• ANGUS (10/5): A sensational hotel you will remember forever. - This hotel far, far exceeded our expectations. From the moment of arrival for a lovely check-in experience, we were looked after beautifully for our whole stay by a host of kind staff. Our eighth floor corner club room was huge and elegant, with birds swooping by and a stunning view. The club lounge is generous and useful, and we had two fabulous dinners served in a private dining space. The seven courses were excellent and memorable. We can't say enough wonderful things about this hotel Absolutely nothing - everything was perfect.

• Ross (10/5): Unforgettable - This is a wonderful place. We decided to stay here as a treat and were not disappointed. To get there we took the train to Fukuyama, then the hotel shuttle bus from the station for the 30 minute drive to the hotel. We were greeted warmly, the staff are excellent, they really looked after us. We had a beautiful room on the 8th floor, with breathtaking views to the Seto Inland Sea. Just sitting at the window, looking at the view, was so relaxing. Dinner (Japanese style) was amazing, and breakfast was also very good. We were looking forward to using the roof top onsen, but the day we arrived it was closed because of high winds, so we used the inside bath which was great. The following morning the wind had dropped and we had a chance to use the outdoor bath, just as the sun was coming up. We had a bit of time before check-out, so we took the little boat across to Sensui Island which was beautiful, then a wander round Tomonoura. Thank you for giving us such a special and unforgettable memory.

• Percival (8/5): Wonderful experience of Japanese culture - The view of the Inland Sea from our room was memorable. Our room was most comfortable, with a small lounge area. The futons on the floor were also very comfortable. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The only problem I had as a Western vegetarian was on the Saturday evening when the multi course dinner was simplistic and unappetizing and certainly not up to the standard of the dinners provided on the Thursday and Friday nights. These were exceptional in their variety and dedication. Perhaps there was another chef on duty?

Despite language barrier, they used the translation app to provide information. Unbeatable rooftop onsen. Superb ocean and sunrise view, great food (dinner + breakfast), easy parking. Even taking the lift you get a fantastic harbour view. I thought set dinner and breakfast was included for our 3- and 6-year old, but not so. I advise checking and confirming when you book.

• CHONG-YIN (10/5): - Very nice traditional Japanese hotel within 5 minutes walking distance from the Tourist Information Center if you took the public bus. I stayed in a Japanese style room with ocean view and slept on futon laid on tatami. Dinner and breakfast were included in the room rate, and the food was pretty good (kind of in fine-dining style). They have shuttle bus service from and to Fukuyama Station so be sure to take advantage of it. The welcome drink that they serve when you check in was nice.

• リュウジ (10/5): - 70代の父と50代の夫婦の3人で和室10畳を利用。スタッフの方の対応も丁寧で感じもよく、お部屋は４階でしたがオーシャンビューが素晴らしく、清潔で使いやすくとても過ごしやすかったです。食事も美味しくて、基本プランでも量は十分でした。屋上も大浴場もお風呂は想像より小さめでしたが、食事前も食事後も貸切に近いくらいで混み合うことなく、ゆっくり心地よく入れました。露天風呂の眺めは最高でした。 朝食も美味しく、夕食ともに１階の食事処でしたが、個室なのでお部屋食と変わらないくらいリラックスてきました。お部屋に食事の臭いが残らないのでこちらでの食事でよかったと思いました。トータル的にとても良いお宿だったと思います。

We were not informed, and was presented with the bill on check out. The bus driver also did not help with luggage, we had to carry our luggage up the bus. No storage in luggage hold even though it was a big bus. The dinner portions were pretty small.

If you could, spring for the deluxe rooms (they are in hot demand), they were well appointed, recently upgraded and truly luxurious. Will need a car to get here, but it’s part of the expectations and experience so it’s not really a detractor.

