Guest Reviews
- John (10/5): - Comfortable air conditioned rooms.
- Kaya (10/5): Perfect for solo travel - This was the perfect place for a solo traveler. Perfect location and budget friendly. The room is small, but it well kept. Service is absolutely amazing. The staff was able to help me plan around my flexible dates (I was here to get a visa and all of my dates revolved around that) and even offered to hold my bags after checkout while I went to my embassy. I would highly recommend thanks to their exceptional service!
- Michael (10/5): - tammi 10/10 :) really nice staff
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Elevator until 7th floor but we have to go down the stairs, 2 flights down to go to our room with just us carrying our luggages. It was not stated in any of the listing.
Sink was the same size as our head and bound by walls on 3 sides so we have to squeeze in our head.
Location wise we’re very happy with it. Very near the mtr and also the important parts of the city.
- grace (6/5): - room small
- Elizabeth (10/5): Enjoyable stay in unique hotel - The most quirky hotel I have stayed in over 30 years of visiting Hong Kong. Great value and the terrace was very pleasant. 24 hour check in was helpful when flight arrived at going on 02.00 am.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - yay! good! interesting basin! tiny balcony! great for quick stay!
- Shu Ting Letty (8/5): Nice small cozy room - The room is small but neat. Air-con nice and quiet. Gd decor.
It would be better if there r hooks in washroom for hanging clothings.
- KWEKUAMONOO (10/5): - Particularly like the old World fixtures and general vintage Hong Kong decor of the Mingle by the Park rooms. The attached balcony is a wonderful addition. During my last stay, I noted an antique bird cage affixed on the balcony's roof...a small and yet visually splendid added fixture. Having stayed there more than ten times, the staff makes it a point to make me feel welcome(d) and I have had nary a problem issue during my tenure as a guest.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A short stay, booked at last minute. Room was clean, but small. No window, except in bathroom. Still good value. Check in and out was efficient.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - It has no entrance door at all very poor security and plenty of stairs
- Udai RAJ (4/5): Is nice location so I think need improvement - First off all at night sift people r so rude and they don’t have any smile on face when see any customer. And room is bigger but charge money like 4 star hotel but service and cleaning is like guesthouse sorry is true.😔
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very good location. Decent renovations. Interesting roof top
- Bernard (8/5): Clean and comfortable - Comfortable and clean. Very good location. Staff friendly & 24 hr reception. An older building but well maintained. Some one was smoking in their room, and set off extremely loud fire alarm at 4am, but confirmed to me the building is well maintained.
One odd thing, the secondary access had no door at street level and you wonder what prevents anyone waking up the fire stair but I think the cameras are watched by reception.
I nevertheless had no problems.
Stay here it's good.
- Raymond (6/5): - Clearly an old property which has been/is being upgraded. Impression of work in progress.Bathroom and electrical upgrades quite good. Room decorations and furnishings poor.
- Melvin De Castro (4/5): - Actually the room is very small, its very different from the picture in the online, and please put a lift or elevator... coz its very difficult to the customer that when they come back to the hotel, they need to go up by the stairs.... so very tiring!!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is out of my expectation. The Room is clean, new and comfortable. Everything I need are provided (shampoo, dental kit...). I would like to stay in in the near future.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Mingle place - It was okay place to stay but I wish the bathroom sink was more usable, I was using the shower as the sink instead. The wifi was decent, the bed was nice and comfortable and have the place cleaned up everyday.
- Jeremy (10/5): - Very well located. Staffs were friendly and the hotel was very very clean. Had a wonderful stay at this place. Highly recommended!
Location was perfect.
- thomas (8/5): - Its ok for the price you pay
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Except no lift n had to walk four floors the rest were good
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was clean, everything worked. Nice balcony. Very easy walking distance to the pubs around Wan Chai
- John (10/5): Close to restaurants, busses, trams and MTR - I’ve stayed in Hong Kong many times and this is always my first choice of hotel. It’s convenient for shops, restaurants and a 24 hour MacDonalds just up the street. Staff are efficient; the room is small but comfortable. The only minus is there’s no lift and steep stairs over 5 floors, but access via the next door hotel (Mingle with the Star) which has a lift and then through a connecting door and just a few steps down to my room. The price per room depends on demand, as throuout Hong Kong, but the location is so convenient so I keep returning here and will continue to do so.
