Guest Reviews
- Debra (8/5): - Our stay was nice and the staff was friendly. The resort had beautiful grounds and lots of things for kids to do. The room was spacious, but it could use some updating. I did not like that there was no refrigerator in the room. I would go back though.
- William (8/5): - The premises need maintenance.
- silviya (10/5): - Great place. Clean and friendly
- William (6/5): - Family friendly resort
Breakfast included
Comfortable German bar
Saturday night dance party
Great value for the price
Negative:
Rooms need updating and airing out, musty smell
No bathroom amenities except a bar of soap
- Alfredo (10/5): - Very good 😊
- KATHY (6/5): - It is lodge . Smell is old , not pleasant .
- Anthony (10/5): Super family friendly resort - We loved this resort. We rented 2 rooms and had them side by side and our rooms where in the Alpinhause (I’m sure I butchered the spelling). This one is very convenient to the main building that has the restaurant, bar, game room, and indoor pool.
My family came for a ski weekend at Hunter. I don’t ski so I really loved the ability to have things to do when others where skiing. It’s about a 30 minute drive to Hunter, but my husband said it wasn’t a big deal.
Bar was great. Food was great as well. They even have lunch and dinner that you can pay onsite for.
Rooms are good size. Not cramped at all. This is not a fancy resort. Don’t expect big squishy beds. But it is a family run resort that is super family friendly and well worth the money. And don’t forget to bring your own towels for the pool and hot tub.
My kids loved it and asked when we could go back. They even had a DJ fun night with karaoke that my kids participated in. Thanks for the memories. We will be back. Jennifer
- Marina (10/5): Fun family stay - Great friendly family oriented environment. The rooms are very simple but clean and warm. What’s great is the common space with a bar and a game room and live entertainment on Saturdays. My son and I booked this place at the last minute for skiing and we had a blast at a karaoke party with all the guests.
- Caroline (10/5): - Great family friendly place. Kids loved the pool and hot tub. The included breakfast was delicious and dinner was amazing. It snowed heavily and the pathways and roads were cleared quickly. Everyone was very friendly. We will def come back and want to check it out in the summer.
- Luc (10/5): - Spacious rooms, great atmosphere, good food.
- ANDRES (10/5): - The place was clean and the indoors pool was great
- Trish (10/5): - This resort was a hidden gem. The on site hiking was beautiful. Rooms were clean and breakfast was delicious. Hope to be back in the fall.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Less than 2 hours from NY/NJ and you feel like you are in the Alps! Beautiful, quiet, great staff, good old-fashioned nightly entertainment and relaxing pools and hot tubs. Shuffleboard, tennis, basketball, hiking, biking, etc. Perfect get-away-from-it-all vacation!!!
- Cynthia (10/5): Little get away with the family - This is a very nice place. Would have liked to have a little more information about meal choices and what the days activities were when we checked in but overall we enjoyed our time there. The breakfast was good and the service very friendly.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It has unique atmosphere of German community.
But we wish to have at least a small fridge in the room, and ability to order meals in the resort restaurant if you did not buy the 3 course meal when you book
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely place
- john (10/5): Quaint place - Great little place to stay for skiing Hunter or Wyndham. Friendly staff, complimentary home style breakfast. Quiet rooms. Will definitely be returning.
- Elena (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay! Anita and the family was very helpful! Food was delicious!
- Thomas (10/5): Great vacation. - It was a great experience. If you enjoy the outdoors you will love it. Trails everywhere. Waterfalls and scenic views. Great deal with the meals included.
- agata (8/5): Nice weekend - It was very nice to stayed in that hotel, lots of things to do! Beautiful views on mountains.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Had a great stay. Property is basic but warm and friendly. Very convenient to Wyndham and Hunter Mountain. Good breakfast.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Didnt like paper- thin walls ....Extemely loud neighbors kept us awake all night. Sounded like fighting, body- slammng, running up and down stairs. We could hear snoring from neighbor's room, as well. Also, no hairdryer or bath products provided, no microwave or coffee pot, and no phone in the room. Attractive place in a kitschy way, though.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Absolute gem. Beautiful, large, clean property packed with amenities, including indoor and outdoor pools, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, tennis court, driving range, basketball court, children’s park, horse shoe pit, shuffle board, hiking trails, game room with pool table, outdoor beer garden, and many more. Clean rooms, friendly staff and delicious meals (with an all inclusive option for 3 meals a day). We thought we were coming to simple a hotel with a pool and we were amazed by the experience of an entire resort with staff that makes you feel like family. The pictures and the online descriptions do not do this place justice. Highly recommended. Great for couples, families with children and large groups. I rarely leave reviews; this resort deserves the applause. (Stayed August 2019)
- Jessie (10/5): Wonderful family resort - This is a wonderfully low-key resort for families. The staff were all friendly, professional and helpful. My kids loved the option of having an indoor AND outdoor pool. The room was very clean and as described. There is so much to do in the area in addition to activities on the grounds.