• Norihiro (8/5): - 素晴らしいお部屋とお料理でした。 部屋から眺める景色も絶景で、特にこの部屋は仙酔島と弁天島を望むことができます。 鞆の浦観光を散策するにも近いロケーションなので便利です。 アミューズメント的な設備やサービスはあまりないので、小さなお子さんには少し退屈かもしれません。一風変わったパズルやゲーム等、お部屋やロビーのテーブル上で楽しめる貸出グッズがあるとなお良い気がしました。 また利用したいと思います。

Even though we are vegetarian, they were able to accomodate us with what was probably the best meal of our trip. The view out the window was also amazing. This is one of the best hotels I've ever visited!

• Anne (10/5): Hotel with an amazing view at a quaint seaside - The hotel was truly remarkable! While some areas, especially the bathroom, could use some renovation, it was exceptionally clean, and the view was simply breathtaking. The dinner was an absolute delight! Although I am not usually a fan of rice, it was so soft and fluffy that I could not resist having another bowl. The amenities, such as the sauna and public onsen, were fantastic. If you ever find yourself in the charming town of Tomonoura or even Fukuyama, I would highly recommend staying here. Lastly, the staff and service were truly exceptional.

Its a great option in Tomonoura as it is in town rather than down the road, so everything is walkable. Shuttle service from Fukuyama station is very convenient. • Yasuyo (4/5): If you don’t have a taste for Japanese food, don’t stay there. - The view from the room. The frond desk staff was wonderful and extremely helpful. Thank you. We were picked up by the hotel shuttle near the Fukuyama station. We had heavy suitcases as we were traveling Japan for a month. The driver just stood there and watched us struggle carrying them up on the shuttle and didn’t even offer to help. I have travelled extensively around the world, including Japan, but never ever encountered a shuttle driver not help with suitcases. One waitress kept arguing with me about our choice of breakfast. We requested just eggs and toast. There’s no simpler breakfast than that to prepare! For what we paid for the stay at this hotel, I thought a small request changing the menu from Japanese breakfast to a simple western breakfast was not too much to ask. What I didn’t appreciate was one of the female server, who spoke English, kept arguing with me. A server should NEVER argue with customers, in my opinion. Other staff members were very courteous and went beyond their duty to accommodate us. We liked the hotel overall, but a couple of employees with the negative attitude ruined the entire stay and we ended up giving the bad overall review.

• Joan (10/5): The Hotel Ofutei is perfect for a weekend treat! - The Hotel Ofutei was a wonderful relaxing retreat after the hectic-ness of Osaka and Nagoya. The hotel is right on the water so you can hear the waves lapping at night and the seabirds during the day. There were two western chairs in our tatami room so you could look out the picture window to your hearts content. The futons on the floor provided a sound sleep and weren't problematic even for me with my bad knee. The toilet room, sink, shower/bath room were all separate with the bath tub being deep for soaking. There was a tea service with good sencha and lots of hot water for the teapot. There was also a good-sized mini-refrigerator for bottled water and the local houmeishyu. The kaiseki breakfasts and dinners were the high point! After so many combini and ekibentos, it was a real treat to have wonderfully presented, tasty, and expertly prepared fare. Kudos to the chef! The splurge added to our sense of well-being. The service made you feel like you were well-taken care of. No struggling with luggage -- they hauled it up to the room and then later out to the shuttle service. The hotel personnel were polite, helpful and graceful -- and patient with our sputtering Japanese and fallback into English. The shuttle service took us directly to the JR Station in Fukuyama. This hotel/ryokan is a real find.

• Van (10/5): Deserving of a repeat visit - The internal architecture of the room was outstanding. My room had these cupped wood flooring that was amazing in craftsmanship. The each wall had a variety of tiling or textured wall paper, I have never seen before. The lighting and plumbing fixtures were top-of-the-line. Each wall of my corner room, had a impressive view of the ocean. The special access lounge had free alcohol, chips, and variety of other beverages. The meals were seasonal delicacies with very unique flavors. Multiple staff were all friendly and helpful, at every turn. They were always smiling and willing to help or assist you. Low-key atmosphere for an amazing and relaxing experience. This facility deserves a repeat visit. One usually encounters the occasional staff that had a bad day, or just needed a day off. The majority made the effort to speak English. Even if it was far from major transportation hubs, it was extremely accessible.