- C (8/5): - A hotel close to Wan Chai station. Rooms are decorated with a mid-20th-century Hong Kong style. Quite interesting. Quite convenient to access to wanchai or causeway bay. Could have been better if the blinds are fixed and if I'd had a bigger sink.
- Laiman (8/5): - their bed are too short & not so comfortable for tall person like me especially when the room style has an enclosed cupboard at the end of the bed.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - So little space, always hitting into things. no space to walk around
- Liam (2/5): Worst hotel I've ever stayed at. - An absolute Pig Sty. Then they tried to rip me for 50 dollars for a towel they said was stained and the stain would come out. I asked for the towel. They brought me the towel. They hadn't even tryed to wash it. I took the towel washed it with hair shampoo in the bathroom sink and in 3 miniutes it was perfect. I returned the towel to the front desk and told the front desk person I didn't come to your hotel to get ripped off, listen to your Bull**** and live in a pig sty.
- kenny (8/5): If you like wkw films u will like this hotel - Overall is a decent hotel at a prime location surrounded with good food . I stayed on the second level so climbing up the stairs on a cooling day isn't that bad . I cant imagine in summer n climbing up fifth level ... haha .. The room is comfortable but not your hotel standard it has this rustic charm of an old hotel room that you sees in Wong Kai Wai’s films like Fallen Angel , Happy Together & in the mood for love etc ... thats why i choose this hotel .
- Catherine (8/5): Cheap, Clean, Comfortable - Its tiny rooms are clean and generally open onto a little balcony. Its cheap and conviniently located in Wan Chai
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good Business Hotel - The staff is really cool.
It's a short walk from Wanchai station, and there's a ton of shops nearby.
The rooms differ dramatically. You'll get more for a little more. By the Park and With the Stars are also quite different.
It could be cleaner, but honestly that's the guests' fault. The staff puts in the work, but a fair amount of guests are just dirty. It's a small business, so they can't clean all day.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Service and conditions on par with the price, the room was really really small and not recommend if you have luggage as there is no elevator. However after all it was a good place to stay for the price in a good location in hk.
- andy (6/5): You get what you pay for, - For the price it was ok and as a single traveler I would book again, but may be not so suitable for a couple, the staff are friendly and helpful and it is in a good location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean and spacious - Clean and spacious.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice small room except for the stairs. - The hotel is adjacent to another Mingle property a few doors down, linked on 1st and 7th floors. Mingle at the park does not have an elevator, why I didn't rate it higher. 3 flights of stairs are hard on me. I tried to change rooms to the other property, mingle with the stars, but didn't like one room and the other was too expensive.
There was an exhibition that weekend and all hotels in the area were about double normal prices.
The room was clean and comfortable if a little small. Hand an antique she looking old china decor which I liked, but the blinds were damaged.
Wifi was ok.
I chose this hotel because it was lower priced of those in wanchai, but it's a long walk to the wan chai night life area, several hundred yards to wanchai station.
The description incorrectly states that you have to make prior arrangements to check in. Actually you check in at the mingle with the stars reception which covers both properties.
No dining area. McDonalds across the street.
- Lionel (8/5): Good room - Good room conditions well furnished but just need climb stairs
- Stefan (8/5): Old fashioned great location! - I lived the character of the place. Old fashioned feel to it. Amazing location. Close to MTR, bus stops and shops.
- Roydon (10/5): This is Hong Kong. - This hotel is a makeover of an old walk-up which I really appreciate. The rooms are tiny but has everything in it. I was traveling solo so I had no problems staying at this hotel for 2 weeks. Great neighborhood.
- John (8/5): Mingle by the Park - This hotel has very small rooms and very steep stairs, and there's no lift, although access can be made at Mingle Star hotel next door which involves taking the lift to floor 7 then crossing the roof and going down the steep stairs. This might put some people off but it's a hotel which covers all the basic requirements albeit on a small scale. The area is excellent for eating and access to busses, trams and MTR.
