• sonali (5/5): value for money for a short stay , excellent beach - the staff went out of their way to be helpful i visited this hotel many years ago when it was new. i was a fantastic hotel on a very good property. sadly the hotel is now very run down . badly needs a refurbishment and upgrade. the staff made up for a lot of shortfalls that were beyond their control

• Amanda (6/5): - Staff was very friendly. The rooms seem a little old. The same goes for the chairs, sun shade by the beach. There are locals wanting to sell stuff, just outside the hotel, which are very approaching.

But this is about the hotel, which is overpriced compared to what I saw in the preceding 10 days in Sri Lanka, and has not seen any investment recently. The common areas, lifts, bathroom etc all need redoing to be worthy of the star rating and price. See above re the very poor state of everything. There was no alcohol license, which of course was not mentioned on the site and the staff did not seem to understand if there were any light snacks when arriving early afternoon. Really not worth the money, albeit that the location on the beach and the state of the beach is superb.

• Mitchelle (10/5): Amazing stay at Shinagwa Beach Hotel - The hotel was situated on a fabulous beach, the view from our room was utterly amazing. The staff couldn't do enough to make our stay a great experience, the food was of a very high standard, and as everyone in previous reviews commented on the head cocktail barman - we totally agree that he was exceptional. I would like to thank all of the staff for such a wonderful stay - we loved it. I can't think of one negative comment about this hotel

The b'fast is somewhat ok with the crowd.Not much varities.But manageable. There is no outside restaurants near to the hotel. So the only food option is the hotel.

Pool is nice, but no seating nearby Breakfast is having limited options Welcome drink is average Some toiletries were missing from the washroom even though they were listed on the checklist. • Amanda (7/5): Stunning sunsets, but rooms, food & drinks could improve - Right on the beach front, our rooms had a great view of the setting sun. The beach was long and uncrowded but the red flag was up. The pool, located in a courtyard outside main reception, the bar and the restaurant was nice, towels were provided. The garden area, also on the beach front had sun loungers and umbrella shade. The rooms were clean enough and the bed was comfortable, slippers and bathrobes were provided as well as toiletries. The breakfast buffet had a decent selection and it was nice to have a slight variation the following morning too. Even though the rooms were clean enough, there were maintenance issues that need to be addressed. The door to our balcony was difficult to lock/unlock, the touch pad services outside our rooms didn’t work, one of the safes didn’t work, the bathroom had mouldy, badly applied silicone which made it feel unclean. In the restaurant there were things on the menu that were disappointing and also unavailable.

• Nadiia (4/5): Hotel allows sellers to harass all guests and local male sellers to be looking at woman and young girls who are in their - Nothing, shortened my stay and returned to previous hotel I will not recommend this hotel to anyone! SELLERS are harassing all guests and calling and talking to you as hotel allows them to stay near the hotel entrance to the beach, harassing you the whole day while you are on sunbeds at the hotel territory. Once you go for to the beach they approach you and keep following you. Males (local sellers) are staring at me, other women who are in swimming suits and young girls and this is called also a harassment and hotel allows it! At the same time they have a strict policy of no food & drinks from outside to be consumed in public areas while all the sellers keep pushing to the guests in very annoying manner juices which hotel and security (who is just chatting with them and not doing anything) are allowing guests to purchase. Note to the Management- Revenue Loss due to bad management.

Durant une des 3 nuits, en plein milieu de la nuit, les lumières se sont mis a s'allumer et s éteindre de manière continue pendant 40 min avec des bips intempestifs qui nous ont empêché de dormir.

• Nikolay (10/5): A nice, cozy, very sustainable and well-managed hotel according to high hospitality standards! - This hotel is a pure sweet spot: a combination beautiful sandy beach with nice ocean view through palm trees, excellent and well-trained staff, huge variety of very tasty food, comfortable rooms and excellent management with focus on sustainability. We booked a room with breakfast and intended to dine outside, however upon our arrival a hotel manager Mr Fernando warmly welcomed us and recommended to try dinner buffet... And we did - the best experience (both breakfast and dinner) comparing 5 hotels in Sri-Lanka we visited during our 3 weeks vacation. Additional compliment to the way the hotel is managed - exceptional level of service, safety, sustainability and attention to the guests needs. I can't put in a review all the things we're positevely surprised with this hotel - it far exceeded our expectations, definitely recommend to stay here!