• Fujiro (2/5): - 大浴場だけではなく部屋の風呂まで故障していて、入浴せずに寝ることになってしまった。アクシデントなので仕方がないと思っていたが、ホテル側の対応がとても不誠実だったので気持ちが変わった。チェックアウト時にも申し訳なかったという様子はみじんもなかった。 一泊２万円以上の高い料金なのに、騒々しい家族連れと一緒の部屋で二食とも食事をさせられた。 料金をディスカウントしてほしい。 なによりも大気汚染のせいなのか外気が臭く、景観と全く合わなかった。 二度と行くことはないだろう。

• SACHIKO (8/5): ゆったり過ごせる宿です - 平日に宿泊し満室とのことでしたが、部屋数が少なめなので、館内は混み合っていることもなく、ゆったりしていました。 食事は手の込んだ料理が程よい量で、とても美味しくいただきました。 食事場所は個室でしたが、上部は換気のためか完全に仕切られていないので、未就学くらいのお子さんと赤ちゃんの声がよく聞こえ少し気になりました。 温泉の泉質はよく、とても温まりました。海辺の立地なので、露天風呂からはすぐ近くの島や星空や街明かりがよく見え、疲れを癒せました。 和室は敷布団の下に20センチほどの厚みの硬いマットが敷かれていたので、腰掛けたりするのも楽で寝ても快適でした。 鞆の浦を散策するのに便利な場所で、とても良かったです。

• MADOKA (8/5): 眺望は最高 - 部屋からの眺めはかなり良かったですし、部屋の調度品も良かったです。ベッドのマットレスとか良かったです。 ただ、壁にそこそこ目立つ擦り傷があったり、内風呂が、使いづらい作りでした。 8階の露天風呂も、風が強いと、身体洗うところも風に晒されるのが辛いところでした。 食事は非常に満足です。味も量も満足です。日本酒は、個人的な趣味もありますが、神石高原町が隣なので、そこの酒蔵のがないとかラインナップの基準がよくわかりませんでした。あと、在庫切れの確認がきちんとされていなかったのも残念でした。レストランの各席への案内時にすが人がいない時があったのも残念でした。 全体的には良かったのですし、スタッフの方の感じもよかったですが、同じくらいの値段のホテルに泊まった時に比べ詰めが甘くコロナで2年は旅行に行ってなかった分、より気になったのかもしれません。

• Tsutomu (10/5): 展望風呂から眺める日の出！極上の休日になりました - 部屋に案内されて一歩入った時の感動は忘れられません。全室オーシャンビューとは聞いていましたが、瀬戸内の穏やかな海が迫ってくるようなビューです。これだけでもここに泊まった価値はあると思います。スタッフのホスピタリティや施設はどれも一流でした。鞆の浦で最高ランクのホテルだと思います。お料理も美しい盛り付けと新鮮な魚介類で海の幸を満喫できました。新型コロナ感染対策ですが、入館時のサーモグラフィーによる検温や展望風呂入浴の人数制限や随所に置かれたアルコールボトルなど一定のレベルは超えているとは思いますが、この手のホテルにしてはやや手ぬるい感があります。何と言っても改善の必要があるのは、福山駅往復のホテル送迎バスの密対策です。HPでは定員の半数程度で運行とありましたので安心して予約しましたが、行きはほぼ満員の乗車率、帰りは補助席を使用しなければならないほどの混雑でした。冷や汗ものの片道30分間です。同時刻発の第2便はどうもないようで、何とか押しこみたいという意欲満々でした。また、朝食会場は個室になっているのは安心なのですが、そこに至る食堂内の廊下を通る際に、配膳される朝食がラップもせずにむき出しで置かれていました。いくら個室が用意されていても、そこを話しながら通る客やスタッフがいる以上、感染リスクは下げられません。あと一歩の工夫があれば感染対策がさらに進むと思います。このレベルのホテルには期待したいことです。それを除けば、非の打ち所がないホテルです。屋上にある展望風呂からひとりで眺めた日の出は感動的でした。静かな瀬戸内海に続く空が白んできて朝焼けに染まり、次第にお日さまがが海から上ってくる様子を想像してみてください。ここに来てよかったと思えるはずです。