- Carl (6/5): Get what you pay for....well, most of it. - You can't ask for a better location. I also love how private it is. The room is too small and has a horrible layout. There is only one electrical outlet in the entire room and it is not convenient to the bed. The TV is horrible and complicated. When I checked in, no one oriented me to where to find remotes, how to use the TV or air conditioner, etc. Also, it was not explained that if you told the maid service to come back, they would not come back at all. I was still in the room and wanted some more time. I told the maid staff (in Chinese and English) to come back in an hour. They never came back. There are so many quirky things about the room (the water needs to run 40 seconds before it is hot, you can't turn the air conditioner on below a certain number, shut the door to make sure the steam doesn't trigger the alarm, etc, etc.) These rules were tedious and not addressed during check-in. The person at the front desk was incapable of making suggestions about restaurants or points of interest. Actually, the person at the front desk only has English ability to facilitate check-in and check-out. They were incapable of any other conversation or recommendations. And the room is tiny. I just want to reiterate that. I could stand in the middle and touch both walls. The bathroom sink is the smallest I had ever seen. The price was right, the location was amazing, and my overall stay was decent, but if you are at all picky, skip this hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location, no frills, decent value. - Basic accommodation but very convenient location. It's an old building so no lift. Can be a hassle carrying luggage upstairs in 30 degree heat. Staff are pleasant enough to deal with, but it's no frills service.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Super location and simple room - We stayed in the room with two twin beds. It was awesome having the windows facing the street and the location is excellent too! We didn't need hotel services, but check-in and out was totally easy. The bathroom and mirror was tiny but sufficient. We were not in the room often but we did sleep just fine. Don't expect a spotless place considering the typical old Hong Kong infrastructure style apartments that is hard to upkeep/maintain. The price was great too! We have average expectations and the place was perfect for us.
- Poo Lin (8/5): Very excellent location - The hotel is centrally located in the Wan Chai area, and very close to shops, restaurants, trams, buses and the subway. So, the location gets top marks. The room I had was tiny, basically, open the door and fall on the bed, sort of space. But clean, hot water, and the staff were very helpful. The only downside is the lack of lifts, which meant lugging heavy bags up the stairs myself, and lugging heavier bags down at checkout time. For someone who shopped to the limit, the bit was slightly nightmarish.
- Verified traveler (2/5): This is not even a $30 night hotel - I don't understand that Hotel.com can propose an hotel with high price like this.
Only few room can be access by elevator, the others good luck if you have 2 luggage each.
Most of the room have no windows, it's so small that you don't even have the space to put your luggage. So if you are even a little claustrophobic, you should look for another hotel. The specialty of there is that you can find an each of dust and some old food under the bed.
Anyway it is not worth the price propose for a room, you can find similar room clean in other hotel in HK for $30 a night.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Convenient - Rooms are small
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very good location - Good location for transport, food hunt, shopping but the humidity and moist in the room should be improve. These creates some kind of odor but we are fine. Love how the hotel preserve the heritage look of the old HK building! Please maintain as it is! *although some might need to repair!
**cleaner are friendlier than the receptionist!
- Chui Li (8/5): Very clean hotel - Toilet door couldnt open or close on the first day but they fixed it on the next day
- Bluesky (8/5): Great location, as per mentioned by others. - Cosy little hotel that situated in the heart of a busy town.
Easy access to lots of nice eateries shops, supermarkets and public transport (e.g. MTR station, Bus/tram stops, etc.).
Only few drawbacks are as follow:
- room space not enough to accommodate bulky-build person (especially if you have loads of stuff); pretty difficult to turn around.
- some of the receptionists are not that friendly type.
- shower gel/body wash quantity seems too little.
- pretty tiring to climb flights of stairs up and down (also pretty narrow).
Plus points:
- There is one friendly and warm receptionist that help me with my quires.
- The housekeeping staffs (02 nice Thai ladies) also very accommodative and helpful.
- Once again, great location with loads of nice eateries (which is one of HKG specialities), shops and easy access to other part of Hong Kong.
- Price seems pretty decent for that location + living space.
- Gab (8/5): Cosy, quaint, with street noise - The smallness of the rooms is unsurprising given the location, as is the considerable street noise from Wan Chai Rd, but nevertheless rooms are pleasant and clean and transactions with staff were straightforward.
- Dustin (6/5): Convenient, Close to Everything - Decent place to stay - very convenient location right on Wan Chai road, close to tons of restaurants, buses, and trams, very easy to get to everywhere in HK. Concept is super cute and fairly well executed. My Double Room is comfortable and clean overall. Totally understand it's Hong Kong and places are small, but it's still tinier than expected. There's barely any room to turn around when inside the bathroom, and likewise in the living room. Note that check-in is next door at Mingle with the Star. Your options to get to your room are either taking the elevator up at The Star and then walk back down to your room, or walking up directly from the green stairs.