• Christof (1/5): Schlechte Qualität für einen viel zu hohen Preis! - Leider gar nichts! Wir waren in unserem Leben bereits in vielen außereuropäischen Ländern und Hotels der Welt, jedoch waren wir selten so enttäuscht. Der Übernachtungspreis ist für die außergewöhnlich schlechte Qualität des Hotels unverschämt. Die Fotos im Internet sind alt und entsprechen nicht der Realität. Das Hotel mit einem winzigen Grundstück ist komplett heruntergewirtschaftet und müsste dringend renoviert werden. Das man keine Alternative ortsnah für Essen und Getränke hat, wird von dem Hotel durch besonderes hohe Preise schamlos ausgenutzt. Nach einer Nacht haben wir das Hotel fluchtartig wieder verlassen. Für die unschöne Umgebung kann jedoch das Hotel nichts. Es gibt so viele schöne Orte und nette Hotels auf SriLanka. Seid vorgewarnt und sucht Euch etwas anderes.
• Volker (10/5): Alles perfekt und dann noch die beste Lage am schönsten Strand! - Die direkte, ruhige Lage am herrlichen Sandstrand mit gemäßigten Wellen haben wir sehr genossen. Jedes Zimmer hat Meerblick über die traumhafte Bucht. Die Zimmer sind groß, ruhig, sehr sauber, komfortabel und modern und hochwertig eingerichtet. Uns hat sehr gefallen, dass das Hotel nicht so groß ist, es ist alles sehr persönlich und herzlich und superentspannt, der Service ist prima, alle sind sehr zuvorkommend. Auch essen kann man dort gut, man sitzt drinnen und auch draußen sehr gemütlich. Per Tuk Tuk oder Taxi kann man gut die Gegend erkunden oder eine Fluss-Boots-Safari unternehmen, es ist ein guter Ausgangspunkt. Es hat alles gestimmt für uns, nichts Negatives zu bemerken.

The rooms have the best sea view Ive seen in that part of country. Simply stunning. And great value for money too. Nothing, it was perfect

Ontbijt is meer dan goed. enige vervelende vond ik dat er net voor het ontbijt aan mij werd gevraagd hoe laat ik ging uitchecken terwijl de eindtijd 12:00 uur is. Krijg je het toch het gevoel van dat je weg moet, wat minder maar geen probleem verder.

Food is very delicious and we had a fantastic breakfast .Before preparing our food chef Shyamal talked to us and made everything according to our needs . It was a comfortable stay with a nice swimming pool.like to visit again. Parking 🅿️ space is not arranged well.
• Sarah Lanz (8/5): - Der Blick vom Balkon war schön und der Service meist sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Da derzeit Nebensaison ist, war besonders der Strand leider nicht sehr gepflegt. Und das Essen war dafür, dass es von der Qualität recht durchschnittlich war, sehr teuer.
• Linda (10/5): - Fabulous beach hotel. The staff were attentive and always happy to cater to our needs. The room was clean, comfortable and perfect view. The food was delicious and flavourful. The grounds are neatly kept. During our stay, there were many other couples enjoying their stay, in a comfortable quiet and relaxing atmosphere. No kids to be seen which made it even more wonderful to unwind. We will be back.

• Seyon (10/5): Alles war gut - Das Zimmer und das Frühstück war gut. Das Hotelpersonal und das Managment war sehr nett, da sie sich nicht nur um den Hotelgast, sondern auch um seinen Besuch kümmern.
• Fabia (8/5): Achtung Überbuchungen - Das Hotel war überbucht, als wir ankamen. Nach fast 2 Std. Wartezeit bot man uns eine Lösung an, bei der wir innerhalb unseres Aufenthalts von 6 Nächten 3 Mal umziehen hätten müssen. Haben wir nicht akzeptiert, dann ging's mit nur der ersten Nacht in einem andern Hotel. Kommt anscheinend immer wieder mal vor...

• Traveling_Critic (9/5): Relax place/ Место для уединённого отдыха - Давно хотела побывать в этом отеле, поскольку отель расположен, скажем так, уединённо. Рядом только виллы, как частные, так и для размещения туристов, но они все небольшие, поэтому народу совсем мало, тихо и спокойно.... Территория отеля маленькая, но ухоженная. Посторонних не пускают, поэтому никто не надоедает со всякого рода услугами, типа экскурсии, сувениры и пр. Будьте готовы к тому, что рядом нет никакой инфраструктуры (я знала об этом, поэтому для меня это не было сюрпризом). Либо пешком до Ахунгала бич, либо на тук-туке. сняла звезду за месторасположение, но только потому, что очень много бездомных собак рядом на пляже -для меня это критично и за отельный ресторан (мне их кухня, честно говоря не очень понравилась, а также в ассортименте много пиццы, пасты, сэндвичей, которые я могу и в Москве поесть)
• Asmaa (10/5): Honeymoon stay - Arrived on our honeymoon and the hotel staff were so generous that they had arranged a special setup. Thanks for making our stay a special one. One of the best beaches you will find anywhere in the world. Will definitely return.
