the price. They even make you walk 2 blocks for breakfast when the hotel room is located inside a cafe / restaurant. The views are incredible and if you are looking for a high price with no luxury then it might be a good spot for you.
- Desrrie (1/5): Avoid Arun Residence – A Complete Scam $200 a night - Avoid Arun Residence – A Complete Scam $200 a night
One of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Despite confirming our late arrival and even arranging airport pickup, we arrived at 10 PM to find the hotel locking its doors. The staff was confused, dismissive, and outright hostile, repeatedly telling us, "Why are you here? We are closed." After a frustrating back and forth, a kitchen staff member finally checked us in—but not before making us feel like a complete burden.
Then came the next shock—this is not a real hotel. It’s just one room inside a multi-level restaurant, with no proper entrance or lobby. We had to navigate through dark, empty dining areas and up narrow stairs with our luggage. The room had a nice river view, but it was overpriced, beat-up, and absolutely not worth it.
Morning arrived, and so did another disappointment—no breakfast on-site. Instead, we were told to find their sister property down the street, with no directions or assistance. When we finally found it, the food wasn’t worth the hassle, and the staff was just as rude.
The restaurant is clearly focused on tourists and ferry passengers, leaving hotel guests completely ignored. Even getting basic essentials like soap was a struggle—they handed us dish soap in a bottle instead.
For the price, this place is a complete scam. Arun Residence is not a hotel—it’s a glorified storage room above a restaurant. Don’t waste your money. Stay anywhere else. What Could Have Been Better
The biggest issue with Arun Residence is the staff’s lack of hospitality and organization. A hotel should never leave guests stranded at the door, especially after confirming a late arrival. Clear communication and a proper check-in process would have made a huge difference.
The attitude of the staff was another major disappointment. Instead of making guests feel welcome, we were treated like an inconvenience. A more professional and friendly approach—even just a simple greeting and willingness to help—would have improved the experience significantly.
Additionally, guests should be informed upfront that this is not a traditional hotel but a single room above a restaurant. Having a designated check-in area and better guidance for finding breakfast would make things far less frustrating.
Finally, basic requests, like hand soap, should not be an ordeal. Small touches, such as providing proper toiletries and responding to guests' needs with a smile, could have turned this stay into something far more enjoyable.
- Dhea (10/5): Exceptional - view of wat arun
- Le (8/5): Very good - Location near major attractions (Wat Arun, Wat Po, Grand Palace), beautiful view of Wat Arun in our suite, the Deck restaurant offers nice views of the river/Wat Arun at sunset No 24/7 front desk, no in-room safe, small reception area , no place to store your bags if you come in before 2PM check in time. The hotel has strict policy. There is no checkin before 2PM but no place to store your bags safely. We did not want to leave our luggage unattended/exposed in the reception/shop area where anyone can walk in and take them. No elevator despite the room is on the top floor. You need to arrange for the staffs to haul your luggage up/downstairs.
- Elle (10/5): Exceptional - Location was great, accommodation was clean and comfortable
- Atsushi (10/5): Exceptional - everything is good!
- Brian (5/5): Passable -
- Annette (10/5): Amazing views in the heart of the old town - The view and location are unparalleled! We loved just looking out at the boats and Wat Arun. Right out the door are wonderful sights and adventures! The place is mostly for the restaurant so you are a bit of an afterthought as a guest. But we didn’t mind too much.
- Alexandrina (8/5): Outstanding views of Arun - The view and the location is outstanding! The balcony is lovely and you can spend hours just watching the boats and Arun itself. It’s as impacting at night as it is during the day . The food was very tasty and well presented. That staff at the restaurant was very welcoming and attentive. Breakfast was included at a sister hotel which is 5 minutes away ( might need directions) . Very close to Grand palace and sky train The accommodation is tired and could do with being a bit more cleaner . Needs some maintenance especially around the shower cubicle.
- Ann (9/5): Superb -
- Cristiane (1/5): This was a completely scam!!!! First the room was in the middle of the restaurant area which closes late and was laud. - This was a completely scam!!!!
First the room was in the middle of the restaurant area which closes late and was laud.
Second, I paid for a window view that is actually is an internal window facing the corridor restaurant and stairs which has a window view.
My curtains needed to be closed all times because random people were passing thru it (restaurant costumers). See pictures attached.
Shower was too weak and we have no water running in the morning (without prior notice)
There was a stairs inside the room that was not mentioned and the guard rail was so short (knee hight). Not safe at all.
- Trisnawaty (9/5): best view and lovelly staff. - best view to see wat arun if you stay in room with balcony, near the restaurant if you take big luggage, they only have stair. but the staff very helpfull to help you carry the bag
- Chanikarn (8/5): Very good -
- Stephanie (10/5): Exceptional - Location was perfect! Right across the river from Wat Arun. Wat Pho and the Grand Palace are all within walking distance. The restaurant at Arun Residence was fabulous! Our best meals were there and very convenient! Loved having coffee each morning on the balcony overlooking the Wat and river. Highly recommended!