Only downsides...make sure you are in the main lodge for breakfast at 8:30 as it ends at 9. The whole place could use a little cosmetic refresh, nothing major just some new outdoor furniture, paint.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff was friendly and helpful. Food was great. A lot of things to do with the kids: pool, tennis and basketball courts, playground. The only issue we had to deal with was German pop music playing all day long, it’d have been nice to have a break from it for a bit. We understand that’s the part of overall experience, but some people would rather listen to the sounds of nature that is just amazing around there. However, next time we would just request the room further from the main office building to avoid this problem.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The stay was overall one of the best. The pool was clean, I saw some of the older reviews bash it but not in my case. Hot tub/jacuzzi was good too. The only thing is that you have to bring your own towel to the pool you can’t use their own towels. Breakfast was delicious and good! I really don’t have anything bad to say.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Easy simple check in. Nice and friendly staff. Room was simple but did have enough room for 4 adults. No microwave or mini fridge and didn’t provide phones in the room. If you need to speak to the front desk you have to use your cell phones (good thing there was cell service in the area). Didn’t get a chance to use the pool or hot tub. However, there was a sign that states you cannot use the room towels for the pool and that they do not provide any and must bring own. They did provide free hot breakfast which was great! Check out process was easy as well. Location was not too bad, just 25 minutes from Windham mountain however longer depending on road conditions.
- Naymeng (8/5): Pretty neat place!! - Loved the family feel.. All staff are friendly. Convenient to have a bar there. Breakfast was the Best bfast we have ever had included with a hotel. Critique: hot tub was not hot we couldn't enjoy it. And I thought for the price there would be a microwave and small fridge but there was not. There was definitely room to have these things in the room. Lots of space!!
- Carol (8/5): - Fun, old fashioned German style resort. Friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The people who work at bed & breakfast were so friendly. Breakfast family style was a nice way to start the day.
- Susan (8/5): - Easy to find. Not too far outside the NYC metro area. Picturesque area of the Catskills. Clean pools and hot tubs, both indoor and outdoor. We didn't use the workout room but it also looked clean and functional.
You can buy an all-inclusive plan or you can buy meals as needed and the drinks at the bar are very reasonably priced. Food is German style so the of meat-and-potato type of fare. It's not a menu that you choose from; it's like when Mom cooks at home: one of the same meal served to everyone. Kid-friendly organized group activity after dinner. Rooms have all the basics you could need.
This is not some frilly spa so please don't come here if you're high maintenance. But if you want clean lodging with pools, and a family-friendly environment, this a very nice, authentic mountain lodge.
- rick (6/5): German themed old fashioned - Another guest drove 10 hours to return back to this hotel following childhood memories
The German theme runs through thick
Nice land around
I enjoyed the in door pool while my family liked the outside pool
The decorations are very simple and rustic from the 1960s
The mattress was terrible
- Alexandra (10/5): - Pleasantly surprised by this family oriented resort. Rooms are basic but big and clean. Pools and grounds are kept very nice, and breakfast was fantastic. Service was great - had a wonderful stay overall.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Was very family friendly and we had a comfortable stay with our littleness kids. The breakfast was very good
- Claire (8/5): Rustic resort - We stayed over 1 night as we were up there for a wedding; cannot comment on activities, but their included breakfast was great! Met people with children who keep coming back, so that speaks for itself. Resort is nestled into a beautiful area and also offers night entertainment.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful location, great service and great food! Will definitely visit again. Quintessential Catskill experience.
