Guest Reviews
- Jill (7/5): This is a perfectly comfortable and clean lodging - The location suited us. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The manager was lovely and helpful. Ice machine wasn’t working and no breakfast other than packaged food actually was available due to staffing shortage.
- Judy Johnson (8/5): No frills but good atmosphere. - Location. Quiet. Clean. Wonderful staff. No open office upon arrival or for breakfast.
- John (8/5): Cozy place with friendly staff - Convenient location close to the interstate and the black hills entrance Parking was cramped
- Jeremiah (7/5): -
- Eric (7/5): Nothing special, some minor repairs could be done. - It was quiet. There was a bed and a place to charge my electronics. Notification that guest services (breakfast, laundry, office hours) were not available when booking. If I had know the services were not available, I would have found other accommodations
- Bonnie (9/5): -
- Anna (7/5): - There wasn't available coffee.
- Albert (9/5): -
- Bingxiu (10/5): -
- Lloyd (8/5): -

- nancy (10/5): - Easy to get to room
- Andy (10/5): - Easy to get to and great accommodations.
- Mary (8/5): - Really lovely owner and staff 😊 We were made to feel very welcome! Very clean, great location in Sundance. Neither of our beds were very comfortable, but an easy fix with new mattresses.
- Joanne (10/5): - Great business!
- ML (7/5): - חדר נחמד ומאובזר, יחס טוב בקבלה. המיטה הייתה קטנה מדי לזוג, המזרן רך מאד, והכריות חסרות מילוי. לא ישנו כל הלילה.
- Justin (2/5): - This is the dirtiest nastiest crack house style motel I have ever seen. Boom this room and you will regret it between the dried commit in the room heater to the dead bugs in the room and the chemical air fresheners trying to cover the smell of the 30yo beds my wife wouldn’t even sleep in the sheets let alone shower here. Then had to fight for 4 days to get refund of the room fees for cancelling early from the stay cause it was so disgusting don’t let the fraudulent reviews fool you this place is gross!
- Ellen (10/5): - Nice staff, rooms were comfy and quiet,
- Mark (8/5): - Very clean!
- Dana (10/5): - My daughter and I appreciated the cleanliness of the room and the kindness of the owner and staff. Parking was unique and allowed close proximity to our room which was very nice. If/when we return to the area we will certainly stay again!
- Eric (6/5): -
- sharon (9/5): -
- Emmanuelle (9/5): - Très bon accueil, personnel très agréable, chambre confortable, bon rapport qualité-prix.
- Mary (10/5): - This was a very clean motel. Excellent staff from check in to check out. Would totally recommend.
- Tammy Shulin (8/5): -
- Gayle (10/5): - A bit noisy
- Navina (10/5): - The property's location is good and safe, with parking available. The staff were very nice and accommodating with my late check-in. Thank you so much.
- P (8/5): - De kamer was erg schoon . Fijn bed lekker warme douche. Er zat ontbijt bij maar dat bestond uit .SLAP KOFFIE EN DROGE KOEKEN. geen warm water voor de thee . Mag de naam ontbijt eigenlijk niet hebben.
- Paul (8/5): -
- Karen (8/5): Comfortable and clean - Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast limited but OK. Would have been good to have a coffee machine/kettle in the room. Parking within the hotel compound safe and handy.
- Kaylene (8/5): - Would suggest putting small coffee maker in the room so early risers can get their caffeine 😁
Staff was very pleasant-area was walkable to bars & restaurants
- Beth (1/5): Very very sad $157 for one night ridiculous no ice no breakfast no hot water - It had a bed We arrived in the hotel lobby was closed. Our key was in an envelope in a box. It was very dark. They advertise that they have breakfast 7 o'clock in the morning. The lobby is still dark and no breakfast to be found no staff to ask questions ice machine is out of order. Took 15 minutes to get hot water. we ended up parking on a side street with no street lights.
- Amy (6/5): - People were right outside my door. And someone was vacuuming around midnight
- Heather (10/5): - Loved it. Would recommend and would stay again!