- Garry (6/5): beautiful view and very comfortable bed - lovely room, comfy bed , great location building work next to it that ruined the view. breakfast was terrible. poor selection, very limited and boring
- Becky (9/5): Rustic charm with world class view to blow your mind! - The view is outstanding, most likely one of the best in Bangkok.
Save looking till you get to your balcony! (which is all yours)
On arrival you have a welcome drink and help with your luggage to your room. The view from the open top roof bar is stunning, the perfect place to watch boats and soak in the vast skyline. The room was very comfortable and clean, and the desk very helpful. Great smoothie bar and comfortable restaurant with a relaxed vibe.
The location is perfect, with the Wat Pho (sleeping Buddha) just across the street.
Do not let mosquitoes/river put you off, there is a breeze that normally keeps the mozzies away, I didn't get bitten once.
Tucked away at the end of an alley only adds to the exotic charm of the hotel. Can thoroughly recommend for a bit of rustic glam with probably one of the best or most iconic views in the world. Could have had a low light on the corner table, other than that, nothing. Great value for money.
- Amy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wayne (1/5): Totally avoid this tourist trap ripoff. - View and absolutely nothing else. OverprIced, tourist scam dump. Seldom any staff around and rude. Facility run down…barely operable shower. “Rooftop” Amararosa dining room not on top floor.
The Included breakfast was in another hotel, 3 blocks away down a deadend alley with a huge, red “Do Not Enter” sign; it didn’t open until 8:30 and it featured a ketchup bottle that had been refilled so many times that the entire cap was covered in mold (I ate street food all over Thailand but didn’t touch that thing!)
Final ripoff was cab to airport…front desk would only book a cab for me for a nonnegotiable 40% more than I had paid unbound and when it arrived it was NOT a licensed cab but his buddy in an old car with no gps to monitor best traffic routes.
- Gustavo (10/5): Impressive! - Arun Residence is phenomenal. It's like being inside a film. Waking up and having the Wat Arun temple in front of you is priceless. The breakfast also overlooking the temple is superb. Super quiet and close to the most visited temples in Bangkok. Everything was phenomenal.
- Kumiankka (8/5): Very good - The wiev The stairs
- Nadia (7/5): Good - Room was clean, the view from the room is amazing The alley to get to ghe place is very dirty and smells all the time.
- Chua (8/5): Very good -
- Marie (7/5): Good -
- Ramona (10/5): A spacious room with an unbeatable view! - We stayed in the Arun Suite (there are only 2 rooms at this "hotel") and it was by far the best one! The view of Wat Arun was amazing morning and night and worth the price alone. We were right on the river and loved watching the party boats and others go by. It was very spacious, bed was very comfy and a big shower. There is also a big balcony to hang out on and a rooftop bar and restaurant steps away. Great value! Also easy to get to Khoasan St and Chinatown as there are taxis and tuk tuks available night and day at the end of the alley from the hotel. Oh, and an amazing staff AND air conditioning! Nothing major comes to mind! There is no elevator so make sure you can climb about 3 flights of stairs to get to the suite.
- Okada (9/5): Superb -
- Nigel (9/5): Superb - Breakfast OK. Location excellent
- Pauline (8/5): Very good -
- Kayankit (10/5): Outstanding View - Spectacular view of Wat Arun across the river from the privacy of the suite.
Stayed at Sala Arun, which was also fantastic and decided to check out this suite for my last night. Glad I did.
- Andres (9/5): Superb - The views, the location and the fact that it does include breakfast (surprise!) The noise and light isolation is not the best
- Tamara (3/5): Can't beat the view - room needs a big refresh and clean. - The balcony - and view - from the Arun Suite is fantastic. This room needs to be refreshed and thoroughly cleaned. We have stayed here in 2014, and the room has not really been maintained well since then. There is mold on the shower tiles, and the shelf in the shower is broken. They also don't supply a sheet on the bed. There also appears to be a insect problem either in the room or on the balcony, since both my husband and I came away with many, many bug bites all over our bodies.
- Ry (9/5): Superb -
- Ibrahim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nattapon (9/5): Superb -

- Elizabeth (8/5): Beautiful suite with a stunning view! - The view was stunning!! The beautiful room felt traditional and yet was comfortable. The large balcony overlooking the river was the perfect place for drinks in the evening. The restaurant next to the room brought us food to the balcony. We loved it. Also perfect for sightseeing!! Everything on your doorstep. They weren't serving breakfast when we were there - but plenty of amazing places just round the corner.
The winding stairs up to the room are a challenge for anyone with mobility issues - but definitely worth it!!
- Dante (10/5): I really enjoyed the suite. You honestly can’t beat the location in terms of its proximity to the Grand Palace and the E - amazing location, suite had an amazing view of Wat Arun. Restaurant was very good and the roof top bar had a great view too. The suite was comfortable, shower was good, AC was amazing. They did have an issue with their pipes so we didn’t have water in the suite for about half a day, but we were out and about so we didn’t report it to them until later in the day. Once I brought it up to them they had it fixed within 20 minutes, so that was awesome on their part. I’m guessing they would have fixed it quickly if I mentioned it in the morning.
- Jeanne (7/5): the bar and restaurant are a winner - room with a view construction works were ugly