- Cyrenna (10/5): Best Get Away Ever!!! - This was like we went back in time so much fun. The Saturday night party was awesome and the German dancing was fantastic, The service was awesome. It was like we were part of their family!!!! The Food was delicious and the Beer Garden was fabulous and the food and spirits was awesome there too. The Mrs. even came by our table to say goodbye and make sure we had a nice stay at our last day breakfast. The pool was nice and clean...and plenty of hiking trails and and things to do on site as well as places to go all around.
We didn't want to leave! Can't wait to go back!
- Christine (8/5): Great value for the price - Swimming pool was great, staff were great and the resort is incredibly clean. There was a DJ on Saturday night playing music for the whole family, and the bar was full with a mixture of hotel guests and locals. Menu options are limited during the week, with a bigger menu on the weekends. Breakfast was great every day.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place - We came across this resort on travelocity and so happy we stayed there. We went snow tubing at Hunter and stayed the night wish we know about it sooner because we would have stayed longer.
- Loredana (6/5): Greysh - We stayed there for one night but not planning to go back. I made last minute reservations so I cannot complain too much. The room was smeling at fisrt and felt cold and unwelcome . It was cleaned but not inviting... It's a family busines and the property seems to be taken care of. The only thing I did not like was the request to add gratuity when I checked in. It was added to the bill ...not mandatory but suggested. Anyway I was not found of that ...since I did not eat there but went ahead and okayed the charge.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pool left me wanting more - Everything was wonderful.. the pool deck inside was peeling and got stuck to my feet
- Adam (10/5): Great family vacation!!! - Super friendly family run resort. I stayed two nights with my 12 and 13 year old daughters and my sister also came with two of her kids. They loved the warm indoor pool, hottube, and game room! Staff is family run, and super friendly. They also had a Saturday evening disco for all ages, and we enjoyed skiing nearby and also hiking on beautiful trails. I look forward to going back!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great time, staff was nice, food was yummy and my kids had a good time in the hot tub and pool. We went their for skiing at Hunter Mtn.
- Hans (6/5): Too little comfort/amenities for the money. - No heating in bathroom - toilet paper was too thin - TV could only be watched from one bed - there no wastepaper basket in bedroom - no coffee maker either - no info book/only basic info sheet on the wall -
dinner was buffet style; however, offered only one course=you either ate it or went hungry to bed.
- James (8/5): great hidden mountain resort - we came because we saw great reviews (they were right) and dicovered it it german themed. found ourselves in the middle of a festival and had a great time. We have already booked for next year.
- Warren (10/5): - Very pleasant stay. Met lot of nice people. Breakfast was delicious. Very close to my family's home. And I will stay there in the future
- Verified traveler (8/5): Tough to RATE - This is a very hard place to rate!!!! The service, food, and the overall experience great!!!! The rooms need update and some work. But the people are the BEST!!!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): A Wonderful, Family-Friendly Place - This resort rates five stars because of the amazingly courteous and helpful people running it. While most things are a little dated, they are clean and in good condition. There were plenty of activities on the resort property that my boys enjoyed. In fact, we skipped plans to go to a nearby festival because the resort was so inviting. Best of all, there German music, dancing, and beer on weekend evenings. It is an"old school" truly family owned and operated resort that exceeded our expectations in every way possible. Highly recommend this place for families, especially those with young children. A safe, welcoming wnvironment with good food and great service!
- John (8/5): Like going to grandmas house for the weekend - Riedlbauers is charming, down to earth and rustic. It was below zero all weekend and the rooms stayed warm. Restaurant, bar and hot tub were just a few steps away and were all great, and the awesome breakfast was perfect before a day of sking. Def coming back for a simple weekend getaway.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Can't wait to come back! - Nicest staff. Clean rooms and facilities. Great stay overall. Will be coming back for another ski weekend!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Fine for an overnight ski trip - The hostess was great and welcoming. The room was more like a motel with no hair dryer or coffee maker. There was an indoor pool and hot tub which was one of the reasons we chose this place. We did like the hot breakfast they served. Overall it met our needs and expectation for a short sky trip.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not worth it ... - Room was very outdated. There were no complimentary toiletries so I could not even wash my hair. The room had a "smell" to it. The heat was not turned in the room for our arrival and it took almost all night to warm up. Best pet was included breakfast. Definitely over-priced for what it was. Do not recommend it.