- Alexander (8/5): - Old school spot. Actual keys. Not a lot of amenities but good sized and comfortable rooms and friendly staff. The beds were not the best but not the worst. Seems like a family business so supporting them is great.
- Steve (2/5): - The staff was terrible, always had to ring bell for service, breakfast was only for an hour, they nneed to up date. I won’t be referring them to anyone or returning
- Lisa (8/5): Comfy bed - We arrived after hours so the keys were left in a box with our name on it. The young guy was there anyway to greet us. Very friendly! Bed was comfy and there's a great place across the street to eat. Room could use a little updating and we are on the bottom floor so we could hear the people upstairs quite a bit. Not a deal breaker though. We would stay again!
- Christine (9/5): -
- Leslie (10/5): - Staff extremely helpful
- Debbie (6/5): - No interaction with any staff at all. Kinda weird but not a problem.
- Bruce (8/5): - The courtyard parking is fantastic. Rooms clean and comfortable. Amazing restaurant Longhorns across the street.
Charming town. Will be back. The continental Breakfast could be better and open at 7am vs 8 am
- Martin (2/5): - If you want to experience what a 1960’s road side motel is like, this is it!
- Beatriz (8/5): Hospitality was five stars - Hospitality was five stars!
- Richard (8/5): - Charming hosts, satisfactory breakfast, and comfy bed.
- Francis (6/5): - I can only rate the stays at Bear Lodge Motel at 3/5 stars, because both their ice & hot water machine was broke and out of order during our stays, plus the continental breakfast was open later than other places (8am-10am, instead of 6am-9am), it is out of my expectation.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Clean rooms, staff was very friendly and accommodating. It is an older hotel, yet would stay again
- Rose (8/5): -
- Ethan (10/5): - T
- glenda (10/5): - Breakfast was a bonus
- Cathy (2/5): - It said breakfast included! Note on door, not enough staff
- Patricia (3/5): - The young lady who checked me in was very nice. The room was behind a wall, so I couldn't even open the curtain. For the price I paid, the most expensive one so far, the room was tiny. No place to plug in your phone without unplugging something else. Uncomfortable bed. I tried to take a bath, but there was so much dust in the water. It was gross. The breakfast offered was frozen brkfst sandwiches to put in a microwave, and there was no decaf coffee. Would not recommend to anyone.
- Cindy (6/5): - Liked location. Disliked the bed. Pillows sucked. Room smelt like a dog kennel. Had to buy pillows and air freshener!! Ice machine not working!!
- Mike (2/5): - Ice machine broke.no coffee until 8 am.lousy breakfast options.dryer takes 2 times to dry at $2 each cycle.asked to have garbage and towels changed, left dirty towels on floor and door unlocked. Beds very uncomfortable. Jacked up price for subpar service
- Jeanette (5/5): It was okay and it is a lovely, scenic setting. - Location, friendly staff, comfortable bed, clean No coffee maker in room, mediocre continental breakfast, very expensive for what was provided. If you are paying well over $150.00.
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Roy (6/5): Okay for a one night stay. It was clean. - Quaint No coffee in the room. Office was open in morning for coffee.
- Boxmaker (9/5): Superb -
- James (9/5): Superb -
- Michelle (8/5): - Great place. Would stay here again.
- Karen (1/5): Never again - Parking So expensive for what you got, shower over bath for people under 5ft 5,
Breakfast included was coffee / tea and A choice of muesli bar or bun.
Slipped in shower as didn’t see bath mat hidden in wardrobe
Old bed that sunk in middle so uncomfortable
Left two days early and forfeited hundreds of dollars as not staying another second
Lights outside flickered all night too, approached staff they just said put key on desk and turned and walled away
- Debra (6/5): It’s functional but not worth that price. ($150) - It was a clean place to sleep Bed was like a teeter totter( afraid I would shoot my husband out when I got in it)
No coffee maker in room especially since the lobby was still locked at 7 am
So any bars or coffee available for “breakfast” were not even accessible
None of this would be a big deal if we hadn’t paid $150 for the room.