• Verified traveler (8/5): コスパは良いとは言い難い - 比較的大柄な私に小の浴衣を用意してあって、合わなかったら言って下さいって、あり得ません。 屋上露天風呂は、風が強く、縁には鳩の糞、浴槽内には羽が浮いていて、不快でした。 食事は急かされているように次々と運ばれました。料理に工夫が見られたので、残念です。

• Verified traveler (10/5): - The Place was a very unique and interesting hotel. With 4 Onsen’s and a beautiful view of the sea, it is really a one of a kind hotel. The rooms were neat and had a amazing view. The only problem is the location, with the nearest Family Mart Being a kilometer away. The staff were excellent from the time we arrived and left. • Verified traveler (10/5): 絶景と温泉と美味しい食事 - 4日前にも宿泊をしましたが、夕食時メニューに工夫があり、心遣いが嬉しかったです。台風の影響はありましたが、曇天でも窓一面の海の景色はそれはそれで自然の畏敬をかんじられる素晴らしい景色でした。家族でのんび、ゆったりできました。

• Verified traveler (10/5): - I booked a corner room and the views were amazing. The dinner was delicious and impeccable service. Roof top Onsen was nice to sit and see the view of one island, it was overcast with rain expected. I would highly recommend this hotel. Took the bus from FUKUYAMA and the stop is a five minute walk. Fare is 520 yen. Easy to navigate.
• Verified traveler (10/5): お料理が美味しいです - 5人での女子旅でした。従業員の方々も親切で明るく気遣いも最高でした。 何と言ってもお食事が良かったです。お夕食は食べられないほどのボリュームで、とても丁寧に作ってあり、お味も見た目も最高でした。朝食は和食か洋食か選べますが私たちは和食にしました。和食はご飯かおかゆを選べました。洋食のクロワッサンも人気があるようです。次回は是非洋食をたのんでみたいと思います。お部屋からは瀬戸内海を一望できて眺めも最高でした。
• Eimear (10/5): Great stay with great food - Beautiful traditional Japanese experience. Staff were all super helpful, even if english wasn’t always the best they made a real effort to communicate regardless. Rooftop public bath was beautiful. It was the most expensive stay of our trip but included 10 course dinner and lovely traditional breakfast.

• YONG SANG (8/5): 바다 전망 정말 좋아요 - 직원분들 친절하고 노천탕 바다 전망이 정말 정말 좋음 근데 씻고 탕에 들어가란 안내판이 없어서인지...나 있는 동안엔 다들 옷벗고 탕으로 직행해서 놀랬음 그래서 인지 물에도 (많진 않지만) 이물질이 한 두개 떠다녔음 저녁도 준수하고 근처 마을이 너무 이쁨 점심은 @카페 훌륭!
• El Pulpo Flamen (8/5): Ebookers overcharged 2 adults + baby as 3 adults - Hotel is very pleasant, several different furo´s, you get most out of it is you want japanese experience, tatami room, furo several times a day, dinners spectacular but runnning bit out of ideas on 3rd dinner as we had no meat wish. all seafood superb. Natural park starts on island Sensui-jima just in front of village, excellent for swimming, hiking. and you find good places to lunch there. Tomonouro is very pleasant fisherman village, walking distance all over, couple of small museums, several temples