- ian (4/5): I wouldn't stay here again however cheap it might - No lift so had to carry my heavy suitcase up 3 flights of stairs. Reception didn't offer any assistance. A cleaner actually helped me with my laptop bag. Traffic noise was horrendous as old wooden patio doors were single glazed and huge gaps. Window blinds didn't cut out the light from outside.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable room in the middle of Wan Chai - Good location in the middle of Wan Chai. The room was clean and warm, the double bed comfortable and the shower nice and hot. A tiny bit cramped but had everything i need for my stay. The staff organised a taxi for my ridiculously early flight and were generally helpful.
- Verified traveler (4/5): No elevator, had to carry baggage to 4th floor ! - Never knew there were no elevators in this hotel. No one helped me carry my heavy baggage to my room on the 4th floor and that's ridiculous. It should have been mentioned in your hotel info.
- Steve (8/5): - Room is small, bed is short, I fit ok, but barely, I am 6'1". There is no room for a dresser. Two people would be cramped. It is a walk up. My room was a four story walk up. I did not mind, others might.
Mattress was thin and firm. Fine for me. Staff was very nice and helpful. I liked the location, a variety of restaurants and a quick 10 minute walk to the convention center.
- charlie (2/5): One word... disgusting - The worst hotel I've been to in my life so far...
I had to change of room a first time because it was invested of bed bugs... I've been complaining so they gave me another room in an other building. It was as dirty as the previous one but at least it didn't look there was bed bugs. I had to change a second time because they gave me 2 single bed instead of a double bedroom. Finally, the third room was ok but still disgusting... only the bed and the toilet are clean. The rest is terrible!!!
The staff is not friendly... they make you feel awkward when you ask something.
I will never come back there again! And I really don't recommend it even as a top budget hotel. You would find better hostels.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall the service is good, but only thing is no elevator.
- Johan (6/5): Convenient location in Wan Chai - Room very small, and I got a smaller and different one than what I had booked online, and certainly without the promised balcony (not that I had planned to use it anyway but right should be right). Can however see myself staying there again though since getting a cheaper room at that location is not easy. I am 178 cm tall and the bed in that room was in between two walls and I just fit in. Taller persons would have a challenge in that room. Do not expect any luxury whatsoever. It is a place to sleep. No more, no less.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice and full of character hotel despite negatives - It it overall a pleasant stay although having stayed at Mingle Place chained hotels in other locations also this one (Mingle by the Park), I must stress that their service standard has gone down, particularly on the front reception staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice budget hotel, good location. The room was clean and the staff was helpful.
- Eric (6/5): - Good stay but found a dead cockroach in the closet
- Verified traveler (6/5): Room with special declaration - Interesting room
- umesh k. (6/5): average - my room was on 4th floor. but there was no lift service. only this is a minus point of the hotel.
- Verified traveler (2/5): I check out after the first day of my two days' st - Do you expect to climb staircase in your stay in the 21st century hotel
- cheng kin (6/5): ok,high cp value - Good location, good movie, good price
- Zulema (6/5): Charming but a bit too small - It's a very charming hotel with a little balcony in the room but the room itself was very tightly packed. We expected it to be small, as per HK standards, but the bed is so huge (but very comfy, I have to say) that it takes all the space.
- Tak Yee (2/5): Disappointed - It was a disappointed stay. Receptionist was rude and I felt unwelcome. We stayed at level 7 but there was only 1 lift serving highest to level 5, so you got to climb the stairs after that. The room was not well maintained and we found hair at the bathroom, basin was rather small, I could hardly wash my hands, so forget about brushing your teeth there. Sound proof was bad as well, could hear people chatting at the staircase. Location was not bad though, 10-15mins walk to mtr and there are tram services nearby the hotel. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel for its price are not worth it at all.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Not bad for a boutique hotel - Great
- Verified traveler (8/5): A good budget option in Hong Kong - We stayed four nights in a superior double room, paying between 45-57USD a room. The room was rather small but well decorated, with a decent size bathroom. The location is fantastic and is in the bustling heart of Wanchai, which means you're walking distance from both the subway, trams, and buses, but also signifies that the neighbourhood is pretty noisy, though with some great food options. As two people who used to live in HK and who have stayed in some truly terrible hotels for the same price, we thought it to be good value for the city and a good place to explore the town from. We extended our stay for a night when we were there and will likely come back next time we are in town. Likewise, friends in the city thought it a good price for the location. Rooms in this town are typically tiny and this one was no exception, so we'd advise booking a superior double room if you want a semi-normal size.