It’s functional but not worth that price.
- David (10/5): - Hidden Gem
- Pete (6/5): No breakfast and ridiculous penalty for using a credit card! - The location is great. The breakfast is terrible and I don’t like being charged an extra 4% to use my credit card!
- William (9/5): Would stay again. Sundance has a great place for breakfast and a super saloon and bar for food! - Room was clean. Parking issue was explained very well and was not a major issue.
- Stephen (10/5): Well worth your stay - Very enjoyable stay.
Great staff.
Rapidly fixed a minor issue.
Would have no issue with a return visit.
- Scott (4/5): Disappointed - Head of bed slopes down. No door for the sink-shower area. So my morning shower fills room with light and noise while wife tries to get a little more sleep. A/C did not hold room temp at all. Started at 72 and after getting up many times ended at 66. We never have our house below 72.
Site says free breakfast! I wouldn’t even call it a continental one. Drinks-coffee (1 pot) and hot water for tea (I guess) and oatmeal packs. No juice or milk. So to eat-oatmeal, a 3 pack of those small donuts or choice of several types of granola bars. That’s it!
- Alice (10/5): Nice little spot - Bear lodge was a cozy little place near Devil's tower Wyoming. The parking was a little complicated but we were able to park right in front of our door - we just had to be careful backing out.The motel receptionist recommended a local bar for a late supper. We had a wonderful meal and hung out with the locals, listening to music and shooting the breeze! One of our favorite stops on our 4 week road trip
- Julie (8/5): Good location - Hotel is easy to find and the staff was friendly. The check-in process was a bit on the slow side. My room was clean with plenty of space. The shower is not made for tall people (my head was nearly at the level of the shower head and I am 5’2”). The free breakfast is nothing more than a selection of granola bars and pre-packaged donuts.
- Doug (6/5): - No coffee pot in room Just pastry for breakfast
- Verified traveler (8/5): nice stay - Room was nice, quiet, staff was very friendly. only downside: breakfast was basically not existent: coffee yes, hot water was unfortunately not available, some snacks... not really something to consider breakfast.
- Nicolias (10/5): - Friendly staff. Secure parking inside courtyard in front of room . Easy ground floor access.
- Angela (3/5): Disappointing - Mostly clean, microwave, refrigerator. Breakfast was ‘included’ in the price but not provided ‘due to lack of staff’ The only outlet available for charging was up high on the wall and had to unplug the television. No services or staff available. The deadbolt only functions from the inside. No way to lock it from the outside. Just a chintzy push lock when you leave. No place to put wet towels and the shower rod fell down when I tried to put a towel over it.
- Debra (5/5): Passable -
- Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointed and exhausted - Our room was sloped, our feet were higher than our head in bed! The bathroom shower room had no door. The AC was off so we were baking trying to sleep for the 6 hours we were there. We really needed good sleep and it didn't happen. Especially when we heard the entire conversation outside our door, talking about our truck. We were then worried they were going to steal it or something. Not worth the $140 for our room at all.
- Scott (4/5): Very disappointed! Nice people but very disappointed with the room! - Breakfast was disappointing. Our TV did not work. Our mattress was horrible. Not enough full size towels. There was something spilled all over the AC and it gave an immediate “yuck” feeling. Sadly we would not choose this location again.
- donna (6/5): Good enough. - The room was adequate and felt clean enough. Parking was out front. The other couple we were with had a room on the southern outer part of the building and the glass outer door was too hot to touch in the morning. Breakfast was a bunch of packaged carbs and barely adequate though kudos to the hotel for trying.
- Christopher (9/5): Superb -
- Md (4/5): Stay only if you have to - The only thing I liked was the location. It's probably the closest place near Devils Tower. Other places were at least an hour's drive, but this was around 35-37 minutes. The bed was comfortable. A lot of things. The room I was given felt like a jail. There were stains on the carpet, the fridge was making a constant buzzing noise, and the walls were so thin that you could hear what other people were saying in the next room. The checkout instructions were not clear, so I had to wait until 8 am when they opened the office. I could have left a couple of hours earlier. There was supposed to be a breakfast, but it starts at 8 am! What about people who want to leave early?
Also, when I booked it online, the price was 96 dollars, but when I was charged 100. I did not notice it right then, after a long drive, I only noticed it after a few days. I don't have the energy to dispute over 4 dollars, but I would recommend checking what you are paying when checking in.
- Larry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melody (10/5): - Staff was super accommodating and let us check in a few hours early (as soon as they had our room ready).
Room was comfortable and quiet.
- Ronald L (8/5): Cozy - A one night stay. Went to see Devils Tower and this was a cozy place to stay.
- Davide (5/5): Decent but not the top - Good location, friendly stuff. It needs a style refresh especially considering the ration price/quality.
- garywJ2398ZT (2/5): Worst Motel to stay at. If your vacation in Wyoming - 1st off, I have pictures and a video of all of this stuff. The room was very dirty. All the vents and intake of the air conditioning had cobwebs and dust hanging on them, even the bathroom. The bathroom had all kinds of mold around the tub and was not clean.
The Box Spring had bad stains on them. The timer in the bathroom had no knobs on it to turn it off or on. The mini refrigerator still had the plastic wrap from when they bought it half torn off. The pipes made loud noises. Which made it tough to sleep day or night.
I asked for a discount for all of these reasons. After being told, I would receive one. After almost two weeks of not receiving the discount. And calling. One of the owners called and said, "Are you trying to Blackmail me" I told her no I was just going to give her a fair and honest review on the motel room unless a discount was given.
- Aldo (10/5): - Very nice
- Andrea (6/5): - Nice and clean. But the office opens at 8, for people on road trips this is too late to enjoy the free breakfast or get to the ice machine
- Chris (8/5): - Very pleasant stay. Thank you.
- Piper (9/5): Superb -
- Angela (8/5): - Cute little place. Very friendly staff at check in. Only downsides was there was no door for the shower room and no sign that the steps are RIGHT when you open the door to enter the room. Room was clean and comfortable. I would stay again.
- GARY (8/5): - only one restaurant in town and no elevator in motel.
- Ellen (6/5): Pleasant - Private parking...good access to the town...good shower Linens outdated...breakfast was mediocre and coffee was late because staff were late in the morning....staffing seemed to be an issue..
- Judy L. (8/5): - Naveah checked us in nicely. It’s an older hotel, but bathrooms nicely updated.
- David (4/5): - This is the second time I have stayed. Both times the tv didn't work. I had to ask for a coffee pot, it wasn't very good, cheap and hard to operate. It was advertised that they offered breakfast, but the lobby doesn't open until 8:00 am.
- Vicki (8/5): - We stayed one night at the Bear Lodge Motel in Sundance after a long day at Devil’s Tower. The room was clean, as was the shower. Everything is a bit dated but it was very quiet. Front desk staff was very friendly. Unfortunately the office was not open in the morning when we left (there is a drop box for your key) so we could not get any ice (since it is located in the office). Overall everything was fine just not updated (few electrical outlets are always a concern in older units) but beds were comfortable.
- Trenten (10/5): - everything was wonderful-after a 14-hour drive, i was happy to be able to relax peacefully!
- Tingyong (8/5): - It’s bad motel
- Thomas (8/5): Very good - Good location, good parking
Has fridge, microwave; coffeemaker on request. Room was clean Decor is dated
- Catherine (8/5): Very good -
- DiscoveryOnADime (8/5): Dated, but quiet and decent family-owned hotel - This hotel is an older building with updates, like the bathroom tiles. It's very clean with plenty of room. The beds are quite firm, but we slept well. The breakfast consists of prepackaged pastries, and coffee or water. The location is good -- off of the highway and on the way to Devil's Tower.
- Jams (6/5): Ok for a night. - Downtown location Old looking property. Television in room didn’t work. I assume that was a common problem as a note was attached warning of a fine if tampering with the unit. We checked in late and left early as was our travel plan so the TV wasnt a big issue for us.