- Greg (6/5): Where the action is. - Small but comfortable air-conditioned rooms with all that one needs. Comfortable full size bed and quaint old style Hong Kong decor. Most importantly, cheap. You won't get much help from the staff though.
Wanchai has it all in terms of good restaurants, bars, entertainment and shopping and this hotel is in the thick of it. Yes it's odd and noisy but if you want ordinary and quiet you should stay at home. I've stayed here 3 times and while it's not everyone's cup of tea, I must say I like it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient to everywhere - Short walk to many famous eateries. Good to have lift to every floor but it was good for travelers who are out most of the time.
- Verified traveler (6/5): good location - it's a good location but the room is too small.
- Xavier (8/5): Good location and comfortable room - The location of the hotel is good, very close from the tramway and metro and with a lot of restaurants nearby.
The room is clean and the size of the bed is normal (we went in another hotel in Hong Kong where the bed was small). The shower is good as well. The room is quite small but still very OK compared to other budget hotels in Hong Kong.
Only negative point for me was the noise coming from the street but it didn't prevent me from sleeping (with earplugs). I would advice to ask a room that is not street side.
- Sara (10/5): Charming - I stayed one night here and found it delightful. It is in an old apartment building converted to a hotel and the owner wanted to keep it in the theme of the apartments. There is a small balcony and The bathroom is a bit small. The room looks out on wan chai road which is busy, so it gets a bit noisy. If you need to sleep in a cone of silence, bring earplugs.
The location is great, very close to the tram and wan chai MTR station.
- Yee Fei L. (8/5): Good location - Value for money, nearby shop and restaurants. I would definitely come back to this hotel again. Front desk is friendly and efficient. Cleanliness level is higher than average. I would also recommend this hotel to friends and family... Location, sizable room, good neiboughring and eatery..... This is my forth stay in this hotel.........
Kudos to staff and room keeper to maintain the condition of hotel and room....
- CRAIG (8/5): a night to remember - first time staying in this hotel, had a relaxing time even only there for the one night still felt good.
one main point fault that must be mentioned after checking-in was told to go back out reception area and 3 doors down go to 4th floor - NO LIFT!!!! I had two bags with me one was heavy not the perfect way to told at the end destination climb 4 floors to your room with no assistance. that is my only fault apart from this my time a Mingle was good and would stay again but with less bags. hotel was on Wan Chai road where I have stayed before excellent location for making your stay in HK the best possible everything at your door step and if not MTR is 10mins walk away, TIME SQUARE is 15mins walk again an excellent area for all your needs.

Not pricey hotel, but staff very willing to help
- Very Convenient (8/5): Bijou and Eclectic - Charming hotel in the penzione style. Have stayed there on a few occasions. Very well thought out design to maximise space. Rooms (and beds) on the small size but adequate. Staff are friendly and great, location could hardly be better.
Only caveat would be to note there is no lift, so I would not recommend to anyone who can't walk up a few flights of stairs.
- Jesse (10/5): - Facilities: Modern; Value: Economical; Service: Good; Cleanliness: Pleasant;
Big balcony
- Ricky (8/5): - Facilities: Everyday; Value: Average price; Service: Sufficient; Cleanliness: Clean;
- keith (6/5): - Facilities: Shabby; Value: Moderate; Service: Rude; Cleanliness: Tidy;
- Gary Chu (2/5): If HEAVY luggage, don't choice! - No lift and it is required to move up by myself. Small room and too noisy!
- Qattara (6/5): Small but cheap - Hotel is three blocks away Wan Chai MTR Station who is two stations from Central Station. Clean, nice staff but we ask for a two-single bed room and they send us to a "semi-double" bed. I´ve never been in such small hotel room, i guess is part of the charm of Hong Kong. We only stay for a night. Crowded and nice neighborhood. Good food.
